I'm curious to what your build is then and what levels you are fighting at that you find yourself in hot waters. My DM/SD can cake walk through +2/x8 maps and do +3s as well. +4s are doable as well, but I find the time it takes to kill the bosses of that level is not worth the effort.

Others are darn near impossible (Iron Man leaps to mind...).

Basically, you can get heroes that bear a passing resemblance but they're never quite right.
Thor is also a pretty easy one. Iron Man I would think be a Energy Blaster.

  4. I've been wondering if there are any other ways to reach peak positions in both of these areas. Without being a Stone Armor in Granite.

  6. I have three friends in game right now who consistently play their BS/SD.
  7. Do you like the power? Or do you find it worthless/pointless? I have two Shield toons and it is the only power that I skip. For one I am not a fan of crash powers, but if the boost justifies the crash then I would definitely think about it. I played with OwtS on my DM/SD Scrapper for a while and don't miss it at all.

If the power could be effected by recharges then I might think about giving it a chance, but not likely. I don't think the increase to Resistance etc is worth it when majority of Shields revolves around Defense. I look at OwtS compared to Granite or Unstoppable and just laugh.

For me it's not about creating them to play in game. But more of stating them out to see how people would view them and if it is plausible. I've always loved stating things out in every game I've plated. It be table top or mmo's.

    Stone/Dark Melee

Thanks for the info. Now I'm curious if I can achieve that with my DM/SD Scrapper who is soft capped at 46-47%, by throwing on a Purple insp.

    Stone/Dark Melee

Hmm. Guess I need to look into that TF more then. So I take it does matter what towers to take down first?
  12. I was wondering if there is any updates to the time line that is posted on the main CoH boards. The stuff on there stops in 2002, is that the current year still? if not how many years have passed since that event, what is the current year and what all has transpired since then.

Curiosity got the better of me and wanted to see how people would stat up their favorite (or well known) Super Heroes/Villains. We did a thread similar to this in the SWG mmo where we created builds that fit the known Jedi/Sith from the movies etc. Thought it might be cool to see some builds of well known people in Comic/Movies/Myths.

I've seen builds for Superman, Captain America, Hulk, etc.

    Stone/Dark Melee

Thanks for the quick reply. Being so slow is one of the concerns I had about Granite. Mostly the reason I thought about making a Stone Tank was to have someone to tank Recluse in the Statesman TF, if needed.

I'd like to get some feedback on this build, as well as from people who have tried this combination before.

Off the top of my head, if we were to try and keep everything like the current Booster Packs, then I wouldn't have the entire 6 years worth of Vet costume sets in one pack. What I would do is break it down into 2 or 3 Booster Package deals. The first one having the costume pieces from the first two years, second one having the next 2 years, then the third having the last-current two years (Or we could break it into three year groups). That way as the years go on they could keep doing these.

Now I am not saying you receive everything from the Vet rewards program. Just the costume items. You won't be getting the character respecs, or temp powers associated with them. To keep things 'fresh' and make purchasing these packs to everyone. They could add in a few emotes as well as expand on each group/pack. First package for example could include more Trench-coat tails/sleeves, etc.

    Booster Packs

Starting off I would like to say that so far I've liked the booster packs they have released. I also understand that the Mutation one will be coming out before Going Rogue? (Not sure) One of CoX biggest appeals to me is the customization that you can do. All of the different options that are out there. Call me greedy, but I want more. lol

One of the things I have noticed are the Vet rewards. Angel/Demon wing, Samurai armor, etc which are all available down the road once you have been here for so long. I've only been playing the game now for 11 months (June 18th is my 1 year marker!). I would love to be able to get all of those extra costume items, but there is no way that is happening any time soon. Now I understand when it comes to Vet rewards in games things can get a little touchy for some people. One of the things I was wanting to ask is what everything thinks if they did a 'Veteran Booster Pack'. It would not have anything except the costume pieces in it. Maybe make it into two different packs to spread things around.

Another thing I wanted to discuss, or let out there was something about Jetpacks. Currently in game not only can you purchase Jetpacks from the FBZ, but there are temp power recipe drops for them too. With these two things available, what is the point of the $6 Jetpack you can buy that lasts a month. Why would anyone buy that when it's much cheaper to get one of the first two options. What I would like to see is the Jetpack available for purchase online to be made a permanent Jetpack. Maybe through on another 4 dollar, maybe even make it into a package where you could choose which graphics skin it would have. Thoughts?

