CuppaJo... you have been the single most unifying force in this community. When the shizzit it the fan, you were there to calm our nerves. When things were exciting and shiny you were helping guide us through it all. I've been in many forum communities, some for good, some for bad... but you are undoubtedly the finest Forum Mistress I have had the pleasure of posting under.

You've banned me, you've unbanned me, you've rebanned me... yet despite it all you remained about as close to a friend as one could ask for, while still maintaining undeniable professionalism. You're a sweet Woman, an amazing Woman.

To say that the CoH community has lost something... someone... precious... is an understatement. We've lost our Heart, CuppaJo, we've lost You.

My sympathies go out to Cricket. This is not hyperbole.

Either way, goodbye, and good luck... as is painfully apparent...

I take an issue with the sounds as well, they need to be more androgynous, or perhaps differentiate by the hero set you have.

However, and perhaps more importantly, the damage resistance debuff is simply too powerful.

The larger the group, the more sonics there are, the more destructive you become, especially since the damage debuffs from multiple persons and multiple powers stack.

A reasonable alternative might be to increase the sonic debuff, but prevent stacking of damage resistance debuffs.

Blaster defiance would be better served if it kicked in at 70% with a consumately lower bonus, say around 40%. this would allow blasters to use it tactically, particularly at lower lvls.

Though such a useful power requires some element of risk, the current setup requires more leeway in order for that risk to be acceptable for many.

I get my ideas from a little shop in schenectady.

Controllers are superior to Defenders at providing team defense.

The problem is that defenders must often take numerous powers to provide adequate defense.

A controller often only need one, some form of lockdown. To add that the controller gets secondary team defense in defender secondaries.

A controller can one shot hold a minion/lieut, and with two quick recharging holds can remove a boss from a fight. Defenders cannot compare in this regard.

The best solution is to tamper with Controller secondaries, making them more offensive, and less defensive.

The result is that controllers are not as good at healing/buffing/debuffing, but are more offensive, this will increase the value of defender buffs.

This increases contorller soloability at lower levels, and increases defender importance across the board.

You have all this power... now what do you do with it? Do you fulfill your own wants and desires? or, do you give only to others?

Both Arachnos and Statesman could consider themselves "good guys".

Perhaps Arachnos believes that humanity is too selfish, too weak, to truly accomplish anything, and so requires strong leadership in order to achieve.

And perhaps Statesman believes that, given time, humanity will become something better than it is today, with a little nudge here, and a little nudge there.

For both, their goal is peace, and security. Ot's how they go about it.

Just because you bear the power of Zeus does not actually make one, Zeus, i suppose.

If the power existed as kind of a neutral way, almost like a gun.

A gun can be used to kill innocents, or kill food to make sure those innocents don't starve.

That's the curse statesman and arachnos bear... the curse of supreme power.

I was not referring to his attacks. I was referring to Quake and Pulse Wave. I baked those into the design of his dial to represent his ability to call upon the Lightning of Zeus.

Yeah, Incarnate refers to a deity. Statesman is "Zeus Incarnate" Zeus in the Flesh. Zeus inhabits the body of Statesman.

Likely hades inhabits the body of Lord Recluse.

Ahhhh...so they're just being polite enough to notify you ahead of time? Interesting.

But what's the purpose of RISKING a base raid.

Let's say I have the "Star of Oblivia" or whatever in my base.

Why consent to a base raid? Your only opprotunity is to LOSE what you're trying to protect. The benefits must be commensurate with the risk.

In America today it's entirely acceptable to hate, and make racist remarks towards and against white people.

Europeans are almost universally whites (Caucasians).

Imagine if Liquid had stated that he hated Africans, or was even more specific, and stated he hated blacks?

This board would turn on him in a heartbeat.

There are certain groups with whom is it virtually a mortal sin to write hate speech about (Read: Gays, Blacks, Women).

Other groups (Read: Straight, White, Male) are under assault almost constantly. Watch television commercials, notice who is the butt of virtually every joke. These boards merely mimic the culture we live within. A culture of hatred, hatred of white men.

Many may argue that "Well, I can't be racist against whites, i AM white!". You can easily be racists against whites despite being white, just as much as it is possible to be a misandrist if you're male. (Although misogyny is a relatively well known word, misandry is not. Whereas Mysogynists hate women, Misandrists hate men).


That's the long comment. Here's the short one.

If Liquid had used the dreaded N Word, or even made it clear he hated those of African descent, how long do you think it would take before he was perma-banned?

Something to ponder.
