Apologies for not responding to this thread earlier. I've been following it most of the weekend, however typing up a response on my phone from the booth was both problematic (due to intermittent wifi connectivity) and unwieldy.
To address some things (including reiteration on that which Positron stated above):
- The Signature Story Arc rewards are not intended to be the solo Incarnate Path. The rewards are there to add even more value (on top of amazing story, unique maps, basically a ton of cool stuff) to SSA's. These missions are repeatable, fun, and a great reason to be a VIP Subscriber.
- We've been gathering your feedback about the Barbarian armor set and will of course pass it along to the art team.
- I completely understand wanting "more" at PAX. The reality is that we had planned to announce "more", including an actual date for headstart. As often occurs in game development, "things happened" and we were not able to announce. It's far better to refrain from committing to a date and avoid having to publicly push it out, especially when there's a lot of moving parts involved. As Posi said at the panel though, the VIP Headstart is coming soon.
Very Soon. -
The question that should be asked is:
Do you need to host a server?
If the answer is no, then Teamspeak, Mumble or Ventrilo will fit the bill for you.
If the answer is yes, you can still use those options, provided that you can host yourself.
If the answer is yes, and you don't know the first thing about hosting a server, then yes, you'll need to pay. The great thing is that there are Ventrilo hosting solutions out there that are pretty affordable (ranging anywhere from $2.00/month up to hundreds of dollars per month, depending on the size of server you need.)
I've used Darkstar Communications for work purposes in the past, however I hear alot of people like Typefrag.
As far as "Free" goes...well Skype is about as free as you can get, and they do all of their own hosting. You're just limited with how many can chat at once *and* you have to put up with random invites from phishers.
There's plenty of other solutions out there (just google "Free VOIP Comms" or "Free VOIP solutions") however I can't speak to their fidelity or legitimacy.
Best of luck! -
6th floor...All I remember about riding the elevator with people from other floors was the odd looks we would get as we talked about nerdly things and coming to work looking like some of us just rolled out of bed.

Looks like noone was hurt, and thankfully that doesn't appear to be the norm. -
Quote:Yes, but what did the person who built it have for lunch? The product Antec is selling is the case. (Probably including the power supply, as that's frequently included and Antec is a reputable manufacturer of power supplies as well as cases.) The contest, though, is for a gaming PC, presumably with all of the components installed, using the aforementioned case.
The contest PC is pitched as "a complete NCsoft-themed Gaming PC with hardware from Antec, Intel®, Zotac®, Kingston® and Seagate®." Knowing those respective manufacturers, it's likely an Antec case and power supply, an Intel CPU and motherboard, a Zotac cooling system, Kingston memory, and Seagate hard drives. -
Quote:I'm hearing from folks near Charlottesville that plaster was falling from ceilings and that in one case a roof collapsed on a dilapidated building, but that's about it.Well, I imagine a decent chunk of damage was done, but for what it's worth here in Charlottesville (which is about as far away from the epicenter as Richmond) there doesn't appear to be much damage done. Of course it's too early to say that with any certainty, but the microburst that hit us the other weekend did more damage to my neighborhood than the quake did.

The part to be worried about is this:
Here in CA, everything is built to withstand Earthquakes...in VA, not so much. Even a "relatively low magnitude" 5.9 will probably end up doing millions of dollars worth of damage. -
-
-
There's a few folks here in the office from back in VA. Hearing that folks around/near the epicenter are fine...a little shaken, but fine.
-
First reports of the devastation hitting the Eastern Seaboard are just now coming in...
My heart goes out to those affected.
(Hey, living in the Bay Area gives us a little leeway to be smug about Earthquakes ) -
My Twitter feed lit up like the Fourth of July the moment it happened...I saw reports from as far south as North Carolina all the way up into Southern Michigan.
My former Coworkers back in Fairfax, VA claim to have had a wild ride...I can only imagine as some of our offices were on the 8th floor! -

We didn't receive any public facing notes for this particular publish.
I'll double check, but usually if that's the case it was optimization improvements (which I can confirm was part of today's build...ITF and BAF should be *much* improved at this point), back-end changes that don't have an immediate player facing impact and updating the WST.
Thanks!

Morning everyone!
Taking a break from PAX planning and getting ready for Issue 21 to share this little bit of awesome I came across this morning.
Hope it brightens your day!
(No, it's not a Rick Roll.) -
GM's work in Austin. You're probably referring to the QA guys like TheNet popping in from time to time.

Quote:Most likely no, although I haven't seen the final notes on the Mac Client build. Will this also address the frequent assertion failures NOT associated with the store, as well as the memory leak?
As an update: We're still testing the Mac update internally. We ran into a few issues and as a result had to go back to Transgaming. We may put up a functional "rough" build some time this week, however it will not be the final build, and would most likely require a full install rather than just updating.
Apologies for the delay in updating today; I'm up to my eyes in PAX planning. -
Was he wearing an Admiral Ackbar t-shirt when he made the arrest?
Thumbs Up. -
Update: We've worked out a fix for the store issue with Transgaming and we're now testing it internally. Once it finishes testing we'll be building it into a new client. No ETA, but there is forward movement.

Issue 21 will not go live with this issue in place. The reason this was not addressed in closed beta is due to the need to coordinate such fixes with Transgaming.
There's a lot of moving parts with Issue 21 and Freedom, and a lot of things that need to be tested. Unfortunately, the timing on the known issues with the Paragon Market being addressed didn't line up with our need to start concurrency testing.
We are working with Transgaming to address this issue ASAP and will let you know the minute that it's corrected.
Thank you for being patient.
