me too (+1)
'cause we *really* needed another state of the game thread about AE, huh? -
Note that some missions can't be dropped - timed missions and those that award a badge, mainly.
-
The quick answer is - sell the salvage. It has a very good cance of raising the Influence you will need to keep yourself in enhamcements.
It sounds like you are playing a hero, so I will offer this guidance for them.
In AP, close to the plaza with the statue, is Wentworth's Consignment House (marked on your map BTW and also present in Kings Row & Talos Island). Open the interface there and you can see what people have been bidding on various items. You can post your salvage for sale there. It takes a 5% fee for doing so - don't be too greedy and set your prices toohigh or the item will sit there and you willl be out your listing fees.
If you are lucky, some of what you have to sell will be some of the prized salvage other people want buy, like Luck Charms, for example.
Some people are going to come into this thread and tell to just forget about Training Origin enhancments - and to some extent they are correct - TOs offer a relatively small percentage of assistance. but they can be a good system to learn on for now and then expand into the new Inventions Origins enhancements system.
One thing you are noticing in the lower levels is that they buffed starting out Accuracy. If you are reaching level 10, you are noticing that you miss more often because the low-level buff is going away. Missing more often means you have to swing more often, taking up your Endurance as well.
What server areyou on? I can prbably spot you a bit of Influence to get you started, or if it is a server where I don't have any alts - someone else will probably offer some there.
Welcome back! Don't be afraid to come here for questions.
A good basic resource is the Wiki, hosted on the CoHTitan Netwrk (full of other resources as well;

I haven't seen a timeline per se, but Eek's post upthread has a good task list, in order of what to do before moving to something else.
It covers the newer stuff - I am assuming you already know the pre-I7 task list pretty well. -

What about consent from NCsoft? While I don't think there's anything in the EULA expressly forbidding the use of the game servers for research purposes, I would think that if you're using their service and publishing a paper after your findings that there's a reasonable expectation to inform the owners of the servers.
Admittedly, it's possible that he had gotten the go-ahead, since I haven't seen anything about it one way or the other.
Also, how does this paper relate to the member created content portion of the EULA?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not a legal scholar, so am not sure, but I would suspect that the reason no redname has had an opinion on this (other than Castle stating that Fansy > Twixt) is that their legal department has asked them to step back while legal investigates exactly the questions you raised.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed.
The use of their Intellectual Property to conduct research is a legal issue that no one at PCSoft/Paragon Studios will talk about unless/until some sort of formal legal response has been decided (either they take legal action or do not take legal action, after review of the entire situation).
Anyone part of their organization making any sort of statement at this point jeopardizes any potential legal causes of action. I'm sure they have all been told to "zip it" about Twixt other than something as incosequential as Castle's remark.
I don't know that NCSoft was asked if their IP could be used for this, or if they were, that Dr. Myer's request disclosed what his research entailed. I tend to doubt it based on what seems to be sloppy standards of handling the scientific setup of the experiment (Twixt as participant rather than neutral observer, for example).
This whole "paper" and its associated book are both a PR and a legal situation for NCSoft. And you can bet that Legal will not be letting anyone say much beyond "no comment" until their analysis is through. -

I've a feeling at least half the answers in this thread are going to be completely wrong. So unless four or five people list the same set, take it with a grain of salt.

well im going to cry now....psi blasters have been mentioned over and over again. waaaaah.
i just got my psi blaster to lvl 30
siggh. guess ill delete it and remake a new one.
so is it just psi blast the primary thats bad?
or is mental manipulation as a secondary ok?
and now im feeling very depressed about my electric armor brute....
[/ QUOTE ]
Why delete it? Keep it around to see if Psi gets a buff - then you will already have a level 30 ready to go. You have other slots to make a different blaster in.
OTOH, keep playing it. "Underperforming" doesn't mean you can't play it, just that it may seem a bit harder to level than if you were playing a different Blaster primary. Until you read this thread, did you know you were "underperforming"? If not, then you can go on as before.
My current experiment (besides playing around with the change to Doms) is to try to find some iteration of Electric Blast that I can really want to play. It's been challenging, and nothing has gone above about level 14ish so far. I have seen some awesome Electric Blasters in the higher levels, but that could certainly be more player skill than something in the set itself.
Gravity Control is not as good as I would wish. My first Troller is Grav/Rad, and after 4 1/2 years, she still hasn't reached 32. Maybe one of these days. -

