  1. Sleep Now in The Fire: Fire/Thermal Corruptor. P2

Secondary: Thermal Radiation *WARNING: TEAM ORIENTED*

Warmth – Point Blank AoE heal, self and allies.
The Good: Works on you, decent radius, fast recharge, healing (a rare
talent among villains), no accuracy check required.
The Bad: Fairly weak healing without slotting.

    Rating:

Well, Being a corruptor you have 2 choices when creating your
character, Take Warmth, or take Warmth. I personally prefer warmth
but if you're more of a warmth kinda person its all good. I love it
and 6 slot it with Numina.

Fire Shield – Single target resistance click buff.

The Good: Good resistance to smashing, lethal, and fire damage,
almost instant recharge, easy on endurance.
The Bad: Weak resistance to cold, needs refreshing every few minutes.

    Rating:

Alrite, Im not really one for click buffs, I just hate to have to
keep applying them, especially because this and plasma shield can be
unfreindly to those who cant handle the graphics so you might
occasionaly get asked to not buff the slow-loading player on your
team. Also, you really need Forge so thats another click buff, so you
can either take this and plasma shield and forge, or thaw and 1 of
the shields and forge or whatever. Personally I have thaw and forge
and thats enough click-buff updating for me.

    Cauterize - Single-Target Heal

The Good: Very Strong heal, especcialy when slotted, no accuracy
    check, great range, great recharge.
    The Bad: Single Target

    Rating:

I have this 5 slotted with doctored wounds and left out the recharge
because it fast enough already, especcialy with the other recharge
from the set and the +recharge from the set bonuses. Great power, If
you ever wanna heal one of your allies, take it.

Plasma Shield – Single target resistance click buff.

The Good: Decent resistance to energy, negative energy, and fire
    damage.
The Bad: More situational than Fire Shield.

    Rating:

Your second resist buff, Plasma Shield compliments Fire Shield’s
spectrum of protection. The fire protection from both buffs stack for
superior resistance. If for some reason you decide to take only one
of the shields, Fire Shield is the better choice. People used to
expect a thermal corruptor to just have both shields, now its a little
different. People may still expect shields out of you but, hey, give 'em
a forge and a heal and they'll shut up.

Power of the Phoenix – Single target resurrection, AoE atack
The Good: Rez, damages nearby baddies, comes with built in knockback
    mez.
The Bad: only heals about half of HP, High end cost, AoE can draw
    aggro, Slow recharge

    Rating:

I used to not have this but since inherent fitness I had room for the
extra power and took it. I've never looked back, I normmaly slot it
to be used in the middle of combat, so when your allie gets killed,
you can rez him to help finish the mob and do some damage to the
current mob! When someone dies I hit vengie, Rez, and watch 'em burn.
    Simple

Thaw – Single target demez and resistance click buff

The Good: Neutralizes almost all mez effects, lingering mez
    protection, fast recharge, click buff.
The Bad: Stalkers, Brutes, and even some Masterminds already have
strong anti-mez powers. Break-free inspirations are almost as
    effective.

    Rating:

I find this power can help alot for the squishy people on your team,
most already have mez protection so this might be more of a
situational power, and you may want to go with fire shield instead.
Its up to you but I have it and like it. plus, its slow
    computer-freindly

Forge - Single Target accuracy and Damage click-Buff

The Good: Lasts 2 minutes, boosts accuracy and damage.
The Bad: This used to be basically build-up that you give to your
allies, It got nerfed a long time ago though so were down to (I
think) 20% accuracy and 40% damage boost.

    Rating:

It has a rather long recharge, also about 2 minutes, I put 2 recharge
enhancements in it because I could spare the slots and its down to
about a minute. I switch between the tank and the other high damage
dealing member of the team to use this buff on, so you have 2
teammates with forge for most of the time. If you cant spare an extra
slot then still just recharge and still try to do what I do except
one of them will be without forge for about 30-60 seconds. Also
please dont quote me on the "20% accuracy boost, 40% damage boost"
    part.

Heat Exhaustion: Single target click DeBuff

The Good: Very strong debuff of damage, regeneration, and recovery,
    some endurance damage.
The Bad: Accuracy check, long recharge, single target, not worth your
time to use on standard mobs

    Rating:

This works really well on tough bosses, EBs, and AVs. Please dont
waste it on anything lower, it has a recharge that takes FOREVER. But it's
still really sweet when you can use it. This is our answer to /Rad
corruptors' Lingering Radiation. Ours is the better Debuff (Opinion) but the
recharge is about 5 times as long.

