  1. and of course, another I11 puzzle was in the Times.

It also says the issue will go live before 12/21.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it stays within the Fall 2007 release date, however, it doesn't necesarily guarantee a release by 12/21, but I'd bet that it will be out by then.
  3. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned by the devs or not, but I did see something concerning the combo system for dual blades:

    [ QUOTE ]
For the Dual Blade, the order of the attacks can execute a combo that will either buff your character of de-buff your enemy.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Use the new Weapon Customization interface to choose from several types of weapons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Looks like you'll be able to do more than just color your weapons, awesome, simply awesome

Also, best guess on the combo system w/ duel blades is that they do less damage, but the more hits in a row you get, the more damage you do. (although this sounds more like something they would use for a defiance fix than an option for a powerset)
  5. *sniff* I'm just so happy
Thanks Devs, this Issue will be awesome

[edit] anyone know if you'll be able to change the actual look of the weapons, (i.e. the shape of the sword/hilt) or just the color?

So the Paragon Times article mentions it'd be disasterous if they reached a major city like Chicago or Empire City. I've been to Chicago, and it rates "major city" but never heard of an Empire City. Searching on the internet turns up a place in Oklahoma, which seems a bit away from RI. Also only showed a population of 734 for the 2000 census.

    New fictional city?
Empire City = Nemesis Empire? All automaton population? FTW??

    [/ QUOTE ]

Someone mentioned that a long time ago when talking about the renovation of Boomtown. Some people thought that maybe Nemesis would take it over and form his own sort of Utopia there...

The Rikti were created by aliens thousands of years ago using Shift, or something like it.

    ^^ new favorite theory

    [/ QUOTE ]

    and and and and!

In OUR world, it was the Rikti War that led to tens of thousands dying and memorial speeches in Atlas Park and so on. But in THEIR world, it was the Outbreak Plague, doing exactly the same thing!

Every role that the Rikti War played here, from cordoning off sections of city to wiping out countless ordinary people and heroes, seems to have been played by the Outbreak Plague over there.

    And eventually, they lost...

    [/ QUOTE ]
but then how do you get from the only physical effects being the glowing green eyes, to full on mutation into the rikti we know?

And this is just me remembering here, but didn't some alien invaders turn the rikti into what they are today? Then they got mad and tried to do it to us. (just going off of memory here)

This makes alot of sense, but what would it mean in terms of new features in I11?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Rikti Homeworld!

With the newspaper story being how it all began!

    [/ QUOTE ]
    ^^ new favorite theory
  10. [ QUOTE ]
    OK, here's an insane thought.

    **spoilarz**

The Outbreak Virus contains primitive 'Rikti genes', right?

But the newspaper article doesn't mention the Rikti ONCE. It's as if the Rikti didn't even exist in that world.

So maybe, just maybe... it was the Outbreak virus, on this parallel world, that ultimately led to the mutation of all of humanity into the Rikti! And that's where the Rikti came from!

Ouroboros isn't just a symbol of infinity, it's a symbol of the eternal loop, of something creating itself.

So what if the newspaper report is actually from the distant past of the Rikti dimension? And it was not just the Rikti that created Outbreak, but Outbreak that created the Rikti?

    [/ QUOTE ]
This makes alot of sense, but what would it mean in terms of new features in I11?
  11. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Didn't the article mention that the virus/drug was stolen from the Crey? Did this happen in our version of events too?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, it did. Outbreak was stolen from Crey Industries, but was rumored to be "Rikti mutagens."

We should also keep in mind that it's been stated that issue 10 was the beginning of a multiple-issue storyline, so there are undoubtedly seeds planted in issue 10 that will shed light on issue 11 (like the Nemesis/Rikti connection, maybe?)...

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think the key differences between the outbreak of our world and tha of the alternate timeline is that 1.It's Crey, not Rikti and 2.It's contagious
  12. [ QUOTE ]
What if they are changing the tutorial for CoH and CoV?

If the 'Outbreak' is spreading, and a new clampdown on the Zig is any indication, this could just be the signal of change in tutorial. Someone mentioned that this could be a 'what if' situation. But what if it's not?

If the Outbreak is no longer contained in that one spot out of the way, then the situation got worse, and a new way is being found to get new heroes first experiences without endangering them to Contamination.

If there's a clamp down on the Zig, that would mean that Lord Recluse would have to find other ways to get a hold of some 'Destined Ones'.

    [/ QUOTE ]
There's a slight problem with that, according to the newspaper, all of Talos Island is quarantined. Somehow I don't think the devs will lock out the travel hotspot of the city.

So, I'm obligated to go out to dinner, rush back, find out the secret identity of Castle with a pic and I'm scooped. Drat.

Anyway, our ability to keep track of the Devs is woefully lacking, so, I whipped us this google spreadsheet based on forum posts and ParagonWiki (which is surprisingly lacking in info in this regard).

Take a look and help fill in any details.

So what does Ex look like? And Lighthouse?

Hmm, there was a thread with both their pics not that long ago, but it must have been purged cause I can't seem to find it.

Anyway, I did dig up a shot of Lighthouse and his "terminator eye" here

    [/ QUOTE ]
lol trying to find a picture of lighthouse, I haven't so far, but I found everywhere he's worked in the past 10 years, where he went to school, and even what he majored in.

    But still no picture

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, that IS really Lighthouse in that link. Here's the original post by Ex Libris, and the related article

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, seriously, that is Lighthouse! Did you think I just dropped a link to some unknown schmuck I found while surfing??

