  1. This theme is golden. Nobody can tell if I failed to submit this month, and nobody can spot my hypocrisy if I should now start to vote for myself.

My votes: 3pt/2pt/1pt = #6/#3/#1. I can't improve on Lousy Day's guesses, except to substitute Lousy Day at #3.
  2. Not sure of the point of saying you're fine with it so we don't need to please others. The product is in Testing, seeking feedback. But back to the point of this thread, here's some neat things I found with this kit:

    1. Spiked collar with vest produces collar studs - for that Starfleet officer look! I should have tried it with a red shirt...

    2. The Vanguard belt and this vest interacts brilliantly! Great hip pouches and the front and back panels look like they were always designed with this vest in mind. Sometimes it clips a bit, but mostly it just looks awesome.

  3. Some of the problems already identified I have a picture. I really hope the new double-breasted vests can be made right, it would be a dream come true:

    2) If you pick Classic Steampunk sleeves, you cannot get the colors to match the shirt underneath the vest. In some cases, the colors are way off.
    3) The bow tie on the classic shirt is nice, but you can't make it go away if you'd rather have something else. The usual neck options are layered underneath the bow tie when you select them. Could we have an option without the tie, so something else could be put there instead?
    4) ... 5) ... ...
    Look like this:

The first one is where I am today. The middle one looks good, even the brown clasps, except for the duplicate bowtie. The last one is too dirty by default to support white shirts - there are already greys available for tinting, so this should be just a trivial matter of lightening the base. It also has a duplicate cravatte. Hopefully those ties can be converted to Chest Detail options like other ties, or simply erased (in a separate version?) - that would make all ties available (and tintable) for the middle outfit by just removing the bow tie polygon!

I really hope there is still time to fix these, it is already such a huge step in a great direction.

I agree entirely. But the pack provides Victorian and Steampunk pieces, I hope it is not just the intersection of the two. Otherwise I'll be waiting for the "Victorian pack" for my clean and mix-matchable DB vest, which could be a long time coming.
  5. My goodness, I've always wanted a double-breasted vest, never imagined one might be created. It's almost good:

The first one is where I am today. I was hoping the women's sash-belt would be for men too, it would make a great cummerbund. I could avoid using that belt-with-eyeholes. The middle one looks good, even with the brown, except for the duplicate bowtie. The last one is too dirty by default to support white shirts (which were fairly common in the Victorian era), and has a duplicate cravatte, but is also very cool. Hopefully those ties can be converted to Chest Detail options like other ties - it could also make them tintable!

The chances of more double-breasted vests in future (ultimately of the kind like Pushkin's statue in a square in Moscow) would seem negligible, so hopefully some of these ones will come out right from the testing process. It's already such a huge step in the right direction!

Ayup. So when they arrive, and my wife asks who 'she' is, I'll say I got them from a guy. That should clear everything up.

Thanks for the compliments! I am looking forward to them too
  7. Dang if those aren't the cutest widdle heroes ever!

I'd definitely go for this if I could convince my wife I wasn't regressing or having an affair. I guess I could always ask for photos only. Knitwit is beating on the inside of my skull right now, telling me to hurry up.
  8. Jazzcarmona's Fenian and Gadgetboy looks fantastic! I hadn't imagined Fenian to be so pallid, I trust she's not related to Airhead. Must be something Gadgy said.

I'll submit an idea again for the thrill of an idea, and since it is based on something Caemgen said to me it won't be eligible to win. But try to picture this:

A bunch of villains (Crey vigilant, Freakshow stunner, Malta sapper) are buried up to their necks in the Talos beach sand, facing in various directions, looking VERY scared. Because behind them we see Knitwit and Caemgen 'bearing down on them' in a speedboat made of sand (a boat-shaped sandcastle with footwells). Their expressions are vengeful. Out back of the stationary boat made of sand is Airhead, waving while holding a makeshift "waterskier cable" tied to a plastic shovel embedded in the back of the boat. All on a nice pretty Talos beach with families.

That is absolutely gorgeous. Lots of story-telling, and from that perspective TA doesn't look so futuristic. Will definitely have to look up the artist!
  10. Almost not worthy to vote, yet still eligible... still need to point out the entries were awesome. Chose to vote based on how I understood the theme, since quality wasn't going to differentiate anyone.

  11. Umm, hokay, no, I wasn't actually scared off. I thought you might read that into my 'precious time' comment, yet you'd still appreciate the much deserved praise. I was in half a dozen countries this month, with another next week where I have to present on a new topic to an audience of 150 people of whom I know one, and most of my team is on various types of leave right now. So stop psyching me! I ain't got time to bleed art. Hopefully next month.
  12. An apologue for not making the deadline. I could make excuses, about how my precious time didn't allow me to come here, but then there's the truth. I did make it here, a few times, but every time the competition blew me away. So, you gust it, take it or leaf it, I wind up not regaling with the rest of you. It's going to be a tough vote!
  13. I should really be doing something for the April FArt efforts, but I just can't get away from work for more than ten minutes. But I did want to throw a crazy idea out there, even if it is just for the joy of throwing a crazy idea...

