Quote:Well after I changed the "bbsessionhash" cookie to expire in 2079 (I figure if I'm still here at 109 years old, I could manually reset the cookie if needed) and actively prevented vbulletin from changing it, I'm still logged in this morning after a cold boot of my system.Still had to log in twice so far today

What's really crazy about this bug is how inconsistent it is!!
I'll probably still have to log in later today or tonight though. -
I couldn't log into it for about 2-5 minutes, but then was able to get in.

I'll point out that after I decided to do something and get a cookie editor, it took me all of 5 minutes to see which cookie was improperly set. -

The log in cookie is possibly still set to 24 hours, but we've talked to the appropriate parties about having this changed to 14 days.

You might have heard of it.
Every single time I close the browser. Every. Single. TIME. It doesn't matter if I closed it 5 minutes ago or 24 hours ago. The forums require me to log in every time I want to use it.Quote:Is this still happening?

Even if I leave the forums up in a browser tab for more than 2 hours, I have to log back in. -
Quote:Sometimes I think every game in existence has this already.Schrödinger's MMO - You are simultaneously having fun & not having fun at the same time.
I don't think having a Paranoia MMO is a bad idea though.Quote:Paranoia Online: All the players are against each other. The computer is against the players. While it could be fun, the game would be over in 30 minutes.. tops. So it would be build by very sadistic devs that just wanted to mess with players. Heals are green.. everyone starts out as Red security clearence.. hehe
I was once killed by M&M's at a con by playing Paranoia. I didn't have the clearence for the yellow M&M's.. So I then turned around and shot their character for being a traitor to friend computer... then planted the evidence that they were a traitor to friend computer.
I can not beleive that someone didn't already say Paranoia online...
My faith in humanity isn't completely ruined then.Quote:Mary Kate and Ashley Online.
Yes, this was actually pitched.
No, it was not opted.
My 2 Inf for the thread:
Community Manager Online. Doing what Zwillinger, Avatea, Beastyle, Cuppajo, Cricket, Lighthouse, Ex Libris, and all the rest do while paying the development company to do it. That would be a terrible idea. -
-
Bottom line:
The pure "F2P" player is running a demo. It is an extended demo, but a demo none the less. $5 to unlock some of the features isn't too much. If it is too much for the player, then the game is likely better off without the player.
If a free player really wanted to earn a lot of influence from the market, the options are there:
160 Paragon Points (USD $2) for 30 days of the auction house.
160 Paragon Points (USD $2) for 30 days of the invention system
That is 320 of the 400 Paragon points for $5.
The player can buy auto-levelling enhancements from the market if they wanted and never have to worry about the enhancements "going red".
My advice: Stop treating F2P as anything other than a demo, because I'm positive that the development team is looking primarily at subscribers for their ongoing revenue.