    [/ QUOTE ]
I stand corrected, just couldn't see a name on there, and I seem to remember This picture going around right when he started and just wanted to check.
Thanks for that link too obsidius, lots of cool piccys there

My own, trying to get the proper beat...

    Twelve Wolves a'forming...
    Eleven Mages exploding...
    Ten Tsoo a'porting...
    Nine Knives a'tropping...
    Eight Mushrooms mezzing...
    Seven Sappers sapping...
    Six Vahz a'puking...
    FIIIIIIVE TRAAAAINING DROOOOPS...
    Four Illusion pets...
    Three Shivans...
    Two Rularuu...
And Hami is about to eat me....

Sounds good, but I think we'd need to use something other than Rularuu for number 2. Switch to two Sappers sapping and change 7 to seven freakshow rezzing. (man I hate that)
  18. I started an earth/sonic not too long ago, and I thoroughly enjoy it. I like how the earth control powers add a lot of defense to a team actively, while the sonic adds resistance, meaning they will die slower almost always period, before and after battles. It means im getting a double whammy and only have to worry usually about one set during the middle of chaos (unless someone decides to aggro three spawns). Im only 15 right now, so all my best levels are pretty much ahead of me, but i find it great. Not to mention having a resistance bubble means that i myself will be lasting longer, especially against mobs that are purple and would be getting past a ff bubble field anyway.

Personally i love sonic cage. I tell teams beforehand i will be caging the bosses, or if no bosses, the strongest guy there. I have a bind that says who just got sonic caged and that they cant affect or be affected, so not as many problems if i play smart (though its darn funny to see someone slashing at a guy for like five minutes before they figure it out). With hasten and having this fully slotted or near it, i should be able to perma cage the toughies until the rest of the spawn is entirely wiped out, AND i can focus my st hold on, say, a pesky leui.

As for stoney, i cant even imagine that thing with sonic buffing on, and my sonic field near by, and 100% psy resist. And with SS, i can just run at the guys and jump over, and stoney takes the aggro, already sonic buffed and all, which means he's gonna be one mean son of a gun. Though im assuming his taunt isnt strong enough to protect me from taking aggro from disruption field?

Some questions, can EB's, AV's, or GM's be caged? if so, one could wipe out all the minions that are a pain in the butt to deal with around them to begin with, be smiling as a castrated AV gives u angry faces, and then before the cage drops, u drop ur death soup on them.

And i cant wait to get my +res app shield, or maybe power boost. Missing a tank? No problem. Between me app resist and my own resist up, and with stony and my controls, who needs a tank?

Anyway, the guide did seem to reflect what some trollers have said. Though if i find it necessary, i might go 3 disorient duration on stalagmites with 2 acc and 1 recharge, simply because i will have hasten, and that way the enemy is out for a nice little bit.

And how is the knockdown on liquify? i hear it isnt all that great, but if i was expecting it to decrease incoming damage like an ice slick, would i be disappointed?

Thanks for someone actually writing a guide, and i dont know why more people dont play it, i mean seriously, with sonic siphon and with stony with disruption field on, soloing couldnt be that horrible, at least u wont be dying often. heheh.

    They do exist!

I just wish the freakin Mekmen didn't have a 5th column emblem on their chest...

I mean come on why would a hero have a Nazi bot? And when the 5th returns that'll raise some questions with people in your SG I imagine....

"Hey Super Sam, umm me an the guys have been meaning to talk to you about your robo-buddy..."

    "Shamus? What about him?"

"Well since the 5th returned we're kinda freaked out about having a mekman running around the base."

"Mekman? He's not a mekman he's my pet robot..."

"He has a 5th emblem emblazoned on his chest..."

    "Um...so?"

"He attacked me last week when I had my yamacha on."

    "That was just a hug."

    "With second degree burns?"

"It was a very passionate hug."

    "Get rid of him."

    [/ QUOTE ]
    LOL!
I can't believe we won't be able to target them! I wanted to bubble my little mechman sooo bad.

’d like to start out by mentioning Issue 8: To Protect and Serve. This is a hero-centric Issue that finally levels the playing field between Heroes and Villains.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure why exactly but this statement bothers me. I do not perceive the "playing field" to be balanced in anyway. In fact I see it to be slanted fully to the heroes advantage in terms of PVP. I sure hope villains get some loving besides epic archetypes or this will quickly turn sour for a lot of PVP'ers.

I hope my concerns are disproved once more specific information is released.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Leveling the playing field" doesn't refer to pvp, it's refering to the lack of things like mayhem missions on the CoH side. While pvp may be unbalanced, not all comparisons between the two games are refering to pvp. O yeah, can't wait for all this stuff.
  21. great guide, as a relatively new bots/ff mm (lvl 10), I plan on following this build nearly to the letter. (I had planned close to that anyways). It's always helpful to know just what a power does and have some experience opinion on it before you pick it up. Great job again on the guide
  22. Gratz guys! Glad to see that Triumph is finally getting some recognition for something (I went on here and there were like 20 ppl max on the other boards and 75 ppl here) I don't have a high level villain so it might be a while until I even get to the level requirement (if ever :P)
  23. not that I know much about such things, but if you wanted to make a hero to put on a T-shirt for example; You'd have to think up the costume by yourself, maybe without the aid of a CoX costume designer, if not that then use a costume generater and not register it on CoX. Then take a picture of it, make the patch and so on and so forth. The idea for a novel is much simpler; don't register it. It doesn't exist if you don't register it. Therefore, it's still YOUR property, because it never became Cryptic's to begin with.
