For all you people calling the Wallpaper Ouroboros "Mayan" or "Aztecan" or a "Mayan Calendar" or Quasicoatail-as-a-ouroboros...
PICS OR IT NEVER HAPPENED.
Let's do some research before you spout WAGs.
It's like looking at a Roman Eagle and calling it Norse because it's all ancient European. Yes, that much wrong.
As our dear El Paisa and others have pointed out pointed out, wrong cultures for Colombia. (In fact, I'll wager that none of you know the name of any pre-Columbian Colombian indigenous tribe -- I certainly didn't before befriending several Colombians.) -

Um...Ok...whatever happened to the rule where you cant be elected president more than twice? I am pretty sure they made this a rule at some point in time.

Good question.
From the article:

"There is no such thing as the USs 20th Amendment [in the Rogue Isles], limiting a presidents number of terms," said Dr. Jennifer Dornan, socio-political advisor for the Rogue Isles. "So because of Marchands unique situation where he is essentially immortal, he can run for office indefinitely."
[/ QUOTE ]
20th Amendment of the US Constitution on Wikipedia
Then there's the 22nd Amendment, which may be more relevant.
Or maybe it's Alternate Timeline again.
EDIT: Yeah, I know that the Rogue Isles are not technically subject to the Constitution. I'm just wondering what happened to the 20th/22nd switch.

From the history background on the Family:
[ QUOTE ]
The origins of The Family can be traced directly to Paragon City in the 70s, and even more loosely back to the 20s and 30s. In the heyday of organized crime, Paragons underworld was controlled by the Sicilian Families: Blundetto, Bonanno, Dante, Denaro, Garibaldi, Genovese, Gravano, Gualtieri, Liggio, Marcone, Navarra, Troia, and Verandi. A whos who of Italian names originally from Corleone and Capaci, and Palermo Centro and Santa Maria di Gesu. The Prohibition era was a boon to them, as Rhode Island was one of two states not to ratify the 18th Amendment to the Constitution (Prohibition), and 400 miles of Rhode Islands un-policed coastline was a dream for rumrunners who smuggled in good quality liquor from Canada and the Bahamas.
[/ QUOTE ]
If there were no Prohibition, then not only would that take away one of the greatest boons to organized crime, but Rhode Island would not have had a rum running 'business' to give rise to local organized crime, nor the local economy.
Without so much organized crime, Paragon city would be less of a magnet to super powered heroes. -

The links for the SF guides don't work any longer. Anyone have a good walkthrough of this one?
Thanks
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know of any others, they're not in the guides section.
And this is the reason why we ask guide writers to at least throw up a copy of their guides in the forums as well as their personal sites in case links go stale.
These aren't guides, but they are the missions and text:

Guides get necro'd often because people who never originally read them find them listed in the Guide to Guides, read 'em, and comment, not realizing how old they are.

I was just trying to make a joke ("lazy" guide --> kept putting it off). But I guess it failed.

Ah, I was replying in general to the wow-ness of the rezziness of such a long-dead thread, not to your clever comment. -

Time travel storyline? Ugh.
I hate to say this, but if it isn't done right they're going to screw this game up. Seriously.

So, you're calling Doom on a wild guess of what may be happening and supposing they'll do a horrible job at it.
You're as cheery as Venture. -

And since this thread has been rezzed...
Bots/FF isn't lazy because teammates keep screaming to be bubbled. You want the king of MMs and prince of cruise: Bots/Dark. Put yourself in body guard mode and follow the Brute with Twilight Grasp on auto. You and the Brute will constantly be healed, bots will heal and bubble each other, and you have no buffs for team mates to scream for (except for the rare, 'rez meh!'). -

Ever found yourself struggling to find when redname said something.
Well, now, as well as keeping up to date with the latest Dev posts (Dev Digest, Community Digest & EU Dev Digest) via RSS feeds you can search the archive that powers those feeds, free from the pain of ending up at a deleted thread!
A few examples:
- _Castle_ talking about defiance
- Anyone talking about defiance
- That MOTD popup

Hmmm.... Saw a post Arctic was going to work with Tabula Rasa, and yet still posts here.
Geko is doing MUO, but may still be a resource for CoH.

So, I'm obligated to go out to dinner, rush back, find out the secret identity of Castle with a pic and I'm scooped. Drat.
Anyway, our ability to keep track of the Devs is woefully lacking, so, I whipped us this google spreadsheet based on forum posts and ParagonWiki (which is surprisingly lacking in info in this regard).
Take a look and help fill in any details.

