Personally, I think Jewel just misunderstood what Ionos meant, or perhaps Ionos was indicating wrong. :-)
Doesn't mean that what Ravenswing said isn't partly true, but I don't think that was entirely the case here. (Please correct me if I am wrong, though.) -

In north america redheads are hot, but mousey girls, that turn out to be "freaks in the sheets" or dominatrix like personalities in bed.
In europe ( england) redheads are made fun of, bunt of jokes or just there and have no special rules or lesbians ( wel maybe just in sugar rush).

I both resent and resemble those remarks. I won't tell you which one I resent and which I resemble, but it's safe to say I am a redhead.
I am also a woman, don't play blokes, as I simply can't do it without falling into stereotypes. :s -
Welcome to the rp scene. :-)
Most has already been said by others. I'd just like to add; if you need any help, let me know, I'll help as best I can. :-) -
((And here a nice place for the GoD to post their private findings on Requiem related rumble. ))

Having explored as many worlds as has been possible in the intervening time since the meeting, a tired Liz stepped out of the portal in Doctor MacAllisters Laboratory. With a snip, she loosened her cape and let it drop behind her on the floor once out of the hazard zone. Moments later, a maintbot scuttled in to retrieve it for her, and bring it to were it belonged. Her eyes scanned the area, no sign of Sebastian, or anyone else for that matter, save the ever present robots of various varieties. The weight of recent events and the state of health of her loved ones weighed heavily on her shoulders as she started to make her way to the family area.
Click, click, click. Her footsteps echoed through one of the vast halls within the Lab. There must be a way to speed this up... Elizabeth mumbled to herself, barely noticing the surrounding as they changed on her way through the vast expanse of the Laboratory. Tap, tap, tap. The sound of her footsteps changed as the flooring under her feet did. A way that gives us what we seek quicker than this... The frustration was obvious in her voice, worry for her family, and to some extent herself, caused a shiver to run through her.
Halfway through one of the many large chambers, she suddenly stopped in her tracks. Of course... its a chance, a long shot, but a chance nonetheless. Her mind raced ahead until eventually, her body caught up and in a fast pace, she raced towards the family area and without so much as a glance around, she went for the door to the room she shared with Doctor MacAllister. She glanced about, not really expecting anyone, but not wanting to risk an unnecessary confrontation between him and the person she needed to speak to. Satisfied with her conclusion she was alone, she closed the door behind her and locked it. Scathach... we need to talk. She said aloud.
Before her, a shadow appeared, vaguely shaped to the figure of a slender woman, dressed in ragged robes, but she was missing all recognisable features. Still, there was no mistaken, her attention was focused on the woman who had summoned her. "Elizabeth..." Her raspy voice said in a sort of greeting. "You want my help in this war your partner has taken up?" She added, the tone of voice, almost better than any visualisation could have briought it across, self-satisfied.
"I hate it when you do that..." Elizabeth replied with a tired, and somewhat agitated sigh. "And it isn't a war he started, it was started by this Requim, Sebastian simply decided to do something about him. And I am not going to let him do so alone."
"You have different tasks to do, Elizabeth." The shadowy goddess shot back with irritation in her voice.
"And I can hardly do them, if this world has been blown to bits." Liz snapped, crossing her arms defiantly. "I am fed up with people telling me what to do whilst they ignore problems that might be of a higher importance then their own goals or health. I am hardly a child anymore, Scathach."
"But you took an oath long before any of this occured, and Alexander is out there, waiting for a change. You cannot ignore that threat."
"I know... I know he's still out there, but he's kept himself quiet. He's not been spotted and most of my work is within the safety of the Laboratory. I can do this without him being able to ambush me, or try anything else for that matter. He'd have to get through the Lab first. And when I do go out, I always make sure someone's with me. I think Alexander can wait, under the circumstances. Then, once this is over and we're all safe, we can deal with Alexander together, with the whole family."
"You're still going ahead with that foolish idea? You're determined to get hurt, aren't you? What about your little sister, hmm? She's broken into pieces, literally. She's no use in the fight. What about your lover, hmm? What if he disappears indefinately, what, with all the pressure he is putting on himself? You'll be left weakened, and so will the others. Such is the price of fighting in a pack, in a family. Together, you are strong, but if one loss happens, the rest of the pack feels it and they get distracted, and you will have two losses." Scathach's voice softened a little in tone, but kept its raspy quality. "I am not the enemy here, Elizabeth, I only have your best interest in mind. I worry about you."
With a sigh, Liz nodded. "I know, but please try and see, that I must do this first. And if you help me, I would be able to do this faster, so that I can go back to my... objectives."
"I can't change your mind on this, can I, my childe?" The ghostly, shadowy figure drifted closer.