Melt Armor – Target AoE click debuff.

The Good: Powerful defense and resistance debuff. AoE
The Bad: Accuracy check, long recharge.
The Ugly: This is one NASTY power when used correctly!

    Rating:

I really love this one, I have it 5 or 6 slotted with anaylze
weakness, lady grey works just as well. As long as you put the slots
into for the extra recharge its really great. Still though I wouldnt
use it on anything below a boss, especcialy on teams.

    Power Pools

Im not really gunna go over this much, its your call.
I have combat jumping for the extra defense as well as flight
    control.
Acrobatics for the mez ressistance. This is my personal cure to
    knockback.
Superjump cuz Im never gunna use kick lol.

Leadership is kind of a must for corruptors, some dont have it, its
up to you. I personnally do, which is why I have to be careful with
my endurance, its a lot of toggles.
I have Manuevers for team defense, and Tactics obviously because its
awesome. Also vengie because its awesome. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND
VENGEANCE. If your playing a /Thermal Radiation than you probably
team alot and this is a great team power.
Flight because I like to fly, hover for when Im fighting and the
defense bonus. If you dont already know this you should pretty much
always switch to hover when your fighting, for the lower endurance
cost and defense. Its alot of switching back and forth between fly
and hover but its worth it.

Epic Powers: With i19..or maybe 18...thats when I took a break for a
while so Im not quite sure haha, You now have acsess to 8 epic power
sets instead of your normal 4. Personally I have GW's Dark because of
soul storm. Fire is one of the only ranged primaries without a hold
so I highly reccomend getting one. You have to wait until the 40s to
get it but its worth it in my opionon, animation is a little slow but
the effect on the target looks awesome! also I got power boost and
the shield. So thats now 6 toggles altogether I have constantly
    running.

Alrite everyone hopefully this helped in some way, Again, these are
only my opinions and not facts, Im sorry if anything in here is
wrong, if so please let me know. I appreciate any feedback of any
    kind. Thanks for reading!
  2. Sleep Now in the Fire: The Fire/Thermal Corruptor

This is my 2nd ever player guide and the 1st one wasnt so good so
    hopefully this will be better...

First off, I know that there's a billion other fire/thermal guides
out there, but most of them are a bit older, And I think that you'll
find this is even different from the newer ones. This was written
during issue 19. Also you notice this is somewhat based off of
SieKensou's guide from back in the day. Hopefully it will be as good

I'll be using the same "Smiley rating that SieKensou used.

    - Useful in rare situations
    - Optional but useful
    - Useful in most situations, You'll probably want it
    - JUST TAKE THE POWER ALREADY

I wont really go over slotting much, this is mainly about the powers
and their usefullnes and at the end I'll post my Mid's build for
    Flaming Youth (My Fire/Thermal)

    Okay lets get started already!

Primary: Fire Blast (All fire powers have Minor DoT)

Flares – Single target attack, fire damage

Good: Good to start atack change, decent damage, One of the fastest
Ranged recharge times in the game.
Bad: The animation time is a little much but still, Who cares?

    Rating:

I normally take it as my first power, then add fire blast, Maybe
Its not for you but I find it puts the pickle on my sandwhich.

Fire Blast - Single Target Atack, Fire Damage

Good: Fast animation time, Fast recharge time, Good Damage,
Bad: Really? Whats not to love? Especially if your not taking flares

    Rating:

Its just a great power, Take it, 6 slot it (eventually), Feed it,
    watch it grow!

Fire Ball – Target spherical AoE attack, fire and smash damage

The Good: Your first AoE, Good damage, Smash damage to give you a
little variety for your fire-resistant enemies, good range, extra DoT
The Bad: Rather pricey endurance-wise, Can aggro those one guys you
werent ready to aggro yet, Plus extra aggro on the current mob.

    Rating: and a half

Personnaly, I have this power 6 slotted with a Javelin Volley
(positrons Blast also good) and I love it, but it can be rather
unfreindly to corrs with its endurance cost if your flying too and
or/running Leadership. Also extra aggro, which doesnt help we
    squishies.

Rain of Fire – Target area AoE attack, fire Damage

The Good: Affects a very large radius, very high accuracy bonus,
slows enemy movement, respectable total damage, foes flee the area.
The Bad: Foes flee the area (yes, good and bad), expensive endurance
    cost.