My character: Airhead and his Reference Sheet.
    Your character: Gorm Diabhal
Background: On the Wing of a Blimp, partly painted like an easter egg.

Scene: Airhead is painting the Atlas Park blimp to look like an easter egg, with rows of flowers and colorful stripes. Gorm Diabhal, a bit over 3' tall, is holding up two mostrous bunches of flowers for Airhead to use as reference. Airhead is holding a palette and brush. The roles could be reversed (perhaps easier to paint a blimp if you have wings).
  14. These are fantastic model sheets. Looking forward to seeing Cold Flake in colour... and cool to see Malfearance. Perhaps impossible to animate in-game for a player, but could be an intriguing contact. Give him a sniffle, put him in Boom/Baumtown, and have him threaten to sneeze again if players don't lure him a nigh invincible Rikti GM who could, in turn, take some serious league-team missioning to get him to arrive...

    These model sheets are fantastic.

Thanks Attache. It's what anyone might do, if radioactive people weren't such a load on the aircon bill. On a better note, it's an interesting coincidence this post follows yours - because here, after just a short wait (ten months...) is another Airhead and Janet Planet!

    Is that a marshmallow?
Gamb1ear's got so much style. Hallucenogenic. Unusual canvas shape. And the colours are serious stuff, with a pinkish nose that keeps him human. Gamb1ear's gotten much faster with his commissions now too, tho it's best to choose the option to have him do the colours too if you're impatient. Thanks G!
  16. I think I got a hanging chad...

But congratulations to CR and thanks to Defiance Jones, Jophiel and Lousy Day for your votes! It helps me look forward to kicking back in April.
  17. Thanks CR! Which 2 didn't you get? Some of them are especially badly drawn.

Thanks DD! I'd expected CR to solve everything. Bubbawheat snuck the answers into the first post of this thread, under the pictures.

Apologies to anyone not in my picture, I made the border first so I had to stop at 20. I got several ideas for the heroes from CR's art thread.
  18. 1. Tartyrsauce. Great fun.
    2. Darth Delicious. Nice touch with the animation.
    3. Christopher Robin. Nice palette. It was a close one with Henri.

Puzzle-y-ness did play a part here. I found Bubbawheat's the most frustrating, but so much more rewarding, once I got there. I was surprised to find the answer had similar inspiration to mine. But that's hardly a useful clue. I came up with answers to the rest except for Battlewraith. I expect I got CR's wrong, but I'll probably try again.

Defiance Jones' heroine with the sword looks very cool, police hat and Greek mask. Awesome basic lines. It'd be great to see it taken a wee bit further.
  19. Here tis:

Puzzle: Two's company. But.. WHAT is THIS?

This puzzle is perhaps simpler than the dialogue suggests. As a secondary puzzle you might try to figure out the context of their conversation, but some things are best left unsolved.

Good luck! Hope to see you there

  20. There's three swimmers with bouyancy. Might be technically illegal in the Olympics.

Got Dingodile on watch now. Classic home grown indie comic look, but with professional proportions. Cool.
  21. I might make it! Then again, I might not.

Two funerals, rescuing other peoples' projects, it got infinitely harder than it was. But today HR decided to shut the power off in the office to fix a faulty power socket (!!!!) and trashed the server in the process. Goodness knows how they convinced a tech person to let them in the fusebox. And all this on a day the IT guy was away. Good news, I had time to draw while the power came back on. Bad news, the trashed server (still being rebuilt from backups) meant nowhere for the photocopier-scanner to save files. So I have a quick puzzle picture, but I cannot upload.

Probably going to submit a day late, but I'm trending less votes each time anyway so no biggie
  22. That's beautifully coloured! Loving the splitcat and other greblies. Actually, they're awesome in black and white too, I just need to pay this thread more attention to make more timely comments

    Airheaded Vision

Chamba opened up bust commissions to raise money for Japan's disaster victims, and I joined in. It is hard to see how I can make a difference considering the enormity of what happened, but hopefully every little thing counts. I donated for a Knitwit bust, and donated the same again directly to Save the Children.

If I could draw like anyone in the world, I'd want to draw like Chamba.

I got a chance to make another contribution yesterday. We'll be billeting a displaced Japanese family in our tiny place in Singapore for the next week or so, until they are ready to go home. This will likely impact my March Fan Art submission, but I'll see what I can do from my office.
  24. That's my plan! Theoretically, there's still time.

I just need to hire two people, write a dozen articles, manage my Vietnam and Singapore projects to completion and, well, draw something.

Theoretically, there's time. Oh, and priorities, I guess. It is still on my list...
  25. Great linearts Caemgen! Despite your heroes' takedowns by the voteable hot chicks. The colored Aposcar is particularly ferocious, I missed that one when you first posted it.

The group pic is pretty spectacular. Alpha looks like Caemgen's wing missile
