This thread really doesn't need to be stickied any more. Anyone know who I could contact about that?

Quote:You could have looked up the actual power and not made a stupid, blanket statement yourself, and avoided looking like a twit. I mean, it would have taken you less effort and people like me wouldn't have read it, rolled our eyes and gone 'Oh, hey, look, EvilRyu doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.'[ QUOTE ]

What about ice, and plant then?
[/ QUOTE ]Opponents falling down on their [censored] taking damage in an area, or opponents confused, taking damage in an area. HOW UNSYNNERGISTIC.
The set is a close-range melee-focused set with a damage aura that keeps people close to you. You're the one with the insane idea that this somehow doesn't mesh with any dominator playstyle, when it's exactly the playstyle I've always had with my doms.
You're the one who claims that this 'simply' doesn't benefit doms 'at all.' I'd like to see your evidence that a mag 2 immob that doesn't prevent KD or KB is somehow unsynergystic.
[/ QUOTE ]So you are saying mud pots doesnt have the resistance to knockback like the other immobilize powers do? Ok then that is different. See how easy it is to explain that, you could have just said this in the begining instead of being a smart [censored].
Again, just to underscore for everyone: Mud pots is a large damage aura with a mag 2 immobilize component in an assault set which is primarily melee. -
Quote:They do care. They care a surprising amount. That's why they haven't gone through the archetype like a divine wind and fixed up all those things the defender can do that trivialises their precious content.[ QUOTE ]
C) Defenders inherent is extremely bad and needs looking at again by the Devs. It has zero affect when solo. It has zero effect for some powersets such as a forcefield defender who keeps everyone at 100% heath. It is completely reliant upon your teammates and their (in)ability.
[/ QUOTE ]
One of the few things I have always been displeased about is how the devs treat the defender AT. In many ways it always seemed like the AT was a last second addition. I know the inherent was made up without much thought.
In my best Kanye West impersonation "The devs don't care about defender people" -
Anything that earns you significant money is filed in Heraclea's mind under the idea of abusive or immoral practice. It's a very simple tidbit of circular logic - whatever earns you large sums of money must be abusive, therefore, only people who abuse the system earn large sums of money, therefore there is a moral imperative to make things easier for people who aren't abusing the system.

So what we have in essence is a honour system predicated on the idea that people who have money and use it are immoral, and you need special systems in place to justify your behaviour?
-
[ QUOTE ]
Again how is this supposed to help a mind controller?
[/ QUOTE ]Congratulations. A type of dom that does not benefit brilliantly from a power. Clearly, the set does not suit doms at all.
Pfft. -
[ QUOTE ]
Correct me if I am wrong but isnt mud pots a damage aura like hot feet that has an immobilize built in?
[/ QUOTE ]The immobilize is mag 2. That is to say, minions and underlings.
A damage aura is also really good for those people who are prone to doing something weird, like controlling people and then engaging them in melee. Like this whole set is designed to do. -

One reason MMO's aren't literature and shouldn't really be looked at in exactly the same terms is because there can literally never be character growth, resolution, or any great meaning applied.
Given that an MMO adventure can (and likely does) have many more characters than the player,
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but if any character other than the player is getting development, then that player is a filthy Mary Sue and must be purged for the good of all entertainment everywhere.
[/ QUOTE ]There's a point on the spectrum between 'Venture is wrong' and 'Venture is a cartoony villain who holds unreasonable and ridiculous opinions,' you know. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sooooo... How common is this for others here and how do you handle it?
[/ QUOTE ]I avoid bad RPers.
So I solo a lot. -
Not like Earth needs it.
One of my problems with powerboost is there just aren't that many effects that feel cool when they get it. Forcefields plus powerboost? That's cool to me. Controls plus powerboost feel very meh for aforestated reasons.
Anyway, earth assault looks to be based on even damage output. That's nice. -

How helpful and positive!
Someone should inform Eco he's breaking the rules.

no, that's not the idea. that would be true about street mobs (but there isn't any real street cleaning done any more)
[/ QUOTE ]Right, so people like me don't count.

Umbral,
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. You (and many others) cannot see my point.

