There's also the issue with people on the Scrapper team running taunt auras, and pulling aggro from the Tankers. That's why I remind people to turn them off, but you know, lolreading.

Sorry it was so rough on you guys.
  2. Thanks to Philly for taking up the leadership post and getting a raid going last night. I'm not sure what you mean by "interesting," but if someone wants to PM me about it (in case it's dramatastic), that would be fine.

I am feeling better, and I thank everyone who sent me PMs and e-mails. I never know when I'm going to get those migraines, but they leave me incapable of doing anything for a while. Fortunately, I hadn't had one in a long time, but unfortunately this one struck when I had things I wanted to do. It's just my luck.
  3. Hey guys, just a quick FYI. I'm going to have to cancel tonight's raid because I have an incapacitating migraine. I need to take my medicine and lay down, and I have no guarantee that I'll feel well enough to lead a raid by the time it's supposed to start.

If someone could change the MoTDs in JFA and JU I would appreciate it very much.

Again, sorry to do this to you all.
  4. Just a reminder of tonight's raid. As always:

Please bring EoE if you have it. There's no telling if the monster phase will be long enough to get a sufficient amount.

Be prepared for the Hive to lock out at 8:30. This has been happening a lot.

If you are interested in a leadership position, please let me know.

In addition to that, it should probably mention the Justice Sat Mat channel, and how joining it makes it easier for you to get teams together.

Yes, that's fine. Thank you for doing it.

Yes, and sorry for not posing it sooner. Been a crazy busy day.

EoE farming tonight in PI, 6pm eastern.

Yes, that. I haven't started a new hero in Atlas in years, and don't intend to start again.

I do, however, agree that starting content needs to be more exciting. I also agree that villains need the same alternate leveling paths that heroes have. I'd love to see Croatoa/Striga/Faultline type zones for villains.
  10. For me, they're going to have to get out of a couple long-held, but short-sighted, mindsets.

The first one is that "villains are active, heroes are reactive." On the whole, and in very general terms, this may be true. However, if this is how the content always plays out, and so far it is, some people are going to get bored. For example, I would love to see heroes have something like Mayhem Missions where they go into the Rogue Isles looking for information, or shutting down a weapons plant, etc., and along the way helping people get out of there. This would also set up a Safeguard-like mission for villains that also takes place in the Rogue Isles where they try to stop this, for self-preservation reasons. There are plenty of opportunities, especially with new, more neutral factions coming, for this kind of thing to happen.

(And please don't tell me "Heroes have Safeguard Missions," because while that is true, they are in no way comparable to Mayhems save for the fact that they take place in Paragon City. Safeguard missions are about as enjoyable as watching paint dry.)

The second mindset that needs to go, and the one that really annoys me, is "revamped content isn't new content." How on Earth is it not? If you have dead, empty zones no one uses, when you could have revamped zones that people do (Hello, Faultline and RWZ), how is that a benefit to the game? When new players join, and they see these desolate places and ask why no one goes there, how does that look good for us? While brand new zones like Cim and Ouro are awesome, I would be be happier if the rest of the game was usable and enjoyable.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game. I have been here five and a half years and will be here until they shut the servers down. But I feel there is a lot of squandered potential that could be tapped into by changing how they look at the game.
  11. To quote a movie I like:

"I'm sorry the Cohen brothers don't direct the p0rn I watch."
  12. Just a reminder that we have a hero side Hami Raid tonight at 9pm eastern. Please show up early, and bring EoE if you have it. Since Hami spawns at random, there's no guarantee that we'll have enough EoE drop during monster clearing.

If you're interested in a leadership position, please contact me in game.

    Thanks!

I can only answer for myself here, but I honestly don't know what I'm going to be doing on Saturday nights from week to week. While what you're doing sounds like fun, I not only don't have any slots open on Justice, but I'm waiting for Going Rogue to go live before I make any new characters to level from level 1. Right now I'm focusing on my higher level characters, getting them to 50, and getting their badges.

If you ever need/want help with your missions, please look me up in game @ArwenDarkblade and I'll be more than happy to jump in from time to time. But I can't commit to running with you every week.

    Good luck, and have fun!
  14. I'm pretty sure that the free tokens were given because the pay service was borked for a while. They have a history of giving free tokens when services break, like in I4 when there were rampant costume issues.

  16. Again, great feedback guys!

Thanks for the info on Granite. It has always felt unnecessary to me, and even detrimental, as I imagine the -recharge would keep you from being as effective a taunter as you could be. Rooted seems more than adequate by itself. After all, I only run Unyielding and don't get mezzed.

I, too, am perfectly ok with the Tanks going back after the greens and blues are down. If the Yellow Aggro team can be built to have their own buffers/healers (I like one Emp and one Kin, personally), then they could do their own thing and get ready for the spawns. It also helps to have your support members hang on to EoE (though they should use them as well during the initial bloom until aggro is established).

Do we want to try this tactic next Monday?
  17. Sorry I missed your raid, Enri, but I didn't get home until nearly 10pm. I'm also not going to make any Thursday night raids until after February 4th.

Humor aside, you bring up a good point. I have never understood the need to RP in a video game, considering that nearly everything about your character, your mission/quest, and your environment are given to you. And now that we have AE, you can even write your own missions, expanding the rich content we already have.

We also have PvP, so need to do dice roll type fighting. Or in their case "nu huh/uh huh" type fighting. You can even PvP right in Pocket D, so no need to leave your RP area.

Now, I've always enjoyed teaming with Plucky's Malevolant because of how he plays in character. Ditto for Doug the Troll. Ditto for some others. And we all RP to a certain extent, especially if you have a well thought out back story, or theme, etc.
  19. Since Hami's damage is unresistable and always hits, I'm not understanding the argument that Granite Tanks somehow handle it better. Care to explain?

I agree, however, with the distribution of EoE, which is why I'm offering to lead EoE farming nights, and why I have been asking folks to show up with some before hand (if they can, of course).

I know I was a bit late with the buffs/Tanks out! call and will give more time next time. I had an inordinate amount of tells and had a new raider on my team. I'm going to start directing more of that kind of stuff to Phantom (who brings Nurseferatu to the raids) so I can watch Hami better. Again, I appreciate everyone's patience and feedback as I get back in the saddle.

A question - during the Hami phase, couldn't the Tanks redistribute EoE then? It might be hard on the 75% bloom, as it comes fast, but might work for the others.
  20. Thank you all for your feedback. I'll have a more in-depth response tomorrow, as I started feeling sick on my way home and am going to go lay down for a bit.
  21. I don't understand why they pretend to fight in Pocket D when there are Arena terminals there where they can do it for real. I thought RPing existed to make up for mechanics in game that don't exist.

That thread made my head hurt. It's like they play an entirely different game than I have been for all these years. And I must say that I like mine far better.
  22. Thanks to everyone who came out to tonight's raid, and particularly Enri, Jenny Lewis, and Hard Rock One for leading teams. We were doing ok until the last bloom, and HRO had one tank get defeated, and another DC. It all kind of went to hell in a handbasket after that, but we managed to regroup, rebuff, and finish with no problem. Thank you all so much for hanging in there and being such good sports about the whole thing!

So, now I need to know from you guys if you like doing no retreat or not. It's my personal favorite, but I'm not inflexible.

One thing we need to start doing is regular EoE farming. I'm thinking Fridays at 6pm eastern. Tonight's raid completely wiped me out of EoEs, so I need some myself.

If this is good for the majority of you, I'll make a separate post about it to get the attention of others.

    Again, thanks everyone!
