  1. just so i understand... the aura's only effect your pets. if i slot them into my fire imps, then the imps get +res/def while they are close to me. but my toon does not get any res/def boost?

    is mids broken?

ok, i feel stupid now. when did 'run as administrator' become part of the right click menu options!?! last time i installed mids, windows just prompted me for permission. guess i should have picked up on the fact that it wasn't asking me for permission this time. OW... :/ thanks for the help.

    is mids broken?

i did a reinstall of my OS (win7 64) and when i went to install mids, it won't unpack. i have tried downloading it a few times from diff sites. is mids broken or something? was running just fine b4 i re-did the OS. i've been on win7 64 bit since shortly after it was launched last year and had no issue with mids till now. any tips?

I would like to know why we can't have the choice of either a number of merits or a random roll for a rare recipe at the end of a TF/SF.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Synapse answered this in post #2 of this thread.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Poster: macskull
    Q:
What is the intent and purpose of the merit system? Originally it seemed intended to be an alternate, additional, avenue for those who did not wish to use the market, or for a deterministic way to get a recipe you wanted. Now it seems like it's replacing the current system instead of adding onto it.

A: The basic intent for the Merit Reward system is to more accurately reward players for their time invested doing missions. Ultimately, what it came down to is that not all Task Forces and Strike Forces were created equal. Some take 30 minutes, some can take upwards of 10 hours. The fact that all of these Task Forces had been granting the same reward made us realize we needed to incorporate time into the reward equation. ThatÂ’s essentially where Merits came in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The devs wanted everyone to get more recipe drop reward from doing a long TF than from doing a short TF. If they left the system as "random recipe or X merits", then only players saving to buy specific recipes would get more reward from longer TFs. Players taking random rolls would get the same reward from long TFs as from short TFs. The devs didn't want it to work that way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

so use the data mining and add purples as a seperate drop pool on tf's that avg over 4 hours.
  5. maybe turn the second team into a red side team? every good hero needs a good villian

after all, crey's not just gonna stand back and let these heroes run rough shod over all their plans. i'm willing to bet they know a few folks who are only too happy to offer their super powers to the highest bidder....

might i mention that my scruples are for sale.... MuaHahahahaha!!!
  6. well, looks like this team is set and ready to roll. wish i had posted faster since the timing is perfect for my schedule (i have tuesdays off) but, i am an optimist with a snazzy pair of rose colored glasses, so i will post anyway.

very intriged with the concept and would love to jump on if a spot opens. i have a couple ideas for a character, but i'll leave it there unless called on.

if anyone else would like to start another static team like this one, on tues or wed nights, leme know. for now, GL to the team and i hope u have a lot of fun

double xp one day during the week would be nice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Points to Friday...

Or am I really mis-reading that Lucas ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Word.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He may have meant one day...each week.

    [/ QUOTE ]

i think he meant the days that are not part of the traditional w/e (fri night, all sat, most of sun - then off to bed early sun night for work mon). for instance, my "w/e" is tues and wed. so i will miss the bulk of double xp. and no, i can't just ask for those days off. nature of the business i'm in so i agree, a double xp week would be nice... or maybe a double xp token that could be activated at the time u choose; like a freespec, but account based rather than toon based. good for 48 hours of real time once clicked.

OMG! Maybe there will be double rep points for PvP!

Oh wait thats right... nobody cares.

    [/ QUOTE ]

i care... double xp and inf is all very well. but the true question is will everything be turned up? double merits? double rep points? a doubling of the drop rate for recips and salvage? these are the important questions imnsho
  9. "smooth out the leveling curve" ??? possible hint at upping the max lvl and adding new end game content?? PWEEZ!!!!
  10. just to add to the debate, soft load the "security chief?" mish. have the tank go in alone. the chiefs will be in 2 or 3 man mobs. most tanks (or any good farmer really) can drop the chief solo (don't worry about his buddies, if u have aoe and can take them with the chief great, if not then just ignore them) and move on till the key is found and then survive the small ambushes that chase you into the door. even if u have to take out 8-9 chiefs to find the key, u should be able to get it done in about 5 min. by then the team should be reloading to help clear up the chasing ambushes.

also (here comes the anger) if u have 2 good rads (3 is optimal - good storm trollers work also) you can pull all 4 av's at once. put the debuffs on GW (switch them to BS after she goes down), keep them bunched tight together, keep the tanker buffed since he will be in melee range of GW, and take them in this order - GW, then scirocco, then mako, then BS. no pets except decoys till gw is down. yeah, i know people are tired of hearing "u need rads." u don't need them, but if u are in a PuG and don't want to take more than 2 hours.. u need them.

    that's my take
  11. yes a 500 pound woman would possibly have the strength to lift a car on a surge of adrenalin. what about a 100 pound woman? i've heard the notions that adrenalin would be enough in that case too, but they just don't make sense. to put it another way, a floor jack rated for 2 tons can probably lift 5, but it's not lifting a semi no matter how good the seals are.

