In-game tells, and forum PM's?

I'm just really excited about this character and want to get working on a VV page. Which is odd since I won't be able to actually even play the character for a good many months.
Haven't encountered the situation yet but I've always figured if I did, I would use the Move button up top to move the old page to a sub-page of whoever made it according to the page History, to be courteous (technically you don't really have to, if they want to salvage their work to recreate the character under another name sometime their version will still be in the page history). In this example, move the current Ruby Rocket to User:CptHooks/Ruby Rocket, then go back to the Ruby Rocket page which is now just a redirect and edit it for your character.

It's always most polite to attempt to contact the user first, though, to give them the opportunity to move or delete it themself.
  3. I've been dinking around with a bunch of webstuff the last couple weeks with an eye towards building my own sites and moving the groups I lead off GuildPortal, but I'm way out of my depth yet. So, I decided to give a very simple idea I had a try to get started, and it appears to...well, work. So here's a little Christmas present for the wiki.

Meet uhvu.org. All it does is redirect every page request it gets to the article of the same name at Virtueverse, transforming the "uhvu.org/" part of any link using it into "www.virtueverse.com/index.php/". So anyone can just punch in uhvu.org/YourPageHere and it'll shoot them right to it.

    Examples (and pluggery):
uhvu.org (takes you to the Main Page)
    uhvu.org/Androgyne
    uhvu.org/Choppin' Broccoli
    uhvu.org/User:AlwaysAPrice
    uhvu.org/Xaia

Etcetera. Like a ghetto tinyurl just for us to save a bit of space in bios and sigs, or when linking someone to your page in-game, without the hassle of setting up an actual tinyurl for each page you've got. Hope it comes in handy.
  4. Fixed, there were stray periods in some of the reference closing tags so large sections of the page were getting ignored, since the wiki just rolled everything after those into the reference until it encountered the next reference's closer.

    d-bags

Hardly. It's a pretty common mistake, they were just 'bags with no class. They could've let their character play it off as if their own renown meant their name was getting around. Or ignored it altogether and carried on with the conversation and perhaps later introduced themselves formally. Or politely pointed out your mistake OOC or in a tell so you could keep it in mind in future. Right click them, Player Note, one-star them in case you run into them on other characters later, and wander off in search of non-tools.
  6. Hey Pious and the rest of the Unionverse, passing on an update from the Virtueverse admin about the current site outage: it is being worked on. According to Kadekawa it's going to be a couple days to repair whatever it is that broke, all the sites at virtueverse.com should be back up and running by the weekend. If they get any details from the tech guys on what exactly happened, I'll pass that along as well.
  7. More info to come when it's had on what broke, but it looks like whatever went wrong is going to take a couple days to fix, the goal is to have the site back up by the weekend.
  8. Sent an e-mail to admin, will pass along what's up soon as I hear back, if someone in the know doesn't pop in here first.

EDIT: No ETA on a fix yet but the problem is being worked on, waiting on the host for a server reboot now.
  9. Oh hey, I checked the forums early enough for once.

Arc 4077: Attack of the Space Gremlins!
  10. Can shoot a PM to admin at http://www.virtueverse.com/forum/, or e-mail at virtueverse@gmail.com.

The parallel beta-site idea sounds about exactly like what the plan was, don't know what complications may have arisen in getting it set up. The current wiki isn't going anywhere. Always a good idea to back up your wikis as .txt files though, only takes a second (and there's also Ouroportal out there).
  11. I made a pass through my UHVU userpage a few days back and sorted my character list from Heroes/Villains to Heroes/Vigilantes/Rogues/Villains just for the hell of it. Figure it'll give me a checklist to work through once it arrives.

My dark/ice 'fender the Cloak of Night will be getting a reroll, I've wanted her to be dark/pistols since well before they were confirmed. I'm a little cheesed off though, a friend spotted someone running around using CIoak of Night (i instead of L) and I'd planned to rename the current one to that.

My first priority though is going to be to work my main the Androgyne's Corruptor build through Rogue to Hero and back to Vigilante, as well as to Vigilante the Defender and Blaster builds I have for the character. I've also got a Bots/FF at the moment I created with the intent to turn him hero after a while.
  12. Well, the person who runs the shindig hasn't said much since mentioning looking at a possible "reboot" for the site, to get it working with a new version of MediaWiki with more features and flexibility, since there were difficulties applying such an upgrade to the current site (apparently it wouldn't be possible to auto-port over all existing content when upgrading from the current version). Haven't seen any word on that for a couple months now tho'.

