  1. Not exactly decorative per se, but I'd like to see more options for room sizes.

    <ul type="square"> 3x3 entrance room.
    3x3 lab room.
    4x4 lab room.
    1x3 decorative room.
    2x3 decorative room.
    2x4 decorative room.
    2x5 decorative room.
    3x5 decorative room.
    3x6 decorative room.
more size options for energy and control.

    etc.
    [/list]
It's often very difficult to do a specific design when you must have a 2x2 room in the design no matter what. And sometimes you want to fill a space, but the option just isn't there because no room anywhere is the proper size.

<ul type="square">[*]Mission Teleporter Power - Players can save time and get right into the action by teleporting directly to their active mission.[/list]

    Question:

Will this power teleport you to the door if you're in the same zone already, or will it take you across zones to the door? (Zube is thinking of certain shard TF's...)

Mission teleporter, so lazy we have become.

I want a costume option to eliminate legs and feet.

There will never be a complete set, only complete to a certain point - and even then not everyone has the ability to have all of the badges.

    Demonstrably false, I'm afraid.

    Beef

    Name them.

Oh, BTW, the Wizard of Oz called. They need their Straw Man back.

    CaptA for one apparently.
I'm sure if you dig through these forums you will see many more based on what I can guess from the implications in his message.

    "Apparently?"

QUOTE where he said that. Provide a link.

"I'm sure if you dig?" Sorry, no. You made that claim. You get to defend it. Quotes and links please. Thank you, and goodnight.

Say you're in a prison (because let's face it: as an OCD gamer, that's pretty much what badges are to me at this point).

The warden gives you a choice between two options:

    1) You can have 6 decent-sized meals a month, one every 5 days.
    2) You can have a feast every 30 days.

(Also, every 2 meals you eat comes with a dessert to help tide you over to the next meal.)

You could manage to survive only eating a good meal once every 5 days. But how long would it take before you and the other prisoners (badgers) died out completely waiting for the thirty day feasts?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This right here is the reason why all analogies should be against the EULA for these boards...
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Badge Hounds are just like the Content Hounds. When new content comes out, they blow through it and demand give me more! Same with the badgers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Demonstrably false. I for one do not "blow through" new content.

Broad overgeneralizations that are just made as hand-waving arguements, pulled out of your butt without any shred of evidence, do not as a general rule actually help whatever point you're trying to make.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Permanent jet packs would be awesome. None of the travel options really jive with the RP story of my hero (he's just a regular guy that relies on technology, and not silly tech at that) so the raptor pack is literally my only realistic option for travel.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, as many have already pointed out, permanent packs would allow you to skip your travel power, freeing up not just two power selections but an entire pool. Not. Going. To. Happen.

Your "regular guy" just needs to have the costume option of a jetpack. You'd still have to take fly, but whenever you were flying around, you just switch costumes to the one with the jet pact. It's something that the players have been asking for for quite some time. And SexyJay is working on them as we speak.

But for that matter, you already have "just a regular guy that relies on technology" options. You can get tech wings, rocket boots, or piston boots as costume options.

But you're not going to get to buy permanent travel powers with cash monies.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Either of these powers/features would be great as a veteran reward!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Never happen, as that would mean that vets can essentially get a free travel power, and therefore skip taking one from a pool. It would be unbalancing.

    [ QUOTE ]
Why is COH recycling rewards like the Sand of Mu, etc.?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with you there. The game has a lot of other temp power attacks that could have been used.

if you realy want to continue, the numbers are around 32 million toons and 350,000 active accounts in this game alone. do the math.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even at its absolute highest, this game has never had anywhere near 350,000 accounts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...but if you call him out on pulling numbers out of his butt, then how will he ever score debate points by claiming that his opponents "need to do their research?"
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Maybe *your* numbers are...but the numbers as of last June (the most recent I've seen) were ~138k active accounts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Meh. May as well save your breath. The guy claims all this knowledge of economics, but doesn't even know where his SHIFT key is located. And he keeps saying crap like "do your research" while he himself totally exaggerates numbers (or pulls them completely out of thin air).

And now the Sock Puppets appear to have come along.

The bottom line is broken down into two parts:
    (1) The devs only made the jet pack purchasable separately because many players asked for it.
    (2) Nobody is forced to buy it.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Meh to the lot, especially the rental jetpack for inf spammers, terrible idea

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ummm... where have you been?

The devs never origionally intended to offer a 30-day jet pack for sale. It was just a little perc included on the time card. It was the players themselves that asked for the option to buy the jet pack seperately. The devs were actually surprised at the request from so many players, but they gave it to us anyway.

Cripes. Sometimes I swear the devs could hand every player a sack of gold and personally fellate each and every one of us... and there will still be endless [censored]-ing on the forums!

...and I have absolutely no idea where you got that inf spammer bit from.

