  1. Would like to see temp powers charge, once you have the badge/accolade, either:

    anytime/anywhere you log off

at a fraction of the normal rate while you are logged on and playing

much more quickly when at the applicable logoff area
  2. So, lets see:

    1. Custom allies
    2. Custom Bosses
    3. Custom Contacts (placement of?)
    4. Custom factions?
    5. Large map selection
    6. Custom maps unlockable function?
    7. Detailed map placement of NPCs/objects?
    8. Access to different mission types (kill all, escort, timed, etc)
    9. Ability to combine mission types?
    10. Ability to flashback to MA mishes already below your level?
    11. Ability to reward temp powers?
    12. Availability of contacts and mishes in PvP and Co-op zones?
    13. Number of usable factions per map/map section?
    14. Use of factions at below/above their normal level range?
    15. Use of factions not normally available to red/blue sides?
    16. Use of NPCs only found in TFs/STFs?
  3. Faux windows

Waterfalls of various sizes; would include lava falls

    Molten pools

Natural tilesets, like grass, gravel, dirt, etc

More wallsets, like moss covered, glass, mirrored, plain, etc
  4. Any possibility of adding merits as rare drops; like Vanguard Merits... but from any faction; at a less frequent rate?
  5. so... what's the recharge time on the mission teleporter?

...and will it teleport you across zones?
  6. trust me... i tried to delete this post like 5 times
  7. thanks for the heads up on that... will have to edit that in on a revised edition... for some reason... I can't get in to edit my first 3 posts
  8. Part VI: Increasing your Endurance Efficiency (QVersion)

The aim is to keep your endurance pumping both in and out of battle.

    1. Slot Endurance Reduction Enhancements. One of the best ways to make sure you don't use as much time catching your breath after running out of gas is to not run out of gas.

    2. Taking the Blue Pill. Blue Inspirations give the user a fast boost in their energy bar; between 25 and 50% depending on the size of the Insp. (There's also a Winter Event Present Insp that gives you a quick buzz)

    3. Stamina. Stamina is a pool power from the Fitness pool that is available as early as level 20 (provided the two prerequisites for that pool are taken). It significantly increases the chances of being able to spam power usage in battles and significantly decreases the time needed to rest in between.

Although some builds can get by without Stamina, most will find better efficiency by picking it up and slotting as needed.

    4. Rest. An inexpensive way to amp up outside of combat is by improving the inherent power; Rest. Slotting it for Recharge and Interrupt Reduction helps it to be up and out the box in 'Killer Rabbit' builds. Using Endurance (and/or Healing) Enhancements) means less time sitting and more time hitting.

Sitting reduces both your Defense and Resistance so you don't want to sit for long.

    5. Toggle Management. Only use the toggles you need for a given situation and when you don't need those anymore, shut 'em off.

    6. Use the buddy system. In a team, it isn't always necessary for the whole team to throw everything they have at all mobs at all times; especially when there are differences in levels. Assigning level appropriate targets or tasks for the lower level members of your team can ultimately result in less downtime.
  9. Part V: Overview II

The faster you are, the faster you level.

Being able to cycle through attacks faster usually means that you're able to cycle through your opponents quicker, get XP faster and level more quickly.

However, there are a few other ways to increase the playspeed of your toons outside of combat. By decreasing downtime and/or increasing travel speed, you can up the rate at which you level; Regeneration and Endurance Recovery as well as the various types of movement will form the basis of the following sections.
  10. just curious about the 'Out of Combat' recovery and regen bonuses... how does the system differentiate the potentially different stages of combat:

    approach, first strike, fleeing, etc?
  11. Let's end one of these circles people seem to be arguing in right now.

The CoX day/night cycle is extremely disproportionate to RL time. What is it, 2 CoX days per RL hour (I don't know, maybe more/less) but at bare minimum you're looking at 24 CoX days per RL day with 30 RL days putting you at about 2 years of CoX time. That looks like a ton of leeway dictating how many jobs, internships, vocational and associate degrees a person could have stepped through in a year of RL (8640 CoX days/23 CoX years).

