Quote:The proper answer is "get rid of it."No.
NO.
A HUNDRED BAZILLION GOOGOLPLEX TIMES NO!
KB is baked in as part of most of these powers' balance. Remove the mitigation of KB and what you have left are powers with no mitigation and substandard damage. And you STILL have various and sundry mental defectives weeping and raging over people who refuse to cripple themselves by turning KB off.
The proper answer isn't "get rid of if". The proper answer is "adapt, overcome". -
Quote:Thanks. I knew they were pulling the booster paks, but didn't know they were pulling Rogue too.It has to be level 10+ to send email but any level can receive email. Check the email options to make sure they aren't set to block.
edit:
Yep, almost all the stuff in the store has been removed.
I don;t know how I feel about this; I have a feeling I'll be able to pick and choose the costume parts I want... but still end up paying more for them. Hope I'm wrong.
I went and checked; everybody has email enabled everywhichway, but still can't email from my main account to new one. Think maybe I need to talk to Support. Thanks again. -
OK, I now have second account and its a couple of weeks old. I'm not doing much with it at the moment, and the highest level character on it is 11.
I cannot receive email on it. How old does the account have to be, to be able to global-email it?
[And good god, starting off new again.... NO vet-reward powers. NO freebie tailor stuff. NO prestige sprints. NOTHING! And I miss the blackwand, and all of my costume packs. Truly,I can't even find Going Rogue in the NCSoft store to upgrade it with! Being new again sucks.]

Quote:Yes, but the person to whom I was replying was implying that one reason people felt Keyes was not worth it, was because they lacked the coordination that Vent could bring.Vent is not required to successfully complete Keyes. It's not even necessary for Master of Keyes runs.
Bunch of people nattering on about nothing, was what I got out of my brief time experimenting with it. I listen to nonstop talk at work, I don't want to hear it in the game. Too many people love to hear themselves talk. WAY TOO MUCH. -
Quote:And this will continue to happen.
My only issue is this, is that people are deferring to the easiest and fastest trial just to accomplish their goals.
Making BAF, Lam and any other trials as much of an unenjoyable, curse-word-ridden, mass-of-headlong-lemmings debt-farm as Keyes is will not result in a sudden mass-education and reformation of the playerbase into playing how peole such as yourself, want them to play.
It would mean people would start ignoring Incarnate content.
Many of us find Keyes unenjoyable. Good luck trying to punish people who do, out of that viewpoint. If anyone should do any learning, it should be the developers. "Hmmmm.... they just are NOT running that, they don't seem to like that one. We probably should not do that again."
Vent is an immersion-breaking annoyance and distraction. Anything requiring Vent to do successfully is massive fail. -
Quote:They look like a modified Witch thigh-high to me.I'm hoping those aren't boots, just bottoms or bottoms with skin worn with standard boots. Barbarian high heels make no sense, but the character depicted doesn't look like a barbarian.
Barbarians don't look a thing like that anyways, esp. the female one, so I'm fine with it. I am looking forward to that belt, it loooks like a modified female Steampunk belt and I cant wait to get my hands on it.
Would also like an option to have the corset NOT have a furry top. More corsets are always needed. -
Yup! Merely entering the Haunted Mansion grants the player the Malleus badge, whether they like it or not.
[Sorry, couldn't resist.]
P.s. general question: are the Barbarian pieces included with the launch of the issue, or are these yet another thing we have to purchase separately/wait three years to get/are gated behind content? -
Quote:Never one time seen this work like that. It is particularly brainless on Lambda, where the players are split onto two different maps. You have no real choice but to charge out one at a time, and God help you if you don't have Invisibility - my Fire/kin doesn't, and eventually he just waited inside the facility near the elevators for the exit 'port. I hate debt-farming.There IS actually a purpose I can see to the hospital timer. Let's say you're having a particularly bad run. People are dropping, hitting the hospital, and running back out. The timer ensures that if the situation is REALLY bad, you at least aren't charging out one at a time, and getting picked off and sent back. Admittedly, this is something that, yes, players should be able to figure out and coordinate on their own, but hey... you know as well as I do, not everyone on a team is all that bright.
