Incase you missed it this is a COMIC game. I am not sure where or how you missed this point. The Devs gave us EPPs to cover things like Batman, night wing, DD would be a MA/SR with the weapons mastery epp. So this does not mean that mroe powers of this type can not be added, or that the ones in the game can not be made to look even better. How you can say the ugly looks = game balance is beyond me.
Also game balance is not more imortant to me as a player than theme and apperance. I have never been one of those "Not Fair!" people. This game would be better off if there were less of those type of people in it. Class envy in this game is worse than any game I have ever played.
Just remember this is a comic super hero game. People play this game to be like those heroes you said do not belong here because they do not fit youre view of balance. They work fine to me, but so does spines, claws and another scrapper primary with short range powers. Now if all fo a sudden it could hit from the same distance as my blasters do I may see some of these probelms people have with them. As it stands now they do not, so I do not. So there is no reason to not give the set a make over as every scrapper set has already gotten.

I don't need a new powerset, just make Spines bearable to look at, would have the same effect for me, one more usable set.
I really like the concept behind it, i even tried it, for all of six levels, then the hideous look made me delete the char.

You have a melee character tha has ranged attacks with none of the wekaness of the Blaster AT.
I'd say the spines look are one of the "negative" things arout the set. So let's redo their look and take away the ranged attack, would that be better?

This never gets old... or does it? Are daggers melee or ranged? How about batons/billy clubs? Yes the character V throws daggers at about the same range as spines Impale, and Dare Devil and Night Wing both throw battons/billy clubs at a far, far greater range than spines. Does that make these three characters blasters? No. All three are clear examples of comic scrappers with ranged attack.

I think this paranoia surrounding MUO destroying CoH is absurd. They are two different teams people. The games are probably not as similar as you would think either. From the way it sounds in MUO you will play a marvel character. Where as here we make our own hero. CoX and MUO are funded by two different companies, so the money for each is coming for different places. I am sure if Bob can not get a piece of art right he may walk over to Jays cube and say Hey dude I need some help. But I doubt Jack goes and says Jay you are going to the marvel div now.
Those who have gone from CoX to MUO more than likely chose to go. That is how it worked in every company I have worked for. You apply for a transfer to a new dept. just as if you were applying for a new job. And a few of the Devs who went there or to other Departments in Cryptic probably did it to get away from us. Think about how badly Geko was treated at times. Would you choose to stay around that?
I see us getting two to three issues this year, the only question I have is will they be full of the things we want or what they think we want. This leads me to think they should poll us a lot more on what we would like to see in the game. After all the motto is Give them what they want.

P.S. My vote is still for dual daggers. But I am a theme and concept person not a mechanics person. -
Remember when the devs said their goal was to give the players what they want? We want power custamasation. They need to realize that to meet that goal of giving the players what they want. Now granted there are other things we want too. Like new powers, missions, Evil epic ATs, and the list goes on.
What needs to be done is weigh those things against the players most desired thing. This I feel could be done thru a pole. I know that powercustamasation for me would be LIKE getting new powers.
for me custamasation is at the top of the list, and I am sure it is for many others. the visual aspect of the game is what seeprates a MMO from a MUD. Because all of the rest can be simulated thru a MUD or a table top game/PnP game. I play this for the social aspect, and because it looks cool. I am just asking we be able to make it look cooler.

I think most if not all of us would be happy if there was only one more issue this year IF that issue included power custamisation. Well, I know I would be any way. But as they have said it is not comming any time soon we are all kicking a dead horse here.

Truly the first time I have ever posted on it. I am sure it will not stay dead tho. There are just too many people who love the game, but hate the way their powers look. (example) BS is one of the ones I would to play, but the sword looks so plain. I agree I doubt it will happen any time soon, if ever, but we should keep reminding them that we want. The less we push for power cusomasation the easier it is for them to push it under the rug. Here I have seen it since I1 the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Sorry, but "we all" don't want Spines changed. "We all" want it left just the way it is.
In my opinion Spines are one of the best looking sets in the game and the way it looks was the main reason for me picking it in the first place.

Edit: Sorry mine was by far more snarky. Also I would like to be more clear on what I mean by "changed." Compare the skin of thorns to that of spines. It is a cleaner looking power. What I really think needs to be done is a reskin of spines. If it is meant to look like bones fine. Just make it look better. This has been done with many powers already. Just a clean up of the orginal design. Thorn melee is just a much better looking power (to me). Also When I first made my spines scrapper the spine from the hand was always out, I want that back. -
Odd how the one he (MAY) have liked best is the one with OUT the crappy looking body spines...

