  1. Solar Freeze looked down at the other hero, on the ground in front of the building. He also saw the Molotov cocktail that almost caught the man straight in the face.

"Okay, we got someone in there. Who wants to rush blindly into the burning building first to arrest them?" The man shouted, barely making himself heard over the roar of the flames in the building. Solar Freeze quickly descended to land in front of the man.

"If we're going to go in there, we should have a plan. Obviously, at least one of our enemies is on the third floor. There may be others scattered around the building. I suggest three different entrance points. You in the front, myself from above, and you," he pointed to the woman still hovering above them, "from the rear, if you're coming. I have a pair of communicators with me if we need to get in contact. They use a high-frequency energy band and an encrypted channel, so there's almost no chance of the enemy overhearing us." He offered the communicators to the two others. "Shall we head in?"
  2. "Increase power to negating wave by 50%. Increase area dispersal by 75%," Solar Freeze ordered his battlesuit. This new hero's powers were boosting his abilities greatly; he had to remember to thank her afterwards! Firing off a few more waves, Solar Freeze judged that the effects were still not enough.

"Activate negation shield." I'm going to have to go in, he thought. "Expand shield to 5 meters." He turned to the hero beside him, "Are you going to come in, too? I could use your help in there."
  3. Technically... isn't it only hentai if a human female is involved in the process?

This is more like a... a documentary on the mating habits of Kheldians!!

    Cat show!

    Tigra looks kind of InuYasha-ish
  5. OOC: I mist not have been paying attention to that part of her description...

Edit: And by "mist" I mean "must." Damn typos...
  6. At that point, a human entered the Inn. However, after a second, the human features melted away, revealing a face that looked somewhat like a cross between a human and a reptile. The lipless mouth bared fangs that made the creature's face look like the world's most dangerous grinning skull. A lack of any visible nose or ears added to the impression, as did the white scales, with just a tinge of orange, that covered its body. The creature's muscle mass seems to have increased only slightly, but - to any capable of sensing it - its density and weight have skyrocketed. Still wearing the dark blue t-shirt and blue jeans that it walked in with, most of its body is not visible, but the same transformation has happened to the visible portion of the arms and clawed hands. Small bony thorns cover the creature's body, even pushing out its shirt slightly, making their presence known even through its clothing. The small horns also cover the crown of the creature's now-hairless head. The creature wears belt covered with metallic gray studs, and the buckle is actually a similar metallic gray object, long and rectangular, with rounded edges. A faint humming can be heard in the ultrasonic ranges, far above the human range of hearing.

The creature strode nonchalantly over to the bar and sat on a stool. Rapping a knuckle on the bar to get the barkeeper's attention - and had to pull the knuckle out after a bony ridge became stuck in the wood - he calmly asked, "May I order a drink? I don't care what, exactly; as long as it tastes good. Also, I would like to rent a room..."

(OOC: Uh, Kagura hasn't fought anyone other than Yin, Reishi's 19-20)

    [/ QUOTE ]

OOC: Whoops. Age confusion... I thought Kagura was the older one, because of when you said your character was gonna be a nine-year-old... Or did I mis-interpret that, too? Oh, and I'll take Mountain, if no one else will.

IC: Gerden looked slightly relieved, but said nothing. Instead, he turned to the cloaked man and said, "The Raptor School isn't named that 'because it sounds tough.' The school is all about aerial maneuvers and attacks. Through chi manipulation, students of the Raptor School can even fly short distances. So, you see, there's actually a reason behind the name..." Then Gerden considered the cloaked man's last comment. "And exactly how old are you, anyway?"

OOC: I actually chose the name from a D&D feat that is a bunch of aerial moves put together.

    ------------------------

Megumi's attention was now almost comletely on the gates. Unlike the others, she intended to keep out of pointless arguments, at least until after she got into the Temples. She was surprised by the statement the cloaked man made, indicating that he was much older than... well, almost anyone. Human beings didn't live that long, so there was almost no possibility of anyone living being from the Meiji era, especially one in such good of physical shape as the cloaked man. Maybe he's a mutant, too? Or do they teach life-extension techniques here? These thoughts were meaningless for now, especially without answers forthcoming. She would find out, in time. For now, there was only the wait until the gates of the Temples opened themselves.
  8. "Grow? Does that mean there's no meat?" Gerden asked, looking a bit unsettled at the prospect. "I didn't know this was gonna be a vegetarian place..." He cut off as the bells began and the gate opened.

