The article has some factual mistakes in it. Gardvord are only Lieutenant class Trolls. Ogres and Caliban are Boss class Trolls. In the article it says that the Gardvords are the highest ranking Trolls, which is counter to what the in-game information says.

Or, it could be that, while the Calibans and Ogres are statistically stronger and Boss-class to reflect that, they don't make the best leaders, due to their physical advancement at the cost of Superadine-inhibited mental ability. Therefore, the Gardvord's, while not stronger and functioning apparently contrary to the notion of "stronger trolls = higher ranking trolls", it could be a concession to the idea they're more level-headed and better at organizing their groups.
Caliban: "Me STRONG! ME GREAT LEADER OF GROUP!"
Gardvord: "Yes. Yes you are. Just give minute to talk with others, I tell them how strong you are. Strong leader."
Caliban: "Yes! ME STRONG!!" *Walks off.*
Gardvord: "....Right. So, you get bombs, we remind Caliban later it was his idea because he smartest, strongest leader."
Not the best explanation, but you could always justify most anything with the right contrivances... And I haven't read the fiction rest of the thread yet, maybe it's been 'corrected' or explained...

In addition, I've never heard Superadine being refered to as "Supes". Normally, it is shortened to "Dyne" in the in-game NPC text.

I first encountered it as graffiti in an early Superadine lab mission; I just thought it was some kind of knowing reference to Superman, or somesuch. I felt rather silly when I later heard it as another nickname for Dyne, but, yes, it is much less used.
