  1. Yay! Welcome back Z!

    Last night at FF...

...Raurí and Richard had a...discussion...about Raurí's tactics in making Shanna back out of tonight's mission.

After Shanna turned up, there was more chat about what would be happening, and Tarvin dropped some truely awful puns. Really, if he keeps that up, someone is going to shoot him!
  2. Last night at FF...

...I found out that Raurí can be a manipulative @$#£&* when he wants to be.

Pesky toons with minds of their own.
  3. Are you sure Tarvin's not going to get in a tizzy about not being able to accept it because it's been given to him?
  4. It was indeed the honour 'loophole'. Not something that Shanna found even remotely acceptable.
  5. Last night at FF...

There was general chit chat and discussion of zombie killing methods with Tam mentioning the league that he and Theo have going (which Toppa can't join because he's a cheaty mage!).

Unfortunately, Tarvin put his foot in it in a rather epic fashion, which eventually had Shanna making a poor excuse and going off to "deal with" something - that something being her desire to punch Tarvin!

Then, when she was about to return, there was Rage™ and I had to go and give emergency hugs.
  6. Every day? Ouch!

Shanna arrived a little late and briefly discussed Tarvin's distressing tendency to exaggerate people's powers with Keevan. Apparently, this is something his little brother is known for doing, and it's actually meant as some sort of compliment...

She also persuaded Richard to bunk of the Wednesday board meeting to go the the Fuchsia Hourglass with her as a last night out before the Halloween "fun" begins.
  7. {Galaxy City, 13th September 2011}

It was chaos. Everywhere they looked there were people running, panicking, desperately trying to escape the rubble, or the Shivans that were rising out of the meteors that had destroyed much of the area.

    “Fea! Duck!”

She obeyed the command before it had even registered on her conscious mind, as her twin brother flew over her head, planting a foot squarely in the “face” of one of the alien creatures that had come up behind them. He leapt clear as she threw a bolt of fire at it, making the creature disintegrate before returning to her attempt to free trapped citizens.

“Neit, I could use a hand here.” Shanna called indicating the steel door buried behind the rubble, the rhythmic banging telling them of the people inside. Considering that the rest of the building had been levelled, it was fortunate that the vault had been designed to withstand super powered assault; that was probably the only thing that had kept it relatively intact after the meteors started falling.

Even as the siblings put all their effort into moving the support beam that trapped people in the vault of the jewellery store, more meteors slammed down into what had once been a beautiful part of the city. The sky almost looking burnt with the trails of fire as other heroes desperately tried to deflect the deadly rocks.

“It's no good. Ye're gonna have t' cut it!” the Irishman shouted over the din.

Shanna nodded and, trusting her brother to keep them safe from more Shivans, she concentrated, focusing her power and bringing it to bear on the recalcitrant I-beam. Precious minutes passed as she carefully cut the metal into a more manageable size, forcing herself to be deaf to the screams and sounds of combat going on around her.

The second the beam split, Raurí was back next to her pulling the half-length of steel away and unsealing the door. The cries of relief from the vault's inmates may have had a slightly hysterical edge to them as it slowly swung open on protesting hinges, but given the situation, even the most jaded of Paragon's citizens would have been hard pressed to remain stoic. A quick head count told the brother and sister team that there were eleven people to get to safety, including a baby that couldn't be more than three months old.

“We're gonna have t' make a run for it. Stick t'gether an' follow Neit. I'll be coverin' us from the air.” Shanna ordered the cowed survivors, then glanced at her brother, “Ready?”

At his nod, she stepped into the air and hovered fifteen feet or so above the heads of the group, using her fire to clear the way, denying the Shivans more victims as they rampaged through what had once been a prosperous area. The survivors ran, following Raurí in a terrified huddle, almost as if they were a single multi-legged entity, with the mother and her child at the centre.

“Neit, break left!” She yelled, blasting at a group of five creatures that were making a bee line for the refugee group. Shanna drew them away, and with a well placed fireball, toppled what remained of a wall onto the aliens. She didn't bother to confirm that they were more than trapped before she rushed back to her brother's group to keep them safe from the air.

The small group continued on, Raurí now carrying the jewellery store owner who had a nasty gash on his leg, while Shanna protected them from the air, collecting other survivors as they made their way to the Vanguard controlled checkpoint.

Never in her life had two hundred yards seemed so long! She'd seen her fair share of fights – some nastier than others – but nothing on this scale. The relief she felt as she saw the soldiers advancing to cover their escape was almost overwhelming. Well trained and practised manoeuvres in evidence as they spread out and fired bursts into the aliens that were close behind.

In all, by the time they reached the safety of the checkpoint, there were eighteen in the group. Eighteen shocked, injured and frightened people who were now in the safe hands of the Vanguard medics.

The twins looked at each other for a moment, before an unspoken agreement saw them charging back through the streets, looking for another survivor to help.

    {PCFD Station, Steel Canyon, 13th September 2011, approximately 10:00}

Shanna Connell groaned at the overly awake antics of Jake and the station's dog, Soot, and tried to wedge her shoulders into a more comfortable position on the rec room sofa where she was trying to take a nap.