The hospital timer is another thing placed specifically to frustrate players, and for that reason I dislike it. During that 30 seconds my team is getting further and further away; eventually they get too far away to be able to reach. Unless I have Invis.... and most of my people do, but just saying.
As for someone else's comment about shields not helping much on Keyes, my Tank certainly found them useful. He died a lot less than the alt who ran the other Keyes, he was still hurting but it wasn't faceplant, faceplant, faceplant. Ugh. -
Quote:Try this on an alt with no healing powers and no shields, and get back to me... rhetorically speaking.Well I know the 2 toons that I have done Keyes with (I've possibly done it on 3 toons but can't remember)...I have self-healing powers (main is Kinetics and the other one I do it with is a mind/emp controller so pbaoe heal there plus RA/rebirth destiny powers).
You know you can buy more (green) inspirations from the hospital NPC inside right?
I am well aware that one can buy greens inside the hospital. Since on a squishy, each Death Pulse takes about 50% of my hit-points, I don't find greens exceptionally useful. I can get past the first few pulses, then I'm out of greens. The next pulse will kill my squishy. Guaranteed.
Needing to carry 50 greens in order to not be continually faceplanted is crap gameplay mechanics, in my opinion, and is yet another reason why I avoid this trial like the plague. I hate it. I have run it twice and never again, i don't care HOW many Emp merits they tack on. Crap. Gameplay. Not. Fun. -
-
Hate:
Spines.
Empathy.
Illusion.
Gravity.
Kheldians/Warshades.
All MM primaries except Demons, and even for those, I would be good with some toning down of the continual "AAAAAA-ROOOooOOOOOOoooOOOO!" So. Freaking. Annoying.
Quote:We're going to be able to block Ice shields in i21?!! How will we do that? Do we go to Null the Gull? [love that guy....]Someone else: You have no idea how much I loathe those darn ice shields. Ugliest thing in the game, and it's only made worse by the fact that USUALLY when I get them put on me, it's when I'm just standing around talking to someone. Totally not needed, and just plain griefing. I'll be sooooo happy when I can drop those shields in I21. -
Quote:Nicely said.more accurately many folks CAN play if they take the time to LEARN it. However the encounter in question is so unfun they don't want to bother.
Especially since there are things that are MORE fun that they can do to get the same or better rewards.
funny that.
AKA Keyes is not hard if you take the time to learn it. But for a majority of the player base that dreck isn't worth learning.
I could pull up a bunch of guides, study hard and learn Keyes from front to back. However I find it to be a waste of my hard-earned gaming-time to run this trial, since it is *NOT* enjoyable - and so it is not worth trying to memorize it. And LOL at someone else's idea that one can carry enough greens to negate the Death Pulses. Yeah, not hardly. I guess some people have Incarnate Inspiration trays that hold 50 Inspirations or more.
Meh. -
Quote:Of course I don't know how! I completely ignore that teammate who has journeyed over to the hospital door with the specific intention of providing a "healing umbrella" for me so that I won't die again as I try to rejoin my team.Yup and apparently you don't know how to stay with a healing umbrella to negate the pulse or look at an info window that gives you time to get out before big green patch of death hits.
.... or wait, I *don't* have a "healing umbrella" waiting to escort me back, so your argument is null. Ditto the fact that I have to move around to avoid various effects in the final AV fight.
It is awesome for you that you evidently have someone with a powerful and fast heal joined to you at the hip, Siamese-twin style who is escorting you personally through Keyes. The rest of us who lack this luxury will just go run something else, most likely. -
Quote:A big problem for Keyes is that even with the Empyrean bump, there's other ways to get Empyreans. And in fact, those other ways are faster!
Uber: Right now, I figure Keyes would have to be worth at least three Empyrean Merits for me to try and run it. I would not run it more than once a day - I would try to complete it for the Empyreans and then run Lambdas and BAFs for component drops (and of course, a couple more Empyrean Merits).
Quote:Teldon: OK I am just gonna come out and say it. This trial is only hard because 90% of the player base is to damn lazy to pay attention to the info bar and/or follow instructions. This trial is easy if you pay attention.
Quote:Also if you are to damn stupid to not notice a HUGE GLOWING GREEN PATCH on the ground you deserve to be hit by it. -
Quote:"Hard stuff because it is hard."Keyes to me is the anomaly of the Trials and TF's thus far. There's usually a period of requisite byotching once something new comes live, and then three-four weeks later, we're getting tells for speed runs and duo runs.
