  1. Wow!

Very informative. I appreciate the replies. Thanks guys
  2. Hello gang, Xammy here ftw! After months of inactivity I've gone all crazy with the postin' last few days. I have been reading posts here for a great long time but now and again I feel somewhat noobish when I see Acronym after Acronym that I can't define. I can remember how silly it felt the first time I typed the entire "On my way" only to realize that omw meant the same thing all along.

There's a communication trouble occuring whenever I pass by an Acronym such as QOL or IIRC here and was wondering if there was a guide to commonly used Acronym's or phrases.

Also, what Acronym's have puzzled ya'll in the past?
  3. Oh god yes...

    /signed to the infinite power
  4. Three recharge redux it is. Thanks mate!
  5. And here I kept thinking that TA was overpowered as it was!

All I wanted changed was the base accuracy increased since it's a drawn weapon.

The way TA sits for me, any character with TA tends to find reasons to shelve certain powers after a while, having read the posts, I realize that the shelving of powers is coming from the lack of benefits as your TA gets older. You guys are right, let's up the buffs!
  6. Hey gang, Xammy here..

I need to plan the endgame for my thugs/poison guy "Mr Social Worker" and couldn't get Mid's to tell me one valuable thing.

What is the duration time for Noxious Gas? Is it perma? How do you folks slot the power?

Would you recommend slotting for max recharge or is endredux sufficient?

I just LOVE Mid's but sometimes there's some wee bit missing.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
  7. Before I start I wanted to say hello to everyone and apologize for not being very active. Rest assured I still read the messages here almost every day and wanted to compliment the folks here for having the most mature group I've seen in years!

I have never built a stalker before and am very confused about a few things. I'll start with one very pressing question that has me confuzzled...

Planning a soft capped en/sr stalker on Mid's and looked at the total positional defenses and thought there was a bug. The AOE defense is SICK.

When hide is active, Mid's rates the AOE defense to an astronomically high level (the final build was around 80%). When I deselect hide the AOE drops to a normal level. My understanding of Hide is that, when fully hidden, you receive a greater bonus to defense. After Hide is suppressed, you retain SOME of your defense bonus but I'm not sure that Mid's actually reports that actual bonus. Does anyone know what the actual positional defense bonuses are when Hide is suppressed?

If the bonuses are significant enough, I'd be happy to skip Evasion altogether - one less toggle is always a good thing if it's superfluous.

Any help would be appreciated. Now to the mastermind board for another Mid's related question!
  8. Well, this has been happening to me for a while now, even before i16 came out. Somehow my brain has adjusted to ignore it, but when I saw your post I realized that this is probably the same thing I've been going through. It's particularly noticeable at the Steel Canyon WW (mind you I'm there so bloody often it's no wonder that's where I noticed it). This is on Freedom and Virtue.

Here's the scenario. I log in, click on a WW rep to check my sale status and everyone has an indigo-ish tint to them for a bit. I super jump it over to the University to craft and when I return the indigo is gone and now there is a light blue tint on everyone. One jump to my sg base and return to see red on all npc's and pc's.

I don't know what caused it and did find it mildly annoying for a short time, however it isn't 'bugging' me anymore so put it outta my mind.
  9. Thanks to everyone for the kind welcomes. Man, I used to dread using message boards but I've been feeling Super welcome coming here!

Quick question regarding my enigmatic contest - what day & time would be considered ideal for a larger turnout? I'm considering a Saturday evening around 7 - 9pm. Here are some details to consider:

The contest requires an hour commitment
The contest location is defaulted to Atlas Park as it needs to be something lowbies can easily access
The more participants involved, the more prizes I will award - up to a limit of 700M
If the turnout is too small, I may end up giving out "door prizes" consisting of rare recipes (gave away Numina's, Miracle, and the regenerative tissue procs in the past)

I'll be putting together some kind of advertisement on the freedom server boards with a friend of mine and start hamming it up when we get closer to the time of the contest.

And oops, getting in trouble for doing this at work! Gotta run gang
  10. Shortly after my initial post, my health went into a decline (chronic pain disorder). My apologies for not responding - playing the game every few days itself has been difficult.

With Issue 16 I've found that it is much more difficult to maintain an increase in influence, the market went south in a few ways and solo farming isn't providing the kind of inf to keep up the contests. However...

I'm working on a very different type of contest. The trick is that I *cannot* provide the rules in advance nor give any details besides how much Inf will be awarded. This means severe planning stage at this time as I brainstorm with a few friends on how to generate interest on this mystery contest. I'm in that planning stage now and will aim for the contest to be run in the second week of October.

There will be multiple Inf prizes awarded.

At least 3 prizes will be 50 Million Inf and if I can earn enough over the next few weeks there will be a prize of 150 -300 Million.

I won't give details at this time, but I'm sure to be accused of feeding my ego once the contest is underway.
  11. Remarkable suggestions everyone.

If only I was not burdened with being at work right now I'd spend more time replying and thanking. But let me say at this moment that you have all MADE MY DAY. I will be planning and plotting and intend to have activities posted to the forums as was suggested. Further, detailed responses to come...

Bless your hearts for your responses and have a Super Awesome Tuesday!

(Incidentally, a part of me feared being flamed here as well. But now I will NOT be discouraged!)
  12. Greetings heroes of Paragon City!

I'd like to describe a problem and see if you kind folks can assist me in a solution. First of all, I've been quite successful at grinding out a Super living with my main character, Super AwesomeMan on Freedom. I'm sitting on 1.5 Billion and fully IO'd. Every few days I hold a multitude of contests to inspire our heroic citizens to be invested in RP once more - to not merely grind out xp/tickets/merits or what traps most of us in the game. XP and money making devices builds characters at lvl fifty, but what happens along the way is we forget to actually LOVE the game and spend all our time at the grind.

    Not Awesome at all.

So I throw some contests. Broadcasting messages such as "Those bloody Freakshow villains have put a bounty on the head of Super AwesomeMan. If you can find him before they do and rescue him, Super AwesomeMan will pay a reward of $25 Million influence." or "The scientists of Crey Industries have developed a dastardly ray gun robbing Awesome of his memory. If you can remind Super AwesomeMan what the name of his secret identiy is, he will award you with $50 Million Influence." And so on. Holding not only costume contests for money and rare sets, but trying to liven things up with newer games too.

Now here's the problem. The moment I begin announcing these contests, I find myself getting flamed via broadcast by people saying things like "Lies. Super Bull@#$% Man is more like it" or "Yeah, I'll bet he's just going to give an influence transfer to one of his sg mates." or "Only 25 million, what a cheapskate". It takes alot out of the steam in building interest in these contests and BOY you should see what the ones that try but don't win say. I'm ending up with so many people on my ignore list that I've booted the first 15 ignored folks right off.

What am I doing wrong? Is it better to have fewer contests with larger prizes? What methods should I use in broadcasting these contests effectively (currently try to keep things interesting and semi-roleplayish as much as possible)? Is ignoring the negativity a mistake or should I defend myself in broadcast? I refuse to sink to their level as that lessens the spirit of my character, but am I appearing to prove their point by my silence?

Sincerely, this is really the point of making this character in the first place. Please offer tips and suggestions to improve my contests and help rebuild the atmosphere of rp our fine city - it really needs it!