@Ad_Astra Keep in mind that the OP (me) included the fact that he had been gone from the game for quite a while.
[/ QUOTE ]
It wasn't a slam against you.
I literally meant that while you were away, they added a bunch of stuff - you missed it because you weren't playing at the time.
I'm hoping you will find it a pleasant surprise. -
What level are the characters planning to use the 'porters? Do you TF a lot or do you mainly progress through the zones as they become level-appropriate?
With 16 beacons, you will have all but 6 of the total placed. Some zones are unlikely to even be used, like Eden. Others have a fairly convenient access point in another zone - for example, the Boomtown gate is pretty close to the drop point of the Steel Canyon beacon. Those would be 2 I would skip, along with the Pocket D beacon (at least while the art is still broken on it, espcially if folks have the G vs E Pocket D 'porter).
As far as the other three, it would depend on the level of most of the SG. -
Hmm, looks like OP has missed a lot of good stuff for the under level 30 crowd.
Good reminders to all of us complaining about how nothing new has been added for lowbie characters.
EDIT to Add: Of course, some new stuff for ultra-lowbie characters under level 10 would be much appreciated! -
There is no SG storage for recipes.
Craft them and store the enhancements or store the recipes on characters. -

Anyone going to sue this dummy? Seems he did a few naughty things besides not getting consent and breaking the EULA.

Cant believe he is a teacher. The man isn't to bright.

Grounds for a civil suit would be problematic.
You would need to show that there was damage of some sort due to his actions. The only damage that would seem likely here is some sort of emotional or reputational damage.
Reputational damage (generally interpreted as causing damage to your ability to be gainfully employed in your chosen profession) is extremely remote here (other than the reputational damage Dr, Myers may have done to himself by shoddy research methods).
Emotional damage is a popular basis for lawsuits these days, but given that all the people affected were participating in PvP, and by some interpretations of the PvP conventions Twixt's behavior was not outside what happens in a PvP zone, it would be harder to prove actual damages. (Disclaimer - I don't PvP, so I'm relying on descriptions of PvP behaviors in this thread and others provided by PvP'ers.)
I don't want to get off track here, but sometimes folks are too quick to turn to litigation in situations where it isn't the appropriate response.
NCSoft could probably seek some sort of legal action due to misuse of its Intellectual Property, but we certainly won't hear about that unless a suit is actually brought. I'm sure their Legal Department has been looking at the situation to see if litigation might be appropriate - assuming, of course, that Twixt did not have their prior permission to conduct his "research" in their game.
For any of the individuals involved to bring suit would be unlikely to succeed. -

The caveat is that when you get into the higher levels, your pregression can slow a lot if you haven't learned to use the mitigating secondary effects of your attacks effectively. If you continue to approach every spawn "guns a-blazing", you will faceplant often in the upper levels.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait. You are saying that there are ways to play that don't involve rushing in and aggroing everything?
BLASPHEMY!!!

He's a blaster. He just doesn't understand the scrapper/brute way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, as an altoholic, I do understand the scrapper/brute way. In the right mood, it's a ton of fun.
BTW "she" is the one who is a Blaster at Heart, but still altoholic. -
I sent you Paragon Arcanum last night, EnnVee.

