The thing about the first episode of Lost was that it was two hours long, allowing for more decompression, and shot so much in the style of a TV movie that ABC was asking to turn it into just a TV movie with a closed ending.
Yeah, Damon and J.J. didn't care much for that request -
I loved the Spidey jammies. Nice shoutout to Glover for Spider-Man!

Quote:To be fair, after that appearance, Stewart looked at some of the female PAs and their clothes fell off.I agree completely. This doesn't deserve as much attention as it's received, IMO, and sadly draws attention aware from much more deserving appearances.

It's actually their third semester, second year. Remember, they took Spanish 101 and 102 with Senor Chang!

Tina and Mike getting together was obviously making fun of "Oh, they are going to get together because they are Asian."
Jacob Ben Israel was freakin' accused of that in his questioning of their relationship in the first 5 minutes!
(By the way, my crush of Jenna Ush... grew in this episode) -
Quote:Actually, I don't think the couple was too willing to co-mingle. They reluctantly got wasted with Shady Couple because they basically got guilt-tripped into doing those activities because Sean saved the girl's life. Which, of course, was probably planned. I can see Sean dictating what activities they would be a part of in an effort to spend more time with Laila alone. He, after all, arranged it so they would hike to that spot so he could propose. Not that I think they were isolated, but on that massive ship (it had a huge concelierge area with escalators), I am not so sure they saw anyone more than once, except for Shady Couple.Yeah, cruise ships are massive and one could, in theory, bunk away in a room the entire time, but the picture they painted of the couple was that they were at least somewhat active and willing to get wasted with strangers. And most cruise events are all about that--or, at least, that's what I do when I'm on a cruise. What gets me though is that his door card got him aboard the ship and that ties into a cruise ship's computer system with room number, photo, name, etc. I guess that's what tweaked me more than anything. He was able to get onto the ship but after that he wasn't in the system after that? Yeah, possible, and in a different show or movie I might buy it, but here... not so much.
As far as how Sean got back onto the ship in the first place, you got me there. But one can fanwank two explanations:
Whoever wiped the system wanted Sean back on the ship so he could know that Laila was gone so he could easily be manipulated (maybe he was the first choice to fly the plane that Daddy ended up hijacking). With that reasoning, someone could have been posted at the entrance and given the signal to wipe the system after he entered. Everyone else would be in place, just the data would need to be switched. I think this is likely because how else would Sean know about the hijacked plane in the first place if he didn't come into contact with "The Conspiracy" at some point in his search for Laila.
or
Because it seemed like Sean was coming back from a private excursion set up through the cruise ship (the snorkling boat appears to be taking them directly back to the ship, not to another port), they checked his ID on that smaller boat by hand or, because they all came from the ship and never left the boat captain's sight, there was no need to recheck them once they got back. -
Quote:Pretty much, that's the joke. He is obviously inebriated when he was walking to Pepper and yelling to abort. He wasn't airsick. He was either hungover or it was a result of the palladium (or was it cadmium?) poisoning.
Now, whether or not he was acting to cover up his illness, I guess that is debatable. -
Most movies have alt endings, IM2 had an alt opening!
I'm glad this got cut. I already thought IM2 relied to oheavily on being jokey and this opening is definitely more jokey than I remembered the actual opening to be. I don't think this would have made a good first impression for me. -
Thing you have to remember is that Perry probably didn't walk into the studio wearing that. It was probably picked up by the costume folk at Street (word, yo!) and, yes, approved by Perry (or vice versa). So at some point, the Street folk (yeah, dawg) thought it was appropriate.
I don't mind them pulling the scene if there was an actual high amount of complaints. Sesame Street isn't the type of show to take a "stand" behind closed doors, in that the program itself, the showrunners and what not, will thumb their noses at detractors. They teach tolerance and understanding on its actual program. I can see this possibly being used for future sketch fodder abotu acceptance. -
I said it is like Alias, what with the location title cards and its own Marshall-like character, except it has more humor (not surprising, considering Abrams). I liked Alias and I like Undercovers so far.
The two leads have great chemistry together and I love their little snark and quips towards each other. -
Quote:Hence why I put proper in quotation marksHigh resolution computer monitor vs 10 year old crt television. For me at least the computer IS the proper medium.
I actually find it harder to watch TV shows on the computer. Not that they are of a lesser quality, but I am more liable to wander off or surf the net while watching something on that computer than on the TV screen.
Which is why I want to give the new shows I am interested in my undivided attention via the TV -
Just wait for the DVD: "Sesame Street: Uncensored!"
You will also find out why Bird is nicknamed "Big." -
I want to see that episode NOW!
If only there was some sort of warp involving time... -
I believe it actually premieres on TV next week. I usually like to watch the premiere of a show on TV to get it in its "proper" medium.
Unfortunately, I will be in Europe next week and will miss it and I don't really feel motivated to watch it now, so I will catch up when I get back. -
Though I knew they would be singing Telephone (and thought perhaps Gaga was a silent executive producer after "Theatrical" and now "Audition"
), it may have been the second best song of the night (Empire State of Mind beats it in terms of choreography, but I think the singing on Telephone is better).

Quote:I would say the Hulk is closer to a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde analogy than Frankenstein's Monster.Do you like the character (any of the portrayals) of the Frankenstein Monster?
The Wolf Man (not werewolves in general)?
Lennie Small, from Of Mice and Men?
...maybe you just aren't into the 'misunderstood/sympathetic monster' or 'large and generally gentle but also unpredictable and dangerous' character archetypes. -
Quote:Basically the impression that I got.I don't think that was her daughter but a much younger "oops" sister.
The time jumps in the episode...yeah, a bit much, but I read about them before hand so I was prepared.
It's funny, because I was reading a review of the episode on AV Club and they said this show is going to be more about the mysteries than the characters, unlike Lost, which was more about the characters than the mysteries. Setting aside the comments that tore that apart (saying Lost was about the mysteries, not the characters...Hello, we had an episode devoted to Rose and Bernard!), the problem with a show being more about the mysteries is that we ended up not caring about the characters or their actions and just want answers, answers, answers. Nothing matters in any given episode unless an ANSWER is given. And that is hard to sustain long term
I don't think The Event is going that route, at least with Jason Ritter's character. I actually started to care about his plight (even though you SO don't meet any strangers on a vacation. That always ends badly). -
I shed a tear for the demise or Artina..Tinartie...Artinie?

Last season, Glee was both on FoxOnDemand (the Fox website) and Hulu the day (And often morning) after.