At the sound of the bells, Megumi jumped. She had been paying attention to the other people around the clearing, especially the three older ones. Both of them were more powerful than anyone else here, except that thirteen-year-old who had beaten down the de... satyr. Any one of those could take on the entire group of students, and the girl might be able to do it with a handicap. This worries me, she thought. So many people with such great power gathered in one place...
  9. Gerden looked back over at the Chinese girl when she thanked him for the food. She still looked hungry, and, at that moment her stomach growled. Sighing, Gerden opened up a larger box he had been keeping in his pack. It had enough food for a few more meals in it. "Eat as much as you want. I got here faster than I thought, and I'm sure there's food in the temple."

At that point, Megumi stood up and spoke her piece. "As you heard from Gerden, I'm the other Raptor School entrant. Normally there's only one, but it was a close match, and my parents have some influence in the school. My mother was actually the last Raptor School student."

    Edit: Fixing plotholes...
  10. "Aahhh... It's days like these that I really enjoy this job..." Solar Freeze, of course, couldn't hear his voice over the rush of air past his ears, but saying the words out loud gave them a sort of validity, a finality thoughts couldn't match. "That's odd... The thermal readings in Boomtown are off the charts..." Flying over Skyway City, he tapped the display on his wrist a few times to bring up the exact inforamtion he needed, then turned towards Boomtown and accelerated as much as the boosters on his back would allow, which translated to a fair clip, even as the heroes of Paragon City measured these things.

It took him a few minutes to reach Boomtown, even skipping the convoluted route that the land-bound heroes had to traverse. Upon reaching the site of the thermal disruption, he discovered that it was actually a burning building. Unusual in this district, because there was so little left to burn, and no reason to do it. But there was no time for idle musing.

"Activate negating wave!" He shouted. His voice-activated armor complied readily, and the red-glowing pits on the palm of his gauntlets turned blue. He placed his palms towards the blaze, and activated the energy emitters within them. A blue haze shot towards the building, and where it touched the flames diminished, their energy negated. Frost rimed the areas of the building the wave had touched, but this quickly melted away due to the heat of the flames nearby. He repeated the attack over and over again, to quench the flames. This is going to take a while...
  11. "Well," Gerden began, "I'm a student of the Raptor School, who have been sending their most promising student to these Temples every time they open their doors. But this year, it seems," and at this, he gave a pointed look to the girl sitting on a rock nearby, affecting disinterest in the proceedings, " that the school has decided to send two students... Oh, and by the way, do you know if there's any truth to the rumor that one of the Raptor School students who was sent here teaches at the Temple now?"

(OOC: If necessary, I'll make my third a teacher, but I'd prefer not to. Just in case, I'm leaving the door open. Or it might give someone else an idea for a teacher...)
  12. (OOC: And feed it to her how? She was unconscious!)

The girl spluttered awake as the herbs entered her mouth. Too soon, in fact, for them to have actually started working. She must have been semi-conscious, and the taste woke her up.

"Uh... Herbs, I think... We didn't know how bad off you were so we tried some medical herbs," Gerden stammered. "Seems like you're healthier than you looked..." At that, he raced over to his backpack and sifted through it at super-speed, various objects flying everywhere, but almost coincidentally, it seemed, not hitting anyone. After about a second, Gerden was back over at the girl, holding out a package wrapped in tinfoil, with some bread and cheese poking out.

"Here, take it," he said, concern obvious in his expression. "It was gonna be my dinner, but you need it more." Seeing her hesitation, he said, "Oh, go on, take it! It's not like its poisoned or anything, and we can't have you passing out again!"
  13. Gerden laid the girl down gently. "I dunno," he said. "Wouldn't speeding up her metabolism when she's starving be a bad thing? I think we should just let her rest..."
  14. "Yeah. It's nice to meet you all, but we should probably be worrying about her," Gerden said, walking back to the clearing. He was taking it slow, just to be careful. "How can we fix her?"
  15. Hearing a small crash in the bushes on the other side of the clearing, Gerden suddenly burst into action. A split-second later, he was across the clearing, even though he went around the side to avoid bumping into anyone. A slight brush at the speed he was moving could easily break bones, and even the Reishi girl was vulnerable when not channeling her chi. About a second later, he had completed his search, finding a slight Chinese girl in the brush. Hefting her onto his shoulder, he marveled at how light she was. I'm not particularly strong, but I think I could carry her with one arm, he thought. She must not be eating well. I wonder if she's trying to become a student here, too...

"No..." she mumbled as he picked her up, and Gerden realized she was still semi-conscious. "I'll make it by myself..."

"And what good does it do you if you die before achieving your goal? Huh?" Gerden wasn't sure if she could even hear or understand him, but he still felt the need to say it.

"Hey, guys, there's someone over here!" he shouted, and started moving back towards the group, carrying the girl.
  16. Gerden sighed. Things seemed to be going from bad to worse rather quickly, even for the speedster-martial artist. Turning to the ninja and the old man, he said somewhat petulantly, "And I wanted to fight the demon-boy first!"

