  1. Yet again Virtue reminded me why i'm so happy to call it home. The RP Leagues that were set up really made the event that little bit more awesome. Kudos to you Virtue.

    Anyone get any screenies?

  3. Yeah this has happened for everyone. The log-in client just went down.

    "Oh, no! I see that he has Hasten on! That changes... EVERYTHING!!!!"

    So, Posi, this "Really?!" goes out to you:

    You think that being able to see which powers are being used by a player foe has a significant effect on PvP? Really?!

    Really?! Even after Diminishing Returns, it's important to know how much recharge another foe has, even though there can be up to another 100% recharge working invisibly in the background from IO Set buffs? Really?!

    You think there's someone out there, who, if they could hide the fact that they have Hasten on, they would be overpowered in PvP... Really?!

    <heavy sigh>

    This tirade brought to you by how long it's taking to enable Power Pool customization and the inability to even say it's coming.
    Whoah. Me and ZM agree on something.

    The devs don't understand PVP.

    Welcome to City of Heroes.
  8. I just get the feeling that the devs don't care about the game. It's all about the new shiny.

  9. The devs simply don't care about QoL fixes. Now that CoH has gone F2P, anything that does not make PS $$$ is not going to be of interest to them. Customer retention is not the name of the game anymore, given that we are moving to a "pay as you go" model.

    All of this will not be implemented or fixed. Despite the fact I would quite happily PAY for this instead of shiny armour/stupid emotes/gimmick powersets:

    -Customizable Power Pools.
    -Customizable Epic & Ancillary Power Pools.
    -The myriad of bugs still in PVP.
    -The myriad of numerical errors in power values in PVP.
    -HD & TS existing as defaults in PVP zones.
    -Base raiding.
    -Base building community's requests for simple to implement things.
    -Base building bugs.
    -MA rating system
    -MA full of old/unfinished/out of date farm missions.
    -MA word filter.

    Leaving piles of crap in game, while distracting people with the new shiny stuff, is the completely wrong direction for a MMORPG. Why? Because we REPLAY CONTENT OVER AND OVER.

    QoL > Everything.

    Nice to see dev hatred of PVP has illegitimately spilled out into other QOL features.

    I hate the glowy bits of hasten in PVE.

    I hate how massive groups of heroes are always murky, invisible, covered in ice, covered in fire, and your costume is severely hidden.

    The CoH power affects should be opt-in. Right now CoH combat looks awful.

    Disclaimer: I wasn't the spammer in the ustream.
  11. Was just wondering if there had been any mention of the devs allowing the option to customize epic power pools and ancillary power pools? I know a lot of the models are duplicates of things we are already able to customize. (Such as Hibernate, Personal Force Field, Seismic Smash, etc.) So I was hoping to see an option to change how they look.

    Given that power customization was implemented OVER A YEAR AGO, I'm a little shocked this hasn't yet happened. I'm sure it's difficult...but in that time we've seen entire powersets released. That has got to be more difficult.

    If it's a matter of money, I wouldn't be averse to paying for it.

    Any news on this? I haven't seen it mentioned on any of the Ustreams.
  12. Ah good shout on the Hamidon. Soloing that bad boy was one of my main goals. I'm sure I can make the Earth epic look like Ice if they ever give us the option to customize them. (Seriously why haven't they done this yet?)

    LMAO @ the guy telling you how to play your character. Low levels are such a doss you don't really need to worry about strategy. He sounds like the sort that barks orders in a BAF...you know...the things everyone runs on auto pilot.
  13. Whoah thanks for the advice amigo! I'm familiar with HE, but didn't know about the pets/stacking/etc. It really is an amazing power.

    What made you switch to earth mastery? Was it because Rock Armour gives more def?

    I'm tempted to go with this cause I'm not a fan of the Rock Armour aesthetic:

    These changes will set it back some hours, but is that honestly a lot considering the frequency you roll new toons at? Every once in so many months for me... I think I can spare a few more hours.
    As for farming for tickets... it'll be less noticable than in PLing even.
    Not bothered.
    PLing & pure influence farming in AE will be 20% slower. (Each kill pre-patch valued at 80% due to rez'd enemies spawning at 60% HP.) That's not even considering zoning/reset times. I'd estimate PLing would take about an hour longer to 50. It isn't really significant and, in my opinion, not something that developer time should have been spent on. (Especially in lieu of numbers-based base bugs/pvp bugs/MA bugs that are still prevalent in this game.)

    This means that more tickets are being generated. Inf-lation might take a hit (less money being generated raw in the AE & more products on the market) But I doubt it'll be a noticeable drop. So much influence is created daily after all. Rare salvage might drop again like it did for CEBR. More tickets + slower farming = QUICK BURN THE TICKETS ON SALVAGE.

    So if this "nerf" to farming costs me an hour of my time per insta-50, in exchange for cheaper rare salvage...I'm all for it!
  15. For the last ten years, Xanatos' theme tune has been this. So so much:

    Are you sure? Because the +end from Electric Fence/Tesla Cage & the +rec from Conductive Aura aren't present on an Ice/x.

    How do you know this? Have you spoken to everyone? Or is this just baseless conjecture?

    Maybe no-one is looking because they're not interested in player-written storyarcs.
  18. Reality check for the elitist people in the AE story writing community:

    There is low demand for your stories.

    If farms were removed, more people would not suddenly start playing your stories.

    So chill out on the hate.
  19. Could just mirror Slotting:

    Electric Fence -> Chillblain
    Tesla Cage -> Ice Block
    Gremlins -> Jack Frost
    Static Field -> FlashFreeze
    Synaptic Overload -> Arctic Air

    Only problem would be AA costing a tonne of endurance.
  20. *Necro*

    How would an ice/cold do with a similar build?
  21. "Exploitative"

    "The Spirit of the Game"

    Necessarily vague terms the dev team have to rely on. Because, were they to be specific about what was acceptable, their flawed moral position would be revealed.

    This on the other hand is absolutely nothing compared to that.

    Also - "constantly disproven"?

    I have yet to see ANYONE prove me wrong.

    How does this "balance the game"? It's just a trademark clueless stab in the dark by a dev team more concerned with attempting to nerf farming than fixing game bugs and systems.
