Seeing as though you've avoided Power Burst and the two early Energy melee powers i'm guessing you're playing a very Ranged toon. In that case id strongly recommend Boost Range at 35. As Silver said, it's a gr8 power and i cant blast without it anymore!

Pre-ED explosive blast was close to being effective as a damage dealer. I used to have it 6 slotted for damage, and when combined with Aim + BU was a pretty effective alpha. As it stands now i think its brawl index is actually weaker than Power Bolt (IIRC bolt = 2.7 and Explo is 2.5). Hence why a lot of people have fallen out of love with it. It's pretty much just asking for a slap off the mobs. That being said it CAN BE a very effective form of control for solo play. If that's what you'r aiming for then i'd slot it with 2x Acc, 2x KB, 2 recred (or put in some endred).

If control is what you're after id definately suggest Power Push from your primary available at 18. Get it, love it. It's great out of the box, and only needs maybe a slot for 1x Acc. (it's got a very high inherent acc) It's got a very quick recharge (8 seconds IIRC) and is quick enough to keep a War Hulk permanately on his booty, hence making them very solo'able from range without being as much as scratched. And as an added bonus it has pretty much the Range of Bolt, Blast and Explosive (80's compared to PP's 70).

Im guessing you went for the double travel power for the SS+Stealth inherent Invis thingy? and you went for Hover and Fly for keeping distance between you and the mobs? (very commendable btw) If that's the case you could probably drop fly out of your build altogether. Hover 3 slotted for flightspeed is close to fly speed, and when coupled with Power Boost, it's faster than out-of-the-box Fly. (if you just LOVE having fly as a travel power just ignore me )

It's refreshing to see a Range build on the forums
If you change your mind and go for the melee "blapp" route, there are a lot of people to give advice for that too

FYI the brawl index comparison ;
Power Bolt = 2.7 Energy Punch = 5.4
Power Blast = 4.5 Bonesmasher = 7.2

Which is why post-ED a lot of blasters went the blap route

I use Conserve Energy prodominately on my En/En blaster, dont feel i need stamina. Iv got all my attacks slotted for at least one endred.

If you fire it at the start of a fight you wont leave full endurance. Best tactic is to press it when you get low, it'll recharge your end back up to full while you fight. Even post-Nova it's fantastic, pop a blue and you're away again blasting at full capacity. It's a gr8 power to use at low end because as it effectively halfs the end cost of every power, if you'r RIGHT on 0 end, you'll pretty much b able to fire two attacks instead of one each pulse of end.

Pre-ED you could have it back up by the time it takes your endurance bar to go from full to empty (with no endred slotted) after the effect expires, but now you're looking at a little longer, hence the slotting of endred in most used powers.

The slotting is indeed 3x recred.

Good find Unthing. I read the whole US thread, and it was VERY interesting (especially since i have an Inv/SS at level 17 currently).
Whereas he started off by sayin he felt weak without a defender mid teens etc, once he hit 22 and got SO's he felt a bit better, and once he had KOB, he was pretty happy. He DID though feel he was a bit scranky, and was able to solo +1 maestro without any of his toggles. He goes on to say it was a balancing act between his primary and secondary to what was ACTUALLY keeping him alive.

Even more interesting was the fact that he'd said once he got Rage at 28, and made it perma at 29-30, that he felt he was out-damaging Scrappers and single target blasters! Now i know he'd 6 slotted his attacks by then, but to be one-shotting minions on a Tank and 2 shotting leuts is pretty unbelieveable, especially when SS gets footstomp which supposedly has a higher BI than many if not all Scrapper AoE BI's (his words not mine )
So he went from feeling underpowered, so feeling like an over-powered Scrapper.
It's a VERY good read and id suggest you all go and read it, all the way through before assuming it's about low level Tanks being weak

I'll have to work out a system with the Corrupters though, as both keep using the Bosses or toughest enemy in a mob as anchor, whereas thats always my target for my BU+AS too (one hit kill).

How long/far in levels did u guys go last night?
Was having a wail of a time going at it with my Stalker.
Sorry for not taking many defenses Rock boy but when iv got a great team behind me (including a rocking Plant dominator!) it didnt seem necessary at that time. Although i WILL be taking ur advice and gettin my melee and AoE defenses and slotting them post-haste.
Oh i'll also be using Teleport as a travel power, so will be gettin TP friend at some point. (can see it being useful for if i ghost through a level using hide then tp'ing team etc)
Another thing i thought of while pondering today aswell for just a "fun" aspect. Does any1 KNOW how TP team works? does t just to ur team> or is it a PBAoE grab?
If it's the latter, i thought itd end up begin great for crowding the 2 groups of pets around me, and tp'in us into a group to grab all the aggro while i AS folk Great fun!
All the builds were working great, i was particularly impressed with our resident Fire Brute cutting through the mobs

yeah nothing really grabbed me until the corruptor. tried a MM, the stalker and the Corrupter. The Rad seems real nice and hopefully Tar Patch will help me feel more like a blaster i'll need ur advice on the Dark side though as u learn from ur D3.
Although the reason i rolled a Stalker is the teaming aspect, i just think id love to be a stalker on a good team. Especially if you and me are double Stalking Del-boy, double AS'in trouble bosses or leuts etc. Also id never roll him into PvP so it cud b a pure PvE build.

Guess i'll try both a bit more and see how they pan out.

ooooooooo a villains one!!!

i cant play this Friday (tomorrow) but any other time you'll need me i'll make sure i get one high enough, i've got an ickle Stalker at 5 Claws/Ninj, and a Corrupter at 6 Rad/Dark. Ive NEVER been in a team on Villains so id definately but up for this to see the dynamics of it.

If a Blaster was your first toon, what was the very first power u activated to beat those diseased thugs in the tutorial zone?..........and is it still used in your build now?

Mine was Power Blast, i still love the animation every single time i cycle it, and yes its VERY much still in my build.