Suddenly, from behind the bushes, a familiar female voice sounded, "You want a fight? Then take me on!" Out of the bushes stepped a dark-haired Aisian girl, wearing the same style gi as Gerden, a dark blue martial arts uniform with a red falcon's head on it.

"Megumi?! What are you doing here?!" Gerden was astonished.

"My parents talked to the sensei, and they decided that it was such a close match that we should both go," Megumi lied evenly. She could always fool him when it was necessary, but she never liked doing it.

Gerden looked suspicious, but after a second accepted it. "I guess... We can have a match after this is done. I wanna see that guy lose!"
  17. The younger boy was just about to introduce himself to Gerden when through the brush appeared a strange young man some years older than both boys. As he brashly and rudely introduced himself as "Jake Q. Millions," insulting both boys based on their age alone, Gerden took an instant dislike to him, much as it seemed the young man had already taken to them.

"Munchkin?! I'm taller than-," Gerden cut himself off at the last second. Calm down, Gerden, he thought. That's what he's trying to do to you. Besides, it wouldn't do to antagonize your classmates before the school even appears, let alone you get in to the school. "Hello," he started again, somewhat lamely. "My name's Gerden, Mr. Millions. This other student was just about to introduce himself when you... showed up."

(OOC: Maybe I'll make Megumi's secondary a "Dark Fire" kind of thing then. It'll be LIKE Firey Aura, but with a little streak of negative energy for those who happen to be immune to fire. It'll be a secret technique she learned and combined with her mutant power; fits her theme better than pure Dark Armor anyways - more offensive in use.)

No problem, dude! I'll be watching this thread for when you finish and I can resubmit mine! God speed, to you, man! (<--I think I used 'God speed' right...didn't try to mean it as 'Hurry up!!!' but it is my first time using that saying so I dunno'.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think its fine. Godspeed can be used to say "I hope things go quickly," as well as "Please hurry up." In my knowledge, anyways.

Hey guys! I'm glad that there is a continued interest in these pics, but unfortunately I've stopped accepting requests until I can get this list of requests done

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry. I did read the whole thread, so I knew you were stopping for a while, but then you put out the updated list, and it had some of the people on it who posted after you claimed to have stopped, so I figured you might have started up again.

Punch me if I start babbling. Any time, really!
  19. Gerden almost jumped when a twig snapped behind him. He had been so lost in his own thoughts that he hadn't been paying attention to his own surroundings. He turned around to find a boy younger even than him, probably by three or four years. He self-consciously pushed his dirty blond hair out of his eyes, well aware that his well-worn blue gi - with the red falcon's-head deign which was the emblem of his school - looked like he had been journeying for days.

"Hello sir," the boy greeted him. "I do not wish to impose, but to find you here on this particular day, I must assume you are here for admittance into the Twin Temples as well?"

"Yep," Gerden replied. "You'd be assuming correctly." Gerden's accent was that of the American northeast. "I'm Gerden. What's your name?" Gerden held out his hand for a handshake, almost having to bend down due to his height.
  20. Well, if dollhouse has over 50 chars, she's probably spread over most of the servers.
  21. OOC: That's a shame. I'm kinda basing my 2 characters off of Archetypes, but that's only because almost any melee-range character will look like either a Scrapper or a Tanker anyways. And i'm gonna stick relatively close to the powersets, but only because I want to make actual characters out of these at some point. But obviously Megumi was supposed to be a Dark Melee/Dark Armor Scrapper. Now I'm probably gonna have to give her Super Reflexes, even though that was supposed to be Gerden's domain. *Sigh*

Edit: With the exception of Gerden's Super Speed, I was gonna keep the powers down to the equivalent of the Level 1 or 2 powers anyways. I try not to over-power my characters. Now that I think of it, though, powered-down Regen could work for Megumi... But the point is for her to be the powerhouse of the two, while Gerden is more defensively able.
  22. Let it never be said that I don't like bands and their wagons, and especially jumping onto them.

    Can you do Solar Freeze?
    Solar Freeze Front
    Solar Freeze Rear

You may have to Copy & Paste; I use Geocities.

Edit: By the way, in case you need to know, he's a Fire/Ice Blaster with Flight. Just figured it'd be helpful.
  23. OOC: A couple of questions: Is there any restriction on the number of characters a player can have? If not, I'm gonna make a pair of chars. What about some of the secondary (or defensive) powers, like Dark Armor, or the Tanker's auras? Obviously, we're playing fast and loose with real martial arts here, but exactly how wacky are we allowed to get? Should we be sticking to Archetypes and powersets from CoH, or are the suggested powersets simply guidelines to base your character off of? Do we need to provide full OOC bios, or will IC descriptions suffice?

