    Admin's Global?

Does the admin, dev team, gm team have an in-game global handle/email address?

    Personal Opinion

I am, as always, strongly in favor of client-side filtering. Something like:
    Accept email from:
    o Friends
    o Global Friends
    0 Supergroup
    **o Teammates
    **0 Coalition

    [/ QUOTE ]

I could go for this as well with the default being Friends and Global Friends (as this is what the player has the most control over).

I marked teammates; being that they really don't need to email you while you're teaming (Tells and Team chat)... plus if they're good enough to be in your email list then why not just add them to your Friends list.

And unless you coalition is a tight-knit group; I wouldn't advise that as an option either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, why are you coalitioned with them if you can't trust them?

That and I was thinking of groups like the Legion of Catgirls and Repeat Offenders (The Legion of Repeat Catgirl Offenders?) as well as just dealing with leader to leader email.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not every player 'owns' a SG, so they don't have direct control over who their SG gets cozy with; low-ranked SG members may be co-aled with people they don't know. Again, however, if they find a few coalition members that they like and trust enough for email correspondence, then why not just add those people to their Friend list.

Actually, just being able to limit incoming emails to those on your Friends lists should be solution enough. Everybody else can use the chat/tell channels.

As far as 'tinfoil hatting' goes; I get an average of 3 spams a day, every day. My block user list is full; any attempt to add someone to the list automatically takes one off the list (not that it matters being that I get them from at least 2 different names (or 'empty') daily).

Obviously, the sites aren't getting stopped either, being that it's the same 2-3 that keep managing to get their spam through.

And for MA writer who can cram a Beginning, a Climax and Ending into one mission and tell a great story. You'll get a 5 star rating from me hands down.

Sounds like a goal for me... but not much of a stretch

    Contact - Beginning
    Gameplay - Climax (other info)
    Souvenir/Contact - End
  6. Well, I'm sure glad my arc has no depth to it, lol
  7. Most of the spams are pretty much form letters and a block by keywords would be more efficient for player use than what we currently have.

Being able to set as few as 3-5 keywords (and having them apply to the body of the email) should be able to cover major points such as the site name, pricing, etc.

This would force the RMTers to have to continually change the body of their texts with them hoping that their recipients aren't blocking their key words or any of it's variants.

And they run the risk of losing a good portion of their spams to the various (different) keyword filter combinations being used by the playerbase.

[A good algorithm should be able to filter out the 'CAPS' combos (and possibly other types of combos?).]

[I still get spam from at least 2 sites, which have been unblocked for over 3-4 months (modestly)]
  8. 1. I feel that we should be able to block incoming email if it contains keywords of our choosing as opposed to the current block sender configuration.

As it stands, there is a limit to the number of senders you can block and once you hit that limit, you're at the mercy of ever other randomly generated username that happens to crop up with spam attached to it.

    2. I also feel that we should have the ability to 'empty' our inbox in one fell swoop.

    Thanks.
  9. Last interjection.

There is also the possibility that every possible scenario of existence started into being upon its creation. Every conceivable origin, progression, nuance and outcome continues to be created at an infinitely exponential rate; our own view only a microcosm within multiple mircocosms.

A would be traveler would need to be able to scale out of the many mini scales many times over in order to see what would appear to be hard to follow hairline fractures dancing withing hairline fractures across an unknown medium.

But most would only find themselves traveling to a point already catered to the progression that they wish to follow (as it has already been created).
  10. Another funny thing that can happen with the ability/tech to time travel is that two separate groups may utilize two different methods which could concurrently exist but follow different 'rules'.

So, while group A's tech may limit the extent of their ability to transverse time to only functioning as an observer; group B has already progressed to the point of inadvertently creating parallel time-lines in their attempt to change past events

Meanwhile, group C is capable of exerting mild influences at points along the time line in the form of 'apparitions' and duplicate transmissions of a message embedded into a seemingly inconsequential event, ala deja vu.

A story could feasibly utilize all three and could also feasibly wrap even more around a single protagonist; so forcing consistency of a single method within a story isn't necessarily the 'end-all'. Nor is a fluid transition (or subsequent explanation of that transition) an absolute requirement; although the reader, and more importantly the protagonist, would like one.
  11. Time travel is another jacked up can of worms whose entire basis of debate hinges on how one chooses to define it:

Do you actually go back to the exact same time-space point you plan on going to

Do you actually appear to go back to the same exact time-space point you were planning on going to only to have stumbled onto an existing parallel of 'same total events'

Do you actually appear to go back to the same exact time-space point your were planning on going to only to have stumbled onto an existing parallel of 'similar total events'

Do you actually appear to go back to the same exact time-space point your were planning on going to only to create an existing parallel of 'similar total events'

    etc...

then applying the various 'rules' of matter displacement; through presence and degrees of motion (or non-displacement) to each of these...

then figuring out the converse and limitations of traveling forward

then figuring if any of these lines could/would actually cross one another or pass close enough to be significant.
  12. Steam-driven technology is modifiable by any change in the liquid providing the steam; which opens a plethora of interesting scenarios.

Sentient water with a phoenix-cycle running parallel with its matter changing

Subatomic representation of steam power used to enact tech at the current 'normal' scale of perception

    AI embedded Nanotech

Advanced prototyped tech that allows for the maximized optimization of steam-based functioning with minimal outward indications of that use (like condensed steamcore power cells with advanced electrical conversion, storage and recycling).

Then there's figuring out exactly what is read during a Rikti mind read... and how its read...

    Dark/Pain?

