Server just went down for maintenance.
Thanks everyone who came out for monsters! -
It appears that the Champion server is experiencing technical difficulties such that globals, missions and bases are not working.
A few of us are forming a blueside monster hunt. Send me a tell (I'm on Citrinitas) if you're interested! -
Also having this issue on Champion.

Quote:I lead successful Keyes trials on my server on a fairly regular basis. To get to this point, all I did was read over the information posted here, read over VoodooGirl's guide, and do the trial maybe twice. After that, I started forming them up. At the start of each trial, I went over the important points from what I understood, then I reiterated certain concepts as they became relevant during the trial. A couple failed in the beginning, but over time they became smoother and a lot more enjoyable. A few others on my server have also stepped up to lead them while placing an emphasis on educating players about the trial (describing what to expect and giving them helpful tips/macros). This has made a noticeable difference. More players are willing to do the trial, actually enjoying it, and completing it in less time. Recently, we completed one in about 17 minutes. In order to use strategy, i.e. "think," its necessary to know what is going on. On the three KI trials I have run, few people if any seem to know what's going on, or which reactor we should be at, or what level of the reactor is everyone ON, etc. One just tries to stay with everyone else and do what they're doing. This is neither enjoyable or strategically a good thing. It fosters neither cooperation or strategic thought.
Being on a trial with poor leadership combined with many inexperienced players can make any trial seem horrible. You mentioned that you have only been on three total and all three have lacked direction and organization. In that case, I can see why you have a sour opinion of Keyes. Since lack of leadership seems to be the biggest factor, I'd suggest trying to form up your own trials. It is not as difficult as it might seem. Just read up on the trial and communicate what you know to others. Once you've been on a few smooth runs you may wish to reconsider your opinion of Keyes. -

Quote:That's no problem GP. I would gladly take inexperienced folks on a regular run, but these badges are difficult and it's unrealistic I feel to expect people to learn the trial and pay attention to the extras.Sorry Amy! I hadn't read the first page, I just went straight from FB to signing.. had I known you wanted peops with experience in Keyes, I wouldn't have signed up. Almost at top tier for my alpha, gotta keep plugging away at that too. Been busy with the broodlings.. when school starts, I'll have more time to play.
In other news, congratulations everyone on a successful Master of Keyes run! Our league was 3 teams of 6 strong, so a fairly large group. We did not end up using Vent, only League chat and macros.
We were able to get Bunker Buster on the first run, Anti-Anti-Matter on the second, and both Loves a Challenge and Avoids the Green Stuff on the fourth run!
We tried a few different things during the first run that didn't work out, such as crowding Anti Matter at the terminals to try to force the Obliteration Beam into a predictable location. In theory, this sounds like a good idea but too many people reported they had difficulties seeing the beam with all the effects and people in that area.
In the end, we did what we did last week, which was pull Anti Matter to the terminals to limit the duration of the freeze, let him regen to full without attacking the terminals, try not to die, and avoid the beam all at once. I had anyone who was having difficulty seeing the beam area to put me on follow during the final fight. We also had a designated safe zone for those disintegrating where some healers were at the ready.
Once again, thanks everyone for your patience and dedication during these runs. The fact that we got all the badges in 8 runs total is impressive. I'm going to be taking next week off for this but will probably start the runs up again soon, as there are people who are probably still interested. -
We're starting to form in Pocket D now. Walk-ins will be included after 3pm Eastern if space is available.

Just a heads up, I plan on doing this a little differently than last time in the sense that we will likely attempt all four badges between the four runs.
The line up will be as follows:
First run - Bunker Buster (for anyone who missed it last week) and Avoids the Green Stuff
Second run - Anti-Anti-Matter and Avoids the Green Stuff
Third run - Loves a Challenge (focus) and Avoids the Green Stuff
Fourth run - Loves a Challenge (focus) and Avoids the Green Stuff
(The last two runs we'll focus on Loves a Challenge, i.e. not touch the terminals and try not to let anyone die. Avoiding the Obliteration Beam is still a good idea for this, so we could still end up with the badge during these runs if we haven't gotten it already. In contrast to the previous Green Stuff runs, we will be using Lore Pets to help bring him down faster.) -

Whether rules are 'needed' or not largely reflects member preference. Since there are several members in both channels, it can be safely assumed that both styles of moderation are effective. What's important, in my opinion, is not which style is 'better', but that a choice exists so that people can pick the channel that suits them. The fact that the channels have different qualities is a good thing.