as for philosofical undeniable truths, i am not a doctor of philosophy. i'm not even a college graduate. i stuck to what i know. i do believe that it is undeniable that humans are just becoming aware of their true potential and it is medicine and physics that are revealing this more than philosophy and theology. in the long run, all four of those things will have to come together into one for us to continue growing. this thread has been an intresting informal attempt at such (it's true frim my point of view, thus that is true; yes?)

i have heard about some areas of math and physics where 1+1=3 and the like, but it was in passing a long time ago and know no more, so i left it to others to bring up. i hope someone who does understand that and can explain it will post. though now that our minds are focused on this we will all probably see the explaintion somewhere in our seperate near futures.
  12. hukd on fonix werkd 4 me. other than proper capitalization, i try to get the grammer right. but it seems that your minds are powerful enough to get the point.

i seek not complexity, but the opposite. there is mounting evidence that says your mind is able to see a short distance into the furture at a subconcious lvl. the trouble is bringing that up to the concious lvl. you probably cannot affect the numbers that come up in the lottery, but theoretically you should be able to pick the numbers that are going to come up. if you want to wake up next to a bikini model, go to bed with one. with a simple ignition source you can blow fire from your [censored]. thus your body is capable of blowing fire from your lungs, it's just not built for it.

we've all heard the stories of 100 pound women picking up cars to free loved ones. when asked afterwards they always say the same thing... they didn't think about it, they just knew it had to be done so they did it. had they stopped to think they would have limited themselves. in the moment their minds were so focused that their conciousness overcame the colective conciousness and thus they were no longer bound by our beliefs. in a slightly less extreme example, studys have shown that at times race car drivers forget to breathe when there are on the limit. literally... for some reason the brain stem's processes are rated by priority. when needed, some autonomic systems are overidden by the rest of the mind when that (for lack of a better term) processing power is needed for other things. in other recent studys, they have discovered a neural network intertwined with the intestines. when u have a gut feeling, that is that network ramping up to speed and working together with the brain on some problem. when i asked, 'do you believe in what u believe,' i was not proposing circular logic. we all believe in gravity, none of us think about it unless we are studying it. what if we all believed just as deply that we can simply ignore gravity at will? to understand that we first need to understand belief.

personality is an artifact of emotion. the universe does not get happy or sad, ect. it is sentience void of emotion. a thing either is or isn't and all is possible. imagine you are floating in a pool. you can apply your sentience to the confederation of single celled organisms that make up your body and propell yourself in any direction. to the quantum field this is no different than applying your sentience to the water and propelling it around u. at the lvl of the quantum field you and the water are not different things.

electrons are made up of quarks and gluons, which in turn appear to be made of strings.

seintience is not simply a matter of brain power. who is more sentient, you or rain man? who's brain is more powerfull and on what scale? is it relivant?

in the ancient times there were 4 elements. now there is only 1. all matter is just frozen energy. thus energy is the only element in the univers frozen into infinate crystalin shapes
  13. i think i see a science themed sg in the offing ever stop to consider that the phrase, "i think therefore i am." might be backwards?

down is the direction which leads to the center of the closest and strongest gravity well to the observer - that is an infalible truth.

why is your time limited? every cell in your body is replaced every few months. theoretically there is no reason why your body should degrade because of this process. and if it did, just go pay the emp.

it's not my perception of the environment that intrests me, it's the environments perceptions of me. i saw once that observation by a concious observer collapses the wave/particle duality connundrum in the infamous double slit experiment. i'm willing to assume that the answer to this observation is that the quantum field was aware of the observers, and thus acted according to what they expected to find. in this case, they fired a single stream of photons, so logically you would expect to see photons hit the double slit and target beyond, not waves. removing the closer scrutiny results in the field being thrown back into flux and so the duality problem reappears. concious, self aware observation was the ony difference. all that is a really long winded way of restating, "seek and yee shall find."
  14. [ QUOTE ]

It is also observable that all living things are made up of the same parts and additional parts. Simply put we can easily perceive the physical, energy, and mental parts of a being. The energy simply being the transitory state linking mental and physical. It would be easy to assume that they might all be extensions of physical being.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    i think i understand what you're saying.. here's how i would put it;

It is also observable that all living things are made up of the same part. entanglement is a proven law of quantum physics; all energy in the universe was part of a singularity at the moment of the big bang; thus e pluribus unum. all matter is simply frozen energy [E=m(cc)]. mental energy is the tiny fragment of the universe's energy that is seperatly self aware. Simply put we can easily perceive the physical, energy, and mental parts of a being. The mental simply being the transitory state linking energy and physical.

    to which i add;

you are your only authority; question authority.

do you believe in what u believe?

