Not that this point hasn't been made before, but I think it's worth highlighting again. You can replace Steel's name with anyone's and their situation and it still applies. I absolutely understand that RL takes priority and can mean less time for game related events. I absolutely agree that if people want to step up and try it for themselves, they should. And I wholeheartedly agree that raiders shouldn't rely on one person.

I know I've said it before, but let's not lose sight of the interest shown in this thread. The more people willing to step up, the less it means that one person or a group of people will be responsible for making regular raids happen, so when RL does come up for those people, it doesn't mean we have to take breaks.

I found a better example for you in the Virtue forums if you'd like to take a look. It was conveniently posted yesterday in their main Hami thread. (I've checked in there before for more current information, but the last post was in 2009.)

They have a slightly different mito clearing strat than we use, but no mention of nukes in their strategy. From the people I've spoken to on Virtue, I was told that they pride themselves on not using nukes. Even when the green mito bug was out, they were able to complete raids without using nukes.

The 18 minute evac-less raid was done with no nukes, or 'gimmicks' other than people working together exceptionally well that night and having an ideal mix of ATs that happened to show up. Since the first evac-less raid we tried, we've continued to use it as a strat on a regular basis. Our times generally range from 20 to 30 mins from entry into the jello to merits/HOs. This is not unlike other servers. I'll use an example posted by someone on Guardian:

Just reading this reminded me how the strat itself hasn't changed much, but after raiding for quite a while, we've streamlined the teams so that so much support isn't necessary for teams like yellow taunt. Thankfully, this frees up spots for other ATs people might want to bring, even for evac-less raids.

I'm not sure if by this, you're implying that we've been using nukes all this while. As Cobalt said, blueside raids, even the 16 man raid held on Champion, were done without these. Redside, however, is different and has been using a strat involving bio nukes. (This is not to say that nukes are necessary for redside to be successful, but do help things along quite a bit depending on the version of the strat being used.) I just wanted to make that clear in case there was confusion.

What you said here implies that people post about raids for attention. Again, as Cobalt said, raids, along with just about every other event held for the Champion community, are posted on the forums to get the word out to people. We've been fortunate as a server to have a lot of people thinking up event ideas, whether it be PvP, Tanker Tuesdays, MS raids, MoTF nights, badge tours or whatever the case that we have a calendar to keep track of it all. I had someone tell me how impressed they were with our server calendar because they could find out exactly when everything was being hosted instead of sifting through pages of posts. On that note, I think if someone or a group of people accomplish something great, they should post about it. We have some amazingly talented players on this server, and personally I love to hear about other Champions kicking ***.

Format

A minimum of 3 ten minute matches set to Flyweight (level 6 to 11) with the following settings:

- No Travel Suppression
- No Heal Decay
- No Travel Powers
- Small Inspirations Only

As per usual, matches will include FFAs, small teams, large teams, and perhaps we'll give Capture the Flag another go. (I think the flag would switch teams a lot faster with this bunch of toons).

P.S. Don't feel bad if a certain AT wasn't listed for this week! The theme will change each week and some weeks will include all available ATs. So stay tuned!

The event will start as close to 7:30pm EST as possible so please arrive a few minutes early in Pocket D and send a tell to @Amygdala. I will then invite you to the match so I can see how many people we're working with.

Actually I do, just not on this server at the moment.

And while I wouldn't mind transferring it or rolling another toon on this server for the sake of the event, I don't necessarily want to impose this on casual participants. I also like the idea of having a mix of hero and villain ATs at each event so each side is represented.

So for now, I'm going to keep it on the flexible side. However, if there's a lot of support for a single AT night, I'll definitely look into it.

Blasters was suggested to me last night... but I might open it up to Defenders, Corruptors and Dominators as well, since I'm currently lacking a Blaster on this server and I'd like to make it easy for people to be able to participate.

Yep, you should have up to level 16 powers.

I'm glad you posted this, because there seems to be a misconception here. No one needs to be 'appointed' by anyone. All that needs to be done, if you want to lead a raid, is post it, set a time, get some people together and have an understanding of the strat. It's wide open to anyone who wants to give it a shot. No one owns Hami.

It's my personal opinion that a system where the responsibility falls on the same people week after week is a recipe for burn out. From this thread, it seems that there are enough people able, willing, and interested in leading raids and there's technically no reason why we can't have weekly raids where people show up and offer to lead teams.

I'm willing to support anyone who wants to step up and try it, in whatever way they would like me to. If they would like to talk to me about my experiences, I'd be more than happy to do that. It's true the general strat hasn't changed drastically, but there are things we've tried over the past year and a half that really helped smooth things out and cut down on the overall time. If they'd like to figure some stuff out for themselves, I can also respect that. Just let me know. Whoever it is, whatever they choose, I'm all for people trying it out for themselves.

It's very exciting to see people taking an interest. As others have posted, this Sunday will be melee themed. I'm going to try to switch the theme up each time, so if melee doesn't work for you, chances are something will come up that does.

Don't worry about the lack of experience, as there are lots of people available to ask if you need help. A willingness to learn is most important.

I saw this trailer recently at the movies and thought the same thing. I mean, it can't be a movie if it's not in 3D, right?

Also, I'm not sure which dance move it is they're talking about that can change the world, but it's definitely not the running man. Studies show that the running man results in backs turning and eyebrows raising 60% of the time, every time. This percentage increases with the amount of effort expended. So whoever is keeping track of 'world peace inducing dance moves', they can cross it off the list.

I want to call them up and tell them to forget the 3D, the world needs saving and Ping's the only man for the job!

I think the above would have a high smack rate. I'll have to run some field tests.