Liz shook her head. "No, you can't."
"Very well then..." Though it sounded reluctant, even the goddess could acknowledge that for the moment, she needed to give in. "You seek information about different worlds... to place those beacon things, yes?" She paused and looked to Liz, who nodded to confirm, before continuing. " Though I cannot give you it all on a silver platter, I will be able to help with some -of them. My power only goes so far. But, in worlds where an aspect of me is worshipped, and then only, if those aspects share the same similarities... I'd say, about two-and-a-half-thousand worlds, give or take a few."
"Not as much as I'd hoped... then again, I guess that I hoped for too much. Please, get me the information as fast as you can." Liz said, already turning towards the door.
"I won't be able to put it into those dead scientific things, though, I may be able to perform -some- miracles, I have my limits."
That was something Liz hadn't yet considered. "Books, perhaps, or scrolls? We could get some robots to input the information, maybe. Use my old room to store them up?"
"You're a trying woman at times, Elizabeth MacGregor." Said the raspy figure behind her, as Liz reached for the doorhandle.
Without looking over her shoulder, she smiled a little. "So I've been told, but only when I'm being stubborn." She unlocked the door and slipped out, not waiting for another snotty reply.
"That's what, always then...?" The shadowy figure muttered before disappearing. -
The 24th? That's a Monday, right? If so, I'll sign up with Shadow's Grace, my 50 kat/regen scrapper.
Always wanted to, never got a chance, if it's not in a weekend, I'll be able to, so yay! -
((Jumping the bandwagon and actually finding my rp mojo again, I decided to turn a little IC chat Doc and Liz had into a story to outline for myself Liz's involvement.
A thank you goes out to J, who helped me get into the character again through this. ))
14/06/06 02.45 am
A shadow made its way through the dimly lit corridors of the Lab. It was still dark outside, in this universe, in this time, and most people in Paragon City were resting. But not her, not Liz. She visited the Library, the family room and various experimental areas, but other than the various bots, scuttling about on an automated program, she could not find who she sought.
Finally, a sigh ca,e from her as she leant her right shoulder against a doorpost, her arms folded. "If I just keep looking, I'll be here forever..." She mumbled to herself as she idly raised her left hard to her necklace. With the appropriate commands, she activated her comm and spoke aloud. "Sebastian?"
There was a moment or two before the connection was answered, and then came the response. "Hmm?" There were technological and electrical sounds in the background - the beep of consoles, the spark of odd devices.
"Where can I find you?" Her voice came back, sounding somewhat fatigued.
"I'm in the High Energy district at the moment, Elizabeth," comes back the reply. "You sound tired: perhaps some sleep might be in order?" Docs familiar voice replied.
"I can't." She said simply. "I'll be over shortly."
"Stand still, love."
"Okay..." She says, a little dubious as she still wasnt very comfortable with teleportation and the implications of it, but trusting his inventions enough to let him.
There was a pulsing blue flash and a feeling of an elevator going straight down as a portal opens underneath her feet and she fell through it to land on her feet in a large chamber in the HED, the portal closing over her head. Across the chamber was the massive bulk of a portal generator, while Doc was working on a forklift-truck-sized device at a workshop area.
Having recovered from the initial shock, she looked around before making her way over to Doc. Her garments still the same as the evening before, save her cape and the scarf that was around her neck. Her hair loose, but didnt seem to show signs of tangles from having slept.
He passed some tools across to a maintbot and turned to where she materialised - a clear space off to one side marked out with hazard tape, clearly kept clear for such use - as she walked across the floor. He smiled tiredly as she arrived. "Still in uniform, my dear?"
A faint smile touched her lips as she let her eyes meet his, though in eyes her worry for him still showed. "I couldn't sleep... I've been sleeping badly for a few days now, but... I guess now I really can't sleep anymore." She stepped over and placed a soft kiss on his cheek in an affectionate greeting.
He leant forward to accept the kiss affectionately, then frowned, his monocle clicking as he looked her over. "I can give you a sedative for that, if you want." He reached for his multibelt.
She shook her head. "No love, that won't help. Besides, my concern is too great to allow it to work. Have you looked in the mirror recently? If you think I am tired, it's nothing compared to you. That's why I am here, to ask you, to please take a rest. Even if for a short time... This is killing you, and I can't let it, it goes against everything I believe in, and to an extent, to what you yourself taught me." She looked down, trying to further formulate her words. "I love you, more than I could ever express. I can't sit by and watch this happen helplessly, it is breaking me..."
He coughed, shaking his head. "You have to be stronger than this, my love. I have to push myself, or no-one else will." He shrugged. "I can't ask more of anyone than I'm prepared to do myself."
