  1. I feel the same way the OP does to an extent. PuGing has been slower for me and I find myself playing ATs that are better suited to soloing.

I liked the concept of AE and supported the idea. I don't like the resulting change in how my playstyle has changed.

Oh well, if my feelings don't change (because the game is not going to regarding this) I'll have other super hero MMo options in the future.

    My best, I think, are:

Festival, founder and Ring Mistress Prima of the Carnival of Light
The Perilous Poppet, a medieval-era witch's manikin come to hideous life
    Cassandra Fortune, a Fortunata
...and I always liked my namesake, Dollhouse (a Tanker, of course), at least until the TV show came out. =(

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have the name Festival on Freedom with a similar background (great minds I guess).

And although I get a lot of compliments for Unstoppable for my tank, I still like my namesake USAvenger.
  3. Was thinking about making a earth/thermal but now your post inspired me to try a Ice/Thermal.
  4. I know that sounds like a line from a beer commercial, but what are your thoughts if the days were shorter in the COX world and the nights were longer?

Perhaps it is my liking Batman over Superman that this idea comes to mind, but patrolling the night has greater appeal to me than wearing tights in the daylight. Perhaps if the nights were twice as long as the days that might fix it for me.

Am I the only one who likes crimefighting at night?

    Beautiful argument.

Unfortunately, since your suggestion is in regards to farming within the MA, it belongs in the official farming in the MA thread, just like all the other farming in the MA threads. Thus, while you've explained why it's in this forum, it's actually disregarding the specific requests of the moderators of this forum, which is against Rule 13. To rectify this situation, all you need to do is contact the moderators and let them know you would like this thread deleted. Once deleted, you can repost your suggestion in the appropriate thread.

    Have a nice day.

Having had Mod8 visit this thread twice, it would appear he disagrees with your conclusions.

    Have a nice day.

As to "posting in the right forum," why isn't "What is your drink?" or "what happened to Malta? posts not in the question forums? The answer is obvious, traffic. If you want more eyes on your thread, you go to where the eyes are. The descritption of what each Forum covers is flexible enough to allow a poster to decide where they want to present their ideas. This coupled with the fact that one cannot double post, leaves the clear choice to write in the more populated forum.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then you should have posted in Forum Games.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because the forum topic describes Forum Games as "This is the place to play forum games like AASQ or Avatar Wars!" I didn't see how that fit. Additionally, I still think this forum is visited by more people than the Forum Games.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Also, you get what you give. A presumptive, bait and switch style post will definitely garner a negative response. If only you'd done the right thing and separated your opinion about farming and your 'idea', posted it in the form OF an idea instead of a "news report", and put it in the right forum.

It was nicely written. That's why you're getting others angry at your idea, since normally such 'thoughts' are coupled with leetspeak and atrocious spelling and grammar. An elite troll, but a troll none the less.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I understand what you are saying but disagree that posting an idea in a provocative manner equals trolling.

. . . that he would blatantly misrepresent his case by trying to make others think that his message was one made by the development team even though he never said he was with the development team and he did state it was his idea. It's just, you know, easier to project your own feelings of frustrations on others than to admit and take responsibility that I jumped to conclusions because I didn't consider the post as a whole but judged it without full evaluation of what was said.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Fixed it for you
  9. [ QUOTE ]

At least it was presented as such. You know, you should really post suggestions and ideas in the suggestions and ideas section of this forum to avoid confusion like this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are not the first to throw out the "this should be in the 'Suggestion' forums." Yet when I look at all the questions posted in this forum and the same people who told me where to post but have not told others that their posts should be in the "Question" forums, that kind of weakens their overall credibility on the issue.
Or as the kids say these days, " Selective enforcement FTL."

So what do you think of my announcement?

    [/ QUOTE ]
That it is a poorly contrived, yet textbook example of trolling.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What is the difference to you of trolling in comparison to making a suggestion.

There have been attacks on how the idea was presented but barely any discussion on the merits of the suggestion itself.

