that would make for a very interestng pvp zone if for nothing else than to give flyers a chance and change up tactics. suddenly -fly isnt nearly as devestating when you don't take that much damage from falling. I normally hate pvp but I would give a moon zone pvp a chance.
I could even see the whole moon zone as a contested zone where heroes and villains have set up bases on the moon so that there are seperate pve areas and a contested zone that would be pvp.
[/ QUOTE ]
I very much doubt we'll see any more PvP zones. At least, not for a year or two. Co-op zones are much more likely. Given that the "Coming Storm" alien invasion is looming... and we all must band together to save the Earth.... well, you see what I mean. -
[ QUOTE ]
But what have the devs said about it. I have heard that they will not do it, but then again this was before the move.
[/ QUOTE ]
Several weeks ago I started a thread asking if, in fact, the Moon Zone was dead in the water.
Nobody could give a definitive answer one way or the other.
But perhaps we should get back to more whining, whining, whining about bases? -
[ QUOTE ]
Another year of the same ol' same ol' it sounds like. Are we ever going to have a purpose to raiding such as IOP's and are the many bugs facing base development ever going to be adressed?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, they are. Positron has already said that with the greatly expanded number of devs there will be specific attention focused on bases in the future.
Lighthouse also specifically said that this thread was about short term goals/changes in the game. Base lovin' is clearly not a short term goal, and therefore it wasn't included in the announcement.
Jesus Christ on a biscuit... they gave us some really cool news and are keeping us in the loop as much as reasonably can be expected. Could we please [censored] and moan MORE as a way to thank them for this??

if you take the time to read what I said, it was levels or Alternative Advancement. IOs are not AA to me, but other games have had AA mechanisms.
This is my opinion so people don't take it as some kind of personal lifestyle attack. I want to see options for character advancement beyond level 50 by some method but not the IOs as they stand today.
[/ QUOTE ]
So?
You sound like the house guest who sits down to dinner and asks where the "food" is. "Oh, well... This stuff you've served up isn't 'good enough' for me. I want food, but not this food! I don't consider what you've put on the table to be food."
So please do enlighten us. What, EXACTLY are you talking about when you mean "alternative advancement?" Be specific. -

The one thing I want to know, now that Statesman is gone, is are there any plans for character advancement (i.e. more levels or Alternate advancement) for level 50 characters?
[/ QUOTE ]
More levels = No.
Alternate advancement = IO sets.
[/ QUOTE ]I don't consider IO sets as AA. It isn't good enough for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Adding carefully considered and selected IO sets makes your character stronger. Making your character stronger = character advancement.
Just because you don't find it "good enough" is irrelevant to the fact that finding, crafting, and slotting IO sets is indeed character advancement.
The level cap isn't going to be raised. Deal with it. -

I don't know about anyone else but this is painfully obvious that the V-Day event will somehow be conected to the Marrige of Manticore and Sister Psyche.
According to a recent interview a wedding date hasn't even been set yet so they're only engaged, not married.
I think it'd be really cool if we got invited to their Wedding and some villain decided to crash the party. (Hero version)
Or We get to crash the wedding and wreck everything. (Villain version)

Well, I was hoping the contents of the announcement would match the title.
Market hype and shinies != State of the Game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because, you know... adding things to the game that the players have been wanting for years has nothing to do with the state of the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it doesn't, that's marketing hype and shinies.
The "state of the game" is "where the game has been and where is the game going" at the meta level.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh? So being able to actually see the numbers related to what your character is doing has nothing to do with the meta level of the game? Tracking character badges has nothing to do with the meta game?
Oh reflection, I suppose it doesn't. After all, when I'm walking around in RL I *always* see these annoying floating rectangles around my head telling me how fast I'm moving in feet per second.

Questions like "will there finally be a new box or downloadable version in '08". Statements like "our plan is to release x new issues in '08". Etc... etc...

Well, you have a point there. I sure wish Lighthouses announcement said something about plans for Valentines Day, or mentioned Issue 12. Or hell, while I'm wishing for pie-in-the-sky, maybe they might say something about leveling rates.