OP, despite what your title erroneously (or dishonestly) implies, "positive threads" are indeed allowed. They simply aren't entitled to be free of dissenting opinion. Nor should they be.
Negative =/= non-constructive
[/ QUOTE ]
No, but needlessly sarcastic, rude, insulting vitriol (such as, for example "I wish it could be erased from the database") is.
Eco.
[/ QUOTE ]Just as a tidbit, Eco, it's against the forum rules to call someone a troll. If someone is trolling, it's your responsibility as a member of the forums to bring it to a moderator's attention. To slander a person as a troll both taints the well for those people who are reading their posts and promoting the thread that the moderators will then have to prune back to remove TOS violations. It's having your cake and eating it too, claiming a superiority which you do not have to enforce or earn.
I would appreciate it if you went out of your way to be a more responsible and respectful member of this community. If the moderators do not deal with the troll as they deal with trolls, then it is your criteria, not the troll that is wrong.
Either way 'troll' is a personal attack and you should know better. -
[ QUOTE ]
Personally, I'm disgusted by the behavior of a select few who feel that their negative and non-constructive thoughts need to be heard on any thread on this sub-forum.
[/ QUOTE ]Really? -
I did?!
Holy heck, now I'm worried, since I honestly don't know what I caught. >.> -

Not to side one way or the other, but that "observation" is only an observation so long as it is accurate, after that point, it truly is an insult. And, obviously, Biospark does not believe that it is an observation. Therefore...
[/ QUOTE ]I can understand that, and since Biospark is not going to pay attention to the evidence or the existing culture of the game, he's not about to regard said observation as fair even if it is. Not a lot I can do for that, but hey - I'm trying here. -
[ QUOTE ]
I want to keep this friendly, but as expected, someone ALWAYS has to start the poking jibes.
[/ QUOTE ]It's a jibe to let you know that your opinion is empty? I'm telling you why you're not making headway, why nobody is taking you seriously - because you're working from a foregone and erronous postulate.
[ QUOTE ]
You dont know me, or my gaming experience, so dont insult me if you are able to prove a valid point.
[/ QUOTE ]'You're stupid' is an insult. 'You don't know what you're talking about' is an observation. And you don't know what you're talking about. -
Arc 232308 - Sky King's Ransom
Level Range: 21-24
I could do this review in two words, but I won't. I could run you blow-by-blow through the arc, but it's short enough that I wouldn't get to link all my favourite tvtropes pages along the way. I could try to muster up some enthusiasm to make this review entertaining, but by and large, I don't actually have what it takes to do that. So let's try and be simple here:
This arc is two missions long, it's solo-friendly, and it explores an intersection between two bits of canon lore, expanding on a bug that was introduced along with the newspaper/police band system. It has a number of good snippets of dialogue, minimal NPC interaction, significant observation, and uses its maps and its emotes well. This arc is distributed from an established contact who offers material like this in his already extant arcs. The enemy group in question is a particularly renowned one who yes, by the name, are not exactly a secret.
Rating: ****
...
What, yes. Seriously.
I have put up with so many 'clever' stories of late that I think I'm going to punch the next author who acts like a twist ending makes a work mandatory play in the eye. This arc is good. It's something that an actual superhero would do. It could be the dawn of a nemesis' existence, it could be the lead-in in an actual character's story to dealing with another enemy group. It has its minor holes and patches, and yes, it is a little short, and on my lowbie mind/elec dominator I found it frustrating to deal with the [censored]-kickings I got from gangs of sky raiders with swords and sticks.
But so!?
There's this damnable problem right now plaguing the AE that people seem to think there's a spectrum where an arc needs a thousand literary references or it's 'not good enough' according to the arc intellgentsia (and they therefore use this as an excuse to not try to write wel) or that the arc that bothers to pay attention to things like what the arc would mean to the character is somehow 'caring too much' and not focusing on the important thing of 'is it fun.'
Well, I have fun thinking, and this arc didn't make me stop thinking or stop having fun. It has its bugs in its dialogue and the like, but the arc is solid and good with a responsible author who doesn't at any point try to pull some remarkable special comment out of his [censored] like that justifies the entire existence of the arc.
So let's see how those two words work, now: Run it

I am not sure why you think it makes my point moot though.
[/ QUOTE ]Because it's one of the many ways in which you indicate you have no idea what you're talking about.
For there to be a spectrum of team-agnostic options (scrappers), there should in turn be a related alternative, heavily team-reliant options. Someone has to be the worst at soloing - and since they can still solo at all, your mantra that they 'should' solo faster is built on an entirely emotive non-argument. You demand an imperative and don't justify it. -
[ QUOTE ]
From the comic con video it looks like we are getting mud pots. This simply doesnt fit us. I hope its just a mix up.
[/ QUOTE ]Ryu, you continue your trend of using the word 'simply' to wallpaper over the fact that your idea is utterly indefensible. -
The 6th slot in both dwarf forms is 3 points of mez protection.