are u aware that the universe is aware of u?
  15. anyone have an idea as to what they plan to do first with the new powersets? i already have a toon planned to try out the willpower set. gonna make a willpower / ss tank. seems like the most logical, thematic combo. i mean, who doesn't agree that it takes great willpower to train to become a true strongman? just an idea. dunno about dual blades, but i haven't played any scrappers yet.
  16. well, someone has to be first... looks like it will be me. i11 does not get my juices going. yeah, the flashback system will be great. other than that... bleh first.. STILL no COP. second.. RARER DROPS!!! u mean even more rare than the LOTG set that costs roughly 100 mil if you can't get one to drop (i have gotten all the wings at least once; even a few clearity +stealth; and one aegis psi status res... not one LOTG yet) i can only hope that this is a sign from the devs that they are working on the aformentioned COP and will have it up in the near future. third.. instead of making villian kelds (or whatever) the devs decided to make 2 new powersets completely from scratch. granted these sets will be open to both sides, but still... i do intend to make a willpower tank. looking forward to it really, but it seems to me that there are other more pressing issues that could have been addressed. guess there is always i12
  17. fyi update... i totaly forgot to mention that the indiana state fair is on till the 19th. roughly a 15min drive from downtown. full details can be seen on www.in.gov just follow the state fair links. come on out, get an elephant ear, and spend too much on the midway (this is a duplicate post in an effort to make sure all see it - i only posted it twice in the most relevant threads, so i'm not spamming )

I've been to the Alcatraz in Indy. It's not all that large. One year, ten of us from Virtue reserved the little private room upstairs. No wonder it got filled up so fast.. on a Saturday night during Gencon, you can't even get into many of the restaurants, everything is so crowded.

For the meet and greet to fit, you'd need the entire restaurant for those hours, just for whoever signed up. No walkins would fit, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

true true... if dave and busters in austin has a cap of 1320... and the sign up for that is already closed, perhaps ncsoft should take the hint and find a bigger venue in indy. i like the arts garden. it's basically a big glass enclosure attatched to the other end of the mall alcatraz is attached to.

i can hear it now... "this alcatraz is in a MALL!!!" fear not my fellow COx players. long story short, this mall is huge and is the anchor of down town. all the best night spots are within about 3 blocks of the mall with many built right into it. the convention center itself is only 2 blocks away.

the arts garden is suspended above an intersection so you get a good view of what is happeneing all around both inside and out. it has direct access to one of the best food courts in town so even if it hits official capacity, all us walk ups are right there next to the gathering... almost like making it one huge sprawling get together. and there is a gameworks arcade just a quick escalator ride up from the food court. and the arts garden has wifi access. and if the food court is not your thing, there is still always alcatraz (or st. elmo's, or the webber grill, or hard rock cafe, or the spaghetti factory, ect. ect. ect.)
  21. edit: this post only deals with gencon in indy. i wish i could make both gatherings, but a trip to austin is out of reach for me this year.

    [ QUOTE ]

I'm wondering what the difference is between "signing up" and simply "showing up". Are people turned away at the door if the place is full or something?

    [/ QUOTE ]

i doubt it. like most resturants with private function capability, alcatraz will have resturant space available to the gen public. just getting into the "gathering" will probably require being on the list. but not to worry, that are is smack full of eateries. i'm sure finding a place to gather with the gencon crowd will be easy, even if it's not in the "official" ncsoft gathering. when the dust settles on the official gathering and it's all booked, we COx folk can always pick an adjacent venue to decend on and take over. maybe we'll all just go to alcatraz a little early and then it will be as good as having booked the whole resturant

    see you all there!
  22. wow, what a subjective question. indy is best thought of as a sports and leisure town; as evidenced by most of the suggestions pointing you to places to relax and enjoy an evening. in the end though, it's a bit like asking what there is to see and do in san francisco or chicago.

the super hero museum is intresting. and lets face it.... the trip to the track is almost mandatory. indy is home to the temple of speed and they offer a bus ride around the track that is worth the drive out there ('course i am a racing fan so i'm biased).

crackers is certainly one of the best comedy clubs in town. and for those of you who are fans of the bob and tom morning radio show.... this is their home. they brodcast on 94.7 fm from 5am to 10am.

the downtown is full of museums, all within walking distance from the convention center. for my time the best is the soldiers and sailors monument at the heart of downtown on the circle (that circle is what gives this town it's popular nickname "the circle city" / ask anyone on the street and they will point u to "the circle") there is a museum in the base of the monument and the top is an observation deck.

lastly, the previously mentined victory field (baseball) and conseco field house (basketball) have both made the top ten best places to catch a sporting event on the travel channel. though for baseball you will have to get to town on the 15th since the indians are on the road during the con. the wnba indianapolis fever will be playing on both the 15th and the 19th though

on and on, circle center mall for movies, dining, shopping, and even the bars and arcade on the top floor. broad ripple (hippie enclave by day - college bar crowd by night). there's mass ave for the lbgt set. the down town is like any other city full of great eateries and late night spots. the previously mentioned zoo. for those with little ones there is the children's museum just a short drive north of down town (i may be a grown up, but i still get a kick out of that place). thriving drive in's (running current first releases) for those who miss them; as well as a couple imax theaters who crave the high tech video experience. trails and parks all over town to suit any taste. this is getting long, but that's indy... u want it... we got it
  23. wow, hate to see this thread go dead. i am posting to bump it back up the list. i still plan to be there. any updates as to the plans for the side gathering? time is getting short for those of us who have to plan far ahead (like me).
  24. i would but i'm not 8 feet tall and i can't bench press a truck either. so i'll just come as me
