Why not just enjoy the character from the start? You can have more than one, so... I've had to remake certain ones but I've done them on different servers so I actually have the "single katana" versus "dual blades" versions, that kinda thing.

Can we nominate Zekiran for most awesome person of the month?
I vote yes.
[/ QUOTE ]
hehehehehe -
yeah that was pretty darn cool. I haven't seen too many SS folks running around, but I do expect a LOT more of these differently-animated ones after they come out.
At least I'll be able to retint / change my original character now, since he's a spines scrapper.
Who's been level 8 since I started playing the game... He really shouldn't have all those hideous spines coming OUT of him like that. Just four nice shards (hence his name Shard) on his forearms. But... there's very little chance they'll redo ALL the spines to not include those explody things. But now they can be a boney-blue color like they're supposed to be. -
Yes, that'd be awesome too. I would love to have snowy flakey stuff, not just vaporous. It's a little overbearing. Hoarfrost is pretty.

Looking for a new career path Zek?
Try Voice Acting
I'd pay to listen to you

I'm actually very flattered by that
New videos up in my thread about this, Superstrength, Martial Arts and Earth assault as requested. yes, there are some alternates on SS and MA! (and yes, I narrate those! hehehe)
The "Guest Author" thing is this: they were shopping around at the con for published authors (of comics and whatever) to think about doing guest spots in the MA for them. It looks like a neat thing for "real authors" - a little gimmicky but hey. If Neil Gaiman ever wrote a story for COH you know we'd all play it. -
Okay so I took 3 more videos of the power sets! Again they're wmv, sorry if that is unplayable - if someone else has a way of converting it to something else, please do but give me credit I have a youtube account but I have never actually uploaded anything to it.
Martial Arts - probably my favorite among the batch of new stuff because there are a lot of new options.
Superstrength!
Earth Assault!
Enjoy!
Unfortunately I think the last 4 days really took their toll on a lot of the folks at the booth - I only saw Nakayama and the Babes, and maybe 1 dev there today. It was obviously exhausting for them but hey - it was busy and AWESOME. -

How much was your total Comic Con package? I am thinking of taking an extra paycheck ($800.00) and going down next summer...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if you buy your tickets NOW or close to now for next year they should be around 65$-70$. However, I didn't buy mine for next year because I'm utterly out of money at this time, so I do not know whether the price has increased.
That is for 5 days (4 full days and preview night to pick up the passes and hit the floor for a couple hours - an increasingly popular sport among attendees, since last year I saw pretty much half the population of the con in line).
Hotels obviously have a wide variety of prices, but I don't know how they handle convention lockouts if you're booking too far in advance. There are a boatload of good hotels pretty much everywhere around town and if you ask about transportation there are plenty of ways to get TO the con, if you're not right near it.
Estimate an average of 80$ at least a night, unless you find someone to go in with you, or have a place to stay otherwise.
Then... spend money. Given hotel and transportation, and entrance, you'll still be looking at 3-500$ to spend spend spend. There is so much to spend on... so... much...