    Rating:

I only gave this one because this a guide for /Thermal corruptors,
its great for /Darks or /Colds and even some others but it just
doesnt pair nicely in my opinion. I was never really a big fan of the
"Rain of" powers so it just wasnt for me. But its up to you, If you
team alot and just gotta have those AoEs maybe so, but the solo,
Hovering while fighting, running combat jumping and acrobatics too,
and maybe even leadership running (not to mention epic pool
shield),carrying blue insparations corr, Its just not freindly.

Fire Breath: Conical Targeted AoE atack, fire damage

The Good: High damage AoE atack, Built in accuracy bonus
The Bad: Long activation/Animation, expensive endurance cost, its a
    cone, so more aggro

    Rating:

I didnt like Fire Breath because it required getting rather close to
the enemy, which Im always against being a ranged damage person. I
wanna stay out of melee range at all costs. But if your not afraid
and your fast, this power can do some serious damage. Plus it looks
cool, I just wanted a "drinking hot sauce" emote to do right before I
    activate this power.

Blaze – Single target attack, fire damage.

The Good: AMAZING base damage, extra DoT, fast activation and
    animation.
The Bad: shorter range the rest of your atack chain, Flares/fire
blast are 80 ft. This is 40. Recharge is a little long. a little
    endurance heavy

    Rating:

This is what every fire Corr braggs about, its really great. I can
litteraly 1 shot -1 minnions with this power (with aim but still)
A must have for PvP, a must have in general, who cares about the
endurance and recharge? Its definetly worth it.

Blazing Bolt - Single Target Snipe, Fire damage

The good: Massive Damage potential, Great for pulling
    The Bad: long activation/Animation, interruptible

    Rating:

Sniping powers burn holes in enemies from an extra safe distance.
Skilled snipers can, with a bit of luck, also pick off several weak
enemies in a mob before the rest of their friends notice and
counterattack but take care to stay pretty far away so you dont get interrupted,
which shouldnt be to hard with the range.

*You know when your doing the Lord Recluse SF and your team is like
"Alrite lets pull the Heroes one at a time...Who can pull?" This is
the power that lets you go "Stand back, Im about to burn a hole in
    Positron's Head."

Inferno - Point Blank AoE, fire and smashing damage. NUKE
Inherent accuracy bonus, AoE, INCREDIBLE damage . . . and extra DoT
in potentially ridiculous proportions (as if it needed it . . .),
    entertaining.
The Bad: Takes a few moments to activate, point blank, long recharge,
eats every last pixel of endurance you have, and prevents endurance
    regeneration for 20 seconds.

    Rating:

Alrite, I know you all want a panic button, and you love to see the
enemy burn but heres a scenario for you. You activate this power on a
mob, Kills all of them except the Lt. Your out of endurance and you
dont have any blues...Screwed. Its pretty rare that that will happen
though so if you really want it go for it, but its not for me and my
    toggle running/Squishy toon.

Synergies with your Awesome Secondary: (Quote from SieKensou)
Thermal Radiation is the natural thematic choice to compliment Fire
Blast. In function, the FB/TR combination directly addresses more
than the other combinations the one thing that determines the victor
of any fight: HP. After all, you can mez (or be mezzed), buff (or be
buffed), debuff (or be debuffed), etc. in every possible way, but the
winner ultimately is the one that still has hit points at the end of
a fight. Fire Blast removes your opponents’ HP while TR replenishes
    yours.

Thermal Radiation isn’t necessarily the best match for Fire Blast if
you’re really aiming to maximize its damage potential, though. As
mentioned previously, Dark Miasma, aside from being a fantastic power
set in its own right, turns Rain of Fire into a tremendous weapon
from the moment you take it. A similar synergy, and possibly a more
powerful one at that, occurs between Rain of Fire and Cold
Domination’s Snow Storm and Sleet powers all used simultaneously.
Then, of course, there’s Kinetics, which seems to work well with any
    primary power.

The point is this: if you’re not excited about Thermal Radiation,
Fire Blast works well with other secondary powers perhaps more to
    your liking.

I hate to copy or plageurize but SieKensou really had a good point
there that I didnt really know how to restate.

