Thanks for having me Hank and Shad. :-D
And, thanks for the welcoming words Ech, r0x, and SmokeSignal. I'm having a blast so far! -

Because it's for people who want to transfer to a PvP server, not for those who don't want people to transfer to a server.
Being a server with alot of PvP'ers will have no effect on you anyways. Unless that is, you're one of the idiots who feel they should be able to run in RV and farm all they want. I didn't know that the heavies had "PL/Farming Machine" in their description.

Honestly, you putting a poll up is counterproductive, period. You're going to get interference from the PvE community because some of them hate you.
Likewise, you fill PvE threads on content with how you hate that there is more PvE stuff when PvP is broken. Same rules apply- you can't silence someone who is allowed to have a voice in the boards.
If you want a true answer to where you should move when transfers are available, you should probably set up a private website and invite as many parties involved and participate in a debate (and subsequent vote of all the constituents) and then announce your official decision on the boards so people can do what they need to do to be happy.
Those who PvP and want the challenge will follow FoL, OS, Velocity, and the rest of the PvP fanatics. If they want great PvP, it's going to be where those groups are at. They eat, drink, sleep, and breathe PvP. If you want it, they are there.
Likewise, if someone wants to avoid you like the plague, they will look at your choice and avoid that server or move from that server.
You are a tight nit community with a real enthusiasm for PvP. Act on it outside of the boards and make a legitimate decision that will be appeasing to your group as a whole. Take the PvE side out of it.
You shouldn't be upset for taking part in something they are able to take part in.
Make your decision within your community offsite by invitation only and bring it back to the boards with your agreed upon results.
Good luck, and I hope the server transfers to congregate on a single server brings you much happiness. -
Better idea: one time click powers.
1. Recovery Aura
2. Regeneration Aura
3. Deflection Shield (for yourself)
4. Fortitude (for yourself)
5. Adrenalin Boost (for yourself)
6. Speed Boost (for yourself)
7. sonic bubbles (for yourself)
Make the empowerment buffs as if a defender was kind enough to give you a little hug before your next fight. Click it once, 90 seconds of Adrenaline boost or 4 minutes of a bubble, have at it.
Hell, even if you gave them 2/3 of what a defender gives, it would be a nice little over the top.
Please give us something worthwhile to spend our salvage on for once. -
Hi. I just started a FF toon. I was wondering if any of the FF gurus knew of binds where you could the keypad to select players and give both Deflection and Insulation shields.
Do I have to target through the number keypad and bind each power to a unique letter?
Ideally, I'd love to target player 1, give deflection shield, insulation shield...
player 2, def shield, ins shield
player 3, def shield, ins shield...
and so on.
Thanks for any help that you give me! -
Don't spam your heal aura. Just keep on task to hit it. Healing aura is the 'heartbeat' of your team. For example, if you begin the power zapp right before your healing aura comes up, your healing aura will delay.
I wouldn't hit blasters with AB. They are so squishy that AB won't regen them if they take aggro. It's best if you hit scrappers and tankers. Make sure you give an ice tanker some love with AB and fortitude.
Again, don't give fortitude to controllers. BAD EMPATH. Give it to the hand to hand fighters first, the ones that worry about taking the alpha strike. A good controller should stand next to you so that he's in your healing aura radius. If he isn't, it's his fault. If a blaster isn't in the process of drawing all the aggro to you, you can give him fortitude as a reward, if you wish. Fort makes ice tankers and SR scrappers gods. If you hit them, most of the time you can ignore them and protect the blasters and controllers (and debuffing defenders) who generate too much aggro.
Clear Mind- he forgot one thing. Apply liberally while in PvP zones. It gives bonuses to perception for those pesky stalkers.
Absorb Pain is dumb. Skip it. If you have leadership, cook off vengeance if someone falls. You'll give the team much better chances if you're up healing, buffing, and having assault and tactics running. Vengeance's defense buff is outstanding.
If you want to bring someone back from death's door, be a little less of a offender and take the power mastery pool for power buildup and use it to generate super heals like my toon (Zacharias) does. At level 50, Zach has a 900+ pt heal other and a 450+ healing aura. power buildup + heal other > dull pain.
Endurance shouldn't be an issue with empathy if you're not an offender.
If you're an offender who takes empathy, you are useless. If you want to be an offender, take radiation, kinetics, or dark. We'll love you for it. As an empathy defender, your first goal is to make sure that you have buffs for everyone first.
Good guide, though. Made alot of excellent points.
I've found that you can skip regeneration aura if you want another power (like acrobatics, for instance, if you have the leaping pool). Defenders always are notorious to being vulnerable to holds.
Some extra words of wisdom for you:
1. Carry a bandoleer of break frees at higher levels. You need to keep your leadership buffs and empathy buffs going. Bring at least 6 before entering a mission. (unless you have a sonic or another empathy defender with you)
2. Bring the Zacharias self rez special. One rez, one break free, 3 greens, 3 blues (in that order). If you drop, you can be back up and helping the party immediately.
3. With the exception of Nemesis, the safest place to be is behind a taunting tanker. If the tanker taunts, he is your first priority. He is also your exit strategy if the fight turns ugly.
When you are an empathy defender, remember that your job is to turn the tide of a fight, not win it yourself.
Happy hunting everyone. Hope you have lots of fun.