Gerden stood where he thought the gates to the temples would appear. He was early, as usual; his mutant power (superhuman speed) ensured that. He didn't care much, though: being early gave him time to think and practice. This time, his thoughts were on the events that brought him here. How he had barely defeated his primary rival, Megumi Tohyama, in the tournament-style selection exam. She was the toughest opponent out of all of the other students, and the one he respected the most. Another mutant, her powers were the ability to call upon dark energy, and conduct it through her body; an appropriate power, considering rumor stated one of her parents (it wasn't made clear which one; rumors were almost never big on details) had fused with a Nictus energy-being. Despite the fact that they were at the top of the class and competed over everything, they actually got along pretty well. However, the one time he had asked her about the rumors, she sucker-punched him and afterwards wouldn't talk to him for a week. Which was about how long it took the black eye to heal, he thought wistfully. I wish I knew why she got so mad over those rumors.

    ------------------------------

Megumi hacked through the underbrush. As usual, Gerden had beaten her to the temple's gates; she had learned years ago not to race him. The frustrating thing was that, despite her more offensively-minded powers, he beat her more often than not when sparring, too. That was why she couldn't accept his selection; not because she didn't like him (which she did; they were good friends), but because she believed he shouldn't be able to beat her. Her mother was a master of this style of combat, and instructed her regularly. But the Raptor School specialized in aerial attacks, teaching its students to leap incredible distances and eventually to fly using their chi, or inner energy. Gerden's power helped there; his increased momentum meant that he could jump higher and farther than normal humans, in addition to the fact that he was so frustratingly hard to hit. So she had stolen a scroll deteailing a map of the area the temple was to appear in, and the calculations of exactly when it was to appear. She knew she still had a day's worth of travel in order to reach the temple's area; by then the temple would probably have appeared. Fortunately they had no way of communicating with the temple; the selection was an entirely informal process instituted by her school to encourage its students and give them something to strive for, thereby increasing the quality of their skills.
  24. Meanwhile, in a dark lab, several white-coated scientists worked labored at softly glowing monitors placed around a gigantic tube in the center of the work space. The tube was filled with a blue fluid, which obsured the form of its occupant. The form twicthed occaisionally, but, for the most part, was still, floating inside the tube.

"The subject is showing increasing resistance to the sedatives," one of the scientists stated, a worried look on his face.

"Then switch over to the other mixture," said a raven-haired woman dressed very unlike the rest of the scientists. She wore a simple T-shirt and jeans, with small glasses perched on her nose. The ID card clipped to the pocket of her shirt proclaimed her Janice Stromwell, Head of Metahuman Research for Renzer Scientific, Inc.

"We already have," the scientist replied. "In fact, we've changed the mixture at least three times already. It's just not having any effect. Pretty soon, the subject is going to wake up..."

As if on cue, the form within the tube stirred. After a couple of seconds of confusion, it moved again, seeking a way out of its confinement. The tube began to crack, fluid leaking out of the spidery holes in its surface. Then the tube burst open completely, shards flying everywhere. Several of the scientists were injured, others, including Janice, managed to take cover in time to avoid the flying debris.

Janice tapped the intercom on the wall near her. "Get Meta Security down here immediately!" she snapped into the mike. "Test subject 801.2b has broken loose!"

OOC: Anyone who wants to join in as the experiment, go right ahead. I deliberately left the description vague, so you can insert whatever you want into there. Just keep your character's powers relatively limited for now.
  25. Character Name: Solar Freeze
    Archetype: Tech Fire/Ice Blaster
Inspiration: My characters' backstories are always partially influenced by their creation. Normally I have no set "plan" when I create a character, I just wing it and make up something based on the origin and powersets of the character. Solar Freeze is the only character for CoH that I actually had something planned for before I started the character. Originally his backstory was going to a Scrapper, and his powersets (and name) to a female Blaster. The plan was that he was on the recieving end of experimentation from an evil corporation that would want to use him for their own purposes, but he escapes and goes into hiding, while using a super-powered identity to bring them to justice.

Then I decided I felt like having my main be a Blaster, and wanted to use that backstory for him, so I just stole the powersets and name that I had planned for a future character in the storyline. The "sinister experimentation" turned into a "slightly-less-sinister lab accident." I decided I liked the idea of having a character who doesn't just think he knew everything, he actually does know everything. But I had to come up with a reason that he didn't just build a super combat robot out of spare computer parts and defeat Arachnos in one fell swoop. What if he knows everything, but it's all mixed up and he can't access everything right now? my brain asked me. So he is now the guy who knows everything, but doesn't know he knows everything.

    Whew... That was a mouthful.
