Making an absolute statement like "Mayhem Missions are versus Longbow" based on a single screen shot is a stretch, to say the least.

From that screen shot, the most you can realistically say is that "IF that is a shot of a Mayhem Mission, then SOME of them will have Longbow in them."

    [/ QUOTE ]

QFT - that is just an example of a group that might be in a Mayhem Mish.

Anyway, most of the mayhem missions will be in Oranbega...

JUST KIDDING! please don't hurt me...

Why exactly would I be mad at getting the ability to destroy the most hated map in the game?

Grr. I'm so tired of people complaining about no content past 50. Do you guys also complain to Hollywood about no more movie after you fast forward to the end?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok someone should say it so I might as well do it. Some of us have been here a LOOOOOONG time and in no way rushed to get to 50. Some of them don't like to play alts for whatever reasons. These people have a right to voice their general concern or distaste for the lack of things to do with their characters, I just wish they'd so in a more constructive manner.
  3. Better remove regen because there is nothing that matches.

    Claws? (wolverine)
Spines? (I'm frickin sprouting and retracting bony protrusions!)

These are the logical matches (in Statesman's mind)
  4. For example, Choking Cloud and Drain Psyche. (Corruptor version, can't speak for controller/defender version.)

I believe choking cloud functions that way by design. It is an autohit but is only capable of hitting half the foes in the area.

Drain Psyche IIRC is a Dominator power and has no other versions.
  5. There was no 'might be' about it.

Sure there was but it happened and that's all that matters.

All playtests, QA checks, difficulty adjustments and balances have been done with Enhancement Diversification in mind since March 2005.

It was planned and implemented (ED) and led to a huge explosion here on the boards

The boards just want to explode. It is their purpose. It is so on any internet gaming forum.

My how history gets a bit twisted with the passage of time.

Statesman himself said that ED wasn't a done deal at the time of I5. Your quote doesn't actually disprove this fact. It does prove that they've had the system in place for quite some time and could have possibly pushed it out much earlier if they saw it as needed immediately.
  6. 13.33 endurance / 0.43 eps = 31 seconds. So unless you somehow were able to use up your entire energy bar in 31 seconds, the global end reduction does not make up for the loss of those last 3 stamina slots

You should not expect the game to make up for something you can still do. The slots were not lost, you moved them. You simply want the total stamina bonus AND 3 bonus slots.

I've stated before and I'll state it again: The game never required you to take Stamina. It does expect you to spend at least part of your character toward endurance management. Stamina was the easy way out.

The only people that gained anything from this were the people who never had stamina to begin with.

Or people who had stamina but not six slotted.

Or people who had an endurance recovery power. Particularly one that is used on teammates.
  7. My intent was to show that 6 slotting of stamina prior to ED had a much greater return than it does 6 slotting it now.

According to some of the number crunchers on the forums 6 slotting Stamina pre-ED and Post-ED combined with the Global Endurance Reduction are equivalent.
  8. Sure, but is 6 slotting it now as much of an improvement as it was prior to ED?

You said you couldn't. Couldn't and wouldn't don't mean the same thing.

No offense, but your response is pretty stupid

    So was your statement.

I do not want to take hasten.

But you want all the benefits provided by it.

Endurance is bad enough as it is and the end loss from hasten doesn't make this power attractive.

Yet I still see players taking it.

No offense, but your response just goes to show that ED did nothing for diversity

Last I checked most people weren't slotting 5 or 6 of the same type of enhancement into a power. They are tending to slot 2 or 3 of one type then 2 or 3 of another with 1 or 2 of a final. Their enhancements are diversified! It wasn't called player build diversification, though I'd wager builds are now more varied than they were prior to ED.
  9. Either they're an integral part of the animations(which seems pretty unlikely), or they're just attached to the skeleton as it runs through the animations

You will sheathe your weapon when using almost any power outside of the set in question the only exceptions seem to be brawl, which has a different animation for a drawn katana or a bow, and the new low level attack powers. A female character with a drawn weaponoruns differently than a female character without. There was also a bug when you had a weapon drawn that you would attempt to fire an arrow every time you tried the ;bow emote.
  10. He wasn't talking about the precise moment of an attack

    Whoops.

It's silly to consider a hero who attacks with a shield and never defends with it.

I'm sure someone out there would come up with a character who did this for some odd reason. I could also say that my shield is simply emulatng these abilities which are being represented by the actual powers they allow me to use in game. SR is just me whipping my shield around super fast to deflect incoming attacks or something similar.
  11. There's nothing in the animations that prevents a shield strapped to the non-weapon arm?

There is also nothing in the animation that currently does this. You would have to produce new animations for all these attacks/defensive powers with both sword and shield drawn.