I was trying so hard not to reply in this thread. I PMed States, Recluse, and Cuppajo about CoV costumes being there for CoH players.
Thanks Statesman for comming through for me any way. I am glad to see these options added. Shoot I begged for them over PM to the afore mentioned people. MORE is always better, no matter what a few people say.
My grandmother used to have a saying "That person would argue with a sign post." I can see that that applys to several people on this thread.
Oh and do some of you people actuly read comics? There is no real distinction in costuming any more, there hasn't been in a long time. Look at Spawn he is a hero, and he has skulls and chains. Oh and Bizzaro has that goofy smile you don't think villans should have. The punisher, another skull on a good guy. Shoot the Spiderman Black costume could pass for an Arachnos agent, but he was a good guy. That costuming distinction left with the golden age. Welcome to the age of the anti-hero, and for that matter the anti-villain. Oh and the joker looks like a clown.
So just have fun with the game your way, and I will do it my way. I like the Dark hero look and plan to use it alot. If you want your heros to be shiny happy, and villains to be dark and brooding more power to you. Just leave me the hell alone while I do it my way.
Hey thanks again Statesman for giving us MORE costuming. Only thing I disagree with is, I think all players should get them, wether they buy CoV or not. And in time I suspect they will.

This was one of the hardest sets to define. It falls out of line with the "normal" Defender sets. It isn't a buff set, its a debuff set. Its really a different playstyle than Defenders have had before.
For those who complain that the Archetypes who have the fewest sets were overlooked... the next planned powersets are melee based.

My question is, are any of the signature heroes Scrappers. Or are any of the up comming Heroes scrappers. If either question has a "yes" for the answer, what are their power sets, and what level are they?
Also is it planned for PC to become a more permanent part of the world. With things like Plaque, or statues dedicated to a hero(es) or compleate great tasks.
Is there any thing planned storie wise for end game stuff?
Also I would liek to say out of all of the Devs (which I am none too happy with) I feel that you are by far doing the best job. You have managed to keep the comic book feel to the game even with these harsh power nerfs that are being put on test.

Add Accuracy a requirement to Burn
Make it unaffected by Recharge or Hasten
Or you could do something entirely backwards and render the defining power of an AT unusable.
Blasters also have Burn. Are they overpowered?

Based upon the great feedback on these forums, as well as conversations with Tankers in and out of the game, I felt that we needed to revisit some old issues and try some new solutions. The great thing about MMP's is that they can grow and evolve. Even better, the community can give us both qualititative (opinions) and quantitative (data) information.
So here's what we discussed.
1. By and large, the change to Tankers' Taunt is viewed positively. Instead of a single target Taunt, Tankers will have a Provoke in their Secondary Power Sets. Plus, the mob targeted will be autohit (just like Taunt). So you can pretty much guarantee that'll be done soon. But, as many have said, it's not enough. So that's why Geko and I talked at length.
2. Tankers damage is way out of whack compared to Scrappers' Resistance. Previously, I stated that Scrappers couldn't reach the Resistance cap. And they can't - UNLESS they resort to the Power Pool. That was my error. A correctly built Scrapper (with a lot of Enhancement slots) CAN reach the 90% cap. But a Tanker can NEVER do the same amount of damage as a Scrapper. This needs to be rectified. A Tanker should be as good at Resistance as a Scrapper is at Damage.
3. Some people don't mind the traditional role of a Tanker as a meat shield, other do. Most importantly, however, is that people seemed not to like to be a "provoke bot". It appeared that a Tanker's role was to sit there, take damage, and occasionally hit Provoke. A Tanker's attacks were nice, but pretty much an afterthought in the grand scheme of things. Well, that's not much fun after all. Provoke is fine; but the Tanker's attacks should be MORE important when combat gets started in holding aggro than shouting at various mobs.
4. The Burn change is a little too inconsistent with the role of a Tanker. A Tanker wants to keep aggro, not chase them away. Though it makes sense in terms of AI (bad guys fleeing damage), the power becomes not very useful for the Tanker. We'll probably be making a change to that soon.
In other words, I've said in the past that we weren't going to look at damage and that we weren't going to add any aggro to Tanker attacks. Well, I think I need to put my thinking cap on and come up with some solutions to the points above. I can't thank all the Tankers enough for sharing their thoughts & ideas.
Now - the change to Burn can happen relatively quickly - but the other stuff needs internal testing. I don't want to rush something out over the holidays. That testing will be a priority post Thanksgiving - so I'll keep you posted next week on the status.

I am glad you are back, because while I disagree with many of the things heppening in this game, and the direction, you and the dev team are heros of mine for the creation of the game. I am glad to know there is a reason for the you not replying to our "concerns" ( which I know are out right [censored]).

What I dislike is the fact that we can not take advantage of the DUMB [censored] who chalanges some one 20 levels higher than him/her. If they are stupid enough to do it they should pay for it. And I don't even plan on doing PvP.

Zyphoid was a Dr. But that was while ago. In his experiments he came across some sap from a tree of life. Hoping to use it to find a cure for the lymphoma that was killing his wife, he created a serum. Not willing to test this on his wife he went through several versions in lab test (no animals were harmed.) But with out a living subject to test it on there was no proof of the effects. So he did the only thing he had left and tested it on him self. The change was pretty gradual. Flesh turned black,large green veins swelled to the surface
But his wife never saw the monster he was becoming. She was killed in a mugging while walking in the park. This drove Zyph into a deep depression and what arose from the ashes was a hero.
With his powers the way they are, he no longer needs to eat or sleep. Recently through investigations he has learned that what he truly did was alter the creation of a colleague of his (skiping names to avoid spoilers.) Known as the will of the earth. Now he fights crime waiting for the day that he may become a monster. He stands around the train stations when he feels slightly tired (hehe I log off)
