.... wait'll you meet Romulus and his Pet Nicti Recluse and his henchpeople are so many small, purring kittens compared to that Triad of Terror.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you talking about the ITF? Because I've run it several times with several different characters in several very different teams, and each time Romulus hasn't been really that tough. Time consuming, yes. Unbelievably difficult, no.

    [/ QUOTE ]

On all characters combined, I'd bet I've run the ITF in the neighborhood of 50 times. I'm really, really burnt out on it. I'd really be fine with never seeing it again, but its lucrative so every now and then, I will accept a friend's invite to run it.

But that to the side, Romulus is not difficult. What is difficult are his pet Nicti, who sometimes defy all proposed strategies.

The ITF is unique - at least to me - in that every time it is run, things go a little differently. I have seen teams that steamrolled everything else in the entire TF brought to a dead halt because of the nicti. I've seen PUGs comprised of people whom I didn't really think that much of them or their playstyles, have no problem with the Triad of Tenaciousness and beat them all down in less than 5 minutes flat.

Just depends on the day. Whereas if you bring a good team to the STF, you're going to beat it, no questions asked. Hannon can be beaten even with a bad PUG.

[/ QUOTE ]? really? i havent run a stf yet, because im lazy, but i have yet to see rommy not fall to a standard ground and pound.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Romulus is not really the problem.

The *problem* is his pet Nicti, who [depending on what mood they're in that day] can take it into their stupid little AI heads to defy known tactics, and do it well.

And yes, before anyone starts, I have been on countless successful ITF teams.

So yeah, if Ares thinks Recluse is a problem, he's going to love the ITF. Actually I prefer the STF because to me, that is one of the easiest TFs I have ever done, right after Katie Hannon.

Good lord are you people still beating this horse?

Everyone in game seems to have moved on. MA was nerfed as hard as it could be and guess what...farming is still going on. Get over it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It hasn't been "nerfed as hard as it could be." That won't happen until all rewards are stripped off of AE missions.

I would bet that this is eventually coming, and probably not too far away either, but until then.... they have not done nearly all they can do. But I agree the farming is still going on.

AoE heavy? Does this mean you're going to be wanting to run Damage auras?

I never pick those up until after level 30, that's just me. I have to have a bunch of other issues at least partway under control before I start messing with those.

Endurance issues are a big problem in this game for a lot of us. For every person shouting "Oh having no endurance 'adds balance' and makes you appreciate the journey from 1 to 50 oh so much more!" you got at least one person grinning and bearing it for the time being.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I understand that no one (except perhaps Fire Blast people) are going to be doing much effective aoeing before 20 cause of endurance, I just meant in the grand scheme of things, I'd like to be good at it eventually. I keep ragequitting at about level 6 from running out of end and being forced to stand around doing nothing while I wait for it to return, because rest's cooldown is too long.

I actually have a Nin/Dark MM I got to 21 recently, and it's what prompted the comment about AOE. The Ninja's are completely ST based, and most of the game is simply how fast and efficiently you deal with groups of enemy minions/lts. Having impressive ST dmg isn't that great most of the time. A genin always seems to die each spawn, and now that the upgrade costs 50 end it's just a huge headache to constantly replace him....

    [/ QUOTE ]

You WILL be good at it eventually, its just that the way thingsare set up now, you use an inordinate amount of Endurance before you have much of a way to mitigate that.

I notice that in many melee armor sets, they always have a damage AoE as like, the second or third power avaliable to you. Bwahahahaha! For instance, a level 8 /elec Brute does not have anywhere near the End. OR the mitigating slots to make that worth doing. My level 38 Dark Armor Scrapper only now is picking up Death Shroud [I think that's it]. My actual /elec Brute didn't pick up Lightning Field till her mid-30s.

And these damage AoEs are definitely worth having, I love them. But do NOT pick them up as a lowbie. You'll cry tears of frustration.

My best advice to you is this, I learned it here and now I pass it on to you. Early on, THREE-SLOT rest for recharge. You want Rest up again ASAP! When you respec at level 22 or whenever, then you take those two extra slots off and put them somewheres else, because you've begun to address your End. issues via Fitness.

