The private message issue appears to be that they don't tack on the pmid to the URL for when you click the button.

For example, when you view a PM, your URL address is this:
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/priva...m&pmid=1234567

And when you click the Reply button, the link attached to it is this:
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/priva...do=newpm&pmid=

That leads to a blank message. If you copy and paste the 1234567 from the original URL and then paste that to the end of the URL after you've click the Reply button and then press enter, the PM reply form gets filled out with the quoted text from the original PM.

It's annoying, but it's the only workaround I've found for it. Somehow the &pmid isn't being set to the Reply button for us.

    Issue 13: BUGS

    Levelling Pact
    Server: Triumph
    Zone: Any
Character name: Blue Phalanx (pacted to Grand Pumpkin)
    Time: Any
    Location: Any mission
    Mission: Any
    Mission Contact: Any (scanners primarily)
    Bug Description:
Once in a mission, both of us in a pact get messages saying we've gained XP, but the XP bar doesn't move and we cannot level while in a mission as a result if we get enough XP. Once we exit the mission, all XP accrued inside is instantly applied, leveling us up there.

    Chat (tells)
    Server: Triumph
    Zone: Any
    Character name: Blue Phalanx
    Time: Any
    Location: Any mission
    Mission: Any
    Mission Contact: Any
    Bug Description:
When sending a tell, it used to be if you hit escape it would clear the chat entirely so you could start typing in team chat. Now, what happens is when you hit escape, it deleted what you typed after the , but leaves the /t <name>, in the chat entry. So if you press enter it sends a tell. You have to click in the chat entry window, then hit escape again instead of just hitting escape once or twice. I'm guessing it's because it loses focus with the escape or something.

Also, tells are being corrupted somehow. I get frequent blank tells with no sender info or text, and recently got a tell from a user where the tell was blank and the name listed was the last 4 characters of the player name, so obviously only the last aprt of it got sent. This seems to happen most frequently when you receive a tell while zoning, but I've gotten the blank tells while just standing around outside a mission.

  3. My only concern is NCSoft has been experiencing some financial issues as of late, so I just hope it doesn't propagate down to this game if they have to cut back on anything.

Other than that, I think this change should work out ok.

Does anyone else feel screwed over since PlayNC won't accept mastercards to buy serials online?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yepl. I got my only credit card back eleven years ago with Citibank. Then it was Visa, but a few years back they converted everyone to Mastercard. So basically, I'm screwed here and cannot purchase the upgrade.

Alternate dimentions? Hmm, now that might help explain a lot of things, as soon as we get the typos out of the way. But how was I supposed to know it had ANYTHING to do with alternate reality?

For that matter, how did you know that?

I think there's a second story arc with Aeon and Echo. I'm not really sure, my memory sucks and I didn't take notes.

That's the one where he spawns as an elite boss right?

In a practical reason though, it would be to coordinate pvp. You could have a nemesis coalition, where you could coordinate base raids, or SG/VG battles in pvp zones. Yeah, you can try to use the forums, but not everyone reads the forums. Or you could add a global friend with an opponent in a pvp zone, but it's hard to coordinate VG/SG battles when you only know one person in the opposing group.

    It's called ventrilo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For inter-SG/VG activities, TS is great (I use it), but to find new VGs or SGs to fight against, it doesn't solve the problem. TS/vent isn't great for folks you normally don't team with, and are there for occasional skirmishes in pvp. Plus, I know more than a few folks who refuse to use voice software, or can't.

I'm talking about a mechanism to communicate with opposing factions to try and coordinate battles. In general, you're not going to share a channel between opposing sides, so you're still down to having to know ahead of time what their channel is, popping in, and trying to coordinate something with whoever is there. It's less efficient than a coalition system in my opinion.

When asking a "why can't" question, I would first ask a "why would heroes and villains..." question. Why would heroes and villains form a permanent coalition?

    [/ QUOTE ]

An RP reason would be collusion for PR. Some heroes and villains coordinate events such that the villains can look menacing, and the heroes look good trying to take them down. Then they kind of let each other get a hit in once and a while, and let their PR with their fellow heroes or villains rise.

Here are a few screen shot I got from the Beta ending. How do you get the labels and everything else to capture?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The command is /screenshotui 1 to make the trays and names show up in screenshots. Use 0 instead of 1 to turn it off again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or do what I do, do it both ways at once:

    /bind F1 "screenshotui 1 $$ screenshot $$ screenshotui 0 $$ screenshot"

This binds my F1 key to take 2 screenshots rapidly, one with the UI and one without. Good for times when you're not sure if you wnt the UI on or not. Yeah, it takes up more space, but I prefer it this way.

As we were fighting the player controlling Manticore in the end of beta event, he started letting loose some smack talk. Pretty funny. Asked who wanted the "enema arrow" and then plugged his Web of Arachnos book.

    Screens of his dialog below:

Positron also did alot of smack talking. He went on about how his armor held in his power so what chance did we have of hurting it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, the funniest Positron comment was when he started calling out for Satanic Hamster. On the CoV boards, Hamster said he was going to hunt down Positron in the event. So I found the "Must ... find ... Hamster" pretty funny from him in combat.

And of course the "you guys are all grey to me --- no XP".

  11. As an ar/dev blaster, my toe-mine/toe-bomb tactics are as follows. This assumed you use smoke grenade + cloaking device for invisibility (for those like myself who use combat jumping/super jump for travel instead of hasten/SS).

    1) Turn on cloaking device
    2) Throw a smoke grenade
2a) If this is post-I5 (or on test) wait a few seconds for suppression to wear off so you still have total invisibility
    3) Walk into the middle of the mobs, and hit the trip mine power
    4) As soon as you kneel, hit the backwards key (S) because after the mine appears, you have like 1-2 seconds before it activates and blows them up
    5) When you finish laying the mine, you'll start backing up immediately. As soon as you're back far enough, hit flamethrower or full auto quickly. As long as the cone attack was pressed *before* the mine went off (even if the explosion throws them out of the cone range once the attack animation starts) you'll still hit them all.
    6) Make smores over the burning embers of your enemies.
  12. My take on defiance is that it's a nice power, but will rarely be utilized because the point at which it kicks in is the point at which you either get healed by a teammate to keep you alive (esp late when a single volley could take 50% or more of your HP), you decide to run, or you pop an insp (respite or awaken, you have a 50% chance on using either). All 3 scenarios cancel defiance (healed or dead in 2, left combat in 1).

The idea of many to raise the ramp point is valid, but I think that may unbalance things. Instead, I propose a different type of buff. Make the defiance buff last the duration of buildup or something like that, and is applied whenever your HP drops. If it's time based to the HP, this way you don't have to worry about being a whisker from death to use this; your HP can swing back up from a heal when you're low but you don't lose the buff.

Let's say you drop to 30%, and defiance kicks in for a +80% dmg buff. Now you have a defiance 30% hp buff, and it lasts even if healed. Or, you were buffed at 30% HP, but dropped down to 10% hp from another attack, so now you get the +320% dmg buff immediately applied, overwriting the +80% dmg buff.

By making it a buildup type buff with a value set by your HP, you can be healed without diminishing the buff.

Oh, and the bar isn't needed honestly. If you're in defiance mode, I hardly think knowing how far into defiance you are is your top concern. Surviving is. I also don't like how it squashes the other 2 bars together either.