What if they start selling access to new zones? Selling access to new archetypes? Selling access to task force/trial rewards?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Horrors!! Think of the children!! Oh Dear Lord... who will save the children???

    [ QUOTE ]
Straight out selling influence/infamy/prestige for cash?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    (1) The RMT spammers will go away because they won't be able to compete.
    (2) The impatient kiddies and/or adults with more dollars than sense may buy some.
    (3) The players who enjoy playing the game will still earn plenty of influence and use the upcoming merit system to get those expensive IO recipes without paying any RL dollars.
    (4) NCSoft will make a little more money off of CoX, giving a better return on their investment.
    (5) The additional profits will allow for more development of improvements to the game that benefit even those who don't shell out RL money for influence.
    (6) Dogs and cats, living together... MASS HYSTERIA!!

10 second count-down, and you die every time you use it...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, gameplay advantage. If you play a tank, it's trivially easy to go into a large group, pop a red or two and maybe a yellow, and dole out a sweet purchased Nova to your enemies, probably defeating most of them, and making it really easy for the rest of the team to mop up. Pop a wakie, or even better, have someone with Resuscitate or Resurrect on hand, and you're good to go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please do post a YouTube video showing us all the awesome game-breaking, PLing power of this uber combo. Let us all know how quickly you were able to clear out a map full of demons, or family, or... just about anything. Be sure to show yourself standing around waiting for it to recharge.

Yes, we're all impressed by your sarcasm, but I don't think it will be quite as funny when $15 a month just plain isn't enough to play any more.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And when exactly will that be? I'm gonna throw a dollar into the office pool on "never."
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I found out a little while ago (missed this in the announcement) that the Cyborg pack includes the self-destruction power that does extreme damage. Yes, it has a self-kill component, but incurs no debt, so it's basically a purchasable modified nova power. Yet another gameplay-affecting advantage for people willing to shell out the $$$. It won't take many more of these add-on packs before a player with money has characters with an insurmountable advantage over those who don't.

  20. [ QUOTE ]
    This SUCKS.

Folks, I'm on a limited income. I'm disabled, on social security, and I really shouldn't be paying for City of Heroes in the first place, let alone now being tempted to pay even more to NCSoft for these excellent graphic pieces of art...

This blatant money-grubbing is really insulting to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The CoX IP was bought from Cryptic Studios by NCSoft.

    NCSoft is a for-profit company.

NCSoft has made a significant re-investment in the IP (tripling development staff, new offices, etc.).

NCSoft needs to make a return on their investment, and that return needs to be something more than just "everyone keeps playing and paying their subscription fees just like it was before" in order to justify the expense and risk they are taking.

Seen in this light, these new-style micro-expansions (wedding pack, cyborg fun pack, hypothetical cosplay catfight extravaganza) make perfect sense. In fact, back when NCSoft purchased CoX, I seriously wondered what they thought they were doing. I wondered how they expected to turn a profit on it. Well, now I know. To call this "money-grubbing" is silly, unless by "money-grubbing" you mean "basic capitalism."

And honestly, it's brillant. Nobody needs to buy the new stuff. Heck, you can even see the items on other players running around, which means that your play experience is enriched by them even if you don't buy one.

There are an almost infinite number of things out there in the world that I will never be able to afford to buy. I'm sorry to hear that your personal financial situation is rough. If it helps any, so is mine. But come on now... it's not all about you. To expect that NCSoft will devote the resources, personnel, and money into stuff like this without getting anything in return is simply unreasonable.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that the base improvements will bring a prestige grant with it... those are all sorts of fun [edit] My assumption on this is that if there is one, it won't be announced until the last second, so people don't pad their roster too much. This is actually the delusion I'm going to hold onto all the way to i13 going live, unless a dev steps in and... lets me down easy [/edit]

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Actually, given last (November, wasn't it?), if they decide to do a prestige grant, it'll be announced with loud fanfare about 2-3 weeks before the day in question. And if that happens, I guarantee a lot of people will be burning out every slot they've got, trying to fill their rosters with anything, just for the prestige grant. (Personally, I've already got all my slots fill, roughly half to my SG and my VG. So not much I can do aside spend lots of cash on character slots. &gt;.&gt;;

    Still, would be nice... free prestige means making bigger things happen faster... and would mean my "co-builder" for my VG can add decorative stuff to her heart's content. o.o;;;

On second thought... maybe a prestige grant is a bad idea. XD

    [/ QUOTE ]

In the 4-year history of the game there was ONE prestige grant which was intended to celebrate a UNIQUE circumstance (the CoX IP being sold to NCSoft, and the re-investment in the game from the new owners).

Now here it is not even a year later and some people actually think there's a frozen-water-spheroid's chance in a-very-hot-place-of-eternal-punishment that this unique circumstance will ever be repeated.
