  1. Well heck, if you got all the forms in and etc then I dunno what's up. I was just trying to put some logic to it. (granted, not that that always applies...)

And with the team, I was just going off your credits in the credited version.

Very impressive stuff and a lot of good information on your site. I watched the documentary and I'm sure I'll be keeping an eye on it for more stuff.

  2. The ONLY reason I can think of that Mr. Mechanico wouldn't have made it in would have been the rules (cause it was funny, and well done). But that's just a guess. There were a number of sound effects and music that came from external sources and it was made by a whole team of people (and possibly that didn't get approved beforehand). There was a director, several in-game actors, voice actors, a visual effects person etc. It was a whole professional squad of people.

Check our their site though for bios and a lot of good info on Machinima www.stonefalconproductions. Pretty interesting stuff.

It was too well done to just 'not make it' (IMHO).

  3. LOL, that's not bad...not bad at all

and let that be the end of Tom, no matter what he pops up with next.
  4. You guys can play with the children on the GT site all you want but, just in case it wasn't obivous yet, at this point they're just doing this to get a reaction out of you. They want to know how worked up they can get you.

After moderating messageboards for eight plus years I can tell you how to deal with this folks.

    1. ignore them (if at all possible)
    2. if they REALLY tick you off (like Tom), you have ONE SHOT at them. So make it good. Reply once and only once no matter HOW they come back.
    3. ...and this is the hardest (make them break the rules of the site and get themselves banned). This is a pain to do most of the time, and risky since it's really out of your hands in the end.

Considering the number of people that hit that site, there's a very low percentage of loud obnoxious people. The ones they have are just VERY LOUD....hey it's kinda like New York....(just kidding/sarcasm/sorry I couldn't resist).

They're playing with you guys because you guys are playing back.

So take this for whatever it's worth.

I'm new to this forum, but I'm an old fart when it comes to online forums as a whole. I created moderated official boards for David Copperfield, Dragon Ball Z CCG, Buffy the Vampire Slayer CCG and others (so I've got a range of age/experience with folks).

p.s. Oh, and not to misunderstand. I think the core message of DR's email (I won't be returning because of your community) was very well handled...this rant is just about dealing with Tom and his new friend.
  5. You guys are too much. I really appreciate it.

And scarf...I'm not sayin' anything about a c@$, I don't want to jinx it
  6. Oh heck yeah!

    Very nice.

  7. Hehehe, I consider myself pretty normal most of the time

I think "use" would be the wrong word. Let's take Babytoons for example. The easiest way to create those shots would be for someone to record their toon (not a signature toon) jumping from the top of Atlas and fighting etc. When you record it creates a text file. So you go in and edit the text file to replace your character jumping down and fighting with a signature character, like Lord Recluse.

That's in super simple terms. The coding that was probably involved with the shots in Babytoons is pretty amazing. It's no small undertaking.

So you see, there's no way to really 'become' a signature character in real time.

how does someone gain access to signature heros and villains like states man and lord recluse???

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a technique built into City of Heroes called "demo editing". It's a way to record/playback/and script your own scenes. It's completely text-based and about as much fun to code as pulling teeth from a shark...but the things that can be achieved are pretty amazing.

  9. Thanks a million all! You guys rock.

  10. Well dang it! First off, I can appreciate those that made it to the final five but I'm sad to not see some of my favorites up there. Doomsday, Star, and of course DR your work was amazing and inspiring. I'm sure narrowing down to five had to have been an incredibly tough decision. I know I wouldn't have wanted that responsibility.

And pay no attention to the negative comments....I agree, it just goes to show how great the community here is.

It's gonna be a sleepless two weeks.

    Todd
  11. Thanks all! For the comments on the image and especially for the posting about the contest. There were a ton of great entries (some that somehow didn't make it to the final five) so I'm just thrilled to be selected.

If you guys have like a second of free time, if you'd stop by the contest page and vote I'd be ever so greatful.

    Vote for "Infinite Dark"

    Thanks a ton!

  12. Thanks boss . If you haven't done one for your movies I highly recommended it, it was a blast, and somewhat theraputic.

Somehow I seriously doubt you'd need any 'help' in the design department...but that's not to say it would take away from any of the fun of trying. As I said, I highly recommend it, it was a lot of fun.
  13. Hehehe, looking up Mr. Duncan's agent now
  14. I didn't notice anything strange on my end Z.
  15. Ok, on to non-naval topics. I've been stuck creatively and decided to do something just for fun.

Sooooo, here's my take on the ONLY guy I can see truely playing 8 Baller in a live action movie. If "Infinite Dark" were a real movie....here's the desktop.

Yeah, I know...pointless, but it was a lot of fun.

    Live Action 8 Baller
  16. Ok, to get over my creative block I tried a bunch of things...one of which was doing something completely pointless. To that end, I created my vision of who (I think) would make an awesome live action 8 Baller. The more I think about, the more I think he's the ONLY one who could really pull it off.

Live Action 8 Baller - from "Infinite Dark"

The cool thing is...I think it worked making him and the corresponding web page was a lot of fun. Of course it could have been all the other stuff too. Anyhow, thank you guys for all the creative block breaker suggestions.

    You guy are de best!

  17. Well it looks like somebody's been busy tonight. The torpedoing continues...interesting enough only one movie seems to be moving upwards....and quite a bit in the past 24 hours.

Seems one movie, (that was previously below 7 until today) is now 7 and climbing.

    ...I'm just sayin'...

...and that's just sad...I mean really.

    Correction: he's now at 7.1
  18. Wow, a LOT of torpedoing going on today. It seems like most ratings have dropped sharply. I got a batch of three 1's in a row (most likely the same guy).

I'm so glad public voting is not the deciding factor.
  19. Wow, Aranos X is very nice. Love the composition and colors.

    Well done.
  20. Count me in DR. You've got my outfit from the demorecord tonight.

...somehow I sense PinkBaller may rear his head.
  21. I think I gotcha beat.

    Add up this equation:

    1. Texas
    2. Summer
    3. 45-60 minute commute
    4. NO AC!

  22. [ QUOTE ]
OK OK. Texas is UTC so it's an hour earlier so 7:00 PM Texas Time, pardner!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thank you
  23. I give up....what the @#$% time is that in Texas?
  24. I'm sure this is probably way out of date, but scanning my desk the box caught my eye I this question popped in my head.

How many of you have played Lionhead Studios game - "The Movies". It's a lot of fun, particularly for this crowd I would think. The only gripe about it is that you pretty much have to make the choice of a) playing the game to win (score well etc), or b) playing in sandbox mode so you can make decent movies. It seems pretty impossible to do both at the same time.

    Thoughts?
