Hey blaster forum!
Ive run my Fire/MM to 50 and have been hard* at work IOing her out all Im missing now is a final Obliteration quad and my build is pretty much done but Im not entirely happy with my epic pool powers.
Heres where I am at the moment: -
Fire Fire Blast, Fireball, Fire Breath, Build Up, Rain of Fire, Blaze, Blazing Bolt, Inferno
MM The immob, Telekinetic Thrust, Concentration, Drain Psyche, Psionic Shockwave
Leaping Combat Jumping, Super Jump, Acrobatics
Speed Hasten
Cold Mastery Snowstorm, the +HP thing and Hibern00b.
Yeah, I cant remember the name of some powers. Oh well. Ive picked up a Blessing of the Zephyr KB IO so thatll free up a slot (can it go in sprint?). Not sure where to go for a replacement power for Acrobatics torn between either Super Speed to stack with Celerity +stealth IO to give full on ghosting potential, or Assault to further boost my damage output where my IO bonuses are currently kicking out 20% on top of my enhancement bonuses.
Then theres the epic pool; I initially picked it to have the Snowstorm / Rain of Fire combo up and running but that seems a little unnecessary now. Ive been thinking of taking the fire mastery pool simply to pick up the self res as at high levels, when I get a lot of incoming fire from the sheer amount of AOEs the character throws I tend to end up on the deck.
Any suggestions?
*Well, by hard at work I mean sitting on my backside drinking beer. That can be tricky sometimes, right? -
Ive been playing my Ice / Sonic quite a lot (rolled primarily just to be different) and am mostly enjoying it. Ive been building it as team dependent, so its soloing speed pre-L32 is pedestrian to say the least (Ive just hit L28)
Ive been fiddling around with the powers and Im not really sure where to go next; Ive got the following: -
Ice: Block of Ice, Arctic Air, Shiver, Ice Slick, Glacier.
Sonic: The two team shields plus the big bubble, the L1 mandatory enemy res thing, the team-mate res toggle (yes I should know their names!).
From the pools, Ive picked up Hover-Flight, and Spring-Health-Stamina. Ive also grabbed Stealth with the purpose of making the enemies aggro on Jack when I get him rather than me.
Im likely to drop Arctic Air; whilst it does seem pretty good, I cant simply afford the two sonic toggles and it, plus be actively controlling.
So Im kind of at a loss of what to take at L30. If I respec out of Arctic Air I could jump into the medicine pool for Aid Other Aid Self. I could go with invisibility to give me stealth options for ghosting missions. I might go with Chilblain or Air Superiority to give me an attack option.
Any thoughts? -
Dammit.
Thanks for the heads up Archy. -
Ah, that seems a familiar set of power choices
Ive not opted for Acrobatics and gone for a KB IO instead; so far the only thing thats had trouble with is the Katie Hannon TF AVs hurricane. Ive picked up Cloak of Darkness but it feels like a wasted pick and will probably get dumped in a respec. Quite possibly for Acro, as Im feeling I can cope with the end cost.
Spine Burst at L30 seems late, is that a to-50 build or a respecced one?
Ive mixed and matched my IO sets so far but due to popularity of some of the sets theyre pretty tricky to get hold of at the moment Im using a full set of Crushing Blow plus two from Multi Strike for example. I'd like to get the Health IOs but the price / availability is a bit of an issue. -
Aha, didnt realise that. Knockdown good, knockback bad. Does it still take Knockback IOs?
I think my choice just got really easy
If you stick range enhancements into a cone attack doesnt it increase the width of the cone? Might just be my shonky memory on that. -
Does ET not scatter the mobs with excessive knockback then?
That's why I was looking at it as being impractical. -
Ive just hit L35 on my spines / dark and wanted to pick the brains of the experts here
Ive grabbed Oppressive Gloom and am a bit flummoxed on to how to slot it the end drain seems minimal and the cost to health doesnt seem to be a problem. At the moment Im thinking of three-slotting it with the Stupefy set (Acc/End, End/Stun and Chance for Knockdown) to pick up some helpful set bonuses.
Not sure if thats enough accuracy to be honest
The other thing is patron pools, which arent really that far away Ive read a few builds which include body mastery; due to the +recovery bonuses Ive managed to accumulate with the IO sets endurance isnt a big issue anymore though I suppose conserve power + focused accuracy might work together. Dark looks pretty good simply due to the Tentacles which would keep my targets within my AOE doom, as might caltrops. -
Cheers guys

Unfortuntely, work frowns upon me loading this on to their machines -
Just a quick /SR question .can you slot the passives (agile/dodge/lucky) be slotted with resist damage IOs?
I suspect probably not -
I should be OK for this one if you've still got space - I'll bring Mach 2, my Kin/En defender
-
1. Mercury Sunrise, L34 Fire/Rad controller
2. Xarynn, L34 Claws/Regen scrapper
3. Doc Mangler, L50 Ice/?? blaster
4. (Trista), L30 blaster
5. Indigo Implosion, L33 En/En blaster
6. Miss Feline, fire/fire tank
7. Quantum Image, L35 Ill/Rad controller
8. Black Dragon - Blaster / Scrapper
Excellent stuff Ive added everyones name whos interested. Ill be in-game from 7pm onwards, if people could set their difficulty levels to heroic and well meet by archer boy at 7.30 to kick some Crey backside.
Black Dragon, play who you feel like playing, we've got a good mix of melee / ranged / control I think. -
Cool - I'll have a word around my SG and coalition to see if anyone else is daft enough to try this.
