It's the colouring that I'm most impressed with.

Great touch!

I think it's Lucy Lu who gets the title of "Bootylicious" (just to the right of Bayanis head, "Lu" visable between Bayanis jacket and Shutterbug)

Damn I just noticed the Pocket D flier as well!
Damn I just noticed the original comic book on the floor as well!

*Ahem* No no. That 'Lu' is the beginning of LUSH! I claim the crown of Bootyliciousness!
2. UPDATE - Our first annual CoX EU Costume Contest was a success! There were so many good-looking heroes and villains that we increased the number of winners to 4 (4th place gets a Pencil Convention Sketch)! Thank you to everyone who came out and participated. Despite the problems with Gill Bates' rebellious keyboard, lol, the contest ran smoothly and we picked some great winners! View the results and some screenshots of the event here.

To all the winners, if you would like to submit additional screenshots, please email us at info@mmoart.com.

phew, just in time

[/ QUOTE ]

Heh, yup...I'd totally forgotten about entering this.

Quick question about the costume contest though. Will you be drawing the winning costume, or a character of the winners choice?

[/ QUOTE ]

The character in the winning costume is what will be drawn. So come in your very best outfit!

[ QUOTE ]
Dman but there's some nice sketches on there already!

No Euro players yet though

*keeps fingers crossed for his own entry*

[/ QUOTE ]

Well there is one Euro player so far, but it's WoW.
4. Today MMOART is 1 yr. old!! Don't forget about our Anniversary Celebration Events!! Only 12 hours left till the deadline for Free Sketch Day raffle submissions! At that time, we will also be re-opening for commissions.

This costume contest thingie...Do you only hold it on the US training room?

[/ QUOTE ]

We've decided to hold the same contest on the EU test server as well. Same place, Pocket D, at 9 PM CEST (is that right lol?), which I think is actually 2 PM in the afternoon our time. We just updated this on our site and I'll be sure to post it as an event on the Calendar here as well. Thanks MaXimillion!

One thing, I noticed the new price list, am I right in thinking that the basic Pencil SIngle Character has gone up in price where as everything else has stayed about the same? Is this due to the new Convention Sketch taking the place at the bottom end of the scale?

And finally, when is the new MMOToon site going live and can you give us any indication as to basic prices? (ie. am I right in thinking it will be somewhat cheaper due to a more "simplistic" art style?

[/ QUOTE ]

To answer your first question, yes. Convention sketches are simpler and faster to create as they are drawn slightly looser than fully rendered Pencil Pieces, and most of the time they are a portrait or upper body shot.

As for MMOART Toons, we're hoping to launch that site by next weekend. And yes, the prices will be significantly lower as the art styles for that site will not be as detailed or complex.
6. UPDATE

As most of you know, we’re coming up on 1 year of service in a couple of weeks! Who knew that one boring afternoon’s sketch would blossom into a collection of over 50 fan artworks! For that success, we’d like to thank each and everyone one of you for your outstanding support since day one. Your character creations inspire us to push ourselves more with each request. And we're both looking forward to what this next year will bring!

Now as some of you may have already discovered, we finally released MMOART.com version 2.0!! Features include a new informative About area including Jomaro's new personal blog/sketchbook, a revised Price List, a Testimonials area, brand new MMOART Gift Certificates, and an amazing new Flash Gallery! We’re also joining forces with the talented fine artist, Graver, to offer you a special opportunity to receive Collaborative Watercolor Artwork by him and Jomaro! And we’re not done yet!

Each week this month, a new MMOART expansion site will launch to offer even more alternative artwork styles and material options! Check out our About area to read more on those upcoming sites. Commission requests are currently still closed, but they will officially re-open on August 17th, our 1 year anniversary date. At that time, a maximum of ten commission orders will be accepted at a time, in an effort to control the workflow for the artists and to prevent extensive turnaround times.

To celebrate our upcoming anniversary, we are hosting contests/game events that could win you some FREE artwork! And who doesn’t love that? You can read more about our upcoming events here.

If you discover any broken links, typos, or any other overlooked errors, please let either Jomaro/Gill Bates or me know ASAP. And as always feedback is always welcome. Peace!

Superman

I like digital paintings. Very good for working without a sketch.

Im seriously considering a piece when you open your doors again but Im a tad confused on the pricing.

I would want a colour piece of my signiture hero Miss Marvellous battling my signiture Villian Miss Wraithful.

I would also like a enviroment in the background as well how much would that be, I have concluded that it would be $400 is that right.

Am I also right in thinking that for such a peice you would get a digital copy sent via email and the original hard copy, addtional prints would be $10 each in 12x18 format.

Many thanks and loving your work.

[/ QUOTE ]

You are correct, except about the poster prints. You do get the initial 12x18 print included for free. If you want additional copies of the print, those are $10 each.
9. Hey all! I'm Lush, Gill's wife and business manager. He's glued to his drafting table at the moment so I thought I'd pop in to answer some of your questions.

[ QUOTE ]
Gill, I have a question for you, which will probably revolve around my eventual purchase. I'm trying to get a few things straight in my head, so I know exactly what's what before I wait until you accept commissions again.

Now, my character uses two slots for the same costume, if that makes sense. The first slot is the full costume, and the second slot is without the helmet, showing his face. Now, if I were to order a single character piece with portrait, with the second slot's head/shoulders as the portrait, would that be considered a second character?

[/ QUOTE ]

Your piece would still be considered a Single Character Piece w/ Portrait. Whoever's face is used as the portrait in the background is completely up to you.

[ QUOTE ]
Gill, gotta say, been a fan of your site for a loooong time now, damn impressive stuff!

2 Questions,

1. When will you be taking commisions again, as I'm coming into some money later in the year.

2. What are the new sites about? Can you give us any details? The toon one, if it's what i think it is, sounds interesting

[/ QUOTE ]

1. We are in the process of re-designing/re-vamping our current site which is due to launch tentatively on August 1st. We plan on opening the commission requests again at that time.

2. The expansion sites that are also in the works are MMOART Toons, MMOART Uncut, and MMOART Guilds.

The Toons site will feature artwork of more animated/cartoon styles. From the anime look to the Disney animation look or Gill's personal cartoon style which some of you may have seen in the 'Drawings for Static's Son' thread on the US forums.

The Uncut site will feature fan art with mature adult content. Sexually explicit acts (that are found in Hentai for example) will NOT be promoted nor displayed on this site, however featured artworks will contain some nudity. It is not intended for minors under the age of 18, nor for anyone who finds material of a sexual nature offensive. But again, it is the internet and it really comes down to the viewer. Basically, you can expect to see art content similar to the erotic fantasy works of Boris, Frazetta, Sorayama, Julie Bell, etc. only done in Gill's style.

As for the Guilds site, it's basically just to separate the group pieces that are done. Each supergroup/team/guild will have their piece featured and you'll be able to read info on each member. The setup will also allow groups to keep expanding to include new members in their artwork.