ZI, do you know if those new accounts aren't from people buying a second account?
[/ QUOTE ]
Concurrent numbers was what Ocho seemed to indicate. Doesn't make any difference whether they're multiple accounts on one player, since the money is the same. However, I got the distinct impression from not only him but others, as well as just being IN the game and on the forums, that it is in fact a whole slew of actually new customers. Plus a LOT of returning people who were here at the start, and came back now for the goodies.
[ QUOTE ]
I have noticed that those numbers can be skewed by people purchasing separate licenses and I was just curious if the spike in the population growth was not extreme case of altaholism?
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, makes no difference, but it seems like it's not just that.
[ QUOTE ]
Also do you know if the devs mentioned how much of their current revenue came from the packs and other in game materials?
[/ QUOTE ]
That I didn't ask about - it's a good question. Packs come and go, though - but we definitely were told without a doubt last year, that the Wedding pack pretty much pushed out the new VEATS earlier than they could have done, so I can't really make any calls about that. Good question. You should ask a redname about that, but don't expect "real numbers".
[ QUOTE ]
One last questions, what about the Mac edition? how much of the increase in revenue came from Mac users? did that have anything to do with the revenue spike?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think those are definitely things they won't be telling anyone other than their shareholders, really. But I can't truly imagine THAT many new accounts from the Mac edition "because it's for the Mac", because tons and tons of us bought it "for the valkyrie stuff" -
.... Except it's not a myth in freedom's case. It's a plain and simple truth that it is so high-volume during event times (and even during non-event times too) that it's far easier to get on a different server without such problems during that event.
Outside those events? Still fun everywhere. We're all playing the same game. And like I said earlier in the thread: the numbers for all the servers outside the "top three" are essentially equal according to Ocho. There is no such thing as a ghost town.
Only people who steadfastly refuse to learn how to group in the game if that's what they want to do. -
[ QUOTE ]
Thanks. Is there also a way to access non-enemy NPCs, like people running in terror?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, sadly there isn't.
You probably will want to check out the full tutorials in the game. That and I think there are a few down in the section for MA stuff. -
Dual Pistols will be available in GR but only for certain sets and we've still been told (though I don't know whether it's true) that they'll "never" be available for heroes. Now... not sure. I thought there was a redname post somewhere about that.
And yeah, as for powerset respecs? Not seeing it happening ever. -
Twitter is useless when the devs are so busy for 5 days solid (and I mean solid, as in "the entire time they're out on the floor") and can't spare a couple minutes to update.
And yes, I'm serious - they WERE that busy. -
I give mine out during Halloween. For a long time when I was working at a gas station and had time to just sit and browse the forums (or... play the game) on my laptop, people would see it and ask what it was, so I'd dig into my backpack and hand them a copy to try out
-
I hope you've all got petitions and bug reports ready in the game.
-
Yeah. They have been very pleased with how things are going. The booth was packed, there were plenty of people who had either never seen COH or had wondered about it, passing by and lots of us in the halls with the AWESOME buttons blinking, so when people asked about it, there was another chance to spread the word.
They had stacks of the Bootleg edition - a 14 day trial with the original disk (lol) - at the booth for people to try out, and both live server demos and the I16 demo screens to see the game itself. And, the huge lovely screens connected to the live game, watching people, and you'd get people just standing there going !! that's cool!
At the same time too - there are people (in the game here, and... in the dev team...) that are on CO beta and still unimpressed enough to just laugh it off. COH is going strong, and getting even stronger even in the face of the imagined adversity of the competition. -
The colors on the "custom" pallette were all earth toned. That is to say, there were no "bright" blues or reds, bright yellows or whatnot - they were muted, mostly brown, grey, green, dirt-colors.

Actually I want to say that while Clayton didn't allow himself to say so directly, the implication was when I was speaking to him after the panel, that they WERE going to be doing things to the older parts of the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
MA tools are tailor made for quick makeovers of the kinds of cookie-cutter "story arcs" we see at the lower levels.
Turn a couple of people loose on it and see what they come up with. It's a no lose proposition.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it's like they said, "we're using the Mission Architect like the Last Starfighter game..." -
Soon is actually soon this time, just like the forum migration.
>_> I'm scared. They're starting to do things on a quicker timetable than ever... -
Actually I want to say that while Clayton didn't allow himself to say so directly, the implication was when I was speaking to him after the panel, that they WERE going to be doing things to the older parts of the game. That may not be anytime soon and probably not for GR, but they know that our tired experiences are kind of getting old for us. Not necessarily on the table yet but certainly something they do understand. However, at this point it's easier for them to design whole new things (GR, new mastermind sets) to accomodate some of those ideas, than rework older stuff.
They have so many people working on the game now, and funding that is appropriate to a highly respected and time-tested game, that they CAN start working on these things. They do take time, but they're things that they know from not just customer reports but personal experience need some loving. -

My only worry about Going Rogue is that NcSoft has unrealistic expectations about what it will do for sub. numbers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then let me quell this right now: Ocho told me (no real numbers) that already the subscription and active player rate is way beyond what they even expected with I15+. The subscriber rates are up. UP. Like, UP. *eyebrow waggle and wide-eyes* UP.
For Clarification: We are happy with the way things are going. That is all the detail I will provide -Mod08 -

I can't believe that no one even commented on the other two videos.... isn't that a big deal to people?
[/ QUOTE ]
I posted them in another thread. They're up for a reason, everyone who's at the booth can use those terminals and see the results. I'm going back for Earth Assault (which I guess I mistook for armor, durr), and I guess the MA since I forgot they had new animations on those too.
I don't think there's anything on ANY of my directories that I don't want people to see. I'm not one of those people who posts illegal crap or very embarrassing things on the net. If I didn't want people to see it... I woulnd't post it -
It will tell you expressly "multiple simultaneous" objects. Otherwise I always ignore the "you should have a team mate because it's tough" because the only reason it'd BE tough is if you pad your team and get higher numbers of enemies.
-
The numbers aren't available, but per Ocho anything past Virtue and Freedom (and Infinity on good days since it seems to be the 3rd highest now) all the servers are looking extremely similar and much higher than you'd really think.
Pick one you like to play on, join global channels to chat with folks, and a supergroup with people you want to team with. Those are the important things, not which one has the highest volume of people - because with high volume comes high numbers of idiots. -
-
No, they said it and then were asking each other whether it should have been said. Honestly it did seem like something a leeetle much for right now, so I'm gonna wait and see what the rednames say about it later. Mostly, I don't wanna get banned for sharing when I know it was supposed to be off limits.
Videos are being uploaded right now, to my site.