Sysops are still around, tidying up and stabbinating spambots as needed, if there's any questions or help needed. Nothing's been changed on the front page mainly because there's nothing new going on, the site's pretty low maintenance and there's not really anything in the way of cool new **** that can be added until the wiki software gets upgraded.
  13. It was up for a few hours but looks like it just went down again.

  15. Received this yesterday and figured this'd be the place to show it off. Might be a little NSFW, I don't think it's that racy but let's play it safe. :P Artist is my SG-mate and dear friend AngerBunny, who's looking to delve more seriously into doing paid commissions. I gave him I think a pretty challenging concept to work with and he came through in a big way.

So here's a glimpse of a new PSA campaign appearing on billboards and bus stops around Paragon City: Remember, vegetables are people too.

While I appreciate the symbolic weight of pushing the button and typing the name and really truly committing the toon to oblivion once the character is no more, I just don't see the point of doing so in this particular game (if I still like playing the associated build, that is). Renames, respecs, recostuming, recoloring and the Science Pack mean every vestige of the deceased can be scrubbed from the avatar and an entirely new character introduced without throwing away the time spent learning and levelling the build. I could see the process of fully reconcepting a toon being just as satisfying of that desire to mark the occasion with ritual as hitting the big red button.
  17. I'm pretty attached to most of my creations, but I could see myself doing it for the sake of a particularly epic story, or if I really felt I'd exhausted a character's potential. It's not something I'd undertake lightly and, despite the genre, I wouldn't want to leave myself a "comic book death" window if I did. It would have to be permanent unless it was a faked death angle from the start.

I don't think I've ever killed off a character (except once with a lowbie alt, who blew her brains out rather than be subjected to more of my friend's rhyming assassin demon thing, when I realized I was never going to enjoy an SoA anyway). I'm more likely to just subject my characters to horrible life-altering trauma to put over the storyline that leads to it, then later use the opportunity to explore new dimensions of the character through the change of circumstance.
  18. Rerolled my shark Mace/Will Brute, the Great White Hype, into a Claws/SR, kept the toggle auras and made them red for no particular reason. Also finally gave up on my grav/thorn, Die, and decided to give her a second go as an earth/thorns because I could not resist a metallic coloring of the Crystal theme with Metal Spikes.

Also on a completely bizarre whim I ended up taking a concept I'd had for an elec/dark Corruptor and turning it into a Bots/FF; bizarre because I effin' LOATHE teaming with bots. But I played the first few level with my headphones off, liked the orangey-blue I gave his FF, and I'm wondering if I might not have a good time with it.

I was excited at first about rad/ blasters but it's an AT I just don't really click with; I'm satisfied with the carnage I can produce with the Corruptor & Defender it would have just been an alt build for anyway. I'll probably give it a go sometime in a fit of restless altitis, but it's no longer a priority.

Not too much about the other new sets really has me intrigued, with the possible exception of a Traps/Dark Defender -- now I'm just patiently awaiting my dark/pistols.
  19. Amazing event, 60 was just absurd though also, considering the turnout and excellent coordination, inevitable. Going to come back and edit in some screenshots nabbed over both nights later.

    EDIT:

    Sharkhead
    PEW PEW PEW PEW

    Boom

    Skyway
Don't know her but she just happened to fly behind me right in time to block the shot:
    You're in the way!

People in the AE don't know what they're missing

    Breaking apart

    Kablooey

    Talos
This was good for a laugh: when the first call went out for Skyway, nearly the entire raid crammed into a single monorail car
    All aboard!

    By the hospital

This is about as far into the zone as the first wave got.
    That far

Aww. I hadn't heard about that one.
  21. Let the carnage begin.

Edit: Well, crap. Crashed zoning to Sharkhead.
  22. I have been dying to down dropships with my main villain since I10 launched, but I'm usually working that time on Fridays. Still, depending on what sort of schedule shuffling I can arrange, I may at least make it as a participant Friday night on Ani Hess (rad/dark Corr).

Saturday poses no problem, I'm up to lead a team as Androgyne (dark/rad Def). @AlwaysAPrice for any coordination/confirmation stuff.
