I know what you're going to say. It wasn't my first time into the mission. Very true, but I thought ahead to counteract that.

    I TRIED TO FAIL.

That's right, I jumped in head first, right on top of two portals. Not even targeting the portals, the two at my end died from AoE. I left the two in the back alive while my bots tore Honoree and Holtz to little bitty pieces. All I did was taunt and lay traps. No commands to my bots. No tactics. No inspirations. Bloody bumrush, and I came through without a hitch.
Well, good for you. We obviously had different variables of luck.
When I get round to doing the mish again, I'm sure I won't get done over so much by terrible net drop timing and bad luck leading to insurmountable ammounts of Rikti.

One last question; did you sit back and let the portals spawn..hmm...for two-three minutes? Because thats what happened when I was trying to fight Holtz. If you managed to beat the mission through over 100 or so Rikti minions, good on you. You are invariably a better player than me, and I don't much mind.

But I think it's reasonable of me to take issue with people basically calling me out as some kind of idiot or whiny noob who can't cope with a hard mission. Because it's untrue, and I will tell anyone who says as such exactly what to do with themself, as Im pretty sure most other people would to.

OR, you know, turn your difficulty rating down. That mission there was on +1 level, x3 hero with bosses and EBs. Turn it down to x1, it'd have been a cakewalk for most of us.
Thank you so much for insulting my intelligence. Im sure that makes everything better.
I said before; this mission WAS on +0/x1. Thats part of the reason I was really narked with it.

And I did beat it solo, eventually. And then the net crashed. So no way in smegging hell I was going through that crapstorm again.
Hence my rebuttal of people going "ZOMG so easy, dont let people drop missions despite them maybe having valid reasons to!"

    Kindly take your patronising elsewhere.

    Alpha's Lab

Right, Uni work is now outta the way, so, hopefully, I can finish up the other 6 sketches Sorry for the wait, folks!

  5. +range to TD sounds good. Didn't think of that one at all.

    Holiday Hamidon

With the Mitos as baubles and the Star on top being the Hami Core. And ghostly tinsle that acts the same way as the goop does at the moment...
    That'd be awesome XD
  8. /Signed I've always envied the Legacy Chain Earth and Light mages for the shiny powers they hint at but we see little of. Hurling great chunks of rock and earth around would work well in a game like this. Along with opening up more concepts and options.

I'd also disagree with it being too similar to Earth Control. Thats like saying ANY of the control sets are too similar to their blast counterparts.

And those of us who have very decent builds and have played un-hindered for a long time (NOTE: No, that does not mean easy mode. Running on x8 proves just the right sort of mix of fun and challenge, thank you. And I was running THIS on x1. This is why I am spitting teeth over it so much.) are understandably hacked off when the game takes that and spanks you about like it counts for nothing.

I'm guessing being semi-tired last night coupled with a string of bad luck on the mission didn't improve my perception of it. I'm sure I'll comment again when I get another toon to 50 and try it again.

  13. Uhm...you do realise you also fight States, Recluse, Sis Psyche, Positron, Imperious AND Romulus?

She's not evil. Theres your answer. Those are Time Echoes. Not the real people.

MFing Warshades. I cannot express how fun it is to play my warshade. Even to level it up was the most enthralling journey to 50 I've ever experienced. Granted, I only have three 50s, but that's just showing how many other ATs couldn't give me the enjoyment to actually get to 50.
Pardon? I can't hear you over the sound of How freaking Awesome I am! SOULS! DARKNES!! Bow down, humans!

He's only level 39, too. Cannot wait to get him to 50

Oh, and my Bots/Traps level 50 with his shiny new Alpha slot. That guy is a walking army all by himself. Pity that the A.I. still insists on acting stupid but, hey...it happens.

Untrue. I heard the text for a Rikti ambush, and saw the portals pop up along with some standard fare Rikti. There was no instant spawns from the portals, and then Holtz decided to make introductions with her rail rifle. I assumed, wrongly as it turned out, that the portals would act like normal Comms officers portals. NOT that they would spew a constant tide of Rikti minions.
Or, at the very least, that they would act like Behemoth portals and only summon a certain ammount and when a target was in range. They obviously kept spawning the two times I had to make a run back for cover and re-arming.
Omniescence is not one of my available powers, even at 50.

    Vigilante Woes

Yup, totally misunderstood that wording and meaning there.
In fact, that patch note makes no sense at all. It's saying...what, exactly? It seems to say one thing and yet...is another?
    My head hurts now...
  17. It's great, isn't it? I haven't actually minded respeccing all that much, because of how much cackling I've been able to do at my new builds. My Stalker in particular was happy as larry, due to not having to juggle Bu+ Placate/Travel/Fitness in the 12-20 range. Now it's just stabstabstabpainstabawesomestab

Now, I don't know whether other people are seeing this here on live, the portals weren't spitting out THAT many on me this time.