OK, I'm going to put in a vote for my favorite AT - the Blaster!
As someone with experience as a damage dealer in WoW, you probably already have experience in determining just where the aggro range is for your foes and how to "lose" it - both of these are the hardest things for baby blasters to learn, so you are ahead of the learning curve.
Blasters are perhaps a bit over-represented in the lower levels, because they start out fast. In the low levels, you have essentially twice the attacks as any other AT - because even your mitigation tools are actually your attack's secondary effects. So the foes go down quickly at level 5-15 or so, compared to your team mates.
The caveat is that when you get into the higher levels, your pregression can slow a lot if you haven't learned to use the mitigating secondary effects of your attacks effectively. If you continue to approach every spawn "guns a-blazing", you will faceplant often in the upper levels. If you learn to slow with Ice effects or KnockBack with Energy, for example, and learn to choose which single foe in a spawn to take out first - you will be fine.
To me, Blasters are a lot more fun because you can't steamroll over stuff in the upper levels, but you can still cause mass carnage with proper team support.
But as an altoholic with 60+ alts, not even close to half Blasters (an amateur compared to some around here) I can also tell you that whatever you choose can be a lot of fun either teamed or solo.
Welcome! See you in-game! -
Thanks for taking point on this, iltat.
What I have seen so far of your response is exactly what I would want to see from this community - a well-worded counterpoint to "Twixt's" observations from someone involved in the activity in question. -

I like PUG stories. My favorite are the AE baby stories. I find humor is the idiocy of others, and since I'm an idiot...I laugh ALOT.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually you just reminded me of the furor that used to develop each time Part_Troll would post one of his PUG threads back in his heyday. There were people who hated that he was sullying their forums with his frivolous posts so much that they would make sure to post their disapproval and lack of interest in every one of his threads. Sometimes even posting more than those claiming to love his stories, all the while oblivious to the irony.
[/ QUOTE ]
I love Part_Troll stories.
Always amusingly written, even when he's way over judgemental or even flat-out wrong. They still can make me smile.
Usually, PK's (to bring this part-way back to OP) posts have a similar amusement value, but Part_Troll's are an acquired taste, I guess. -

Why is this still going on? 40 pages, and I still don't see why it's such a popular topic. I don't get why everybody is torturing themselves over this.
I've seen the same points expressed over and over again by multiple people. It's growing depressing that so much attention is being paid to something so irrelevant, both to the game and to the world at large.
Just like an inflatable Troll balloon, the more attention we pay to this, the bigger it's going to get, but that doesn't mean it has anymore real substance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because this is the internet and you are taking part in my social experiment. My hypothesis is that as a thread increases in size the chance of somebody mentioning Hitler approaches 1.
So far my data is very interesting and I plan on writing a book about my experience.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oops, sorry, you just borked your experiment by creating the desired outcome yourself (mentioning Hitler) - much like Twixt did by his behaviors in his "experiment" by being a participant and the precipitate instigator rather than a neutral observer.
But, hey, go ahead anf write your paper so we can discuss it further! -

Ooh, I'll come! That is, if there's room, I don't want to take up anyone else's slot, but I've done this before, and I might be able to help out. But like I said, if someone else wants to go in my place, that's fine, but if you need the extra Taxi, I'll try to help out as much as I can! Either team is fine, just whoever needs a Belle tagging along!
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, Belle - I'm usually up for these and can't make it this week - family reunions (yes, that's plural!).
Not that I have a "regular" place since the team rotates a bit....
I hope to see everyone next week! Are we still going to be doing anything with all the Rikti 'porting in? -

As a player, it doesn't sound like Twixt did anything wrong.
As a professor, the guy sounds completely incompetent.
[/ QUOTE ]
Since I wasn't there, and I have no PvP skills (nor do I want to gain them) I can't comment on that very well.
But his "research" does seem to have some ethical and procedural deficits that cast doubt an any validity to them at all.
O_I is concentrating on whether Twixt as a player in a PvP environment violated any "rules", ignoring the other issue of any scholarly value or lack thereof to his paper and forthcoming book.
Twixt can certainly be a jerk within the strict rules of PvP and still be a hack researcher/scholar. -
Oh - PK, glad to see your old avvy back! Obviously it was futile to try to escape the "old you".
-
But I'm picking up tips & pointers about how to pad - thanks!
