My only disappointment, here, is the fact that recently I returned to the City after a break, and re-upped my account mid-December. I had no idea that there was a new loyalty thing going on until seeing this post, and while I haven't left the game for anything new being released, I re-subbed just a hair too late to get in on this.
Now, frankly, it's not that big a deal. A badge (my inner badge-collector will cry but move on), a couple of helmets which I might only use once, a chest emblem I probably won't wear, a costume change emote, a non-combat pet I won't use, and an aura. It's not the end of the world.
My thought is simply that the program might be better served as tying in with a variation of the Paragon Rewards program, but not just the standard badges, since you can earn them simply by spending more money. Relate these not to specifically keeping an account for a specific time/date (which circumstances beyond one's control might hinder), but to specific lengths of time. With the old Vet Rewards, after an account reached a certain age, the reward kicked in. If finances meant you had to stop your account for a month, you didn't miss out, you just had to wait longer.
Sure, I recognize that some of this is to fight losing the playerbase to newer, shiny games, but, let's face it, this isn't amazing enough to really stop someone from taking a month off to try out SWTOR or something...nor should it be, I'd rather the time and resources of the team go to the actual game content. It should just be recognized that players who have real-life issues aren't being "disloyal". -

Don't get me wrong, I've recently returned to the game after a couple years away, and I love that they added in the ability to simply float items and the 6-beacon 'porters. Still, bases seem to be the back-stairs child of the game: everyone knows it's there, but those in high places don't seem to like to talk about them or do much for them. I'd like to think this isn't true, but that's difficult to believe when so little seems to be done and so little feedback is given or forthcoming.
Still, we sally forth. Builders, unite! -
Here's the latest team shot for The Minute Men - That's /my-NYOOT/, as in tiny. The SG is made up of all patriotic heroes of minimum height, based on the Liberty server.

Adding my voice to the pleas for redname confirmation and a fix, soon. Sure, it's not a game-breaker, but it is really annoying and a QoL thing that sticks out like a sore thumb.

It probably won't be noticed here for a fix.

Agreed, though it won't get noticed there, either. -
Let me add my 'welcome' and thanks as well, Sunstorm.
If I missed the announcement, forgive me, but are you going to be the "go-to guy" for bases, now? We've had no one to specifically handle questions for us, merely a liaison.

Prestige Refunds: The programming team has set up a refund system for all base plots, rooms and items.

Much, much thanks. It feels good to know that we've been heard, and that something we were told was not going to happen because it was difficult turned out to be worth the resource time to make happen.

Teleporter recipes: The Rare salvage requirement on these should be removed in the next patch.

Also much thanks. Something so basic to the (non-PvP) base crowd was a serious point of contention. This is extremely appreciated.
Good to hear that this is the tip of the iceberg, and that other aspects are being looked at. There's a million things I want to ask for and ask about, but for now, I'll hold off on those and wait to see what happens. The fact that things are happening is a good sign. -
A while back, someone in the Livejournal CoH community made a post about "crafty" CoH-related things. My wife was sitting on the couch, doing some crochet, and I had an idea: a scarf that was blue on one end, sporting the "Hero" logo, and red on the other, with an Arachnos logo (the main villain group in the game). When I told her about it, she just grinned (and probably cringed a little internally), and started thinking about how to pull it off. Last night, she handed me the finished product...
CoH/CoV Scarf
...just the thing for staying warm during those long Winter Event team-ups! Much thanks goes out to my wonderful wife, who already puts up with so much goofy stuff from me, and still does the coolest things in return.
(Couldn't find a better forum for this, apologies if you feel it's off-topic) -

1) If a player logs in during the two free character slot "gift" window, then those slots are placed in player's character slot inventories. Character Slots within your inventories can never be removed, even after the gift window closes.

Many thanks for the clarification, GF. I know I wasn't the only one a tad miffed by the idea of having those vanish just because we weren't ready to use them. This makes me a happy player again (both the news and the quick response).
As always, keep up the good work, guys. -

Actually, the two free slots that were launched with the Character Slot service / Issue 12 *will* end at some point in the future.
If you have not claimed or assigned those slots to a server, then after the window closes, you won't get those two free slots.
[/ QUOTE ]
Let me just say that I heartily disagree with this. I have not claimed any free slots because I don't have a server full up to NEED to do so. By this command decision, I'll lose those two slots, even though I did was was required to get them, simply because I don't need them NOW. In the future, should I fill a server and want them, I'm out of luck, even though I earned them.
This doesn't seem fair. I guess the smart move is to go ahead and drop them on my most populated server (or one each on the top two) and hope that is where I want them, in the future.
I suppose, though, since I don't need them anyway, I can't miss what I don't have, right? Just seems like a choice that doesn't have any good reason for being made. *shrug* -