Personally, I've held 3 jobs at a time (2 jobs consistantly) for the better part of 10-15 years with changes in the job(s) from relocation and/or wage jockeying. Heck, between paper routes and summer programs (JTPA), I had burned through 7 between the time I was 12 and 18.

So, any of us military around here?

What does Airborne Infantry mean jobwise to you, or ParaRescue or Military Police or Guardsman/Reservist?

To me, the title represents a plethora of training leading up to and continuing past that one job title.

Most basic military personnel (outside of USAF) get weapons training, hand to hand training, first aid training, small unit training, drill and ceremony training, orienteering training, home ed training, basic security training, hazmat training, vehicle training, communications training, etc with a specialization/emphasis on whatever their career field may hold.

Even in home construction, a well-trained crewman will be trained in carpentry, bricklaying, electrical wiring, plumbing, roofing, tiling, insulating, sheetwalling, painting, etc... all legitimate jobs in themselves (lets not even get into commercial construction)

Did anyone ever watch an old TV show called 'The Fugitive'?

A toon is not concurrently holding 20+ day jobs, he's holding one job at a time... what the toon does have however, once they get 20-30 of these badges is more akin to a certificate of accomplishment, completion, graduation, time-served, merit badge, service ribbon, whatever.

Holding 30 of these badges doesn't mean that you are working all of these jobs at the same time... it just means that you've gotten enough training in each of these tasks that you are qualified to do any of these 20-30 tasks (at least in basic capacity) if asked to do so.

[/ QUOTE ] -Example: Right now, if I were asked, I could cook a variety of meals (Cook), sell products over the phone, the net and door-to-door (Sales/Telemarketing), handle sales transactions in most settings (Cashier), handle books (Accounting), prepare and sort taxes (Tax Preparer), operate forklifts, powerjacks and Dusenhafs? (Small Equipment Operator/Transport/Warehousing), do inventory, unloading and stocking (Inventory Control/Unloader/Stocker), manage in a fast food and retail capacity (Manager), etc... does this mean that I hold all these jobs at one time... emphatically, no.

But I have done all of these jobs to the point that I am proficient at them and have earned my 'badges' in each... although the two I currently wear are 'Parent' and 'Retail Associate'.

In addition, some of the 'badge's I've held required that I actually do work that was spread into 4 or more separate job titles (all with diferent job codes and paygrades) due to being shorthanded or the company being 'thrifty'. So yes, I've had the pleasure of sporting 4-5 badges at one time on occasion.

No toon is actually holding 20 day jobs at once, not even in the game mechanics... when you log out, you're only gaining time for one badge; one job; one set of rewards and that's it. When you apply that badge to your title, you're only wearing one job tag.

This argument that a character is actually holding X amount of jobs at the same time is baseless no matter which angle you approach it from; so please, please... refrain from bringing this back up.

Offering Web grenade to EVERY villain is a PvP disaster. I already get web grenaded by most enemies in PvP and now you are telling me you are going to offer it to ALL of them? and I can get a BATON????????????????? Something I have to be in close range to use ... UM IF I AM WEB GRENADED HOW AM I GONNA GET NEAR ENOUGH TO MY TARGET. Please think before handing stuff like this out. I already have a hard enough time with my blaster in PvP as it is and yes I DO have to brave it cause I want the pillbox badges. I am running set enhancements in almost every power and yet a soldier can come in and wipe me in 2 shots. Dominators hold me, everyone has a power to shut off my toggles (Hopefully you plan on extending the defensive toggles to heroes and not just villains to make them even more UBER) but I saw that and my first thought was "Great ... now EVERYONE is going to be able to stick me to the ground and pound on me" Common guys, if you are trying to create game balance you are way off the mark.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whether I agree or disagree; this is the path that I was expecting out of this thread... balance issues regarding temp/accolade powers in regards to the number that could be held at one time and the powers themselves.

  14. technically, they are not doing 'nothing'... even if viewed as an award... take it as an award for having a life (QoL feature?)