Early 3-slotting Rest really does reduce your downtime some. Just ry to hang in there, things do get better later on. You'll probably have to throw at least one END slot onto those pets. I had a 'bots MM that I deleted at about 22, not least because managing him and all the pets was such a massive End-related headache.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    * Any MM.
    * Fire/Dark Corruptor. Rain of Fire + Tar Patch = everything dead.
    * Plant Dom. Seeds of Confusion at level 8.

None of the above requires an attack chain or lots of endurance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

.... /dark Corrs don't use a lot of Endurance? They don't need an attack chain?

    Okay.

Your mistake here is in thinking that because you have "Forum Cartel" under your name that I was lumping you into the same class of people whom I was talking about earlier; I already posted saying that the actual forum cartel is not comprised of every last person sporting that title; the people I am talking about tend to post as a group, think with one mind and tend to post mostly flames and insults. Plus not all of them sport that title to begin with.

Its a mindset, not everyone wearing that title due to post count.

Anyone who would allow a six-year-old child to post in these forums really OUGHT to know better; this is not a place for children.

It is true that Ares is making mistakes here. That still does not excuse the behavior of most of the people provoking him. Two wrongs do not make a right, sorry.

Perhaps the relevant thing to take home here is that it is a mistake to be too open with one's Global.

And I personally have no desire to have "Forum Cartel" floating under my name, I can tell you. If and when my post count ever reflects that, I will be asking the mods to remove it; I have no desire to be even remotely connected with the negative connotations that come to mind any time its brought up.

that was you, right? no tangent. you assumed, i corrected

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I'll go further: CoX is rated for teens and up.

If you allow your child - mentally impaired or not - to either post on these boards OR engage in actual gameplay, he or she is most likely eventually going to see something you'd just as soon they hadn't seen. In case you have not gotten the message in this thread [if nowhere else...and heaven knows the places you could glean this info from are literally legion], hostile behavior is a thing engaged in by many denizens of CoX. In fact it can get pretty ugly in-game; I've seen it many times.

I would not let any young child of mine in the game unless I was teamed with them at all times, not to mention I'd keep them off of these forums. If you're doing that, good for you.

Now, you can keep flaming me for no reason, or you can own up to the fact that not everyone acts like an angel all the time, and you have little control over that - but you do have control over the child's actions; that's your decision. But I can tell you, going off on ME over something somebody else said is not gonna cut any ice with me.

I'm not having a war with you over someone else's insult. You're spoiling for a fight, but I'm not. I'm just telling it like it is. Have the nicest of all possible days.

No, you post actual discussion on a regular basis and seem to lack the Pack-of-hyenas-mentality so necessary to enter that clique. We don't always agree, but I can respect that.

And that is exactly what comes to mind when they get going: a bunch of cackling hyenas.

I'm not going to post a list or say anything else to clarify who they are; any notariety is good notariety to them; not interested in feeding that.

Have I just missed serious "Forum Cartel" talk in the last three years? The last time I saw anyone post about the insidious Forum Cartel and *mean* it was back in the CuppaJo days and the fallout from ED.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only people who think the Forum Cartel is important is... themselves.

"Forum Cartel" denotes the usual suspects. They think and post in a unilateral ideological block, usually an unpleasant, prone-to-dogpiling and snarky block at that.

Me, I outgrew cliques by about 5th grade, but I guess some people never do. Whatever makes them feel safe, I guess; some people need that "comfort zone" of their peers and some of us think that's a really cowardly, 5th-grade sort of a way to roll. *shrug*

    Ain't my problem.

Edit: I really should be clear that I do not view everyone with the Forum Cartel title under their names as members of this nasty little group of forumites aboout whom I am speaking. This is patently not the case; this is not a clique denoted by posting title, but is denoted by how one behaves in general.
  13. I understood your point to be "You personally are an insignificant speck about whose opinion the developers care not one jot nor tittle."

My rebuttal to that was, to wit: "I don't recall claiming that the developers DO care about my opinion, so this arrow sort of misses the mark."

The flip side is that this "speck" analysis also applies to you, and to probably most - if not all - of the rest of the playerbase as well, all 140,000+ strong. Its like two blackbirds calling each other insignificant, as they're perched on a tree with 140,000 other arguing members of the flock: all of them the same color - black.
  14. Well, that's what happens when our illustrious Forum Elite *snicker* comes in here and starts doing what they do; this does not encourage cooperation on the part of the dogiled.