Quote:Indeed, we are well aware that the Obliteration Beam targets a player. I have been on numerous runs where the beam area has spawned in mid air, making it difficult for players below to see. The main contributing factor for this is that Anti Matter is flying, especially after his regeneration is prevented at one of the terminals, and players are flying up to attack him. The Obliteration Beam can then target one of these players. (This scenario occurs in addition to people who fly as a regular part of combat). This was what I was referring to with the two points you've quoted.A note on this. The Obliteration Beam actually targets a specific player for its point of placement. For example: Anti-Matter is standing atop a big building, and a dozen players are below. He will "fire" the Oblit Beam at a player. Where that player was at the time of firing will be where the Oblit Beam will appear. It doesn't follow the player if they're moving.
However, it DOES place the beam targeting in the air if that player is flying, or Ninja/Beast/Hurdle/SJ'ing their way through the air. It's common that a player doesn't even notice they were targeted as they Jump through the target point that was just laid down, but the players beneath him/her wouldn't realize it.
Please note the list I provided is a quick recap of points discussed at length during the actual runs. I feel confident most will understand what I was referring to. However, apologies if this has lead people to believe the Obliteration Beam fires on Anti Matter. That is incorrect.
If there is anything else I can clarify please let me know. -
I'll be doing this again this Saturday, August 6th at 3pm Eastern in Pocket D. Please try to arrive a couple minutes early so we can start at 3pm. We will start with Bunker Buster (for anyone that missed it last week) and Avoids the Green Stuff. We will do three to four runs total. If we have a strong group, I'll make one of the runs an Anti-Anti-Matter run as well.
Also, some people have voiced that the above time is not ideal for them. Please let me know if you would like me to shift the time and I'll see what I can do for next week.
Sign up below! Thanks!

Quote:Rebirth is the Destiny power that is a giant PBAoE heal. The effect animates along the ground in a large area and is by default green in colour. Some people have found that it makes it more difficult to see the Obliteration Beam area for that reason.I actually didn't know what that means. I have Barrier as my Destiny Incarnate power.
Quote:Seeing how quick we were with the reactors, I would like to think it would be plausible to get Anti-anti matter next time also. -

Our first Keyes badge session is now complete. We did 4 runs total and did manage to get Bunker Buster on the first try. Unfortunately, were unable to get Avoids the Green Stuff, though we came extremely close several times. Overall people today should be extremely proud of their work today. It takes most groups several attempts. The fact that even on our first run only one person got caught in the beam was impressive to say the least.
Below are some notes:
What Worked Well
Bunker Buster
- Started at Bunker Lepton. There were 3 teams total; each team was assigned to a door. We beat them down to about 10% health, counted to 3, on 3 fired Judgements, etc. Rinse/repeat for remaining bunkers. Badge was awarded at the end of the trial.
Increasing Beam Visibility
- Lore pets were not used.
- Cameras zoomed all the way out at all times.
- Rebirth powers were changed to anything but green.
- Melee were asked not to melee the terminals during Anti Matter's regeneration, but instead use Judgements. (This prevented melee folk from being caught in the corners and allowed them to see the beam more effectively).
- Kept all players on the ground as much as possible to keep beam footprint on the ground. This means: No flying, and all hopping should be kept to a minimum.
- Anti Matter himself was also kept on the ground to limit the tendency for players to fly/jump up to fight him, causing the beam area to spawn in mid air.
Avoiding the Beam
- Powers with long animations or rooting effects were not used or limited around the time the beam struck.
- Captain Drej called out a 10 second warning before the next strike via macro.
- Anti Matter was moved to each set of terminals before he reached the health thresholds (80%, 50%, 20%). This limited the duration of time frozen, reducing the chance of getting hit.
Trial in General
- We were able to get over 19 people on each run with no one kicked. Having those over 19 join via the queue worked extremely well to avoid this problem. We also had people wait until triggering the cutscene until teams were sorted.
- We were able to complete the reactors fast. There was a team dedicated to collecting temps. Other teams went to clear around terminals at relevant reactors. We were able to secure many reactors before Anti Matter showed up.
- For Reactor Genesis, we were able to secure all 10 terminals before Anti Matter showed up twice in a row. Amazing job there!
- We had one run done in 17 minutes! Awesome!
Room for Improvement
- People are still getting caught in the beam, mostly due to a visibility issue. I had a couple report they could not see the beam effects on the ground prior to firing. Perhaps we could designate a few 'safe people' to put on follow before the beam strikes.
- On our third run we would have had it except for poor timing. Time was frozen and the beam struck. Not much you can do. On future runs we may have to call for a cease fire if the timing between the time freeze and beam is close.
I think that is it for now. Please post if you have any other ideas and continue to reflect on our work done today. I will be posting a sign up for next week soon and will probably bump the time to 3pm Eastern since that seems to work for more people.
Thank you very, very much for coming. Everyone did an exceptional job. -
I agree. Now would be a good time to clarify the rules.
There has been a transition, no doubt. Over the past two years or so, BMT has evolved into its own culture. It has been a channel focused on server activities, a source of information, help for new and returning players, teams, badges, etc. For the most part, it has been kept on task. As someone once put it, it's the 'get **** done channel'. As such, it is unique amongst the many more socially oriented networks on our server. Many people have been invited to the channel during this time and have become accustomed to the rules of the channel and how it operates. The driving force behind this culture was undoubtedly Cobalt. I personally appreciated his efforts, respected his rationale behind the rules, and felt he tried to be as consistent and fair as possible while upholding them. Whether you agreed with him or not, at least you knew what to expect.
Whether the recent changes are for better or worse, only time will tell. In the meantime, the new rules should be clearly articulated as to not contradict BMT members' experiences over the past few years. -
Quote:I'll definitely mention it.Would everyone that is taking part in this run be so kind as to bug report whatever bug causes this to happen? It would be very much appreciated.
By the way guys, this is today! Just a reminder we're meeting in Pocket D at 2pm Eastern. Please change your Rebirth colour to anything other than green before showing up.
I've had a few people ask how long we'll be doing this for. I don't have a set stop time, but I'd estimate we'll do three to four runs. Basically what people feel comfortable with. -
Also, to help limit confusion with other trials, we will be forming up in Pocket D, not RWZ.
-
Just a heads up, we're now at 19 people on the sign up. Having numbers in a league over this amount has caused some to be kicked due to a bug.
I will try to accommodate everyone, but this may not be possible. Therefore, I will be giving priority to the people who have signed up thus far. What I will likely do is invite the first 19 and then have the remaining people join via the queue. From my experience, this seems to have resulted in fewer people getting kicked. -
Quote:Added Sovereign to the list. I would appreciate it if people could add themselves to the sign up. That way it is kept current and there's less of a chance that we miss someone.Amygdala, I believe @Sovereignsavior wanted in, putting team two at a full 8 members.
Are you all aiming to use voice chat? I have vent installed, but can't offer a server for this event, so it would have to be obtained elsewhere.
I would prefer not to use Vent for now. In my experience, there's always some people who don't have it installed or can't use it and I end up having to give instructions in two different locations. Most people who have signed up so far are fairly familiar with the trial, are already used to using the common macros, etc. I don't think the tactics for getting the badges are going to take a ton of explanation beyond what most already know. If after the run this Saturday most of us feel Vent is necessary I'll look into it then.
While I have various ideas in terms of strategy, we'll start with the simplest plans first and add complexity as needed. My impression, however, is that regardless of the plan our success is going to come down to good old fashioned team work, practice, folks paying attention and maybe a bit of luck. Please keep in mind that other groups that have succeeded have tried up to a dozen times prior to having a successful run. I'm prepared to do three to four runs on Saturday, but I don't want to burn people out. Seven hours is too long. If we don't get it, we'll just try again the following week. -

