    New Power Supply

I saw this and wondered if it was a good idea/buy for my PC, not sure what to look for for congruency any help? I have an HP m7750n desktop. Just put in an EVGA GeForce GT 430 1GB DDR3 PCIe vid card as well.

  2. Well, i tested something, if i have a window open with sound, then change the default speakers to the other audio and open a new window with audio, it WILL play on both the desktop and the tv audio. With each window playing on each different audio device. So it IS possible, or should be at least, just not sure of the stipulations, or if the video card/drivers will let it without that workaround, which really isn't when playing in full screen mode XD Which I still get that issue.
  3. Also, couple issues. One, i'm sure i just have to set the default in the game somehow, but when i load up coh, it goes to the monitor, and I can't get it to go on the tv.

Also, the sound, i have to set it as a default, between the desktop speakers, and the tv. When i set it, anything i open will use those, but i can't switch between speakers while something is open and using them for some reason, any idea how i can keep switching between which speakers are used at any given time. The ULTIMATE goal, is to use both the desktop and tv speakers, but each will use depending on what's on the SCREEN that they are associated with.

So that way i could say have the game on my monitor, and the CWTV website for example on the tv, and i could have sound for the TV website as I'm watching it, and i could hear my video game on the desktop speakers/monitor.
  4. Also the video on the tv, isn't as clear, the web site comes in looking like it's HD but not the video. Any idea how to fix that, and also it's kinda jumpy, but not when i'm watching it on the monitor. I'm open to ideas to fix that too.
  5. Yeah i tried it and it worked WOOOHOOO!!! the sound is working on the TV too now! Only hitch left, is when I have lets say the CWTV website over to the tv, and i set a show i'm watching like Smallville right now, when i put it to full screen, and return the mouse to my computer monitor, when I actually click on the computer monitor screen anywhere, it takes the video on the TV down from full screen Any idea how to stop this and keep it at full screen on the tv and still let me mess around on my monitor?

Hope this helps. I also have a Pavillion, and setting the audio in the BIOS to "enabled" got my sound back.
Thanks that's what we were figuring, hwo do I get to BIOS though, f10 while starting up?

Also, I DO want to send it to my TV, so getting the sound to work to that would be good as well if anyone knows how to get video/sound to it. I plugged in the HDMI cable to it, and set it on the tv to that cable input, but no picture came about, or sound. I imagine I have to set it to display on the tv, but not sure what i'd do to route the sound to the tv, while still maintaining the sound on my computer monitor/speakers part as well.

The survivability on a non-IO'd build definitely favors the defense build, but that was true before the debuff, and by the same percentages, so the damage debuff doesn't favor either type. Against a hardcapped resistance or softcapped defense, both are exactly the same for survival. Try to factor in all the other benefits of any given secondary/pool power or determine any percentage of each damage type or position that might happen and all you get is a mess.
Actually they will favor the SR more, due to the scaling resistances. Since the resistance kicks in when you actually hit a certain HP percentage, and not in the meanwhile while that damage is kicking in, it gives you more incriments for the resistance to build up. Quirky I know, but that's what can make SR fun.

You don't really need it, but there are a few circumstances where it is nice to have.

It gives you gobs of defense for 2 minutes, which is helpful against enemies that have a lot of to-hit buffs, or higher accuracy than normal. It also massively boosts your end recovery and movement speed for the same duration, so if you find yourself getting drained (unlikely) or slowed (also unlikely) you have a power that will let you reduce or eliminate those effects.

Elude on a softcapped SR has basically been relegated to being that power you take when there's nothing else you want and when you have no slots to put into it. It can be useful, but it's hardly a critical power anymore.
    Correct on Shadow Meld.

As to elude, it helps against to hit buffed enemies, not high accuracie'd ones the way the defense/accuracy equation works IIRC.
  10. Ok, well with bios, not much experience, but if i disable it, i could always enable it again, that's kinda what I was thinking when talking to my friend today. But not sure how to go to the BIOS atm to do so, quick references? heh

So your odds of missing all 5 of those is 1:1024 meaning you have a 0.09765% chance of doing no extra damage or slightly more than a 99.9% chance of doing some extra damage.

So you can turn sleet slotted for just recharge from an attack doing 25 damage or so into a nuke doing 900-4500 that is up every 15-30 seconds with decent recharge. Oh and don't forget the resist debuff that sleet adds along with the resist debuff from the reactive proc as well. Consider too that if you get a Fire/Storm you would have accees to rain of fire, freezing rain and tornado. That is just 3 kinds of wrong right there.
Rain of fire doesn't debuff defense

I think that due to KM -DMG, resistance based sets would be better because the effects stack, right? And to keep Power Siphon up, any set with +Recharge would be good too, I guess.

I see a lot of people choosing KM/SR. Is it good?

And last question: Do the damage debuffs from KM stack?

    Any help would be appreciated!
I was just going to suggest KM/SR

It works better than a resistance based set IMO cause of the stacking defensive types. Plus personally I'm not a fan of elec armor outside of tanks. With elec you'd generally more want enemies around you for lightning field to damage and to keep enemies drained. SR is nice I think cause you can just jump around and do whatever you well please, which is nice for the ranged attacks.

Don't get me wrong I like KM with elec armor, but i'd do it on a tank. With your resists higher, it makes more of an impact when using it as an AV tanker.

The SR though, pairing capped defense with the -resists, can actually make it one heck of an AV machine as well.

for example. On a brute with tough, you'd be looking at about 58%s/l resistance, 90% elec, 33% neg, and 45% fire/cold resistance. Lets say you're fighting a S/L AV, and have power siphon up as much as possible, meaning you'll have about lets say lowball 3 siphons on the AV at all times.