Would help if you turn on editing
EDIT: hmm, given then above info, perhaps then this is a bad idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not only that, don't want some knuckleheads deleting info, or posting bogus info, or adding bobbafuey! I'm not a Wiki.
Well, the only real secrets being revealed is connecting a forum name to a real name. And considering the real names get listed on retail boxes and award ballots... I hope no dev minds.
Besides, this is a compilation of already revealed facts or info from connecting the dots from public records. -

Now see, the day after JLove started posting his "I'm too sexy for this bulletin board" posts, I was rummaging through his online collection of vacation pics assessing just how sexy he really is. That's because he made the fatal error of using his real name, "Jay," and that was all I needed. (I advised him to password those pics.)
The problem is I don't have real name to associate with _Castle_. Of all the people credited for the CoV game, there's about one third of the developers I've narrowed down who Castle could be. With just a name, I shall find his picture. And use it in my binding spells.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well then, I just gotta ask... where DID you find jay's vacation pix and is he really as sexy as he looks in this pic?
[/ QUOTE ]
I want plausible deniability for ratting him out, and not taking blame for all his unprotected personal pics alternately being lolo-shopped by the pwnz court and lustily posterized by the encrushed geekdom.

BIO-NUKES as a solution to survival buffs
Just to make a note in the guide thread:
We've found that launching a bio-nuke (Warburg temp power) on the assembled raid, just prior to sending the brute squads, really enhances the survivability and effectiveness of the raiders. While I don't like leaning on crutches like this, it is a suitable solution to the lack of survival buffs villain-side. One nuke per assault/bloom (ideally four total) should be all that's needed.
-Sandolphan
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh heh, that was me who launched the bio missile right before the last bloom rush (I figured that was the time to do it if we were running out of EoEs).
As a Dark/Regen Scrapper with a stealth IO and fly, I can gather all three missiles in 45 minutes. I only have to defeat the spawns guarding scientists or panels, I just run by and regenerate damage taken from other spawns. And if I go when the zone is empty, not only do I not have to deal with gankers, but the spawns are mostly minions and only an occasional lieutenant. (It takes *a lot* longer to pick up the missiles with my squishier toons.)
So, for me, the bio-missile is just a 15 minute investment. If other scrappers or tanks want to pick them up so there's a bio-missile for each bloom, that would be cool, too. BTW... do they stack?
Also, pre-meditated Vengeance couldn't hurt, either. -

If the all access multi pass doohickey comes to fruition, I'll play TR.
[/ QUOTE ]
The more I think about that, especially how the sharing of revenue with third party developers needs to be negotiated... the more I believe that CoH/V will never be included in an all-access NCSoft pass. Putting myself in Cryptic's shoes:
Cryptic: "Wait, you're going to collect less money per game overall, give us a proportional share of it compared to Lineage, and we're suppose to hope that an increase in volume as players flock to this Great Idea will make up for the reduced income per player?... We'll get back to you on that..."
That would be a very dicey deal for Cryptic, they'd have to bet that the all-access pass will draw and retain *a lot* more customers and that compared to the other NCSoft games, they'll compete well against them for the proportional share of the customers.
If this was ever going to come to pass it should have been done when Korean servers were up and there was the hope that even a tiny sliver of the Korean Lineage players would hop onto CoH occasionally. That moment is gone. -
Excellent. Never thought about using -"Re: "
Your guide discusses using the minus sign but never delves into using the plus sign or quotes and what that all means.
The other search guide is here. ZealotOnAStick talks about those other search features. Since Zealot never updated his guide and since his last post was Sept '05, I think it would be great if you would incorporate all his info into your guide and thus we would have one comprehensive and updated guide to forum search.
The only thing I will add which is in neither search guide is that the list of forums to search through follows the windows' shift and ctrl click rules, namely:
If you click an item in the list and then shift+click another item, both items and all the items inbetween will be selected. This way, you can select a range of contiguous forums.
If you ctrl+click an item, it will toggle the item to be selected or not. This way, your search can be limited to several non-contiguous forums. -

This is the new "announce patches ahead of time" policy now in effect.
Rather than surprise patch, then notes. We're getting a heads up that the patch is coming and the notes will be coming.
So... ain't much to discuss until the actual patch or notes become a reality. -

Yeah... he should have used one when he coined "Langoliers."

As to the all caps thing, it fits in a few situations where the character's name is an acronym or such. Characters in comics don't have floaty names, and the other characters don't address them in all caps. It just looks lame, like you have some kind of insecurity issue. All lowercase gives the impression that you're careless and lazy. Alternating caps is just juvenile. Being able to handle the shift key properly at least shows that you put a little thought into what you were doing.

Many comic fonts are all caps. And as for going by an acronym, all I can say is...