Is this idea in and of itself considered trolling to you? You cannot see ANY merits to what is being suggested?

It seems that more people are concerned about the presentation than the content. I announced an idea, told everyone it was my idea, and put my idea in quotes. Period.

If you wanted to "announce an idea," it might have behooved you to start with, "What would everyone think if we saw this on the forums tomorrow?" rather than posting it with a title designed to draw attention and make people angry before they had a chance to know that it WAS an idea.

This thread deserves to be locked. The original post is worded in a deliberately provocative manner, to "stir the pot" as some have said. No useful discussion will come of this.

I admire Mod8's attempts to salvage it but it's really not worth it.

  19. In game turns, AWESOME!

I have two scrappers (lvl 47 spines/SR and lvl 42 claws/SR) that rule whenever I team. I jump into mobs tanks fear to tread, I am the pace setter, and I take notice whenever I dip below %50 health because it rarely happens. Neither has self heal and I rely on greens if I ever do get hit.

I am now trying to soft cap my shield brute, my EA brute and a ninja stalker.

    Good luck.
  20. In short, it comes down to risk versus reward.

    [ QUOTE ]

From the inception of this game, the concepts of “balance” and “risk versus reward” have been a tightrope the developers have had to walk in order to make the game fun and rewarding. Add to the mix that this is a game about super heroics, and the task of having a player feel “super” (yet still feel challenged) becomes increasingly difficult.

For years, whenever a new issue was created, of vital importance to the development team was that the new content would not unbalance the game, favor a particular play-style, or create exploits that would tamper with the rule of appropriate risk versus reward. Because the content in the previous issues was created by developers, control of what was produced was pretty absolute.

With the creation of MA, much of the power to create content has been turned over to the players. While it was hoped that this would allow players to create missions inspired by players that kept to the spirit of City of Heroes that they could share with the community, it would appear that the majority of the player-base that uses this feature has done so for purposes other than what it was intended to be used for. Namely, the idea of risk versus reward has been circumvented with the creation of “farm” missions.

Perhaps it was naïve for the developers to think that their many requests by them to not create such missions would be listened to. Unfortunately, given the current state of affairs regarding MA and the time and effort it would take to keep up with those that would counter each effort the developers would use to prevent MA from being exploited, the solution for reduction of xp in the MA arcs seems to be the easiest solution to the problem.

With a reduction of xp given in an MA arc, a disincentive to “farm” these arcs would be created, yet persons still wanting to create or play player-generated content could still do so easily. This solution will not please everyone, but will allow the staff to return to other projects that will enrich the game for a long time to come.

  21. I did a post last year in the MM forums entitled "Do YOU invite MM's when you have the star?" To my surprise a great many of the MM comrades do NOT invite other MM's because like people who play stormies, people are more afraid of the bad players that the difficulties they can cause as oppose to the aid they can render.

He's been six years on the same dosage , but since the beginning of the school year he just can't seem to keep out of trouble: talking in class, disrupting the class, play pushing in the hallway, etc. Silly stuff really, but it's been landing him in detention A LOT. So, his doctor reviewed his medication and decided it was time to up the dose a little.

This reminds me of that South Park episode where the kids were behaving badly so they were put on redelin (sp?) until it was realised they were just being kids then they were put on redel-out.

Which in turn reminds me of that Star Trek Next Generation pilot where Q shows the future where solders are kept in control by being drugged up.

Funny, the drug in COX gives you super energies whereas the drug here takes it away.
  24. As stated before, rudeness appears when the person asking doesn't reveal anything about themselves forcing the leader to ask questions they should not have to.

I find the simple inquiry of "Does your team have room for a lvl 23 scrapper?" to be very successful.

When I do get blind tells for request to join, I am usually discouraged to see that they are from people -3 or more from me. I have never gotten a tell from someone above me and rarely from someone my own level. I think some of the hostilty from the blind tell debate stems from people 'phat xp' from a higher lvl team.