Keyes isn't like that . Its much harder to crack. The coordination level is much more difficult, and teamwork is an absolute must.
So, in that vein, I would not recommend a change to the Trial. Hard stuff is hard because it is hard. What I WOULD recommend is a commensurate reward . People run BAF's and LAM's b/c they can be done in their sleep at this point. Keyes needs red bull and caffene. So if you want to see more peeps attempt the Trial, more carrot . Don't do anything with the stick.
This is where we differ. I can deal with a trial or TF that is strategically difficult. But I don't see any benefit to repeatedly getting 50 feet from the hospital door and then instantly killed. Rez in the hospital, wash-rinse-repeat.
There's no way I can avoid that, unless I am on a heavily shielded character. There is no strategy whatsoever that a [for instance] Blaster can use to avoid the Death Pulses. That does not make me play any smarter, it doesn't do a thing but frustrate me and cause me to rack up debt. If you are on anything except an alt with a powerful Heal or an alt with his shields [and everything else] IO'ed out, you are in for a very painful time.
The end AV fight is just laughably stupid. Its stupid! There, I said it. Stupid.
Judging from the dearth of people lining up to participate in this abysmally un-fun excuse for a trial, it seems that many players agree. -
Almost as frustrating: getting out the hospital door, and getting no further than 50 feet away from the door when one is killed YET AGAIN. This can happen multiple times.
After about four of those, my incentive to even try to help my team is just about gone. This trial is *all about* intentional frustration of the player, and that is just not enjoyable.
I can deal with difficulty, such as the Apex TF which by now is easy for me. Keyes is just crap, and yeah.... just... crap. -
Quote:Had someone do this to me the other day, only they recruited for BAF and we sudddenly wound up running Lambda.
Wendy: 1. League leader sat in the rwz and advertised he was recruiting for a BAF. I was looking to join one to get my daily dose of Empyrean goodness so I sent a tell and joined. As we recruited the final few members a TANK made a comment about how "HE" wished we were doing the Keyes Trial. Next thing I know we are queued up and I didn't notice until I hit the green confirm button but suddenly we are headed into the Keyes trial and poof we are teleporting. As soon as we arrived I quit the team and one starred the leader. Don't LIE to me to get me on your team and then expect me to just blindly do whatever. Way too many league form every day for anyone to have to put up with that.. BTW about 4 other members of that same league quit and wound up on the BAFIi joined shortly afterwards.
The next time it happens, I'm quitting. Lying to me about Keyes will get the leader one-starred. -
Quote:The fact that no one is interested should tell you volumes, just in and of itself.I'm still hoping that, when the rewards are upped, I can find someone that wants to run it. I had one nibble here on the boards, but it evaporated.
I have yet to run *one* Keyes. Tons of BAFs and Lambdas, but not a single Keyes. No one is interested.
At this point, I think the only way the developers will increase activity on Keyes would be to actually remove BAF and Lambda from the game. That would in essence FORCE people to run the newer trials. [Not saying the developers will actually do that, just as a for-instance]. I am very hopeful that the new trials will not be as horrible as Keyes, really really hoping a LOT.
If they are as bad, look for lots of continued BAF/Lam teams and the shunning of the newer content. People like new, but if the new is not any fun they'll stick with the quick way, and you can take that basic fact of human nature to the bank. Being Held and/or killed in the hospital is one of the least-fun game mechanics I have yet to run across. -
This. I don't care if they up the Empyreans to 10 per run, I am STILL not running this. I will not form a league to run it, I will not join leagues to run it.
Its crap gameplay mechanics in my opinion, and I am not validating it by spending time on it. Not fun, not even very profitable: I'm out. -
*Looks at screenies* Hmmm. Yes, the firey one I have seen in-game, it was really nice. [And wow, do I hate the boots that go with that set, the round toe is just awful...] But that backpiece is really nice.
The backpiece my OP was about is not shown though, its hard to describe. This strange, spiky metallic thing. Awesome.
It is true that points are not an actual currency.... except they sort of are. I also take issue with the fact that there I was cruising through the in-game store, and these pieces were completely invisible. I think they should be pictured, along with notation of what the player will need to get their hands on them. How else will people know how to work toward that goal? It had me confused as a +6 year veteran.