So his shield destroying chains is valid. He hasn't thrown it fast enough to catch up with missiles or outpace bullets since he stripped out all the tech Tony Stark added to it in the early nineties either. Tony had built tech into the shield which allowed cap to control it like a boomarang, among other things. That was ditched less then a year later.

Mainstream Cap bench presses roughly 800 I believe.
I have scans of him doing said feats (Throwing shield to catch a missile, throwing it faster than someone shooting, etc). I'm not making stuff up, there are two Marvel characters I know front to back and every impressive feat they have ever done. That is Captain America (Steven Rogers) and Cyclops. Also Vibranium is not the same as anti-metal. There are two types of Vibranium in the world. Type that Black Panther uses as his suit, and then the type that rips through any known metal. Such as Warpaths knives. His breaking the chains was with his bare hands, same as breaking down the doors. Not using the shield in those instances. Spider-man is a 10 tonner.

Mainstream Cap has bench pressed 1,100 pounds. If you don't believe me go to a site called ComicVine.com. I'd be more than happy to enlighten you there and post the scans of Mainstream Cap doing everything I said he has here.

Edited: Not sure how to post pictures here. But easy way to see if I am lying or not is to just check the following link. It takes you to one of the debates I have had there on ComicVine, and has dozens of impressive Captain America feats. Including the ones I mentioned above.

The 616 Mainstream Cap has actually gone up against the Hulk more often. As well as blocking strikes from him and holding his own. If you look at just feats of strength alone he constantly does things in the super human strength level. Working out he is able to curl 500 or so pounds (have the scan but forgot the exact number on this part) as well as we see him bench pressing 1,100-1,200 pounds. Not to mention the number of times we have seen him throw his shield faster than a bullet travels. Also thrown it to catch up to a speeding missile and sever the chains that were keeping Falcon strapped to it. Breaking down reinforced steel doors with his hands. Bending guns, lifting huge tree trunks. Not to mention the number of people he has knocked out with punches that have superhuman durability. The list goes on with tons of impressive things that he has done over the years. Strength fears that exceed his Ultimate counterpart.

So last night I made the changes and tried things out then and some today. I must say the overall performance is exceptionally better in the damage department. I've also run into zero End problems. Before I came to these boards to figure out my build and to get help on things. The farm I was running to help friends level or to gain influence took me about 50 minutes to run through completely once alone. Since then with all the tips and changes yall have helped me make, it takes just over 20 minutes now. lol

Again I'd like to thank all of you for the help and patience with me to figure this out.

    Thank you

With the animation changed a number of the MA attacks can be seen hitting with the 'shield' arm, along with Brawl like you mentioned. The same can be said for a number of attacks from Energy Melee, Electricity Melee, Dark Melee, and Super Strength. So visual wise you can be attacking with your shield, though name sake wise it's not the same. So I understand why some people would complain or want actual shield attacks.

Either way I'd like to see more Power sets. It be primary and secondary, or give us some more power pools. I know going Rogue is giving us some, but this game has been out long enough where we should have a Lot more customization to pick through. imo

    Shield Offense

Now I agree that throwing the shield is a little far fetched as using it for a weapon. But we all know who made that famous, hence why people would love the chance to be able to replicate that. However I do not agree that the shield could not suffice as a primary weapon. Essentially it's a darn good weapon, for offense and defense. The reasons for defense are obvious so I won't go into them. But offensive wise it has a number of uses. Besides straight up bashes, which could be more damaging than a actual punch. While not running the risk of breaking your hand or something else. It could be used as a slashing time weapon using the outer edge of the shield (which does not have to be filed down into a sharp edge..). The same principles apply for that as why Martial Artist use not just their hands, but why we have elbow strikes.

    Shield Offense

I tend to think of Energy Torrent as my 'Energy' Shield Throw and leave it at that. As I'm pretty sure we'll never get to see a Shield Offense power set. I wouldn't mind a Shield's power pool however. It could have a Shield Bash attack, a Defense toggle or some type, then perhaps the much wanted Shield Throw in there as well. Throw in a fourth power and you got a power pool.

Of course I personally would love to see more power pools. Another version I would like to see implemented is laser eyes (Optic blasts, heat ray vision, whatever you want to call it). One would be a snipe type attack, another a wide beam with a knock back etc.

A third set I also thought would be fun was a Technology type power pool. Name needs some work. One of the 3rd-4th powers could be a Jetpack, or Glider. Some type of travel power for those none super powered folks out there. Of course with Jetpacks now being able to be bought, as well as looted as temp power recipes. There is not much need for that. Ninja Run + Hurdle pretty much took care of that too.