"So you try and set the standards yourself...? Of course others will, you're not alone, love, you have us, and many friends. What would they all feel, if you'd kill yourself on their behalf? It's not fair, Sebastian." She swallowed hard, more to control her emotions, which had started to cause a lump in her throat. "Strong or not, you cannot honestly expect me to sit down and accept that you are pushing yourself to your death. Life is worth much more than that.
"Life won't be worth much if we all get atomised by a crazy Italian nictus-host," he said tiredly. "Besides, if I will not set the standard, who else will? It's not as bad as all that. I'm tired, yes, but I've been tired before." He shrugged. "Soon some of these new heroes will take up some of the load. Then I can relax a little. At the moment, I'm searching a thousand worlds a day, and it's going too slowly." He yawned.
"I've never seen you like this before..." Liz managed with some effort, her voice soft, meek.
He gave a tired smile. "This is what it's like for me nearly all the time." He shrugged again. "Besides, I've taken your advice: I've recruited help. Soon I'll be able to take more of a back seat."
She frowned, both at his remark that it is like this for him all the time as well as the newly recruited help remark. "But... you don't have us then, you do now. What can I do to help take some of the load? Also, who are these new recruits you're talking about...? I can't stand seeing you like this..."
He scratched his head. "Um... all the people at the meeting. They'll be doing the searching now. I just have to finish.. the support."
Somehow, she mustered the power to strengthen her voice. "How long is that going to take...? And what can I do to help you make it happen faster? Either you rest with me, or I will not rest at all. I cannot. I fear for your life. I care not if perhaps one day our paths may separate for a while, I know it will not be forever, I won't let it. I will also not give up without a fight, not after all we've been through." Her voice lowered a little again. "I'm not ready to let you go..."
Doc shook his head. "Elizabeth, please, calm yourself. It is not as bad as all that."
"It sounded like that when we spoke this evening..." She insisted, thinking about their earlier conversation.
"Yes, I am tired. Yes, I am stretched thin. Yes, we need to be ready if the worst should happen, and not become too complacent." He enumerated the points on tired fingers. "However, the world will not end because I'm tired. It might if I'm not prepared to push myself to the finish line. It won't be for much longer, I'm sure. Please, get some sleep? You'll only make me worrieder. If that's even a word."
I was her turn to shake her head. "That's exactly my plea to you, love, and like you, I cannot comply. Tell me what I can do to help you speed up the process. I am ready to do anything."
He looked at her, shrugs, walked over to a wall rack and pulled a small palmtop display unit from the rack, walked back to her and gave it to her. "There you go. Start with Gamma-Upsilon-873-Rho and work down." He jerked a thumb at the portal generator.
She seemed very sure of herself, despite not having a lot of knowledge of it all, and despite her known fear of anything technical. She took the palmtop from him as he offered it, and looked a little bewildered at the screen, then at the generator. "Uhm, what exactly am I looking for, and... how do I operate it? Just show me, I can learn fast."
"There are roughly fifty thousand dimensions to explore. Just select one from the list, and walk through the portal. The unit will lead you back to the portal once it's collected all the information it needs. Good luck."
Liz took a deep breath, and with fear in her eyes she picked the one he suggested from the list, her fingers trembling ever so slightly. With a whisper under her breath, her katana came to view, and she checked if it was lose in its scabbard before making her way to the portal. With a toss of her hair, she turned to look over to him once the truth of it settled in. "We need to contact everyone who was there and willing to help explore. It's time we all chipped in. I am stating here and now, and will not accept any argument, that you have done enough alone. I will have no more of it on this project. If I can do this, then anyone can. For once, Sebastian, I am keeping my foot down, even if it means standing up to stop you. You might get away with it in other dimensions and times, but not in my reality, not on my time. You are not alone here, so you are going to use those resources."
A smile came to her lips then. "I love you, Sebastian MacAllister." And with that, she stepped through. -
I'll have a look as well, as I have cut my hand rather nastily, thus preventing me to do a lot of the cleaning as it involved chemicals and we don't have any proper bandages...
I know I keep all my logs, so all of it is still there. However, a year and a half of playing has made it all a bit blurry, time-wise. Can anyone give me a head's up around which period it was again? -
If Cognito is dropping out, I see no reason why not. If you want, as the level cap is now 10, give yourself some time to level and come to the Wednesday meet. Please bare in mind, though, that you will have to play a Mastermind, as this is the place Cognito went for.
-
I'll be there Wednesday, as tonight, there are some domestic things that need arranging and I have no idea how long that'll take. :s
I'll make sure Fury is up to the required level on Wednesday :-) -

I can understand that point of view, but I don't agree personally. If characters need or want to talk in private, I see nothing wrong with it. Not everyone plays with everyone and neither should they. So whether the char I am not playing with stands two feets from me, or is in another zone doing their own thing it matters little to me.