I am also a little concerned about the effect that "oh, you have to wait seven years to get that piece you want" will have. It won't take me seven years, but it will for new people who dont want to spend a lot of real-world money and that is sort of... not cool. Gate this and that, sure but seven years?! Sheesh. -
After a little searching around, I am more confused than ever.
Just what we needed, a new currency in the game! [Tiers, points etc.] Outstanding! I hope every issue from now on includes at least one new form of currency, and two or three more would be even better. *headdesk*
Can you imagine HOW confusing this would all be to someone new to the game? Seriously. Back when I was new, I was doing good to get Infamy down pat, lol.
Oh well. I'll get a pencil, paper and a spreadsheet and figure all this out later. Eventually I will get that backpiece. Thanks for replies, all. -
Quote:Uhhhh..... no. In no way, shape or form.Probably this, from the Steampunk Pack.
The Celestial VIP pack sounds more likely. Now, to find out how I get my hands on THAT. Just saw someone in Atlas with what looked like a rainbow arced behind his head. Hmmmm. -
As a very costume-centric person, perhaps the most notable thing I saw on a recent run through the new tutorial zone was a player-created character who was sporting an ornate silver backpiece of the stand-up-collar type. That thing was BIG. It looked like something a Carnie or a CoT Mage would wear.
When asked, the person wearing it said it was a "backpack." I see nothing like it in the [test] game, what was it that I was seeing? And where do I get one? -

me: *derision* Quote:And this is why I end up not giving a damn if people like you have fun in the trial or not. I guess I should know by now that despite your weak grasp of basic facts, learning isn't as important to you as being nasty. Optimism trumped again I guess.
Quote:People here are trying to help you. Yet you've already decided your way of feeling about the trial is right and they're not, and respond to them with negative emotion.
Quote:You don't care to be bothered to read a guide, and you can't be bothered to read and follow instructions during the raid itself, and somehow both these things are the game's fault.
The point of this thread was to provide feedback as to why 100 things going on at once is maybe not such a great idea for future trials. Even if successful, Keyes is the least-fun thing I have done in this game, in many a long day. I have no intention of running Keyes again, and so I don't have a horse in this race. Good day to you, sir! -
Interesting replies. Without quoting here, there and everywhere, here are my concerns:
*Great idea about pulling up this and that guide to get through the trial; were I interested in pursuing Keyes further, I'd give 'em a shot. However, I cannot help but feel that a trial that requires a primer or three to get through is sort of.... fail.
*LAWL on being Held IN THE HOSPITAL. For freaking real.... lol. Its not enough we have a 20-second gating to contend with; let's Hold the players too, in case the ten-second access is up when they rez! Yeah.... we need to hold them in the hospital LONGER, oooohhhhhhh yeeeaaaaah. Great idea.
*derision*
*I did manage to see the notice about not hitting Anti-Matter to avoid the Green Pulses of Doom. I promise you, I was too busy trying not to die to see any further pronouncements. They may have been there, but I didnt see them. And that wasn't because I'm a stupid person, this thing is just sheer unpleasant chaos from the instant you zone in.
*tying Very Rares to Keyes and the Underground trial? Sure hope Underground is a lot more fun than Keyes! I'll be honest, if every completion of Keyes gave out a 100% chance of a rare PvP IO recipe, I'd still have to think a lot about running it again.
I don't like Keyes, and I have no intention of cooperating with the developers trying to force me to do something I hate. In this case I will advance as far as possible, and just forget about abilities requiring VR to craft.
*"Dodge the disintergration ray!" [this was said today during the run.] Dodge it?! I never saw where it was coming from to begin with! How can you dodge anywhere when you have eaten all your BFs trying to get out of being alpha- or beta-held, only to be held yet again? [It takes about 3 regular BFs to break out of that, as I recall.]
I can't remember the time I had as little fun in the game, as I have on Keyes trials. Ugh.
Quote:There is a reason for that, and you can trust me on this one.someone: I play on Champion (mostly). I'd love to run Keyes but I've never seen one run. BAFs and Lambda, zillions. Haven't managed to get interest in starting one either. Very bumbed.
