Zombie, man, how hard is it to come to the conclusion that after three years of getting nothing new, that we might want some actual attention?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would think that giving Tanks and Scrappers the things they should have had from the beginning, and the new things that were added later (but given to just Brutes and Stalkers) would be considered actual attention.

    [ QUOTE ]
Just porting over Dark Armor to tankers might make up the disparity, but doesn't really make us feel that the Devs care about the AT. It feels more like a cop out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Note I specifically said I'm not against new Powersets for Defense. My point is that there is an *illusion* of a lack of Powersets when, in fact, there in no lack of Powersets in the Defense Class. The illusion of a lack of Powersets comes from the bad decisions of the Devs to not allow more sharing of those Powersets in the past. This is a mistake which seems to be rather easily rectified and alleviate the overly restrictive choice between only 4 Powersets each. More sharing at this point is not a cop out, it's doing now what should have been done.

    [ QUOTE ]
We have 4 primaries, that's it. Yes, adding a fifth even just porting one over would add to that, but we WANT something new. I think after 3 years that's not an unreasonable request.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And if they did the sharing that they were supposed to have done, you'd have 6 and 7 powersets in the Defense (just like you do for Melee... there is *no* shortage of Powerset options for Tanker Secondaries and Scrapper Primaries); then there wouldn't be this perceived lack of love because you would have started with more Powersets and you would have been given a new Powerset or two when CoV came out. If the Tank started out with 5 Defense choices and was given an option of one of the new ones from CoV, then you would not be feeling so unloved now that you'd be demanding something new and exclusive.

    [ QUOTE ]
Who do you really feel needs new sets? MMs? They got 5 brand new spanking sets with the release of CoV and issue 7.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You got to be kidding me. You complain that the Tank only has four choices in their Primary but the MM should settle with 5 because their *newer*? There are only 5 Summons Sets. Period. There are 10 Defense Sets. The Devs wrongly limited Tanks to 4 of those 10. Easily rectified. Coming up with brand new sets... not so easy. Tanks could easily wind up with 7 Sets within a year if sharing is more allowed. It would take 18 months for two more Summons Sets to be created.

    [ QUOTE ]
Stalkers? Brand new AT with some new powersets at the release of CoV, plus got Dark Melee ported to them with Issue 7. Tankers haven't gotten ANYTHING new, not even a ported set, since CoH was released. Certainly, it is not an unreasonable request for us to want something new, and some actual Dev time that isn't nerfs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Newness to the game is a false criterion. Just because you already played around with Dark Armor, Electric Armor, or Energy Aura on other ATs doesn't mean giving them to Tankers isn't bring them up to parity with other ATs.

    [ QUOTE ]
Just porting sets over will not really solve the problem at all. We've been asking for something new since Defenders got new powersets. I do not think it's unreasonable at all to be asking for at least some new primary set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, I'm not against new Sets. But first let's do the sharing that there should have been. As I mentioned above, there are 10 Ranged Powersets and 3 ATs share them and each has 7 Sets. And even though Ranged is the primary of two of those ATs, neither of those two have a unique Set for their AT like Tankers have Ice Armor only to themselves.

There's love that need to go around to the other Sets. They want feedback, here's mine: Share the Defense Powersets like you should have and stop this nonsense that there's a lack of options. And if you're going to come up with new Powersets, look at those Classes where there are only 5 or 7 Powersets before you fill out one that already has 10.

Of course this whole hullaboo is even more aburd in that they're looking to create two new Melee Sets which already has the most Sets and in which the Scrappers and Tanks already have a healthy 6 or 7 choices.

  2. BTW, here is my handy-dandy chart of ATs v. Powersets that I use for easy reference:

    ATs, Powerset Classes, & Powersets

Click on the chart once to make it slightly expand so that everything is legible.

  3. New Caverns Trial:

    Induced Coma: Sleep/Range
    2 Impervious Skin: End/Rech
    Cacaphony: Conf/Range
    Debilitative Action: Immob/Range
    Kismet: End/Rech
    Razzle Dazzle: Stun/Range
    Unspeakable Terror: Fear/Range
  4. OK, if there is going to be a new Defense Powerset, then I suggest:

    Magic Ward Defense Powerset

We've seen a little of this with the Patron Powerset shields and with the magical scripts floating about the Banished Pantheon, especially the masks.

Floaty wards that don't have to conform tightly to a model would be easy to code, I imagine. Plus none of the other Defense Powersets are very magical (Dark comes a little close).

Besides, I don't remember Gandalf getting hit a lot, got to be some sort of magical defense out there.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
The intent is to fill in the two Archetypes with the least number of powers: Tanker primary and Scrapper secondary, which only have 4 choices currently.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not claiming that this is a lie, but it is grossly incorrect.