But seriously, it's just tactics. If you don't have some form of snipe - a vet reward or even a temp power - get someone to help you, or head straight for those portals.
Oh, you managed to screenshot what I was faced with after I finally beat down Holtz...

And yeah, sure, if I'd know to come on the forums and look up the entire arc, ruining the surprises and plot and bascially reading the guidebook for it, I'm sure I woulda been fine.
But then I might as well just PL to 50 and skip all the content if I'm going to do that, might'nt I?
There was nothing tactical about it. It was 'We're going to break your AoE target cap with so many targets that you will, invariably, die.'
I've said my piece, and will continue to view that kinda thing as bugged to hell.

It smacks of lazyness. It smacks of disrespect. It smacks of -Cryptic-.

You wreck two zones, defeat the main hero group in the game, and don't show anything? No changes, no NPC dialogue, no nothing. You say there's invading forces, but outside of instances there's nothing.

At least when That Gaming Company decide to wreck their world that have the punch to back up their words by actually CHANGING it!

And what then? Is this just going to be swept to the wayside when issue 20 comes out, with the up to 24 person BAF raid? We've seen concept art for Mother's new hospital as well, but nothing yet saying there's going to be anything for the zones.

    Because there probably won't be.

Cimeora could have just been a set of missions from Ouroboros or the Midnight Squad, instead of an empty zone of hardly anything. You waste time on that, when old zones languish, crying out for attention but being ignored. You add systems and ignore them, or cast crumbs in their direction. You're Neuron. And that's not a good thing. I'd rather have Anti-Matter. At least when he starts something he has the audacity to do it right and proper.

And what about the Freedom Phalanx? They've been defeated. Even Statesman? The Big Hero? Yeah, we mock him, but casting him aside in a byword in an e-mail and then saying that the player characters are now -better- than the Freedom Phalanx? It does not compute! It is the two to ones and zeroes.

For 8 months now, I've had no interest in That Other Game. And now I am interested again. Because they change things up. They tinker with abilities with no 'cottage rule', and if something doesn't work, it usually gets looked at.

The only thing that really keeps me in CoH is the RP, the character customizaton, and friends. The new storylines seem to disregard the RP, the major new point of character customization, power customization, is still half done (Dread having an elemental set with a colouring, and then getting the APP and finding out nothing matches anymore. Hot Wire, Solar's character, has yellow lightning, which means if they take the Electric Mastery Pool, it's not going to look at all decent), which just leaves friends.

    You know what?

    Screw what the e-mail says.

I'm going with "tension is increasing and heavily armed Praetorian incursions have begun" as Ravenswing said earlier.

((Phew, I feel better for that. Rage: It's not just a Tsoo drug.))
    ...
Ow! Who th- Someone get that damn kid with the wings and bow! Who does he think he is...

But yeah. This deserves quoting in full because I couldn't have put it better myself.
Z, please please please post this in a thread of it's own. It deserves it ^^

And Amen to the I20 hopes, Shadowe. Although we may well be dissapointed there...

Indeed it doesn't. But Fun does also not equate to 'We're going to zerg you with Rikti to the point you can't even see the EB for them!'

I've covered this point to death already. But, again, it wasn't challenging. It was just cheap and tedious.

    Oh me...
  22. Well, we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Because I pulled a buttload of tricks outta my skitplate, and none of them worked, until I eventually managed to get the Honoree to follow me thanks to his longer ranged psi attacks.
And then the net died. So there was no way in hell I was running through that a second time.
  23. Cool...
I might actually have a reason to join Hami Raids now

Yes, I do find that amusing.
Yeah, the EBs in all the arcs were fine. I liked their dialogue, the missions themselves...hell, I have no problem with the arc as a whole, aside from the Bugged MM pets in the first mission which made me sad, and the Rikti Zerging in the RWZ mission. Even then, it wasnt the EBs giving me problems.

People seem to note Trapdoor as well; I loved that mission. Is that map he's in new?

Yes, it requires tactical application. Try bringing appropriate inspirations. Try looking into the damn room before you jump into it. Try using targetting macros. Try kiting. Try pulling. TRY. NEW. BLOODY. TACTICS.

Ok. So you got to an irrevocable point in your mission where you could not proceed. Abandon it, try again. The portals don't start with 100+ rikti.
The fact it got to that point at all is rediculous.

Oh, and were you there when I was doing the mission? No, you weren't. For the record, I never button mash going 'Herp dade derp!' I play Bots/Traps, for pete sake, Im more than at home with tactical application, thank you. And no, I didn't run straight into the room. I DID kite, mostly because with softcapped defences its nigh impossible not to.
So, Id thank you for not judging me like you were watching over my shoulder when I was playing and typing down to me like Im one of these god damn whiners who hasnt got a clue to play. When I complain about something on the boards, its for a reason. And I think its understandable that I get a little shirty when being patronised.