  12. Why in god's name would they implement something like that? A toggle dropping mob group in PvE that also has the ability to drain you of almost all your endurance (which would drop your toggles anyway).

To give me something challenging to fight because I don't have enough debt?
  13. K, Xero, let's talk about "fun"

Fun is subjective. What is fun to some will not be fun to others. I think reading these boards should have made that quite clear by now.

Games where neither side can win are no just un-fun, but a complete waste of time

Two skillled opponents fighting to a stalemate. Sounds like it was pretty interesting to me.

I was under the impression that there was penetrating damage in PvP?

Stalker and Scrapper Critical damage as well as a percentage of blaster damage ignores damage resists. There is also the general damage debuff capabiltiy provided by players doing missions in those zones.

We're thinking that Shields would be a Primary AND a Secondary Power Set for Tankers - and a Primary Set for Scrappers...but this thinking might change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Haha shields just a primary attack for scrappers. "I use this shield to bash the heck out of stuff. Oh no, they are throwing a knife at me...I better use my super reflexes so I don't get hit"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bad example since you have already extended the shield and would probably be best off actually dodging the attack in question because you couldn't pull the shield back in time to properly deflect the blow.
  15. If everyone had it, then it's still balanced within itself.

Incorrect. While it may seem like a universal buff it is infact a nerf to all endurance recovery powers.

The only "imbalance" I could see it cause, would be to give you three more power selections, and maybe a few more slots to play with

Currently my level 34 (test only) DM/Regen scrapper as well as my level 50 Kin/Psy defender both do not have stamina. These characters gain only the stamina boost not the 3 extra powers and various slots everyone else acquires. I'm also tempted to eliminate stamina from my EM/EA brute but have so far chosen not to because the benefits of Health and Swift on said character are too great.

(as it seems some Powers/sets are built around the assumption that the player has, or is going to get, Stamina

I stated before that the game assumes (as it should) that you will utilize at least part of your character for endurance management. Stamina is the easy way out.
  16. Ok, first, I never said you got NOTHING from drops.

Your memory much like your comprehension skills need improvement:

And in order to be fully decked out with SO's at even-con level the moment he hits lvl 50, he CAN'T be gaining prestige, or he won't have any inf. to spend on SO's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And none of this answers the math I did so painstakingly in that post for you.

It must have been painful to pull numbers from where you did.

Or better yet, YOU do it in SG mode, and I'll do it with inf from kills and mission bonuses, and we'll compare all the same notes, and we'll see who's right and who's wrong, once and for all.

I already compared with a friend who was leveling with me from 1-40 in CoV. I ran in SGmode from the very end of 29 to 40. He did not. Upon acquiring level 40 he had an extra 8 million infamy and I had an extra 2 Million.

If you don't want to go to all that trouble, then show me where the numbers were wrong in the post I did where I showed there is NO way you could get that kind of inf without kills/mission bonuses

Your example you were running invincible missions. This is not required to play the game. As you pointed out it is actually making the game more difficult, as it should. Also your proposed XP numbers that do not seem to fall in line with the actual XP requirements to gain a level in the 30+ game.

which you still haven't defined...do you mean "ended up with" when you stopped playing them regularly, or ended up with after buying all enhancements as soon as you hit level 50?

The latter. People who are still playing have excess of 50M a few I know even got into the 200M range.

P.S. I was just re-reading this after posting it, and I noticed something: You must suck at this game. That's the only way you could die enough to stay in a level long enough to get enough drops to have enough money to do what you said you did.

Nope sorry. I generally get complimented as one of the best players people have seen and was one of the highest level villains on Virtue for the first week of CoV. I did die but it was by no means frequently.

Yup, it all makes sense now. You suck

And not but a few posts back you were proclaiming I was too good for the game. Perhaps I'm just a whole lot better and particularly smarter than you? In this statement you've essentially said that i utilized what was supposed to be a punishment to maximize my rewards. I'd say that's downright ingenious.
  17. Especially the news that Stealth won't be nerfed.

FYI stealth is still gonig to be altered. They are going to apply stealth suppresion to glowy interaction. The original change is being repealed because it caused potential griefing problems.

Having a good travel power at level 1 did not imbalance the game

Opinion not fully supported. Giving players a free power permanently could have further ramifications. I would also require the redesign of the 4 of the power pools.

because you have to get Stamina.

No you don't. You simply want the benefit of stamina without having to pay the cost. The game is balanced with you having to take some means of endurance management. It will always be so because we have a static endurance reserve. People choose stamina because you end up with the most bang for your buck.

but there is still no justification for having to take the first 2 powers in order to get Stamina

I happen to like the fitness powers prior to stamina. Swift and Hurdle allow me to get around much better and health reduces my downtime. If you don't like these powers then I suggest finding an alternate means of endurance management.