The Tanker Primary and Scrapper Secondary Powersets belong to the Powerset Class called "Defense." There are a total 10 different Powersets in the Defense Class. Is that a lot or a little? Well, let's compare it to the other Powerset Classes, of which there are eight. I will list them in order from the Class with the most Powersets to the Class with the least:<ul type="square">[*]Melee - 15[*]Buff - 12[*]Defense - 10[*]Ranged - 10[*]Control - 7[*]Assault - 5[*]Summon -5[*]Support - 5[/list]
Notice that Defense is tied for 3rd place with the most Powersets. Notice also that Tankers and Scrappers use the Melee Class Powersets of which there are 15 Powersets... the *highest* amount of Powersets. So, even if there is some merit to the claim the Defense needs to be beefed up, the second poll regarding Melee is completely unwarranted based on the so-called need to redress shortcomings in numbers.

There is no shortcomings in the number of Powersets of the Defense or Melee Classes when compared to the other Powerset Classes.

So, what about the fact that Scrappers and Tankers can only chose from among 4 Powersets each? Well, that is true, but only because the Developers made the decision not to share the Defense Powersets among the 4 ATs that use them. I don't know why. Look at the Ranged Class. There are three ATs that share that Class of Powersets and each of those three ATs can chose from 7 of those 10. So why are the Ranged Powersets liberally shared but the Defense Powersets are not?

Lets take a look at those Defense Powersets, listed by which ATs can use them:

    Scrapper/Brute/Stalker
    + Dark Armor

    Tank
    + Ice Armor

    Tank &amp; Brute
    + Fiery Aura
    + Stone Armor

    Scrapper/Tank/Brute
    + Invulnerability

    Scrapper &amp; Stalker
    + Regeneration
    + Super Reflexes

    Stalker
    + Ninjitsu

    Brute &amp; Stalker
    + Energy Aura

    Brute
    + Electric Armor

Is there some reason Scrappers can't have Fiery Aura, Energy Aura, Electric Armor or Ninjitsu? Is there some reason Tanks can't have Energy Aura, Electric Armor, or Dark Armor?

So, I will agree that Defense could use one or two more Powersets, however, I will vehemently disagree that they need special attention if it comes at the cost of neglecting the other classes which have a much more limited number of Powersets in their Class. Letting Defensive Sets be more liberally shared is an easy solution (I presume, coding-wise). Share those sets first, then address the other Classes that are truly in need of more love than the Defense Class. Only then, work on new Powersets for Defense.

Now, getting back to the other poll on the Melee Class: REALLY!?? Melee has 15 Powersets. It has a significantly higher number of sets than any other Class. Tanks have access to 7 of these and Scrappers have access to 6 of them, which is more choices than seven other AT secondaries and primaries have. When it comes to Melee, Tankers and Scrappers have the most choices than most of the other ATs. No, really, are you serious here? There's a Melee glut and and Tankers and Scrappers have their full of them. And you're saying new Melee Powersets is seen as a *need*? Really? I don't get it.

Another way to evaluate AT choices is to look at the total combination of Powersets from the Primary and Secondary. Currently, there are 24 unique Scrapper combos and 28 Tanker combos. That is low, but there are other ATs just as low. There are only 25 MasterMind and 25 Dominator combos that are possible. Where's the love for them and their lack of choices? And if you simply shared two extra Defense Powersets with the Scrappers and Tankers, then they'd have 36 and 42 combos, putting them near the top of the combo ladder.

In short, unless the Powerset Classes that are *truly* bereft of choices currently have new Powersets in the works, there should be no attention paid to Classes that have a wide variety of Powersets, such as Melee and Defense.

By clicking on the item, you'll also be able to see a history of the price of the item from the last ten purchases.

Well, that was changed a long time ago to the last *five* purchases. Forgot to update the guide with that info.
  7. Another Cavern Run:

    Razzle Dazzle: Stun/Range
    Kismet: End/Rech (2 drops)
    Impeded Swiftness: Slow/Range
    Debilitative Action: Immob/Range
    Unspeakable Terror: Fear/Range
    Regenerative Health: Heal/Rech
    Neuronic Shutdown: Hold/Range
  8. Another Caverns run:

    Neuronic Shutdown: Hold/Range
    Kismet: End/Rech
    Cacophany: Conf/Range
    Debiliatative Action: Immob/Recharge
Unspeakable Fear: Fear/Range (two players each got one)
  9. I suppose you all thought Kratos was pronounced Krah-tos.

Anyway, send the vid to X-Play, they can't seem to find enough fillers in the current dearth of new releases.
  10. Some more Cavern Trial Results:

    Debilitative Action: Immob/Rech
    Cacophany: Conf/Range

And again, a Set IO you have listed for Pool B dropped as a Pool D Trial reward:

    Regenerative Tissue: Heal/Rech

The Croatoa Accolade "Geas of the Kind Ones" can be achieved by level 30, the minimum level one must be for the task force. Expect to sacrifice yourself multiple times to accrue enough debt to make up for 10 consecutive AV kills, however. I know for certain it's not a minimum of 40, as my 32 Controller just got the thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ten Times the Victor is not needed for the Geas Accolade. Ten Times is its own accolade that unlocks the witch's hat.