    To the contrary.

Want politeness? Give it to get it. Our Forum Illuminati just never seem to grasp that, though. "I'll SNARK you into conceding my point of view!"

    Ooooooooooooooo-kay, that will work.

Lazy ignorant people think they NEED stamina

Lazy people just pick up stamina even though they KNOW its not needed, cuz they rather do an easy build than one that needs a bit of forethought

im a lazy person, i have 30 50s all with stamina, i could easily with IOs and Accolades make staminaless builds and be highly functional but that would require time and effort

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem is that you're one of the "Forumistas" and therefore suspect at best, and an irrational, reality-warping liar at worst. The only 2 "rational" people are Ares and B_I, and the rest of you, that is to say those who do not instantly agree with the only two rational people, are irrational liars whose own experiences are inherently less valid. (Incidentally, i find it interesting that to be rational you have to ignore any evidence that does not support your premise or change the conditions to exclude it.) Anyway, the only two rational people in this thread are better than the rest of you. The rest of you have consistently failed to make me constantly howl with laughter (literally) or facepalm (metaphorically) while reading this thread. Failures, all of you.

Offering clear, detailed suggestions makes posts tl;dr for those who are truly rational. Not taking an arrogant and dismissive tone the instant someone doesn't agree with you is also irrational. Using actual numbers and concrete examples? Irrational.

Become rational now, cast off those chains of not agreeing, lest ye go on to succeed doing it differently from the two truly rational posters in this entire forum. Oh, and CityLife. i'm pretty sure CityLife would qualify as rational by the standards of the two rational people here, so now we have three rational people to lead us, hallelujah!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kindly do not ascribe things I have never said to me, thanks.

And as far as "arrogant" and "dismissive," I'd like to see what you call practically every post in here since it was decided to dogpile Ares; really. Oh but wait! This behavior is perfectly ok!

Another forum truism: negative behaviors are only ok when performed by certain people. You're [among others, aka The Usual Suspects] in here just flaming and namecalling and insulting away, yet you expect this to be well-recieved by a chastened and humbled recipient. I have only this to say:

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, that'll happen, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

The ten minutes was a figure of speech; I've never actually held a stopwatch up to the screen when fighting an AV of any kind.

*cue dissolution of argument into "I can solo Romulus and all three nictus in 2 minutes, LOL!"

As Samuel said, I think the definition of "highly functional" is the problem. I think some people are calling being able to fire off three attacks in a row while teamed, "highly functional." That's not my definition.

My definition of "highly functional" is "able to stand there for ten minutes straight pounding on an AV such as Romulus + his Nictus pals, or the entire Freedumb Phalanx at once, without huffing, puffing, begging for blues, having all my toggles dropped, or any of the other bad things that occur when END bottoms out."

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's a pretty big spread you bring up there. Three attacks without Stamina, 10 minutes of non-stop action with it.

I had no idea a 50% increase in endurance recovery would give you a 5,000% increase in efficiency.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course Stamina is not the only factor in being able to stand up to an AV without having one's Endurance crash. It's a big one, though. Every time I look at someone who is having problems in situations like this, I pull up their power sheet and lo! They never have Fitness. Not much of a surprise, really.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Okay, now that I have ignored most of the people that are not referring to the topic, maybe I can make some sense of this. So back to the topic. I have noticed that it is harder to find a team compared to 4 months ago, and pvp has gone down. Why is that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

In many cases you have made a wise choice. One of your ignorees is one of the worst flamers on these forums, who has been Ignored by me since the first week I signed up. Others are not so bad really, but when they see a chance to dogpile, well.... they're not about to pass that up.

Some Forumistas here believe that one should only say things in a way that they find personally acceptable. Bah. Ridiculous.

As for teaming, I have not noticed that it is harder these days myself. Might be your server.

PvP has greatly decreased due to changes in i13. The effects of those changes has been greatly debated, with opinions being widely polarized. I mostly arena PvP, so its not that big of a deal to me, I despise open-zone PvP.

But the changes did screw up how I went about getting Shivans, and I am upset about that. C'est la vie.
