1. Cool, hopefully see you tonight.
2. Welcome!

I think it's looking like we'll be teaming on Union at this point.
3. There is a certain appeal of unleashing an inferno of Ignite patches...

Sonic is an excellent set as well. Great debuffs, great damage and great control.
4. Thanks for the offer of help. If we meet you in level you're very welcome to lend a hend.

In answer to your first question, here's the listing for Traps powers:

[ QUOTE ]
1: Web Grenade
2: Caltrops
4: Triage Beacon
10: Acid Mortar
16: Force Field Generator
20: Poison Trap
28: Seeker Drones
35: Trip Mine
38: Time Bomb or Detonate

[/ QUOTE ]

In answer to your second question, yeah I am a little worried about the lag too! Personally I was hoping for an even split of Corrs/MMs, four of each. Depending on what UnkownWarrior and Kryten bring to the table, that's still entirely possible. (Personally I'm Corruptor mad so I was a little surprised at the MM-heavy resposne I got )

At the end of the day though I'm not going to ask people to give up their MMs if that's what interests them and what they want to use. It's not exactly fair and difficult to be so arbitrary with folks who've already offered their support to the team.

That said, I suppose I could just say that people who wish to sign up from now on will be given preference over others if they want to use a Corruptor? Does that sound fair?

I'm also a little concerned about a prevailance of Smashing and Lethal damage in the team, though hopefully that will even out later, and the -res debuffs will more than compensate.

Thanks Mike, hopefully we'll see you around. (Nice toon name, by the way!)
5. You're welcome to join us. Unless you want to be malefactored for the whole time I'd recommend rolling up another toon though
6. Great stuff.
<ul type="square">[*]Echo - AR Corr (probably). Preferred Union, M/Th/F/Sa/Su[*]Cognito - Thugs BM! Defiant preferred[*]UnknownWarrior - AR Corr/Merc MM. Union or Defiant, any day[*]Spirit - Robots MM. Union or Defiant, any day[*]Vahiki - Thugs/Robots MM, Union or Defiant, M/W/F[*]Kryten - ??, Union or Defiant, M/F
Just one or two more folks and we'll be able to give this a try!

I just nipped on to Defiant to see if my chosen toon name was already taken there. Thankfully not! So now I have the name "Mea Culpa" reserved on both servers, hehe
7. There's definitely still room for more!

You're welcome to use a MM or a Corruptor, whichever you wish. Do you have a preferred server, and are you available Monday or Friday evenings?
8. Lol! I'll admit I'm more partial to using Monday nights for the same reason as Cognito, but it still depends on other people who want to join and when they are available.

Thanks 1damz, if we can catch you up you're most welcome to join the team.

Vahiki: Tell us a little more about your character concept, then we might be able to help come up with a name.
9. Well weekday evenings tend to be the easiest time. Something like a 7pm start gives people a chance to get home and have dinner first too.

Looking like Monday or Friday nights at the moment.
10. Thanks Spirit!

Re: MarquanDance, it would be cool if you could join us too, but I know you already have Motor Mouth (Sonic/Traps) on Union anyhow... He's lvl 16 now, right? You could use him after the team reaches your level? Though if you want to use him more than just once a week, I totally understand. It does seem to be an alt you're really enjoying.
11. Ooh, thanks for reminding me on both counts!

Can everyone who's interested make a note of any days of the week they definitely can (or cannot) meet in the evening for a couple of hours for the team? Myself, any day is good except Tuesday or Wednesday, when I have other regular commitments.

Also, I looked up the US Trap team but couldn't find the thread! Useless!

EDIT: And I'm too slow to respond too, it seems

<ul type="square">[*]Echo - AR Corr (probably). Preferred Union, M/Th/F/Sa/Su[*]Cognito - Thugs BM! Defiant preferred[*]UnknownWarrior - AR Corr/Merc MM. Union or Defiant, any day[*]Spirit - Robots MM. Union or Defiant, any day[*]Vahiki - Thugs/Robots MM, Union or Defiant, M/W/F
12. A couple of the regulars couldn't make it last week so it was kinda quiet. It would be nice to have attendance higher than 10 one of these days though I can dream!

We'll stick with Test for next Wednesday, usual time of 8pm.

I have a Stalker prepped for this week!
13. Personally, I don't want to deprive folks of options - options keep people interested. Almost every power in Traps is very stackable so I'm sure we'll get a damn fine team regardless of individual power choices.

Also I'd recommend against 'gimping' a character against solo play. You never know when you'll have to miss a week or two and need to spend some time alone to catch up with the team. With Acid Mortar and Tactics, you may be able to slot light on accuracy (1 acc SO) anyhow. I honestly don't know how well it'd work and at the end of the day that's your choice.

Those four traps powers you listed are indeed highly recommended though. And I'd probably add Caltrops on top of that if I was going to be stern about it. Besides in a team of 8 Trappers, what are the chances of less than 6 of them having FFG or Acid Mortar? Seems pretty remote to me, those powers are just golden! So I don't think extra rules will be necessary.

Just as some folks should (and likely will!) take Poison Trap, some should (and again, probably will) probably take Time Bomb/Detonate. Would be real handy for cracking bank vaults if nothing else...