The first mission can be 'failed' by not defeating the AV at all, whether no times or only nine times. At anytime before the tenth defeat if everyone leaves the map, the mission fails. The failure has no impact on the rest of the Task Force. So, one person can jump in and out of the first mission, fail it, and then everyone moves on to the next mission. Of course, this means no Ten Tims Accolade or witch's hat.

Once the TF is complete, everyone earns the Cabalist Badge which is necessary for the Geas Accolade.

Both of these have been reported as Pool B, however, I just ran the Caverns Trial twice and I got:

    Induced Coma: Sleep/Range
    Commanding Presence: Acc/End

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hmm that's a little weird that two recipes reported as B have turned up as rewards for the Cavern Trial. However the Cavern Trial rewards seem a little weird anyway at the moment - a lot of people seem to be getting level 30 recipes when they are auto-exemped down (remember the cavern trial auto-exemps to 15 - so 30 is a really weird level to be rewarding at). Were the recipes you got level 30 too?

    [/ QUOTE ]

All at 27, which is the level of the character.

Someone who was two-boxing reported getting one 30 and one 29!

[make mental note: ask teammates what they got...]
  13. Caverns Trial again... Unspeakable Terror: Fear/Range
  14. Both of these have been reported as Pool B, however, I just ran the Caverns Trial twice and I got:

    Induced Coma: Sleep/Range
    Commanding Presence: Acc/End
  15. Zombie Man

If you let the players start animating it will mean just one thing: Hello Kitty skins on everything.

Threads that make threats or use other combative language will be removed without notice. If you ask a question on the board and it has not been addressed by a moderator, there is a reason for that (or there is not an answer currently available). In the event of legitimate emergencies, or other unprecedented scenarios, we will endeavor to provide comments, even if it is only to state that there is no officially available information. However, this is not always possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And yet, Positron has indulged two 'calling out' threads.

Forum mods should have locked both down contents unseen just by the thread title alone.

If there are more of them, Posi, it's you're own fault.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a fine line; I took this thread mostly to be a joke, so I'm surprised Posi even replied. But didn't you start the "Set IOs shut off when Exemplared - Feedback" thread? Since the devs didn't ASK for feedback and it wasn't stickied, it's borderline; it doesn't demand a dev response, but by presuming to emulate an official feed it implies they should be reading it, at least, if not responding. The "Devs, I want an answer" threads are just silly because they're presumptuous. I liked your method better, and I posted in the thread a lot not only to make sure all the points had been made but hoping the devs would address the issue, possibly engaging in a dialogue and addressing individual points... the "dev silence" threads are the same thing, just with a neon sign.

Perhaps we need a "Continued Dev Silence on Exemplaring Set Bonus Shutoff" thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The forums as a whole, but especially the Test forum and Player Suggestion forum implies the devs are soliciting feedback. They say as much quite often. It has been made clear that not all feedback topics need be started by the devs.

Furthermore, there's a big difference from offering feedback at one's own initiative and hoping for a response on one hand; and whining, complaining, or demanding a response on the other hand.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Reasons why devs might be silent on an issue:

    1) We didn't see the issue. There are a lot of threads out there.
    2) We are in the middle of looking at an issue, and saying anything at the time might be invalidated. Even something like "we are looking into it" can be read as "we are going to change it" if we look at it and find it to be fine, we would get blasted for not changing it when we said we would.
    3) The answer is already being given by a lot of players already
    4) The answer is obvious (and thus will eventually be given out by a lot of players, see #3).
    5) It involves talking about stuff we can't/shouldn't be talking about.
    6) The question is a "when" question. We rarely answer these, because even when we put disclaimers on it, our answer becomes taken as gospel, and if we fail to deliver, we look bad.

There's a secret 7th reason that I am not going to give you because of reason #7.

  20. Dark Dark Defenders have two AoE stun powers... Howling Twilight and Dark Pit. Together, they can overwhelm even bosses.

And so, by myself, I was able to take care of the banes that dropped from the flyer and the banes that LR spawns by hitting them with the double AoE stuns (followed by Tentacles to keep them from moving, Tar Patch to weaken them, and then Night Fall, the cone damage).

All controllers and most defenders should be able to provide the same protection if they hold back their group control powers waiting to spring them on what's supposed to be an ambush.

WRT Ghost Widow: The Tentacles from me and my dark servant were enough to immob her and most of the AVs for about 80% of the time. AVs' PToD do not protect from immob. Thus we were able to keep her in one place on top of the Tar Patch and away from the taunting tank. Thus, she wasn't able to get her heals off. Though, in the end, we had to pull off our scrappers so that she was totally isolated and wasn't healing at all to defeat her. Just like everyone uses Geas v. Mako; get everyone to fire off Crey Pistol on GW if she moves around too much closing in on you.

Also Note: Big difference from doing the STF on Invincible compared to Heroic. I highly recommend Heroic... it takes three hours off the length of time.