"smooth out the leveling curve" ??? possible hint at upping the max lvl and adding new end game content?? PWEEZ!!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
What was that possible hint? I see nothing to indicate any increased level cap.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because there was nothing there.
I always laugh whenever I see people begging for an increase to the level cap and calling it "end game content."
It's a matter of definition. If the level cap is raised to 60, then nothing you do between level 50 and 60 is end game content. By definition, end game content is all the interesting things you have to do with your character when he's at the cap.
Things like... oh I don't know... (just talking off the top of my head here)... building superhero bases. Engaging in PvP. Gathering badges. Re-doing earlier content through some sort of system that allows for repeatibility. enhancing your character with some sort of hard-to-get enhancements.
Naaah... why in the world would I ever think the devs would give us these things? -

The other side of that is whether or not being restricted in communication options sees legitimate new players stop themselves from subscribing. It may not in most cases, but having a newbie friend send you a /t with their character name so you can communicate with them is a big help in joining friends together. So another side to the equation is whether of not CoH/V is willing to see some new players walk away by restricting how they can communicate in the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I addressed this specifically. When I said the following:
[ QUOTE ]
And as far as impacting legitimate users is concerned, the spam tells and e-mails are already impacting legitimate customers. So the trick is to make the impact of stopping it less than the impact of having it continue.
[/ QUOTE ] -
[ QUOTE ]
You can't build in enough barriers to stop RMT spam that won't end up impacting on legitimate users. The only way to stop RMT spam is to make it uneconomical to offer such services in the first place.
[/ QUOTE ]
And yet these are the very suggestions youre trying to shoot down.
Requiring a paid account in order to send an in-game e-mail means they have to pony up $15 American in order to send out spam. If they do not get at least $15 in business from all the spam e-mails before the account is banned, this makes their service uneconomical.
If they have to be a specific level in order to send out tells and/or e-mails, this means that new spam-bots have to actually be played for a period of time. If the cost of playing the character up to the required level (time = cost) is greater than what they make from the customers created by the spam, this makes their service uneconomical.
And as far as impacting legitimate users is concerned, the spam tells and e-mails are already impacting legitimate customers. So the trick is to make the impact of stopping it less than the impact of having it continue. -

I still have "Earth" and "Wind" but both are being used for my Stoner [Tanker] and Storm 'troller, respectively.

One advice I want to give everyone is 5 tiers is the highest It seems to go with tall shelves. I haven't figured out a way to go more than 5 tiers all around. You can say 5.5 but I dont consider .5 a tier. For calculation purposes, with 5 tiers that leaves you with a 4 ft gap below your lowest stack and a 4 ft gap above the highest. You can also simple make it so no gap on top and an 8 ft gap at the bottom. Bottom gaps is where the floor height becomes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Im confused. If theres an 8-foot gap at the bottom, and the book shelves are 8 feet tall, cant you just put another shelf underneath and have no gap?
Id like to have taller book stacks in my SGs library (part of a telepad room). The floors in the base are almost all uniformly at the lowest level. Id like to keep it this way there too. -
[ QUOTE ]
I want stacking now, yesterday, today and I just can't seem to even make one magic desk!
You can tell me to read the damn tutorial again, I have already done so twice and it still doesn't work at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
When I make magic desks, I've found that my FIRST desk has to be rotated 180 degrees from its default orientation. Then the 2nd desk is also rotated 180 degrees before placing it right up next to the first. Then rotate 360 degrees three times as per the guide. Try it that way and see how it goes. -
All,
Is there some way at all to use floating/magic desks to stack bookshelves? I mean one seemingly directly on top of another, with no gaps and/or overlap? Since the bookshelves are not of a height easily divisible by desk units, it's problemmatic. I've seen a couple pictures like this one that seem to show that it has been done, but I've never been able to make it work for me.
Is this possible? and if so, how is it done? -

Actually the poster wasn't asking for a guarantee at the badge overall. They were stating that burning respecs for powers just to have a chance at getting a badge isn't worth burning up 2 respecs (since it's assumed once they got the badge or the event ended without getting it they'd go back to their old build). The point is there is no guarantee no matter what powers you have that you will get the badges so using up respecs on changing out powers isn't worth it to most people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much what I was getting at, yes. (Sarcasm appears to be a lots art these days, apparently.) Well, what you just said, but mainly I was responding to the person who said "anyone can get CJ and SS" by pointing out how unreasonable his little off-the-cuff statement was.
... and point of order, El Condor, I'll thank you to leave my daughter and my parenting skills out of this discussion. You know nothing about me, sir, and have zero room to make inferences, judgments, or snarky comments in this area. Let's not threadjack this any more than it already has been.