So when the servers are down for maintenance I can earn a new badge. Cool!

    [/ QUOTE ]

So when I move cross-state and have to wait 2 weeks for net, I can earn a new badge. Cool!

So when one of my children is sick and I have to sit up in the hospital with them for close to a week, I can earn a new temp power. Cool!

So if I need to unplug for awhile, I can get a welcome back trinket. Cool!

Don't look at it as an award... look at it as an incentive for you to take a break from the fake place more often (that, or they could start spamming, "Take a break, you've been logged in for X hours." messages in your chat box; like they do in Guild Wars.

Heck, look at it as an incentive to draw back players who have a tendency to take extended breaks without deleting their accounts (they've been doing a lot of that lately).

Look at it as an incentive to not get stuck on one toon. If you already have 20 alts... then content is not the issue; chances are you've seen most of it.

Even view it as a way to lessen liability in the event the internet becomes the target of various class action suits because people are becoming overly obsessed with some aspect of it causing social or physical problems which they'll try to blame on an addiction to MMORPGing.

There are many changes that are more geared for one segment of the CoX population than it is for another; whether it's RPers, PvPers, PvEers, Min/Maxers, Badgers, Casual players, Hardcore Players, Farmers, Marketeers, Prodigal Players, PLers, etc...

Badgers got the Flashback system in I11 (and the Candy Cane system last winter event)

Maybe, as I said, this one doesn't have your 'needs' as a priority... it's not like you CAN'T get all of the badges and it's not like most of your badge toons aren't near the irrelevant level of 50 anyway or close enough to clearing their badge wishlist to where (gosh forbid) they can take a break to get these extra ones.

I'm trying to picture what a level 50 badgehunter really needs to have their toon active consistantly for besides farming, PLing, marketeering and PvPing (which IMO, badgehunter PvPers exemplaring down to SC is weaksauce to the extreme being that Badge powers don't get greyed out and unbalance the PvP field to those who want to PvP and haven't farmed or powerbadged their way into their abilities by the time they hit 30 - same at vet powers).
  16. This issue is probably going to be a headache for the Mid's team.

And for those of us with legitimate mental disorders (obsessive-compulsive collecting habits)? Why benefit is gained from making us wait, inactive, and penalize us for playing the game we want to play it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Get professional help if you have a disorder of this magnitude centered around something that isn't tangible... don't force this disease on the rest of us
  19. So, let me get this straight:

You've been collecting coins for 4 years; something you picked up from dad or grandad or uncle... and they decide they want to impart their collection to you... either all at once or maybe 1 coin at every christmas and/or birthday...

Or grandma Betty signed you up for a coin of the month club...

    This would offend you?
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I don't agree with this at all. That said, it seems to me that there should be an option to "opt out" of Day Job rewards for folks who don't want to participate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is an opt out option (except for the Patrol XP), don't log out in a 'Job Area' .
  21. I heard it said somewhere, if you think you're leveling up to fast, earn some debt to take care of that problem, lol

or play at Villainous your whole trek to 50

or use Ouroboros to catch the contacts you missed

or exemplar down with lower level friends before you get out of their range

    or do a leveling pact

or focus on soloing over teaming

    did I miss anything?
  22. 1. It's an semi-optional system, if you don't like it, don't be an active participant in it and don't whine if you don't plan to use it (at least not continuously).

    2. This system is not about badging... it has badges attached to it but the main point of interest are the powers/benefits that come with taking a breather. I cannot sympathize with those turning this into a badge-hoarding issue (the term hoarding being more appropriate than collecting from what I'm seeing)

    3. Being that the system revolves around, what is essentially, free powers/benefits; then the current timing protocols are more than appropriate.

    4. I've already determined, even before the list came out, that it would be set up so that getting all/most of these powers/abilities would take time and that I would not feasibly be able to get them all. So I made a mental note on what I hope would be available and compared it to the list when it was released. It's about prioritizing what abilities I would like to see on my toon(s) and now that the partial list is out, I've already made a plan of action for both my active and inactive toons.
