  1. Well *I* like it!

    Did the image system change recently? I remember going nuts trying to find how to view my images except right after I uploaded them. Now it seems easy.

    Seems a good place to collect videos on the latest MMO's, too.

    It's definitely a fine place to put demos. Heck, it's THE place to put demos! Thing is, I don't know how many folks are interested in seeing other people's demos. I've got tons of the things but would other folks really be interested in seeing them? Sure doesn't look like many hits for what little I have uploaded.

  3. Ah ha! I think it would actually help if I didn't know about Dark Astoria. I expect the cars not to move and the place to look like it does.

    This would definitely be a good place for demo edits. If you could have Temporal Scout in a populated part of the city wandering around with everyone frozen, I think it would drive the point in that she's stuck in time. It would take quite a bit of your own time, though.
  4. I love the music and the mood, but I'm having a heck of a timing figuring out what's actually going on. Does the glowyness mean a person is knocked out of time?

    Vorac has me thinking.... if 3 Kronos Titans get within range of each other, they should combine together (much like the Herc Titains) and form a super-huge robot. Call it Mecha Godzilla. After about 20 minutes of trashing everyone in the zone, Rularuu the Destroyer can fly in and pull its head off.

  15. Defragging the hard drive can help a little, too.

    My demo launcher can take up some memory. If you're short on memory and you're just doing the demo with no options anyway, simply make a shortcut to CityOfHeroes.exe and drag your demo to the shortcut. That keeps my program out of your memory space.

    The console has the demoplay command but I've never been able to get the command to work when playing a demo back. Or even just reload the demo currently playing. That would be mighty sweet if it could.

    AH HA!!! Here's a way I just discovered if you've got a lot of memory...

    Start a demo playback of some smallish demo. Be sure to tell the game NOT to hide text so you can see chat bubbles and, more importantly, the console. Hit the ~ key to bring the console down. Give the command 'demofps 9' and all the action will stop. Alt-tab out and forget about the demo completely.

    As long as that demo is sitting there in memory, further demos you launch will load faster. Not a ton faster, but faster.

    (The DemoFPS command is supposed to be used from the command line to launch demos at faster or slower speed. It would be nice if this worked from the console so we could speed up or slow down motion while the demo played but it's actually broken and causes the demo to go into some weird empty state. That's sure handy for this purpose, though, as it leaves a lot of game files in memory while not taking up a lot of CPU. With those game files already loaded, the second instance of the game can load a bit faster.)

  17. Ugh... matrixeseses.... Such an easy class it seemed. Add the matrix... trivial. Invert... trivial. Find the determinant... tedious but trivial... jeez, how can anyone not ace this course? OK, now we are going to put a matrix in Jordan Cononical Form...... <choke> The last test was so hard that passing was not an option. It was just a question of whether I would do so bad on the test that I would fail the entire course. I've never seen a college course go from "pud" to "weed-out" so fast. It was like a lollypop where you bite into it expecting a fudge center and then find out it's full of concentrated pickle juice.

    We got one of those - it's called City of Heroes. It's kinda hacky but it works OK for some stuff.

    Those stupid ghosts (I call'm zombies) drove me to enough distraction that I put a way to fix them right in the demo launcher.

    That's what your trig BOOK is for.

    Actually, it's possible to do this sans trig but it takes patience. Just fiddle with the numbers - but do it in an organized way. Until you get a feel for what you are doing, never change more than one number and don't change it very much.

    First go in and change ONE of the position numbers by moving it up or down ONE unit. (A unit is about a foot, I think.) Play the demo back again and see how it changed. If it went the wrong way, change it in the other direction and try again. Just keep that up, a few feet at a time, until you get to the right place.

    Then fiddle with the facing of the camera (PYR). Yaw is probably the most important one as it controls the direction (turning your head left or right changes your yaw). Thing is, with PYR, the numbers are more touchy. Increasing by 1 will turn you a LOT. So just move the number up or down by 0.1 instead - maybe even 0.05. Then do the first number (the pitch - nodding your head down or up is changing your pitch). It likely won't need much changing. The final number is the roll (turning your head ON it's side so your ear is on your shoulder is changing your roll), which shouldn't need changing at all.

    If you know your trig, you don't have to mess with this. Just draw a triangle here, an angle there, a little "opposite over adjacent" action, and you plug in the right numbers the first time. Or, if you're just good at visualizing this kind of thing, you can plug in "pretty close" numbers and just tweak them.

    Much better when I watched it the second time. Most of the earlier shots of the protagonist were far enough away that I didn't realize it was the same character. I thought it was just random bits until she got rezzed.
  25. <sigh> Much adoo about nothing. People have been able to quit out of a TF/SF for years and ruin them. Heck, had it happen to me in the second Shadow Shard TF once. A bunch of PowerLevellers were trying to run it and did great against the Nemesis. They hit the Rularuu and, two teamwipes later, left me and a couple of others standing in the mission without a word. Yeah - three of us vs Ruludak - I don't think so.