I usually stay away from Night Fall; but Tentacles gets really nice when used with a solid recharge boost

Dark Pit gets a bad rap but it can be used with Tentacles to give you a little breathing room to get off other combos or powers like Moonbeam.

I'm not sure how much I'm liking /Pain though, unless you're planning on doing a lot of teaming; I would pick a different secondary.
  14. With base point cost being higher than badge-earned gladiators; modified by Rank and Primary/Secondary difficulty.

Could either be set up as it's own class of gladiatorial combat or be mixed in with the current set up or both.

Vengeance cannot be used on pets of any kind, if that's what the OP is getting at.
The target must be a defeated player.

    Vengeance?

Are other players the only legitimate target for Vengeance?
  18. I have no damage issues with my current controllers.

Containment does wonders against single targets early on and post Stamina; mobs should be getting their behinds handed to them.

Most of the primaries have something available early on to help mitigate mobs so that you can pick them apart at a more leisurely pace; like sleeps, confuse, slicks ,etc.

And this is all just offerings from your primary. With secondaries, like /Kin and /Rad; you can really start pushing out acceptable damage (and then some) before too long.

    Just watch your endurance bar.
  19. /Kin doesn't need a buff and although SB is a good power; the combination of each teammates' individual builds plus:

SP + Fulcrum Shift (and possibly Assault) for huge damage buffs and a light to moderate resistance buff (damage debuff)

A small team heal that doubles as a spammable sapping tool

and a nice team endurance replenisher that also acts as a sapping tool is an offering that's hard to match by the average set...

when combined with a Controllers ability to lock things down and otherwise cause major hinderences to a mobs ability to attack in the first place; SB shouldn't really be a power to be getting bent out of shape over.

There will be exceptions, but for the most part... a person should be building their toon to the point where a little extra +recovery or +recharge shouldn't be a make it or break it point for their gaming experience (ie. it's nice when they get it... but they really shouldn't need it).

SB, from a Controller, should just be considered icing on a nicely stacked cake.

(IMO, If you're part of a large team whose combined individual build components; self and team buffs are so ineffective that it's survival or functionality hinges on a single power from a single player, chances are that either that team sucks or that power is overpowered and needs to be nerfed.)
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Staalker: You play the game your way, and I'll play the game my way - however, my way involves kicking people who play your way off my team.

The bottom line - when I get a mastermind on my team, I want a mastermind. I don't want a third of a corruptor. If you fail to meet my extremely low expectations of what a party member should do, you're not welcome in a team that I lead. This means tankers without mez protection. It means kins without SB. It means sonics without shields and it definitely means MMs without pets.

I have fun in this game when I have teams that do well. Do I have to be playing the best possible builds? No. Do I have to playing a build that can go up to an average spawn on most difficulties and handle it without too much trouble? Yes. Do I have to be playing a build where I don't feel like dead weight on a team because I'm less than half of my archetype? Yes.

If I'm an employer and I'm hiring for a job that involves heavy lifting and one guy shows up with only one arm, hell yes I'm not going to hire him.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A /Kin without SB, in no way, shape, form or fashion is comparable to a MM w/no pets.
  21. Is Transference's 'Targeted AoE' applied against the mob or for the team; or both?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I'm actually gonna go the opposite direction on this one, OP--

I think origins should just be taken out. Why? I see origins as an artifact of an interesting idea that was experimented with and eventually tossed out...except for the origins part that we have today.

As it is now, it's mainly an RP tool--but what prevents us from simply including a blurb about it in our character bios? This also solves the problem of multi-origin characters. What if I had a magic-user that also used technology?

AFAIK, the only thing in-game that origin determines are things like SOs and DOs. Is distinguishing between origins REALLY necessary for that? You could just as easily have 3 tiers of enhancements (basic, intermediate, advanced, or something like that).

I dunno, just my thoughts on the matter. On the other hand, I suppose it IS cool having the origin symbol thing by your name. XD

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't see them being taken out being that so much has already been invested into it:

    Contacts
    Enhancements
    Arcs
    Characters
    2 Issues
    etc.
  23. wow, didn't expect things to get so bent...

We are aware than origin specific powers need not be restrictive, exclusive or even all inclusive?

Example: There are one or two temp powers already in play that have one effect for most players and a different effect for those that share the origin of the temp power.

I see no reason why that couldn't be applied to other already existing temp powers or procs.

Nor do I see any problem with allowing minor power boost type bonuses when teamed up with toons of the same origin.

But that aside; I was assuming there'd be more frequent powerset proliferations based on Breakthrough's premise or more detailed arcs available from the contacts that Ashley McKnight sends you to.

Or even more origin specific EATs (being that we already have two that are origin specific) along with corresponding EAT arcs.

limiting power selections(even if they're new powers added to the game) based on origin is a bad idea. it's that simple. Every single power you could come up with could be explained to come from any origin. Origin shouldn't serve that type of function. They tried it pre-beta, and during beta, and it failed every time.

pre-beta they had a setup where Mutantas could select (example, not actual numbers) 5 powers, but only enhance them to a mid-level, and Tech could select 3 powers, and enhance them fully.

then they tried what Backfire mentioned, it too was rejected.

this game is as restrictive as it should ever be right now(and it's not at all compared to other games). Adding in content that causes more restrictions would be bad.

    Edit:

Xyzyx had a great example with the witch broom flypose, I'm all for origin inspired content, as long as it's not restricted to that specific origin.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Quoted for emphasis.

The origin-themed Super Booster packs are as close to origin-based content as we're likely to get.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was just going to say that there are already temp powers, costumes and emotes that are origin-based coming down the pipes, they aren't restricted however... and they don't pick up where Breakthrough or Cimerora left off.
