Castle was playing with hit boxes and made a giant mek man. Somehow it leaked to the MA on Test as Mek Man Gigante, and people have been playing with the huge bot. It won't be going to live sadly. However, it does mean Castle has been working on larger enemies, who knows, we may someday get Rularuu the Ravager!

    :awesome:
  2. No worries. Just been noticing a lot of them pop up in this section lately, and finally got around to mentioning it. << Which is entirely my bad.
  3. *Dives for thread!*

    Felicitous annual hatching day, Larissa!

...Phew, not late this time. ._.

May this next year be better then the next, or if the last year was pretty darn good, may it not sink beneath that particular level at it's lowest point.
  4. You guys know you can ask this kinda thing in the FanArt section and probably get a much better rate of response, right? >.>

Not to mention there's an entire thread full of ideas to inspire you (I say inspire, because you should ultimately make a costume your own, rather then just jack someone else's design... unless you're doing a specific request to have something designed, in which case that's probably alright).

    ...Just sayin'.

I can't imagine why the devs wouldn't want to communicate more with us as a community.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? I can think of a few reasons.
  6. I should really go back and make a second copy of that, and actually draw little lines to all the random junk. >> Because it occurs to me you can just barely see the melted candle behind the tab can. It's the squishy orange blob. Not to be confused with the stack of sticky notes infront of the can!

And you can aaalmost make out the nifty diffuser I have, but it's partially off-camera on the right.

<.< I should probably clean my room more often.
  7. Blargh. I hate waking up late.

...I'm not even sure if my alarm clock went off. That's sort of annoying.
  8. Could you two ladies take it to PMs, so at least some of us can be objective? :/ Or subjective, as the case may be.

    Sheesh.

What we have to realize when rationalizing the hiccups in these changes is that:
people won't sit there and calculate - well I'm doing 10% more dps now even when not attacking for 3 second gaps then I was in issue 13. They just won't.
They WILL - spam powers in non-optimized ways until they run out of end at the third spawn and then start [censored] that they are end pigs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In fairness, brute players have been spamming attacks... and running out of end, and [censored] about it, for years.

As far as I can tell, it hasn't stopped them from playing brutes.

It's amazing how well you can put up with endurance issues if you hide them under a large enough pile of bodies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Finally someone says it, putting this on the sig too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Adding in: My newer doms do about as well as on Test as my newer brutes do on Live. For equivilant endurance drain. The major difference I've noticed is that after 12, I don't have to hit Rest near as often on my Dom as I do on my Brutes, for roughly the same (not the exact same, of course) level of safety and slightly lower overall damage (Brute finishes in about the same time as the Dominator, but that's because I'm waiting for Endurance far more often).

It's an interesting comparison to make. There's a few things they can do to improve it, but overall... Not that bad. I call it passable, and a positive change over the current system (where on Live it takes about half again as long for me to complete missions, and at half the safety; The longer you're in a fight, the higher your risk of taking damage is, and the higher the risk of a control missing. New domination also means I can save it for the emergencies where I actually need it, instead of risking having it burned out by then).

I give it a B+, subject to further testing to verify results as time permits. Not brilliant, but a bit better then I actually expected it to be. Current Dominator grade on Live is a C.
  10. Fer the lovea Pete, I'm always late to these for some reason. x.x

Belated felicitous annual hatching day, Gray Huntress, and I hope that it was a good day, and that the next year's better then the last! :3

Or they resort to using the hold/immob from their primary, which is generally not very end efficient even assuming they slotted it for damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, I always used my mezzes as attacks on my Mind/Psi. I never had an adequate attack chain from Psi assault. I still don't, but that means that, overkill aside, I pretty much broke even.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mind's a freak, I don't care what AT you are. Mesmerize, Levitate, and Dominate are all very good, solid attacks, let alone mezzes (or a KU in Levitate's case). They just happen to be able to do that job adequately, as well. It's a very solid, early-blooming set that just gets better as you go along unless you had your heart set on getting a reliable pet (in that you can rely on the exact powers it has and the duration you have it; Confuse/Mass Confuse are really awesome at letting you effectively steal whatever pet you want).

The fact that it got boosted with these changes as well for Dominators is just going to exaggerate the fact it's probably one of the better designed control sets out there. :/
  12. I've been specifically testing out low-level/poorly slotted builds on Test, and haven't come across any issues yet that I didn't already have on Live (Ice Control hates me), and actually have been noticing an increase in performance for some sets (Plant/Thorn, Mind/Ice). At least insofar as Endurance goes.

Recharge, it does actually mess up a few things at low levels, but I didn't find it that big of a problem. Then again, with my predisposition towards creating alts and trying out a lot of sets, I guess I could just be adapting faster to it then I should be.

It's actually a lot better then starting out a lowbie controller, because I actually do get decent damage from both controlling and my secondary. Mostly the secondary.

Very close to low-level blasters for me, but a bit safer, as far as recharge goes. I'd play a Plant/Psi dominator over an Ice/Ice blaster. :/

EDIT: Heck, I'd resurrect my Earth/Psi, too.
  13. Finally got a shot. Taken by my crappy camera phone.

