We know it's a highly requested feature, and, as such, we're interested in supporting it. I'm not sure where it is in the pipeline, but I know it's on a list somewhere.

I understand what you're saying Snow, however there is a difference, mechanically, between pen and paper RPG's and an MMORPG, mostly because of development restrictions. Don't get me wrong, I love pen and paper, however the same principals that apply there cannot apply to MMORPG story telling. Not in the same way.
Also, Protean is an amazing DM, and has never railroaded us once on our campaign. :P -
Quote:Rularuu is still around...OK sure I can agree with that but guys with rocks? really?!?!!?? come on.
What the hell happened to Rullaru???? and why aint I fighting him, instead I'm left to duke it out with the running joke called Preatoria.
Just check out the SSA's...
Also, keep in mind, we've basically said that we're tying a bow on the Praetorian content. The showdown with Tyrant is coming. You can count on it.
Which leaves the question...where do we go from there? -
Quote:Personally, I view it more of, you have to learn to walk before you can run.The way the Incarnate storyline is being written, it comes across as being afraid to put us over and show us as being powerful, as if to budget its empowerment storytelling....
Part of the reality of the Well is that those who are imbued by it tend to be those who pursue it's power. You're being granted it in doses...working your way up to the same power as a figure such as Statesman (in story terms). You're not quite there yet, but you're working on it, lest you end up like Recluse or *shudder* Cole.
Awesome (demi)godlike power is not necessarily something you just wake up one morning and have completely harnessed. -
Quote:My interpretation of the point being expressed by those in this thread is that you believe that being defeated by citizens throwing rocks isn't representative of your Incarnate status, from a story standpoint. I get it, and understand your viewpoint.Zwill, I need you to understand that you completely failed to address the fundamental complaint I'm making here: Nobody is saying they don't want a challenge, nobody is claiming the trial is too tough. (And if they are, I definitely am not.) As regular readers of my posts will know, I love challenging content. It's something Sam and I have had a few spats about so I know he'll back me up. I'm the guy that's tried to get to 50 without ever being defeated and trying to trio everything - with a fair degree of success with the latter (not so much with the first.) I completely get that initially new content presents a challenge. People said that about the ITF and the LGTF and STF and and and... But nothing I've seen in the game is impossible. That is not my complaint.
I steered the commentary in that direction during Ustream, and made some comments to explain our story driven reason behind that (telepaths weakening you and whipping ordinary citizens into a mentally induced rage). If that didn't come across, then I apologize.
We have a reason that the story is told in whatever way it is. Whether it's due to a nuance of the actual story or because of limitations imposed by mechanics (it could be either or in this particular case, I honestly don't know), we wanted there to be the chance that you could be brought low by a guy throwing a rock. I'm not a story designer, so I'm not going to pretend to know why TPN was written in the way it was, but I know the way that Positron, Protean, Baryonyx, Viridian and Dr. Aeon work: Deliberately and with purpose.
I'm not asking you to agree with our story telling decisions 100% of the time. I am asking you to discuss the story for it's merit.
Also, if every single fight was against Galactus, it would get a little boring after awhile . -
We host one of these a month, each one requiring time from one or more developers and the Community team. For us to host these on each and every server would require a not insignificant investment of time that isn't realistic, both from a Community team standpoint or from a developers time spent.
I understand and appreciate that you want to include everyone, and we're making strides to include premium and free players in more ways, as you can see by the improved forum access, however we're going to continue to offer exclusive events and perks for our VIP players.
FYI: The reason this month was moved from Exalted to Virtue was to accommodate a player event. Next months will either move back to Exalted, or will be held on a different server. -

Quote:When relaying the words of others, things can happen, including hyperbole, exaggeration or misinterpretation (whether through over excitement, misremembering or lack of context). I see things I supposedly said all the time. 99% of the time, it's clear that there's no malicious intent, and it's simple enough for me to step in and clarify. FWIW, I don't believe that the OP meant anything by it.This is one of the main reasons I prefer direct word from a redname rather than someone else reporting what they said.
I'm not sure how mid-to-late January could ever be misinterpreted to be "right after the New Year" by a normal person.
Of course, I'm used to people on the forums putting their own skewed interpretations onto what other people say.
Also, I am human, and make mistakes sometimes. So it's entirely possible I said something that was interpreted that way.

Quote:No, however we have been mocked for what is considered cold here in the Bay Area.Have the Icelandic employees taught everyone how to pronoucne Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that disrupted air travel all over Europe in 2010. Most American newscasters didn't even try to say it and just referred to it as "That Icelandic Volcano."
Entirely deserved IMO. -
I hear you, and I shared some of your sentiment, however I'd like to posit a challenge to you:
Try to think of this as a progression of the story line in an ever changing world. What happens if the BP managed to awaken the sleeper? What would the COT do if the failed in stopping them?
There's lots of questions we could answer, including some nagging ones about a certain letter writer, when viewed through the lens of a continuation of the story.
Call it an exercise in creativity. I understand your viewpoint, and at the same time believe that there's all sorts of possibilities to explore. -

Quote:I'm not the story designer here, eventually you'll start hearing from Aeon, Protean and crew about that, however there is *plenty* of story coming your way in the new DA experience. And, again - booo to that decision.
I wouldn't mind it if it were part of the "tiered" Dark Astoria suggested before - going to the spirit realm as a 50 incarnate to deal with mot, after dealing with current, lower level threats in the 20s, and getting deeper into it in the 30s, say, in the current zone... which would make that "incarnate" content more meaningful and part of an overall, interesting progression of a sort we haven't really seen for a zone.
Instead... this. Meh. AFAIC, we've basically lost another zone, one that had a lot of backstory (and current-story) potential.
Please keep in mind the stated goal for this zone: A solo/smaller group Incarnate path for those who do not like the Trials.
Also, we're not working on this zone to the exclusion of lower level content. There's still plenty of that in the works. -
Not to poke the bear, but keep in mind that the new Dark Astoria content will be VIP exclusive.
-
Pretty sure that mid to late January still stands...
I didn't say *right after* the new year...maybe shortly after. -
I believe TonyV has been doing some work on it since their server issues last month.

So in talking with Synapse this morning, it wasn't new tech, but it was new mechanics.
Mea Culpa.
Either way...I'm having Korean BBQ for lunch. -