Quote:And all the new mid-level content is built for teams. Your point? The original content maybe but not so much the newer stuff. Mid-level content has gotten noticeably harder over the years. A dramatic increase in the use of ambushes has been combined with foes that are, on average, more powerful than the older ones. The combination
Come on. Even the original poster's wife isn't soloing.Quote:Again, I have to wonder where you are coming from with this? Given the number of threads on this forum regarding the teaming in Incarnate content I think it's reasonable to assume that we have a significant number of players who do prefer to solo. I'll also add that given the restrictions on free players it's not unreasonable to assume that an even higher percentage of them spend most of their time solo. I know when I started I didn't really team at all until I was past level 45.
I'll also add that one of the big advantages of CoX compared to other MMOs is that it is very solo friendly. We can debate whether it's worth playing an MMO solo but that doesn't change the fact that for CoX soloing is a valid playstyle.
I team from level 1, except in Praetoria. No one seems to be there. Given the constant stream of Death From Below trials announced on the help channel (even on a server like Triumph), I don't think the lack of teaming is a problem. -
Quote:There is a hidden accuracy bonus until level 20. Slotting accuracy before then gives a worse impression.Seriously? I can agree with the first point, I rarely bother to use TOs myself but not using DOs until level 22 or SOs until the 30s sounds like a horribly painful way to play, especially if you solo.
Yes, maybe this is how it worked when the game was new but given the way that the game has changed over the years I think it's unreasonable to expect a new player to function that way. Additionally, it does not present the best impression for the game, playing with underpowered enhancements creates the impression that the game is a lot harder than it is which will turn off some potential players.
Dual Origins are available to the mid-late 30s, so it is reasonable to conclude that the game is still balanced for them to that point.
Lastly, this is an MMO, you're not expected to solo. -
A couple other touches were missed in the initial write-up:
- The mounted heads eyes' had a fade-in and out glow.
- Halloween version "American Gothic" painting.
- If you went to the left side (facing the Abomination) of the area in front of the graveyard, the sky turned from a sickly green to blue-black and lost the fog.
I'll see if I can find the pictures later. -
Quote:Hey all,
There's currently some issues with the Hero (blue) skin on the forums.
We're investigating and will let you know when it's corrected.
Thanks!
And yes, this is irrevocable proof that devs hate Heroes.
This is the correct response. -
Quote:Use Dual Origins below level 30, use a mix between 30-40, and Single Origins after level 40. Combine what you have with drops. Why would you slot new SOs at those levels? On almost all my characters, I slot new SOs at 22, 27, 32, 37, 42 and 47 (and I wonder why you'd need to slot new SOs at 50). I guess basically I'm asking for the strategy of waiting the extra level, when you *could* slot new SOs one level earlier. I somehow get the eerie feeling I'm missing something big that has somehow eluded me all this time.
If you are combining enhancements, you get a bit more life out of some of your enhancements, and save Inf.
Exactly, which saves Inf. -
Quote:You're doing it wrong. Again:I am stating a very clear point. The Devs have clearly stated SOs are what the game is built around. If you run regular content and get to 22 and again at 27, you will not be able to afford SOs. This can cost us the opportunity of retaining new Freebs that are giving us a look. That is stupid.
- Don't buy Training Origins. Either use what drops, or better yet, sell them to the vendors.
- In the 20s, use Dual Origins. Only slot at 22-23 and 27-28. Sell everything you can't use, and sell any Training or Single Origins to the vendors.
- In the 30s start using Single Origins. This does not mean replacing all your Dual Origins, only supplementing them. Again only slotting at 32-33 and 37-38. Don't slot everything to max. Sell everything you can't use to the vendors.
- At 42-43 and 47-49, yes slot only Single Origins. Do so when you can, combine with drops when you can, and don't expect everything to be slotted to +3.
- At level 50, start slotting to 50++, and do TFs to get 51-53 Single Origins.

Quote:Wendy, check this guide I just made: Mini-Badge Guide and Popmenu: Efficiency ExpertOkay I logged on and checked the missions available between 45-50. The only missions listed from Pither are those attached to his arc.. Alone in the Darque. The problem with trying to obtain the badge through flashback, if you failed it the first try, is none of the missions required to obtain it are linked in an arc and it is necessary to successfully complete all but the 15:00 minute long "Steal Formula from Crey".
It's basically a race against time to determine that you CAN complete all the assigned tasks in the short span of time Pithers allows.. Making you a true Effeciency Expert.
It lists the five missions needed to get Efficiency Expert. The "Steal Formula from Crey" is needed for the badge. There is, in fact, a hidden badge ("Efficiency1" badge which doesn't count towards your badge total and is never displayed) for that mission.
There are 5 hidden "Efficiency#" badges.Quote:You have to do the following 5 missions ONLY, they must be successful, and only the mission holder gets the badge.
- Steal formula from Crey
- Kick Longbow out of base
- Get Info About Malta Group
- Kidnap Diocletian
- Beat some sense into Fortunata Iverson (both parts - untimed and timed.)
Edit:
As soon as TonyV unlocks the wiki to allow edits, I'll be updating the wiki for that badge.