Quote:This.I'm sure we'll move people around based on what badge we're working on.
For instance, when we did Anti-Anti-Matter the first time, the teams were just randomly mixed. This time I think it will be MUCH easier if we had anyone that's doing some sort of aura healing all on the same team. If all the healers are together, it would be easier to watch health and keep each other alive. If we keep each other alive, we'll have a better chance to keep the rest of the league alive.
I'm sure we'll go into more detail as we get closer to Saturday.
For now I just want a body count so I know how many are interested and what ATs are coming. Details will be provided according to which badges we'll be focusing on. -
I'd like to start trying for some of the Keyes badges starting this Saturday, July 30th, at 2pm Eastern. We will be meeting in Pocket D. It will take a few tries to get them all, so I will likely schedule a weekly attempt.
Quote:This Saturday, I would like to focus on getting Avoids the Green Stuff and Bunker Buster. I figure Avoids the Green Stuff will be good practice for Loves a Challenge. Anti-Anti-Matter isn't particularly difficult, but very cumbersome, so I will probably schedule it on its own day to not burn people out. Here are the badges we will need for Master of Keyes Island Reactor:
Anti-Anti-Matter: Complete the Keyes Island Reactor Trial after having brought Anti-Matter below 10% of his health while attempting to take control of Reactor Hope.
Bunker Buster: During the Keyes Island Reactor Trial, bust down all three doors on a bunker within three seconds, and then repeat for all bunkers near Reactor Infinity.
Loves a Challenge: Complete the Keyes Island Reactor Trial without anyone dieing or destroying any terminals during the final battle with Anti-Matter.
Avoids the Green Stuff: Don't let anyone be caught by an Obliteration Beam in the final battle with Anti-Matter during the Keyes Island Reactor Trial.
Please sign up below if interested. I would prefer it if the people that sign up have done the trial at least once and are familiar with it. I don't want to spend much time explaining the trial but instead focus on badge strategy.