I am not sure this is the point Ravenswing tried to make. It became the 'addiction' of the moment, and alienated a few people from an existing group, thus causing rifts. These people played other alts as well, but got so absorbed by these new teen heroes, that they became, or so it came acorss, very inconsiderate of their friends.
Plots got abandoned in the middle of a breakthrough and a lot of people simply lost the thrill to roleplay.
Some did not take into account, due to their enthousiasm, that they let other friends down. When this was addressed, the message was; Come play a teen then. This is very specific roleplay and not everyone's cup of tea, but it was a swallow or drown situation, or at least, so it came across to those who did not play teens in the RG.
Sure, people have the right to do what they wish, everyone's free to play as they like, where they want, but if you have other engagements and promises to people you cannot hold cause you'd rather be off somewhere else doing something else, it's not fair on those you let down.
This reflects your average rebelious youth who says; I am damn well going to do what ever I please regardless of what my parents or anyone else older and wiser say to me, hence the uncaring and devisive remark.
That's my 2 inf on it. -

Looks to me there's a spot saved for you Cognito, on one of the teams. We're gathering every Monday or Wednesday (for those who can't make Monday) at 19.30 BST.
Jedi;
As I said yesterday, so sorry to hear you'd have wanted to join. :-( I am sure if someone stops playing, we can fit you in.
However, I know quite a few people were interested and didn't get a spot. Perhaps a second group can be started by you? -
Wot time we startin' our pillagin' t'night, boss? ;-)
Edit: should have been for Leif -
Shame I missed it, I was hoping you'd wait till today, what with Max, Z and me being in Deadlands, but still; Hurrah!
-
Unfortunately, I have been struck with an icky sickness. Been sniffling, coughing and other delights for days, so I didn't make it last night. I will, however, attend Wednesday. :-)
-
Well, after much trying, I managed to name her; Shadow's Fury (And no, she has nothing to do with Liz, but all the other names were taken. :s)
Sounds good to me so far, Leif. As for Supergroupnames. I don't know, but I actually quite like; The Crew
Oh, let me know if you want to officially want to use the channel, in which case, I'll hand it over to you and can make it private if you wish. -
Won't be there tonight, but if people are showing tomorrow, I'll be happy to join in. Tonight, however, Deadlands!
*Wanders off to do tidying* -
We're all but a few bars from level 3, so still very ickle. ;-)
-
Well, the first breakout was a success. Though we did not really get in character yet, many ideas flew about freely and we got to know eachother a bit better. I think what's next, is deviding the teams into sets.
We managed to get three groups full now, which is very promising indeed.
Hope all those present enjoyed themselves a little, I am certainly looking forward to the next session. -
Wha...? Me, coordinator...? *Plots revenge by stealing Leif's hat* Grrrr
Okay, in that case, I suggest, for tonight, we all gather on Channel TheCrew and sort it from there. As soon as I am in,I'll create the channel -
Okay, 20h approaches, and I need a break from sowing, I also need to finish my roast... ARGH!
I'll be in game, though, regardless of the state of various things... Who will be there and how do we meet up? -
Coolies, I'll be there tomorrow. I will by that time, have a character concept *will have brainstorm sessions tonight whilst making new LARP dress*.
Mondays are good for me, as are Wednesdays. Tuesdays, alas, are impossible for me to attend. :s
P.S. *Pokes Stase* Yay! -
The way it's going, we might have to wait for hell to freeze over, if we wait till I7. :s
Also, where are we all meeting up to decide on which day of the week we'll be playing? (Sorry, if it was mentioned, I sure didn't see it ) -
Tuesdays and Thursdays are difficult for me, as I have tabletop sessions I need to attend. Monday, Wednesdays or Fridays (or indeed the weekend) are no problem, though.
And yay! *Starts plotting background* -
*Looks about* Hmmm, am I first?
Woooot! First pick!!! *Does a happy dance*
Well, I've not done much with Villains yet, and I am certainly not going to be doing much with CoH that is roleplay-y for a while... I'll sign up if I may?
And my preferance would be a Brute. -
I think you might be misunderstanding. They are not trying to stop you, Reepi, they are giving their view on things.
As you see, a similar attempt has been made, and neglected. They are just showing that to you as proof, not to negate your idea. They are trying to show you, that your efforts might be futile and want to spare you the hassle of going through the motions.
In the same breath, they do tell you, that if you want to try, then by all means do so, but they are not convinced, and admittedly, I am rather skeptical as well. That said. If you want to do it and blow our minds away with whatever stunning lay out you may come; I say go for it mate, give it a shot, but no promises that it'll become a success.
