  1. Well we could go over the finer points of slotting defender but the quick dirty solution to your problem of not being able to kill anything is this: replace all the defense debuff in your secondaries and with damage. Your primary already does defense debuff and your secondaries all have some as well. Your piling on so much extra that after an alpha from you a level 1 should probably be able to hit a level 50 paragon protector with mog.

defense debuff only makes the bad guys easier to hit, it doesn't kill them any quicker.
  2. Dark Miasma as a controller secondary? take out the heal and the rez and add an immobilize and an aoe hold it would be a controller primary.

I already play my dark/dark/dark defender like he's controller, A controller with dark miasma as a secondary would be too crazy. I already play a mind/trick and he can pretty much lock down almost anything in the game... Mind/dark would have similar hold abilities + a nice heal and a awesome rez to boot!

What the hell screwed up definition of "save the team" do you have?

If people stop dying you've saved the team.

What he did is the same as a mind controller running TK in order to thin out the incoming fire. Probably more reliable since TK is a pain in the *** to use but it works if you know what your doing. If the health bars stop turning red you've done your job. I'll play my mind controller all day andussually never use TK because it's a OH CRAP! button, but if I hit it and someone gives me grief for it i'll quit the team on the spot. I have a solid SG of good players i can play with I don't need some PUG group leader telling me how to do my job.

The tank is the first line of defense the defender/controller is the last line. A defender should be an insurance policy, only used if things go way wrong. If your a good tank a defender can just sit back and blast and have an easy day of it. If your a crappy tank don't tell me how i'm suppose to do my job.

Like others, I'm also wondering what "voice font" is. Does that mean we can add distortion to make ourselves sound more like our characters? This would be interesting...

That's exactly what it is. i heard an interview about a year ago with someone from vivox as they were talking about the next edition of dungeons and dragons (the pen and paper game) would have a online component that would allow the game to be played through computers and would use vivox voice technology. He said that sound fonts would allow the dungeon master to make his voice sound anyway he wanted orc, woman, monster, etc thereby enhancing the immersion.

Using this technology that hot, scantily clad empathy defender won't sound like darth vader.
  5. given where this thread is gonig i suppose you have to define what is overpowered?

ill and fire are very powerful more so than any of the other controllers. But we're not the ultimate soloists that everyone gives us credit for. I've seen a spines/regen scrapper run through the dock of PI aggroing groups of +3 nemesis, when He's collected a couple of dozen he turns around and wipes the floor with them... I can't do that... at best I might do slightly less than half of that... if I'm carefull.

another occasion on a mission a large group of those nemesis spider things (jaegers right?) met us a the elevators and in one salvo wiped out the entire team, except the invuln tank who wasn't at all effected. He then beat up every last of them so we could rez.

the controller AT starts out as the 5th best soloist out of 5 AT's. post 32 we become 3rd best soloists. some controller builds are better than others but overall we're not the top soloists even under prime conditions. Unless it's written in stone somewhere that controllers must be the worst soloists I see no real reason to nerf.

Bottom line is the last 12 levels have been the best fun I've had in this game so far.
  6. cryptic is very good name for this company.

controllers are balanced! they're equal parts frustration and joy. pre 32 your written off as a gimped defender yet at the same time your more group dependant than a real defender. post 32 your a self contained group that can solo a dozen oranges/reds at a time.

even though i'm long past the frustration stage I would be willing to have my controller nerfed somewhat if it meant making a trade off so the first 32 levels wouldn't be such hell! that way i might entertain starting another controller maybe grav or earth. as big a booster as I am of controller's... I'd never be able to handle crap I had to go through the first time.