I'm going to give a few suggestions for I8, since I've been horribly disappointed with I6 and now I7 for heroes.
1. Create a series of 4-5 level 50 taskforces. As a reward, allow the character to get other AT powers (actually at their level). For example:
Completion of first task force gives the level 50 empathy defender the choice of the a moderate blaster power, such as fire blast at blaster level damage (instead of the incredibly small defender secondary damage). Or, a tanker could grab something like Gambler's Cut at scrapper damage with critical hits to suppliment and build his character past level 50 (without going into the formalities of creating more levels).
You can make the character choose from a choice of 1 hand attack, 1 hold/immobilize, 1 buff/debuff, 1 ranged attack, and 1 defense power. Give them the full bonus from the archtype so that they can feel empowered and truly epic.
I don't think something that small would unbalance the game. It would just add an element of usefulness.
2. Create more SG trials and taskforces that you can bring alot of people to. For example, you could set a level 20, 30, 40, and 50 trail/tf. This would give a SG an attempt to get mass teams going to get xp and reach a common goal. Such as a 50 hour game play temporary buff of 25% reduced debt, +5% xp bonus for kills, or something of that ilk. The SG could get a badge and unlock some higher level defenses, control boosts, or an extra storage bin for enhancements and inspirations. You could possibly add things like increased perception devices (for those pesky stalkers) that give defenders an advantage in raids.
3. Give us a story for reaching level 50. As mentioned above with the above 50 taskforces/trials, we could unlock those to face 4-5 centers of unspeakable evil. Upon conquering them, we have save Paragon City from other doom and are able to live the life of a legend. You could show a picture with Statesman and all of the grand heroes (such as Positron, Manticore, etc.) and receive the exhauted one badge, for saving Paragon from utter doom. It would be a nice way to wrap up the game other than traditional badge hunts.
4. Mayhem missions for heroes. Let us go in and bust up a Superidyne lab. Or, let us break up a Malta arms making factory. Or, we can break up the Circle building a greater portal to summon demons. Let us have some fun and chaos as well.
5. Give us origin specific contacts with origin specific missions. Give us something totally unique with origins. For example, we could have origin specific temporary powers or gives xp bonuses on missions. Or, you could also give a specific origin bonuses against enemies of that origin to sweeten the pot to take your own contacts and carry out missions until completion.
Those are my huble suggestions. Heroes need some content. Thank you for listening. -
One, you don't NEED a controller. We had an illusion controller who didn't hold at all, we destroyed the Cairns and laid waste to everything in the entire cave.
About, the inv/ss tank that someone posted- not true. We played with an ice tank and did just fine.
The key:
Have 4 people focus on the wall while 4 focus on the DE around.
Our team:
Ice tank
1 illusion controller
2 blasters
1 emp defender
1 rad defender
2 scrappers
That was our team and we finished the entire bloody trial in less than 2 1/2 hours. Our team did ok because my emp kept all the squishies with cm the entire time basically.
We had 3 deaths, only froum our own stupidity/boredom. MoG ran out and 2 squishies left the team and got thwarted by mobs.
If you know your role on a team and do it well, you can defeat anything. Most of our team was Forgotten Legion, that's why we rocked.
Helpful things to have:
1. If you are subject to sleep/holds, you should have a bandoleer of breakfrees
2. Group Invis helps for when you're going down the shafts and trying to regroup.
3. If someone has recall friend, things can go a little quicker.
Have fun, everyone is right that this is one of the best trials/taskforces in the game. Enjoy it. If you haven't done it, you must experience it at least once.