    Now for your secondary:
Just accept the fact that some people are gunna call you a healer, Your
gunna have to constantly buff the tank/brute, and that your gunna hit
Aim, Prepare to unload on a mob...only to have to stop and heal your
team. No your not a rad so you dont have amazing DeBuffs, No your not
a kin so you dont have Amazing buffs, But you good 2 Really Good
heals with great range, 4 Buffs all together (Youll probably only
take 2, 3 most) and 2 Pretty good DeBuffs (depending on how you use
    them)

And on the bright side, when your teamates see the extra damage and
accuracy they get from forge (or whatever buff you use) you might
just get a Fortune (or another buff from the wedding pack)
  3. Alright well once again thanks for the advice everybody I really appreciate it, Here before long Ill start working on a new and better version and post my new build.
  4. Alrite, Thanks for the advice everyone, Im sorry my guide wasn't helpful, I might try to do re-do it one day. Anyway thanks everyone.
  5. Hmmmm, I checked my Mid's and you seem to be right, I remember somewhere down the road seeing my foes disoriented after I used salt crystals then atacked them, I must have used stalagmites and wasn't thinking about. Sorry about that, Ill make the change in the guide as noted.
  6. Thanks for the advice Carnifax, My guide is more for just taking out enemies as fast as possible then control, Those that arent as crazy as me probably wont agree with that though. Also I do have to disagree with you, Salt Crystals does have a disorient effect on those that arent slept. But thanks again for the advice!

Well there you go! That's E-M.
  8. -----1. Intro----

Ok, First off, I'm not one for numbers so dont expect to see alot of statistics or math, But
I can tell you what works and what doesnt from experience.
I have been playing CoX for a long time, Dominators are by far my favorite toons. Hopefully
This guide can make you a better one. (at least as far as Earth goes)
Also I would suggest that you read http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=114196 (Waybreaker's guide to not sucking) before you read this, Its very helpful. Also as you'll see Im bassicaly building my guide like Project O's.

    -------2. Strengths and Weaknesses------

With an earth dom (or controller) you have two amazing power sets: Earth Control and Assualt. With control you get a few immobilizations that work pretty well, one Awesome hold, The best pet in the game (Animated Stone) and few other cool toys. With Assualt you get alot of powers to beat the snot out of your enemy while theyre held helplessly and crying for their mothers. As far as weakness goes depending on your build you might not be as helpful as some of your dominator counterparts on teams. You can play around a bit and probably get a good team build but my guide is mostly focused on being able to take out any enemy you face before they know whats going on. My dom is bassicaly a brute with control, I call it my "Brutinator", but Ill try to offer a little something for everyone. Unless I state otherwise I have taken and tryed every power I mention so I can tell you about them from experience. ( I just respeced out of alot of them)

    ---------3. Powers-------

The moment you've been waiting for, I'll start with
    Earth Control:

Stone Prison: Your standard single target immobillization, great for keeping melee enemies from killing you.

Is it good? It can be good but you get the same thing with stone cages except in a multi-target form. So I dont like it but if you really need to stack immobilizations then you might want it.

Slotting: I would say 2 immob. and 1 acc.

Fossilize: The power earth doms are known for, the power that leaves your enemy trapped
helplessly while they watch you destroy them. You REALLY need to take this power, its amazing.

Is it good? YES!!!! great for PvP and a must have for PvE, it lasts very long and if you're
going for the "Brutinator" approach, then you just need to use this and then come in for the
melee kill. You will use this power for every enemy and the recharge is fast enough to stack
    on tough Bosses and AVs.

Slotting: 5-6 slot ASAP, 3 hold, 2 acc, and if you want to use that extra slot, throw in
another hold. I like Ghost Widow's embrace in this power but thats just me.

Stone Cages: Stone prison for everyone in the mob, whats not to love? It even does some DoT.

Is it Good? Oh hell yes, If you dont take stone prison (which if your reading this you wont)
then you have to have it. Its great, especially on teams so your brute doesnt have to keep chasing the enemy around and such when someone uses knockback.

    Slotting: See Stone Prison.

Quicksand: An area slow, thats about it...it slows people. It is another form of control which is always a plus, and it does have pretty decent defense debuff. (Thanks Carnifax)

Is it Good? For teaming YES, for soloing yes but not as much, Its a pretty good power and it has a nice defense debuff.

Slotting: 1-3 slow. depends on personal style.

    Salt Crystals: A multi-target Sleep.

Is it Good? Maybe as somewhat of a panic button when too many enemies are atacking you, you can just sleep them, but just about anything will wake them up. I wouldnt recomend it for the "Brutinator" build.

    Slotting: 2-3 sleep, 1 acc.

    Stalagmites: A multi-target disorient/damage.

Is it good? Yes, great for teaming and big mobs when soloing, I like it alot, once again not so usefull in PvP but still a great power.

Slotting: If going for disorient: 3 dis, 1 acc. If going for damage: 3 dam, 1 acc.
Not too much damage so you might think about using some Hami-Os here.
I like to use a stupefy set in it.

Earthquake: Remember all those Circle of Thorns earth mages you hate? You can thank them for this power. An area KB.

