Drain Psyche seems to win out here. Pop-a-blue powers aren't so bad, esp. Power Sink since it's auto-hit. The best recovery tools are paired with good mitigation as well, so other than arresting everyone in the nuke blast, a mag-3 stun like in Dreadful Wail can give you the time Drain Psyche or even a pop-a-blue needs to get you back to a decent-sized blue bar.

I'm trying to find out the amount by which your defense bonus is suppressed when attacked while using Stealth. The description says "some", but the Real Numbers and City of Data suggest you lose all of it. I'd love some clarification, folks! Thanks in advance! -

I appreciate your input! I've worked in a few ideas from you folks in here. Let's say that what I've got below is an ideal respec build (one day I WILL own a LOTG) I tried to work in a tiny bit more +recovery, but I have a feeling that it won't make a lick of difference on my endurance usage. I'm not complaining too badly -- my friend (Spines/Invul) and I hit 27 last night and there's enough blues between the both of us. Plus, I tend to pace myself in terms of casting powers.
But, if there's any way I can work on the endurance efficiency, that'd be hot. Right now, I only run Snow Storm if we need to throw the kitchen sink at the mobs or if they're packed in like sardines.

Hiya,
My first foray into controller-ing past level 20! I duo exclusively with my friend who plays a Spines/Invuln scrapper and am basically just slotting my Ice/Cold/Ice as needed. I'd like to put a bit of foresight into the build, but I'm at a loss as to what I should be aiming for. Ranged defense? Recharge?

Hi All,
SEVERE case of altitis after taking my SD/WM tank to 50, decided to try this combination out. Below is a PvE leveling build, with IO slotting based on my average patience on the market and AE ticket rolls. I don't intend to make a hot rod here, but I'd like to handle +0/x4-x6 without too many problems.
I've been reading here and there that /Regen builds should shoot for +recharge, and some +defense (specifically melee to 25-33%ish). I managed nothing spectacular here with DocWounds and Crushing Impacts for +rech and melee defense isn't anything great. Given that, I wanted to pick your collective brain about how I could improve this build without breaking the bank. You may choose to inspire me to be more patient as well, hehe.
Difficulty:
(1) Needs all DB powers, minus Confront.
(2) More or less should remain a leveling build.
(3) No purples or 100mil globals.
Bonus:
I might be able to take *two* of the hot-commodity globals (Numina, Miracle, Perf Shifter, Regen Tissue, LOTG), depending on how some trades with my friends go :-).

Hey, I've got a DB/EnA (yes, yes, lolDBEna). I decided I'd use all the combos, and for me, it's simply more fun to have buttons to press (I'm that kind of player). If anything, you could probably drop Weaken (meaning drop Nimble Slash), but it does add another level of defense with the -to hit, but I'm not sure about the numbers.
If anything, Nimble Slash gives you another place to slot Kinetic Combats to help you softcap S/L. -
Which ones on Blueside do you folks use often? Do you have a pattern? And, what character do you run your Oro missions with?

Hi All,
Picked up Shatter yesterday on my SD/WM and was reading through the "real numbers". It looks like Sands of Mu is more efficient (DPE) and more damaging on average and per activation than Shatter. Granted, I haven't slotted the thing up (6 Multistrikes) and Sands is not affected by damage buff powers, but this made me wonder whether or not I should just stick with Sands and dump Shatter or if I can rely on Shatter in the long run.
What do you all think? What's your experience been? -

I think that's the last word! I was able to adjust from your template to fit what I'd play (no Hasten, w/ Psychic Scream and WoC). I was able to fit in both Combat Jumping and Hover in case I wanted to dive in or fly above. Now let's see if either of us doesn't get too bored or busy to actually fill these builds out! -

Hello,
I'm a glutton for punishment, so I rolled an ElA/Ice this weekend. Pretty challenging, but I like my costume, so let's give this a go; I'm trying to get to the S/L softcap.
What you have below is a build I think that is within my ebil marketer ken (no pvp uniques, etc). My concern is that there's some creative slotting that is cringe-worthy. I'm hoping to see if you guys could find a better way.
Current totals is S/L def 45.6%
Difficulty: PvE only, no Hasten, no PvP uniques or purple sets.

A good way to get S/L I haven't seen mentioned specifically in this thread is kinetic combats in melee attacks. It's only 4 slots and very much worth throwing 3 slots in a mule you'll never use. I even have brawl slotted in my fire/mm toon.
Conceivably, Katten, you could take Stealth instead of Hoarfrost for defense, though it still wouldn't get you to 45%. It might be smarter to think that you'll have killed everyone before they can take advantage of your defensive holes. -

You can see the qualitative difference between 40% and 45% pretty easily. The difference between what you have in 37% and 45% is huge.
That does mean that you will have some encounters where the S/L defense won't be any good at all, but that doesn't mean you're helpless in that situation since you can still blast, apply mezzes and use soft controls.
Let's try to get to 45% and see what the upsides and downsides are. -
Here's a speculative respec build for a Rad/Mental. built with a regular IO-conscious PvE player in mind. Let's call it a "template" for our discussion here -- I'd love to see what we could move around and fix up -- pricer versions, lower end versions, etc.
With this build, S/L defense is at 36.9%, with some added E/N defense at 22.1%, melee at 28.9%, and ranged at 24.9%. Sacrifices damage in Neutrino Bolt, maybe more generally, but seems solid enough for most PvE non-farm play. Expensive stuff is kept to a moderate level (just a couple Oblit sets, purple confuse set is usually cheap, Blessings can be had with some effort, etc).

GREAT guide! This was amazing!
One thing you could suggest as an option: Multi-Strike is a great, accessible set, but for Shield Charge, you might offer the choice of a set with more recharge. -

IIRC, the Stalker dual blades 1K Cuts is a longer cone than the Scrapper version.
