  1. Oh, I'll play for a mousemat! Seriously though, don't put yourself out, mate. I was just curious to see if we'd do something like a TF, etc.
  2. Any 'events' planned, aside from showing up and playing?
  3. Cool tools. Do they have machines with the game on / updated?
  4. I'll keep this post updated if the times change.
  5. Yeah, it worries me that there is more space in my tights for salvage than there is in the HUGE VAULT built into the side of my workshop...
  6. Bliss. The second it's released, my SG are having a 'uniform creating contest' YAY!

    Day jobs

    It's certainly alt-friendly.
  8. Ok - so - more officially.

The New Guardians are aiming to run the STF TONIGHT (Friday 10th October) starting between 7.30pm and 8pm (BST)

    Any takers?
  9. Ohoooohoh!

We're hoping to run it tonight - are you free?

    Day jobs

GG > "That 30 day requirement is going to be a bit of a problem for me"

You know, I just mentioned this system to a colleague of mine, and I actually mentioned you. "She never logs out - how is she going to get 30 days of offline time?!"

Standoff > "Think of it as an opportunity - working hard on your badges in-game and down the pub at the same time!"

Same thought here. I can now be kicking back at the pub on a Friday night, and thinking - "Yep, I'm earning badges. Should I stay for another hour? Yes, of course. I'm earning badges!"

And yeah - hopefully we'll see some more 'zany' jobs appear in the complete list.
  11. Then lo and behold - you can save/load costumes. Well, we're halfway there. You've got to love the devs for being ahead of the curve
  12. As for the exploit - well, it's not a huge programming challenge to prevent it from happening. It's like a document referring to a font you don't have, when you transfer a document to a different machine - the name of the font isn't found in the 'accessible list', so the font is genericised. I'm sure the same logic works for costumes.
  13. We were discussing this the other day in another thread - perfect timing! This is EXACTLY what the game needs

All we need now is an offline character creator module!
  14. "But it would still be a tool whose sole purpose was to create superhero costumes which - if those costumes were never added to the game - couldn't be vetted for copyright violations. As I understand it, in effect it would be a tool designed to aid violation of Marvel's copyright."

I suppose so - but with that logic, I've no idea why Marvel haven't attacked every other hero creator out there. Maybe it's because NCSoft had the money...

"Not sure I completely agree with that, but to be honest it doesn't really matter if I (or anyone else outside NCSoft) agrees or not - to stop distributing it was the agreement with Marvel. End of."

Oh, I'm not arguing the fact. I'm just trying to better understand it
  15. But if it was, as I have suggested, just allowing you to 'import' costumes that you created - how would it infringe Marvel copyright? In the end, you'd only be able to 'play' heroes that weren't breaking the rules. Hell, you can 'design' Marvel look-a-like costumes anywhere....
  16. Ok - so we all know that a big part of CoX's 'hook' is the costume creator / hero (or villain) designer. Hours of fun tweaking costumes, colours, capes and cowls, before you even ENTER the game. Even once you've picked your primary costume, there are four more slots to unlock, extras to earn and new ideas to pick up as you see other players, and NPCs. THIS WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE...

I was sitting in my office today, thinking about possible costumes for a new 'themed set' of characters that I wanted to create. I know most of the items in the (fully unlocked) costume creator by heart, so I can visualise costumes before I go home and try them out.

But that's the frustrating part - having to wait.

The Hero Designer (the classic HTML one) is nice for 'ideas' - putting together a concept before you try it - but as some of you know, a costume idea can fall flat on its face if you can't find the right piece to make it look just right.

Then I thought about Spore - the latest PC game. As a 'preview', they released a 'creature creator' before the main game was released, where you could build you 'creature' and have it ready for the main game.

You know what would be good? A 'costume creator' application - a modular, graphical 'app', that you could load seperately (without the rest of CoX) and build costumes, which you could then 'export' from your office (say, on your lunch break) and 'import' at home at the end of the day (I'm working under the assumption that a costume in itself could be broken down into an XML format... which when you think about it, makes sense).

The number of times I have introduced a friend to CoH by letting them make an character on my account - and then having to write down all of the costume pieces so that when they buy their own copy, they can recreate it. An 'export costume' button would be amazing here.

And hey - why not put the costume creator out there as a demo? An introduction to the game? Ok, yeah, you've got the '14 day trial' - but that's a huge download. The costume creator could be fully 'offline' - and then you could create costumes to your heart's content, and upload the finished 'configuration' to a new (or existing?) character in the game.

Just a thought - certainly something I could've used today - my head is exploding with costume ideas that I can't put into action until tonight!!!
  17. So - money-wise, what is it per person?
  18. It'll be interesting to see whether they keep the salvage storage system. Currently we have:

    VAULT = Personal INVENTION Salvage
SHELVES = Shared BASE, COMPONENT, and EVENT salvage

If base salvage is going bye-bye, then does that mean people will be able to store more invention salvage, do you think?
  19. Will we ever seen the indian headdress hat-piece?
  20. See, THAT would be good.

Log off at Paragon's YMCA and get one of five costumes...