Quote:East side of the main island in Talos, but can be found all around Talos.Re: Archmage accolade
Where's the best place to quickly amass Tsoo Sorc defeats (for the Tracer badge)? I'm pretty familiar with most blueside territories, but a lot has changed/been added since I stopped playing three years ago, so for all I know there may be a place where Tsoo Sorcs hang out in large numbers, the way Warwolves and Vampyri hang out on Striga Isle? -
I don't think anyone reading my posts thinks I ever joke about badges.
The % damage rule for teams has been around since the beginning of badges. It was reduced to 10% from 20% years ago. Leagues are new, and never consider multiple teams in a league as one team. Players had to ask and wait for a long time to get credit for thread drops across the league. I doubt the league system could handle badges like the Banners. -
Quote:Slot smart. Don't slot TOs, sell them. Maybe slot DOs, but probably not. Slot SOs at levels 23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 48 and 50. Sell EVERYTHING you don't need.To be clear, the game does not drop enough Infamy/Influence for characters to buy DOs and SOs. the Devs have stated that the game is designed around SOs. Therefore the designers of Free to Play have effectively set up a situation where the Free players either buy something from them or cannot play the game on a level playing field. Without even considering I/Os in whether it is level. Not even level by SO standards.
If you slot every level and require the character to always have green enhancers, yes, you'll have a problem. Here is the thing though: you don't need to slot that often.Quote:Now, you, and fourteen, or fourteen hundred other people can get on here and give affidavits about the good old days before wood stoves when we used to buy SOs by carrying water from the well 17 miles in heavy snow. I ain't buying it. I have played the game 4 years. If you cannot do any marketing you are going to have a horrrid time after 20 with the SO pricing compared to the Inf drops. Thats a fact, not an opinion.
And people accuse me of hyperbole. You can slot with what drops, or you can avoid a couple cups of coffee and give her account the $5 to allow trades.Quote:The devs should be trying to lure Players over with how much fun the City is, and entice them with a fun playing game. They should get them envious of the Premium and VIPs for the more powerful characters and permissions. They should not be punishing them by forcing them to run unenhanced characters.
I have 2 accounts, I generally use only one. When I checked last I have around 80 characters, but mostly stick to under 10. I don't make a huge amount of inf, and I don't frequent the market. It is possible to ignore what you deem "must-haves".Quote:and PS, I rarely run 50 content over the last 6 months. While ToTing on a big league last week I got a drop of a purp and sold it for 600 mil. If you got less than that on 3 accounts with a hundred and fifty characters than I don't know what to say. Bad Luck? You don't know about A-merits? Not sure if you're serious? -
Quote:Not league... Team. Badge Credit doesn't carry over team boundries.I'm not sure about the first banner, I showed up when it still had a bit of health left. So, I would think that I did 10%, but I can't be sure and we all know what happens when you assume. For the last 3 banners and the aspect I was in a league though, so I would guess that we did the majority of the damage.

Quote:To 5 police band missions in PI, then the safeguard. At that point you can pick Maria as a contact.Yes, thank you for pointing that out! I was able to take the Hydra Dimension mission, enter and then immediately leave the zone, and get the Multidimensional badge. Now it's just a matter of getting at the other 8 Praetorian villains I still haven't taken down yet. Oh Maria Jenkins, please be my friend!
The Incarnate Trial versions of the Praetorians also count toward the Dimensional Warder badge.
Given that I was the one that made that change on the wiki, it is only fair that I answer it. She is an addition. There were 13/16 Praetorian Arch Villains that counted for the Dimensional Warder Badge, now there is 14/16. The two Praetorian AVs that don't count are Shadowhunter and Tyrant.Quote:Speaking of which, paragonwiki says that Mother Mayhem was added as a requirement for Dimensional Warder as of Issue 18. Did she replace someone, or is she in addition to the others? I don't recall how many were on the list back when I played before (prior to Issue 11), but it is 14 now... -
Were you on a team that did 10% of the damage to the banners? Were you on a team that did 10% damage to the Aspect?
If you were solo, did you do 10% of the overall damage to any of the banners? If you were solo, did you do 10% of the overall damage to the aspect? -
Quote:69 Months would be the genuine badge. That would be 30 Reward Tokens, and the 5 year & Tenacious Badges.By my calculations, from november 2005 to August 2011 is 70 months. That would have been the genuine badge according to PW.
If you got a token in October, that would be your 71st month. They might have "lost" September entirely and you might be at 70 for October. So either November or December should give you both a month Paragon Token and a year Paragon Token, depending on if they are counting September or not.Quote:So then I guess it's right on. Thanks for figuring it out for me. I'm still not convinced that I fully comprehend, but, if things are as you explained, then my next grant should be two tokens (one for monthly, and one for seven years, or do I have that wrong too?). I'll contact support and withdraw my petition. They like it when I update them.
Edit:
You should have 4 more tokens (1st purchase, 3,600 Points bought) + 360 points from purchases.
