  1. I just wanna say thanks to Crestent and GrayHuntress for voting for me! Yay! :-)
  2. I'm workin' on my piece for JohnnyKat - made a thread about it!
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=183496
  3. Work In Progress!

As part of The_Foo's "Spread The Love" thread, I'm doing a picture of JohnnyKat's character "Northern Star" - I thought I might post my very own thread to show the W.I.P. and end with the final piece (when done).

here's the first, rough pose sketch:
    http://art-tosharpa.deviantart.com/a...etch-131660467

and here's the 2nd, more detailed sketch:
    http://art-tosharpa.deviantart.com/a...etch-131661125

Still quite a bit of work to do, he should be stockier, and I'm not happy with either of the arms - but I'll get there!
  4. Hey all you Champions! (er, I mean, City of Heroes and Villains folk!) come on over to the "Screenshots and Fan Art" section of the boards and check out the entries for the July "Fan Art Wars" battle!

    Check em out!

This month's theme is "Transformation" (Hero-to Villain or vica versa)

Any COH/COV board member can vote - so come on down!
  5. Some very nice entries this month! Another tough choice!

This month, I'm casting my vote for: Toxic_Shia

For a very funny, ironic Villain-to-Hero transformation that had me laughing out loud. Well done!

Honorable mentions to Lousy_Day, The_Foo, and Tacky_Tricky (or is it TrickyTacky?)
  6. I Like the way you did the ripped cloth, Tricky!

And, Crestent, the image looks fine on my monitor, even before downloading. Is the black around the necklace-gem part of it - or is it the "powers" oozing out of it?
  7. (even with regeneration) Ouch! That looks painful, Foo!
  8. Okay! I did some more work on my entry and edited the DeviantArt entry to put the NEWER, Better-er one in the same place! (then I posted the "old" not-so-fabulous one in my scraps folder)

SO - please use the Deviant Art link - I'm still changing the Photobucket one (and the link for that one won't be the same)

EDIT: and the new Photobucket one is up now, too.

Photbucket link for those who can't look at DeviantArt

You have until midnight the 26th, Foo :P (pacific time)

    [/ QUOTE ]
?? you mean I've still got DAYS left??

(where was my head at? yesterday wasn't even the 24th!)

Well, Hmmm. Am I allowed to go in and do some clean up editing on the image?

    Well here's my submission;

It may be slightly not work safe - I dunno, everything's covered. But Mako IS naked in it (as he normally is) while turning into his most dreaded opposite enemy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cute! Ha ha! I like the three-panel approach!

Since I'm sitting safe this month I thought I'd do some non-digital work: Hay Fever

Sweet piece, Lousy_Day. I love the cool light/warm shadows.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nicely rendered there, Projectionist!
  12. Oh, and I DID have my entry posted with about FIVE minutes before midnight. Honestly!

I'd just shoved it on Photobucket to save time - then leisurely went about uploading it to my DeviantArt gallery and writing all that stuff, and uploading the sketches, and the refs for the two characters - THEN went back after I'd finished all that and edited my post to INCLUDE those links. So if the timestamp seems off - thats why.

    Hopin' thats okay!
  13. Okay - here's mine -

"I think this juice has gone BAD!"

EDIT: and now I have the same image over on my DeviantArt page

My entry on my Deviant Art page (its the same image, just rather have it on DA)

(the rough sketches are in my DA scraps gallery)

Reference for my Hero: "Mr. Aprosaath"

Reference for my Villain: "Evil Aprosaath"

Okay - for my part now, I choose to "Play It Forward" to: Johnnykat - shall I draw "Northern-Star" (hero) or "Rising-Fury" (villian) for you? Just PM some links to reference pics & info and I'll get started.

    JohnnyKat, you've just been activated!

    LJ

Edit: and yes, I plan to color it... like I did this one which is why some of the details are left out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Very nice! I love how you did Escapee's face - very pretty! Lookin' forward to the colored piece!

And the piece is so loose and free - yet shows such grace and effectively capture's each character.

EDIT: oh, and as I posted in the other thread - I'm "Playing it forward" to JohnnyKat.
  18. Okay - I'll try.

Question: if mine gets chosen, then do I get to choose the person's toon (from this thread) that I would draw? Or does The_Foo choose it for me?

    > I offer my drawing/digital painting skill

Here's my character: "Escapee Numer 537" (yes, its mispelled and I haven't corrected it yet)

    Character Turnaround

    Character Head shots

    She's a Mutant - Controller - Plant Control/Thermal Radiation

Bio-Blurb: "I do not know who I am. I do not know how I came to be. I do not know why I am different.

What I do know is that, for so very long, I lived in a cold and dark place where my keepers were cruel to me. I know that I was rescued from that place by a glowing woman of green. I know that she set me free and treated me with kindness. I know what she told me - that I should help others as she had helped me.

I promised her I would. Then she left.

She never told me her name.

I don't even know what my own name is.

But I do know this: I made a promise to help others like she helped me, and thats exactly what I'm going to do."

I just finished my third character. Syn Hope you like.

    Poses!

She's one of the more awesome stock people I've run across on dA, and she encourages artists to practice figure drawing with her shots.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, SenshiStock is one of the good ones for that.

Also, some people like to use Poser or Daz3D to create posed virtual models to draw from.

I am looking for got good tutorials on both inking and coloring. It's to rely on the generosity of others but I want to make my own masterpieces and commission so work as well as help other with thier color and ink needs. I don't even know waht a good photo sofware if any, I might need.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Echo the recommend for the DeviantArt Tutorials, and here's some other possible sources:

    "DIGITAL INKING 101: V 1.2"
    http://www.methart.com/tutorials/digi-ink.html

A thread on the DC boards on Digital Inking
    http://dcboards.warnerbros.com/web/m...eID=2004340245

You might find some tutorials over at www.Tutorialized.com
    http://www.tutorialized.com

    Some PURCHASE-able tutorials from www.digitalarttutorials.com
    http://digitalarttutorials.com/tutorial_detail.php?id=7

I also echo the recommendation to get a drawing tablet if you can afford one - some do come with paining* software bundled in that can be nice.

    * EDIT: while I admit that digital inking can, indeed, be a pain sometimes - what I meant to type there was "painting programs"

    Another early submission from me:

    Conversion of Scirocco

I am usually not this deligent. There are other projects I need to work on, so I had to get this out of the way first.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow! The brush strokes & textures are lovely! Very nice piece!
  24. Wow. This WILL be a challenge to do! I like it, mind you - but it WILL be a challenge.

..and TWO eliminations this month? Whoooof!

Well, then - I better dig deep and see if I can manage to "bring the rain."