While multiplying complementary powers is kinda the theme behind this team, I've no doubt we could function well without 8 of absolutely everything, so I'm not too worried about it.

If you haven't noticed yet, I'm not much of a min-max enthusiast! (EDIT: Also I can talk at length!! Jeez!)

The list of interested parties so far:
<ul type="square">[*]Echo - AR Corr (probably). Preferred Union, ok with Defiant[*]Cognito - Thugs BM! Defiant preferred, ok with Union[*]UnknownWarrior - AR Corr/Merc MM. Union or Defiant[*]Spirit - Robots MM (unknown server preference)[*]Vahiki - Thugs/Robots MM, Union or Defiant
Hopefully we can get some more Corruptor lovers interested... I think Fire/Ice/Sonic/Dark Blast would all fit in very nicely!
14. FFG is available at lvl 16, Poison Trap is at 20.

I too would recommend everyone gets FFG eventually, but I don't think it would take much to convince a Trap user to take one of their best powers

Likewise with Poison Trap and Leadership, I'm sure half of us would want to get those anyway (especially MMs and Leadership), so I didn't bother with enforcing them as rules. Ditto with Acid Mortar.
15. Cool!

Personally I have a lvl 4 AR/Traps Corruptor on Union at the moment. If we form a team on Union I'll probably use her, but if Defiant is the more popular choice I can easilly remake her. She's only lvl 4 after all!
16. I was just wondering something. Would anyone be interested in joining a Traps-themed villain team that meets up once a week or so?

I'd really like to see how well the Traps set stacks with itself. Multiple Acid Mortars to debuff, followed by multiple FFGs for protection, then eventually many many many Trip Mines for crazy damage.

(Personally I've tried a /Dev blaster before and just hated using Trip Mines solo, because each one takes so long to deploy (FOUR seconds! Who has that kinda time??) - but if everyone on a team is doing the same, deployment time is reduced by a factor of up to eight! That, I think I might be patient enough to wait for! )

Depending on interest and availability, I don't know about starting level or meeting times right now.

However, these things are usually the most fun when everyone starts from level 1 (or near enough), so yes unfortunately this means I'm preferably looking for folks who are willing and able to make a new toon (or have a pre-existing low-level toon). Don't worry, if you've no space on Union perhaps we can all go and invade Defiant instead?

Aside from that, at this stage there're only two rules that I can say are definite:

1. You must be a Corruptor or Mastermind with the /Traps secondary to apply. Any primary is welcome.
2. You must take Trip Mines when you reach level 35, should we get that far. I hope we would!

But before I get ahead of myself here, who would be interested in forming a Trapper team with me?
17. Thanks a lot guys, some food for thought there.

[ QUOTE ]
nvincibility: This one may have got you confused. No tohitbuffs? Well, the reason is pretty simple, it just isnt worth it. You'll only get about 1% acc buff with an enh there. And about 0.8% without one (per enemy that is) so I didnt find it worth to put one there.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well you did confuse me with that one Avenger, but only because your build above DOES contain a ToHitBuff

Your build is quite similar to the defensive one I had in mind.

What are folks opinion on Crippling Axe Kick? I'm thinking of taking it mostly for the slow and -recharge, which would probably be handy versus tougher opponenets.
18. I recently started playing with a MA/Inv Scrapper which I'm enjoying hugely.

I've had only a little experience with either powerset before so I have a few questions. (My toon is intended purely for PvE play.)

1. Right now I'm veering between two kinds of builds. The first takes every Inv power (except maybe Resist Elements and Resist Energies) and Tough and Weave to make a very defensive fighter.

The second ignores the auto-powers in Inv and the Fighting Pool, in favour of more attacks and Hasten - the idea being an improved offense is better than stronger defences, to get fights done faster.

Which of these build philosophies do you think would work better for a MA Scrapper?

2. Is it worth getting Tough and/or Weave at all?

3. What about Resist Elements and Resist Energies?

4. What about Hasten? This is my first Scrapper and while most of my toons end up with Hasten eventually, MA seems to recharge fast enough on its own.
19. No worries. It was a quiet week this week and we only had a few matches.

But I did discover my Robot/Dark MM performed amazingly well at lvl 5 versus two Corruptors... but I think they went easy on me. They must have felt sorry for me not having Infridgiate or Snow Storm
20. [ QUOTE ]
Confusion is at its best when it's targetted on enemies that buff, debuff or control - FFGs, Madness Mages, Mortificators etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's also quite dandy on foes that blow up!

It's worth knowing that any foe that can drop a pet will, while confused, drop a pet that fights on your side. This effect lasts only while the petmaker is confused but it can be used to great effect. With some enemy groups, even a single confused liuetenant/boss can do severe damage to their allies. (Cabal bosses in Croatoa are the best!)
21. Definitely predictable but still very impressive.

Just one question: Why wait 2 hours to get the reward? And why go to Warburg to do so? Any reason for that? Okay three questions.
22. This week's event will be starting shortly. Just as another reminder, it's on TEST this week!
23. Yes, 8pm. I editted my last post to say so (and to make you appear foolish! Mwahahaa ).