So for 1000 points of damage, he's going to hit you for 420 points of damage. Now figure he has for an even level AV 19.125% -damage, thats 339.675 damage. On the recharge build I made for the kin/elec brute he's got 14.4% s/l defense. So 14.4% + 47.5% = 61.9%, 100-61.9% = 38.1% chance to hit you.

339.675 damage x 38.1% chance to hit = 129.62%damage value per that attack.

    Now looking to the SR:

1000, - the 17.5% s/l res. from tough = 825 damage. Now at the defense cap with SR, AVs have 7.5% base chance to hit you IIRC (used in the above equation so correct me if I'm wrong).

So that 825 damage times a .075 = 61.88%damage value per that attack. That is before the scalling DDR kicks in. My km/sr brute has 2177hp. So that's going to factor in, now for him to hit those 3 times it would take a 4th hit of that value to take you down. Now that's S/L, the brute may lose tough vs non s/l attacks, but the elec armor outside of obviously elec attacks has the lower resistances which will scale down a lot the effectiveness, not as noticed in the SR who still has the capped defense.

Granted, there are AVs that make one better than the other, but it generalized to an energy damage AV and certain psys like malaise, and most any others. the - damage really helps extend the durability of the SR's scaling resistances. Giving it a somewhat multiplicative effect, where on the elec armor it simply adds to it.

Now the elec armor, can't discount energize, which is nice, but the SR can easily pick up aid self which would push further than likely getting it on the elec armor would do.

My KM/SR brute also regenerates a shave over a tic every 3 seconds. (33.9 HP/S) So with the scaling resistances and high brute HP, really gives those AV misses a run for their money. A simple orange can go further than other things at this point. Also if you count that 5% resistance to all if you have the veteran buff pet, that really helps in this scenario when you're only fighting an AV so he's not killing your pet.

Here's the brute build I made. I didn't *focus* on fighting AVs with this build. Had I done so I would have dropped the ranged attacks (which i keep on this build cause i think they're fun) and picked up aid self, could easily drop a slot from the defense toggles, and picked up hasten somewhere, if mainly going for avs, duh forgot you could drop burst too. And focused a tad more on some endurance like using a miracle with a saved slot etc.

This is what dual builds are for :P.

Not quite, but at least the fear is gone. It still suffers from less damage since half of the damage is put up front and has a target cap of only 5 enemies, whereas if it weren't it would alternate that damage to all the enemies around you evenly.
  15. I placed the old video card in and everything works fine on the sound again, there has to be something I have to switch or allocate so it works, it shouldn't be a matter of re-routing any connections, maybe for the hdmi to the tv to work with sound, but not for it to work just on my speakers where the output is. When I put in the other video card the new EVGA, it says that there are no playback devices. But when i have the old video card in, they are there clear as day and working, Realtek high definition audio speakers. That makes no sense
  16. Can anyone help! I just put in a new video card, which is working, but now I have no sound! Also, when i plug the HDMI cable to my tv, nothing shows or sounds on the tv! Please help! Have an EVGA 430 GT 1gig DDR 3, just switched out from a PNY 8600 GT 512 DDR2, the video works fine but no sound
  17. Oh never know which, its an EVGA GeForce GT 430 1GB DDR3 PCIe (though i think it's PCIE2) I just had a XFX 8600GT 512mb in it with no audio issues. and i just downloaded all the drivers, so unless it fixes when i restart after doing so I have no idea what to do
  18. Not sure where to find them, I installed the drivers from the cd that it came with, not sure on the control panel thing, but when i go to "sound" in control panel, it shows all 4 things are working properly, but clearly they aren't There are some drivers installing now we'll see if that hopefully fixes the issue.

And on playing on the TV, do i have to change it each time via the computer? I fgured it coudl send the signal to both the monitor and the tv like a dual monitor, and the HDMI cable to the tv could still get sound too.

So the first one as mentioned is faster, can you explain what the 12 volts versus 50 watts means? I understand staying under the 300watts the system starts with, but not sure how that works with 12 volts, or what you mean it's rated at 50 watts maximum, that sounds like a good thing to keep the watt usage under that 300.

Anyone have any idea how either of these vid cards would work with a HP M7750N desktop? More interested in the first one one cause of the HDMI connection that would work for my TV.

So for most people, the change increased both damage output AND the actual amount of stuns being applied. It also helped address an acknowledged weakness of the set as actually played by most people, which was the mishmash of differing secondary effects that didn't add up to much. By encouraging people to actually use Cobra Strike (and I believe Eagles Claw was buffed as well), we now have a much more integrated set of secondary effects centered on stunning. Yes, nothing's really changed in that regard if you look at the powers in a vacuum, and of course it's actually gotten worse. But as actually played by probably most people, it's now much more clearly a stun set, and we're getting more stuns out of it.

I think it was just what the set needed for most people. It was NOT what the set needed for people who had already focused on the stun aspects of the set (particularly when combined with Dark Armor's Oppressive Gloom), and were less concerned about damage output. But I think those people are a small minority.

So the devs went with greatest good for the greatest number. It sucks to be on the wrong side of that, of course.
I wouldn't complain if they'd then fix the biggest issue with MA, personally and probably on the whole, which is it's lack of cones/aoe. DT is nice, but with 6 attacks now, the set is FAR too one-trick pony. Since if we're adding cobra strike as an attack, at least round the set better. Make storm kick a melee cone, wide angle, short distance, and then crane kick can all too easily be turned into the Headsplitter/Golden Dragonfly style cone, 10ft, skinny angle. The way the kick is, it makes far too much sense that you're kicking so strongly that the force of the kick extends to a few enemies behind it.