In the shot is my brick-case, and sitting on the brick is my pill-minder (for my allergies), my USB wireless device (on an external HD), the fan to keep said device from overheating, and my remote collection. And some random detrimus that, as the picture shows, kind of prevails in my room.

Left of that is my (free) LCD monitor, a barely-visible CD case with my DS perched atop it (and my EVE pirate schedule), my usual arrangement of coffee and juice, tissues (allergies), my utility rack (I don't even KNOW what's on that thing anymore), the most durable calculator I've ever had (a Casio fx-115W that I've had since my Freshman year of high school), with my keyboard under the desk.

Right is my LCD TV, my incense/diffuser kit (matches, spare sticks/cones), a candle that I keep as a testament to how hot my room gets (It wasn't that deformed before the summer), a thoroughly crushed can of Tab, some peanuts (I forget to eat sometimes and need emergency rations), an empty Gatorade, and two ancient Mike's Hard Lemonades that I've had for over a year and really just sort of forgot about. Plus my defunct VCR and my cablebox.

The brick, one of my friends helped me build... in that he helped recommend parts (that I've long since forgotten what I've put into it), and is the first machine I've ever constructed from the ground up myself. I'll have to see if I can't dig up my specs at some point.

Ironically, that's only half of my desk, too. The other half is off-camera, and includes a lot of other random crap (including a desk-fan to help mitigate the heat levels in my room), my ASVAB study tools, and all of the clothes that I keep meaning to actually sew things back onto but keep forgetting.
  14. I feel sort of lucky.

I only had my client implode four times trying to get the patch downloaded and my test-client updated, and it only took me two hours, tops. >_>

New changes are up now. Not sure if they are for Psi Assault yet, but it was working fine when I checked it a bit ago. >> Incase anyone missed it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The ONLY part of the /Psi changes that should not be up is the changing of those two attacks listed from using the Ranged Damage mod, to the Melee damage mod.

    Forgot that part, but yes.

    3 Cor, 1 MM

Why wouldn't you, on a Superteam build?

Infact, you'd be a little silly to not be running all three Leaderships at some point. An SoA (I say just one, because really, that's about all you'd realistically need) would probably be a good choice for a 4th over a Mastermind, with special consideration going towards the higher buff values of the Wolf/Bane/Crab line. Which doesn't really matter, as with the rest of the group will likely be able to shore up it's defense and resistances, and the only reason it's really there is for the double-Leadership toggles and the higher values in the Primary version.

But, if we're going with 3 Corrupters and an MM as the OP suggests, that's kind of a side point anyway and sort of against the discussion a little. The specific reason to avoid more then one SoA is the fact with 3 Corrupters/1 SoA (or MM) is you get to spread damage out across the board, and can choose to specifically focus on those sets (Ice and Fire) that have the least overall mob resistances to maximize potential. SoAs, while having a higher damage modifier, also are plagued with having some fairly commonly resisted (or highly resisted uncommon) damage types (Smashing, Lethal, Toxic, Psi) that can negatively affect the total damage output. Crab Spiders (and to a lesser extent Banes) get around this by also having Energy, but frequently only as a damage component.*

Honestly? I'd probably go with a Necro/Storm if I had to choose a specific Mastermind to go with the three corrupters, because it's got a ton of survivability that it can leverage, while also applying -Resistance/Defense and also creating a zone to really reduce the chances anything more then Ranged or AoE defense will really matter (though soft-capping the defenses sort of already does that). Or, possibly, Necro/Dark for something that the group really does lack, and that's a Wipe-Reset button for those rare occasions that someone may get hit hard before anyone can actually do anything, or because the entire group is Mez'd and can't do anything about it in the first place (hideously rare with a */Sonic Corrupter on board, though, as the only thing that should matter then is Sleeps). It may not happen often, but those situations can be really annoying to deal with in the long run.

*DISCLAIMER: Not intending to disparage the synergy of all-VEAT teams, because they're outright brtual, but pointing out the damage issue in a min-max situation is at least somewhat noteworthy. Though I doubt it will really matter all that much in the long run.

(This post is a rambling thought string.)

Well I'm going to eat a big helping of crow. The changes to PSW were much, much less severe than I thought they'd be. I'm not nearly as annoyed as I was at first, and I'm glad I took a time out to wait and see what would happen.

Not 100% thrilled, but not earth shatteringly disappointed either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

S'generally why I try to curb my feelings on subjects until I get to pick them apart. Granted, I'm sort of underwhelmed at the net changes myself, but I went in with somewhat reserved caution so I don't feel as bad.

Though I'm glad things weren't as bad as you feared. That's always a good thing to hear.

My favorite drink USED to be Fruitopia. I used to guzzle that stuff by the gallon... but I haven't seen a single bottle anywhere for over 5 years now.

Now if only they'd look over the things that resist (or have defense against) psi to make the late game more enjoyable.

Honestly, if they just made Malta Turrets and bank doors less psi resistant, I'd be thrilled. There's nothing quite so fun as being beaten by a pet-class mob because it has 90% resistance to your only real damage type; or spending four minutes plinking a bank vault to death.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Werd to that. :/

Though, from most reports on the matter, Toxic isn't in any better of a situation for similar reasons. Kind of weird, isn't it?