Despite her good intentions of getting an early night, she'd ended up reviewing the footage taken by her battle armour during the rescue of Sammy Huntington on Sunday night. She'd wanted to make sure she had every last detail memorised before going to interrogate the woman they had arrested at the scene. While she had been successful in that endeavour, the unfortunate result was that by the time she'd reported in for her shift, she'd felt the need to take a catnap until the inevitable emergency call.

She'd managed to doze off for a few minutes, when a half whispered shout penetrated her consciousness, immediately followed by the feeling of being unceremoniously jumped on as Soot leapt onto the sofa to retrieve a badly aimed ball. Fury briefly warred with amusement and lost as the dog, ball in his mouth, took the opportunity to sit on her stomach.

“Okay, okay, I'm up! Gimme that!”

The red-head wrestled the bright blue ball free of the spaniel's mouth and, without seeming to look, threw it directly at Jake as vengeance for his poorly executed pitch. She couldn't help but laugh as the missile hit it's target and bounced off the unsuspecting man's left shoulder.

    “Fetch!”

The beginning of the semester. That was always the most amusing time in Edison's considered opinion.

That was the best time to catch Cassandra's new students out with his cute lil' kitty act before pulling the mage's familiar card at the most dramatically appropriate time. It was something which was yet to grow old in spite, or perhaps because, of the monotony of the starter classes.

This year was different though. For some reason, Cassandra had decided to go straight into lectures on divination. Something she usually reserved for the end of the first semester of the academic year. The black and white cat watched her intently as she guided her students through a simple spell that would allow them to see snippets of the near future.

If he could frown, he would have as he observed the class, using his own magic to watch the build up of the power colours around the freshmen. Most of them had only faint, flickerings of power at this point, with one or two brighter ones which indicated either more practice or a higher natural aptitude for the Art. This was not something that would normally worry him, but he could see the colours weaving their way across the room and seeping into the silvery ball of light that was the professor.

With an angry hiss, Edison realised what Cassandra was doing. She was casting a more advanced form of the divination spell, using the student's workings to amplify her own to finally See the thing that had been eluding her for the last week. He launched himself across the room, straight through the spell she was casting and onto the mage's chest.

The mage collapsed with her cat on top of her, eliciting cries of surprise and alarm from the freshmen. Only one student, whom Edison later identified as Kitty Reed, kept her head, instructing others to go and get help or calm down as she saw fit, exuding such an air of confidence that no one thought to contradict her.

She made no attempt to move the familiar who was by now licking his mistress' face and purring urgently. “You and me are going to have a little chat later, Edison.” Kitty said quietly.

The cat paused for a moment, then nodded regally. This girl clearly had potential. Once Cassandra was better, he would see to it that this student was brought along carefully.
  9. I was meaning the in game announcement that said;

    Quote:
City of Heroes and City of Villains will go down for daily server maintenance. The “downtime” window is 7 hours long but maintenance may or may not take that entire time. We will have the game back up as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!

Still, whether it's 7 hours, 10 hours or more, we'll still get i21 at the end of it!
  10. Well, the servers actually went down at 11.00am, with a projected maintenance window of 7 hours. Of course, we'll have to wait and see, but it is possible that things might be working in time for GG (Hmm, we're going to have to pick a new acronym!).

As for impact time, late morning/early afternoon might be the best thing to go with imo.
  11. Personally I'm inclined to go with a general rule that says "If it's happening on the live servers (eg the live events, destruction of Galaxy etc) then it's a cannon event that's happening for everyone. If it's something that only happens in TFs (destruction of Kings Row etc), then it isn't."

    That's my 2 inf, anyway.
  12. That's what I'm going to have to go with. It's the only thing that stops my suspension of disbelief from running away to go and cry in a corner.
  13. I would agree completely if it wasn't for this.
  14. Street Justice... WANT!

I have one possible toon lined up for that, maybe one or two more. Either way, I'm definitely looking forward to Freedom and the return of a certain black cat.
  15. /e rocks in a corner, muttering, "Must not point out that newspaper clipping. Must not point out that newspaper clipping. Must not..."
  16. I've definitely noticed it. GG regualrs seem to be in a bit of a "not going to start plot 'cause I don't know when it's all going BOOM!" mode.

In fact, plot that is currently running is in direct response to the above in an effort to not just leave everything on hold until the meteors hit.

One thing I have to ask, is why has the trajectory of the meteors not been plotted and noticed? It's something scientists are more than capable of doing months in advance, and in a world of super powered people surely something would be getting done about it?

((Yes I know it's because of Plot™, but I still had to ask ))
  17. Personally I've tried using the shourtcut and launching directly from the file with no joy. I can't do anything about it from the task manager because it doesn't even get that far!
  18. I've found that it's possible to bypass the launcher and go straight into the game, but that'll only work until there's a patch.
  19. I've suddenly had the same problem. Either nothing happens at all, or if I go into it and select Run as Administrator (I thought that might be part of the problem), it comes up saying Access is denied.

    Any thoughts?