Is it good? In certain situations, if youre fighting an AV an need to keep little guys off you, Though it does have a ToHit debuff so enemies that arent knocked back are less likely to hit you. (Thanks again Carnifax)

    Slotting: 1-2 KB

Volcanic Gasses: An area Hold/DoT, It looks like a fart, already sounds cool right?

Is it good? Definatly, valueble on teams and soloing, leaves everyone choking while you go through and kill them one by one. Even does some pretty decent DoT. Obviously not too good for PvP but awesome for PvE (noticing a trend here?)

Slotting: 3 hold, 2 acc, and if you can 1 rech. (has LONG recharge)

Animate Stone: This guy will be your best freind, Making your fire dom freinds cry while their imps give this guy the finger. Easily one of the best pets in the game, Does Massive Damage, Has psionic resistance and takes some aggro. He is the man.

Is it Good? YES!!!! Take it obviously, its your pet. He will save your life, Uses hurl boulder and Seismic Smash. and whith i15 or i16 or whatever you can even make him look volcanic or crystal!

Slotting: 3 dam, 1 acc. You cant go wrong with an Expiedent Reinforcement set. The defense Aura is a must. So that or a Sovereign Right set.

    Earth Assualt:

Stone Spears: A ranged atack with decent damage and knockup.

Is it good? You have to take it, love it, its very useful while your waiting for you melee atacks to recharge.

Slotting: 3 acc, 1 dam, if you've got slots to spare or really like it then slot it more.
GREAT with a devistation set in it! The proc is so awesome, it gives you another hold!
    I strongly recoment it.

Stone Mallet: Your first step to becoming a "Brutinator". Its Awesome melee atack.

Is it good? Yes, pair it with your heavy mallet you get later and youve got a 1,2 combo from hell.

Slotting: 5-6 ASAP, 3 dam, 2 acc, and something else (Not rech, its already great)
Crushing Impact set. thats all I have to say.

Tremor: A PbAoE, thats about it...

Is it good? Im sorry but I really dont like it, while it does some decent melee damage, it has
A very small range and a never-ending animation time, I see my enemies run away from me by the time its done activating.

Slotting: *sigh* Really? you just had to? some Dam and Acc.

Hurl Boulder: Ranged atack, with some knockback, great power.

Is it good? Definatly, take it, I dont recoment using it PvP because of the eternal animation
    time, but really its great.

Slotting: 6-slot. 3 dam, 2 acc, 1 rech, cant go wrong with a decimation set.
or if youre low on cash, a thunderstrike.

Power Boost: Aim, Build-up, whatever, its your Grandpa's power boost.

Is it good? Ya...I really shouldnt have to explain this one...

Slotting: Rech, Rech, Rech, dont bother with end.

Heavy Mallet: See Stone mallet. Oh, and...TAKE IT.

Seismic Smash: The best melee atack in here. Take it!!!

Is it good? Hell Yes!!! you can 1 shot +1's if you slot it good and you use power boost.
With domination on and power boost and you can 1 shot plus 2's and probably 2-shot 3's.
Great power no matter what. You bread and butter, the power that makes your oppenents in PvP scream and try to run away, and makes Brutes and Scrappers cry and pull their hair out.

Slotting: 6 slot, ASAP! I love a mako's bite set in it.

Mud pots: This it the only one in the set I havent tried, a melee range immob, that takes
alot of endurance I would assume.

Is it Good? Im sorry but I really cant say so if I havent tried it but it doesnt sound like
A good idea for the "Brutinator" build, such as mine.

    Slotting: ?...end?

Fissure: A short Range AoE. Minor damage.

Is it good? Yes actually, I love it, great filler while waiting for melee atacks to recharge.
especialy when the mob is packed in tight. Even usefull in PvP!

Slotting: 4-6 slot, depends on personal style. 3 dam, 2 acc, one rech. I have a javelin volley in it but if youre short on $ a Positrons Blast is Amazing in it.

I would reccoment getting a Patron Armor/Shield, and combat jumping, If youre going for the "Brutinator" build youll take a lot of aggro and need all the defense and resistance you can get.

    ----------4. Overview---------

Once again this is just my suggestions and what I've gathered from experience. When I say
"Take it!!!" thats just my opinion. You will need stamina, but after that you'll never have to worry about endurance again.
Earth/Earth is a great set. It has the conrtol to make controllers Hate you, The damage to make Brutes and Scrappers Pull their hair out, and The fast widespread damage to make stalkers cry.
If theirs anything I didnt touch please let me know, this is my first guide and I hope you like it! Ill include a Mid's readout of my dom later.