Sometime next week? What's a good day for people? -
Manticore Task Force, starting 7.30pm tomorrow night you know the drill, stick yer name down if youre interested!

EDIT: Updated team roster -
Sooo, anyone up for this on Defiant?
I'm sure someone will say it can't be done, but hell you don't know until you try. And we're Scrappers, no other AT has our 100% awesomeness. -
Just a quick "cheers" to all for this, especially Mythic Guardian for organising.
The Posi task force _really_ needs a revamp though -
Toon's name is Mach 2 - it's kind of how harsh our auditors are feeling over the next couple of day as to whether I can make it, I'll know by lunch Friday.
-
Can I put myself down as a provisional yes? Will know better by the end of the week, will bring my Kin/Energy defender
-
Yeah, Short Circuit was something else I was considering wasnt really sure how viable the whole sapper concept was. I think Id be able to slot some end mods into it by about L34, so could be worth a go as Im sitting on wads of veteran respecs.
Ive read a couple of guides that say that Storm is a total end hog, but to be honest Ive not noticed it. I only run Steamy Mist all mish-every mish, the other toggles go on and off as needed. I think one of the problems people have with Stormies stems from some people running Whirlwind all the time. -
Just hit L32 with my Storm/Electric last night very happy with this toon and its certainly been the biggest challenge Ive had to play effectively, but the powers taken do need tweaking. At the moments Ive got: -
Storm: Everything
Electricity: Charged Bolts, Ball Lightning, Tesla Cage, Zapp
Flight: Hover, Flight
Fitness: Swift, Hurdle, Stamina
Im thinking Im going to get rid of Thunderclap as Ive been rather under whelmed by its performance so far; even double-slotted for accuracy it seems to miss more often than it hits minions, and only once in a blue moon touches a lieutenant. Im also going to get rid of Zapp as I dont solo at all with this toon and with me just getting Lightning Cloud and Voltaic Sentinel coming at L35, they should supply me with some better damage output.
Im thinking of instead of these powers taking Teleport Foe and Teleport; as Im learning to use the Storm powers most effectively its become clear that its all about the positioning, and these two powers would enable me to move either my anchor or me to the best position to help the team out. I am a bit worried that Teleport is a little too slow in activation and upon arrival to help a great deal in the middle of a battle though.
The other thing is slotting Lightning Storm; I have no idea whether it need accuracy slots in - at the moment Im thinking 1 acc, 3 dam and 2 recharge but if its good enough out of the box Ill go to 3 dam and 3 recharge.
Any advice received with thanks! -
Well done Reanne, have enjoyed teaming with you as Dark Sed
-
Excellent Ill look out for the names listed when Im next online.
Thanks both. -
Well done to all the organisers keeping it together after the large-scale disconnect was most impressive.
Thanks for an enjoyable couple of hours! -
Hello there,
Our villain base is completely tech-based and weve got arcane salvage available for trade. Obviously, were looking for the tech equivalent in exchange. Its all been refined into usable salvage, and for the most part is the tier one and two stuff. I think weve got one of the tier three.
If you want to trade, please respond here with your global handle, and Ill get in touch in-game. Id prefer to do the job lot but if people want to trade piecemeal then thats not a problem either. -
Pretty much concur with what's been said above - I think the little tweaks we all put on our fire/dark are what makes things each build a little bit unique.
- I've slotted a majority of my attacks with 2 acc; as you're checking to hit on each of your opponents with each of your AOEs I wanted to maximise my chances of hitting.
- For the above reasons, I dropped PG and took aim instead; unless I'm soloing something immune to fear like Nemesis I've not really missed it.
- Not sure if you've got a Patron planned out, but I've found that getting Power Sink from Scirroco's pool an absolute godsend, especially for AV fights when I'm running DN, SF, CJ and Acro.
- Agree with the debuffs in FS, and I've got it 2/2/2 slotted for accuracy, recharge and debuff.
Hope this helps - my fire/dark has been the most silly fun I've had with a toon for quite a while -
Hoping to garner some opinions on my Fire/Dark build mostly on the slotting of the Dark side (insert SW joke here!). Its currently sitting at L42.
I currently have: -
Fire: Fire Blast, Fire Ball, Rain of Fire, Fire Breath, Inferno, Blaze
Dark: Everything except Black Hole
Leaping: CJ, Super Jump, Acrobatics
Patron Pool: Power Sink
Im pretty much happy, but it does need some tweaking. Power choice wise, Im considering dropping Petrifying Gaze and replacing it with Aim; its not often I solo and the single target hold is only really used then. Aim will be helpful in the odd occasion I do chuck out an Inferno, and to up my damage against bosses and upwards. Im then looking at (in this order) Patron Armour, Blazing Bolt and Hasten for my last three power picks.
Slotting for the dark powers is: -
Twilight Grasp 2 acc, 2 heal, 2 recharge (happy with this)
Tar Patch 3 recharge, 2 slow (again, pretty happy with this)
Darkest Night 2 end red, 3 de-buff (no problems with this either)
Howling Twilight 1 recharge (happy)
Fearsome Stare 2 acc, 2 recharge, 2 debuff (unsure weather fear duration would be better?)
Shadowfall 2 end reg (would like to get some res in here)
Petrifying Gaze 1 acc (might lose this)
Dark Servant 1 recharge, 3 debuff (might lose the recharge, maybe acc or heal?)
Again, Id love to hear from people with experience on slotting these powers as Ive been applying a lot of what I used from my dominator (a lot of 2/2/2 slotting) to the corrupter.