Make Stamina an inherent = game will be much more fun.

    And even further imbalanced.
  18. I was never not wanted i always got a team and 80% of my friends list were + level tankers.

I've always been wanted. Often it was nothing more than padding or bridging though.

I love my defenders and ED cut my damage output

Did it really cut your damage output or just the frontloading of damage?

Besides only the best builds come close to self capping

Did you know that many people didn't even know Speed Boost offered anything more than a run speed boost because that was the only noticable effect to a character with perma hasten and stamina. The best builds had these but so did most everyone else.

Any character with an attack six slotted for damage was also very close to the damage cap. Add in self buffs and any external damage buff powers are effectively dessert as opposed to part of the meal.

A single sonic defender could also allow any non-tank to hit the damage resist cap with just a few powers. You shouldn't balance for a team of 8 people buffing the same stat but you should have enough room that a second or possibly a third are providing some form of benefit.
  19. thats a falacy, yes their are other people on line but answer me this, in the real world when you are say commuting to work in your car you consider that a team activity when your the only one in the car?

No man is an island. Even if you are alone in your car there are other people on the road who could slow you down or in a worst case scenario an accident might occur which would cause a traffic slowdown for everyone. Like it or not your actions do not occur in a vaccuum.

i want you to provide in C++ the code scrip to account for gravity and groud collision. GO

I'll make you a deal. I'll try this if you can manage to make a typo free post?

Um actually since ED doesnt ADD anything it cant BREAK anything by remving it except leting folks 6 slot powers again.

Removing it breaks inter-AT balance between CoH and CoV. Removing it would also break defenders once more because players would be hitting their caps. Altering the caps in anyway would unbalance us versus the environment.

  20. Again, where are you getting this info from? Who told you that the "average" level 50 "ended up" (whatever that means) with "about 20 million extra influence"? You are just making things up, and then asking me to justify these arbitrary numbers.

Leveling up 3 characters to 50. As well as various friends who have leveled up to 50. 20M was actually the low end of the spectrum.

But even assuming you were right, which I don't, so what? What about at level 45? 40? 35?

I used various alts level 30+ to twink a character who had recently hit level 22 as well as several friends and still managed to finish with plentiful influence when I needed it. My level 38 sonic defender who I stopped playing around the time of CoV beta first wave is sitting on approximately 5M influence.

But I couldn't do it as soon as I hit 50. I had to play for a while, getting all my SO's to ++, then gaining enough extra to be able to be a philanthropic "hero of the city".

Ok wow you sucked if you actually had to save up influence to ++ your SOs when you hit 50. You can still do the latter it will now just take more time for you to gather that influence if you so choose and to garner prestige as well.

So you admit, then, that you DIDN'T get 5 million infamy from drops alone.

You stated that you got no influence from drops. I stated I gathered a frickin buttload from drops. You are splitting hairs. I dropped out of SGmode for End of Arc bonuses because I thought they should have been scaled differently than simply being reduced to a mission complete prestige wise.

So you admit, then, that you DIDN'T have money to waste in upgrading your enhancements.

I've never bothered to upgrading my enhancements every level because it a waste of resources. It always has been. 40k influence for a 3% bonus is a joke.and that's only if you want to keep them from going yellow. If you are increasing to green you are gaining even less. I also stated I had 2M extra infamy when I achieved level 40. So I in fact did have extra infamy to waste on upgrading but simply chose to avoid doing so.

I saw lvl 50's die all the time. You just have to push your limits. That's what makes the game "fun". And it was fully possible to do that pre-I5. To claim it wasn't is to be flatly dishonest.

I saw level 50 dies frequently. They are called blasters. Meanwhile I'd watch a tank herd upwards of 150 foes at +4 to his level and watch his health bar not move and scrappers do the same. A character shouldn't have to go to rediculous extremes to face a threateing situation in a video game based around combat.

  23. Multi User Dungeons. Essentially it was a small text based program someone wrote that was similiar to playing an RPG online with a group of friends. They are associated with MMOs because the current MMOs would probably be best described as direct descendents of these games.

Your server sucks. I say gank them all. You issued a challenge to any takers when you entered the zone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And thus I will never be in a PVP zone if I can avoid it. Because I think your attitude is far more prevalent than the honorable one that the poster suggested exists in Warburg on his server.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Upon entering a zone that is labeled as PvP you have issued the challenge to any takers. It's that simple.

Simple fact: PvP zones offer increased XP/Inf rewards for kills because of the risk of a player defeating you. These players have eliminated that risk. How long do you think before the reward follows?
